The selection and service is exceptional. I see they even put on fun special events. I'm getting back into comic collecting and will definitely be returning to Atomic Comics regularly for my comic hunting needs. read more

Pretty great little comic ship. decent selection, but not GREAT. The clerk was very knowledgeable and made some great rec's. I still have a different local favorite, but I will be shopping here fairly regularly since I just moved in about 100ft from their front door. read more

Although I'm not big on comics, the store itself has a wide variety to choose from. They also have many gifts, posters, and accessories. The store is very well organized and clean. Nice and shiny! I'm no expert on pricing, but they range very differently from very low cost to whoa. The owner was very nice and helpful. He greeted us as we walked through the door. He was always keeping busy by tidying up the place. Definitely worth a look if you're in the area or an avid comic fan. read more

Pretty average store. The community gripe is that the store charges graded prices for a raw product. Not entirely a bad thing as a lot of stuff sticks around and if a buyer really wants something, then its available at a premium. Personally, if I think I can't get something everywhere else, this is probably the place it might exists. Its funny as this is the store that is the closest to me, but I venture in the least. read more

The girls are really great and very helpful and the store is always nice and kept clean... but the owner, think his name is Shane...im sorry, many books are WAYYYY OVER priced especially his key books. They are marked up at least 20 to 40% above raw value and this is especially true when watching his Facebook auctions. For example, the other day, he was auctioning off a newsstand edition 9.2 raw copy of Spawn #4 (1st Violator Cover), publicly claiming live that the "raw" 9.2 copy is valued at $100.00, but is willing to let it go for just $60.00...sounds like a deal right? WRONG! According to Overstreet, a newsstand edition raw copy of Spawn #4 in a NM- or 9.2 condition is valued at $24.00 NOT $100.00 as he claimed on Facebook Live and comicspriceguide has it listed at $9.40 for a NM-/9.2 raw grade. So...how and where exactly is he getting his numbers from??? If he was selling on ebay as an average individual, i'd get it...but he's NOT! He's selling it as a Comic Book Store, a legitimate professional comic book business! He's literally LYING to his customers online, live, on his Facebook auctions all to make a huge profit off of books valued at less his asking price! And its NOT just this book,,,he does it to ALL of his books that he auctions on Facebook Live! I mean people should do their research on a book BEFORE they take his words/prices at face value...anyone can get access to Overstreet Online or even comicspriceguide to research comic books. But in the end, its the customer's choice to pay for an over priced book...im just saying, why pay for something 20 to 40% more than its actual value? Hell, you can get a newsstand edition 9.2 raw copy of Spawn #4 on ebay for $20.00 plus shipping...under $30.00! I get it...I do. Its a business...but dont you think being honest and fair about a product would be a better choice than lying an marking the product upwards of 20 to 40%? 10%? 13?...sure I can live with...but anything over that just KILLS the hobby... read more

Yes I just so happened to collect as well. This place is not too bad. The selection here is pretty good. Although I do wish they had more horror, they did have alot of marvel. I'm still looking for my old school 1991 marvel trading cards though . But other than that, for the location and size of the store they got quite a bit. read more

My husband, son and I stopped by today for Free Comic Book Day! We were greeted by Batman and a Wonder Woman (so fun)! From the time we walked in to the time we left, everyone was so kind and welcoming. It didn't hurt that they heard my son's birthday was tomorrow-but regardless, it was such a pleasant experience. I loved how clean the store was and everything seemed very organized. Can't recommend this place enough. It was a really nice way to start our weekend. Thanks again to the staff and costumed superhero's! My son couldn't stop talking about how cool it was and he read his comics the whole way home! :) read more

A solid shop I've been going to for years. Shane is one of the best who is always friendly. The have a good rotation of back issues and wall books. The rest are pretty standard stuff you find in other shops. Definitely worth a look if you've never been. Very clean and organized store. Not the most little kid friendly with its size and how many comics and toys are very grab-able to little ones. Will continue to come here when I'm in town to find nicer back issues read more

The girl who works here is incredibly, cool. Shane though oooo where do I start with this guy, he seems incredibly phony as he puts on a fake smile and even acts as though he is better then you sometimes, all is books are extremely overpriced which I COmpletley understand he's a comic book store that needs to make profit in a dying buisness but most of his back wall high tier issues are BEYOND OVERPRICED and he is not even negotiable on half of them, I once went in there asking to negotiate on a book and he said the following " I cannot go any lower then marked price because I know I can sell it for that price" I saw this exact book on his back wall three and a half Months later at a comic convention, this guy is a joke. read more

I wanted to get some sugar free goodies for the grandkids to go with their Easter gifts. They range in age from 5 to 23. Comics! Not easy during the pandemic. But, I called Shane at Atomic Comics and he was so nice! Acting as my personal shopper and comic book guru, we got a great variety of fun reading material. He quickly shipped them to me. I was thrilled when they came so quick and in mint condition! I have started my list for next week! Highly recommend. read more

Even though I do not collect comics routinely anymore and just issues here and there it is still nice to know where my local comic shop is. Atomic Comics was a nice, refreshing place to go to! They have an impressive array of comics, both current and back issues and a wonderful selection of action figures that made me drool a little bit. The guys that work here are nice and friendly and eager to assist. Looking forward to going back! read more

This place is OK, I only started coming here because Comic Book Ink was made to close its doors for good. But they have no good sales, nothing special other than they seem to actually wanna be your friend and make lasting eye contact. All in all the place is OK but I've seen better. I was a little hasty in writing my review, I've come to love this place. The staff is friendly, they're really into what they sell. its an awesome place, and i dont wanna go anywhere else read more

I'm from southern California where you're always loyal to your comic book shop ... and I have to say this place is pretty close to my heart lol. We come in about one a month to browse the new comics & trades and to see what weird figurines and nerd gear they have in stock. Prices are reasonable and I do love their once a year sale. I would deff stop by and check it out. It's a small location but worth a walk through. read more

Found this place by chance and I'm so glad we did! This store is half comics/half toys. And there are some AMAZING merchandise! Every comic character has an action figure, posters (for sale, not just on display, which is such a tease in comic stores!), shirts, model scenes and unique items from movies like Star Wars -like a bookend, what??- and even some Magic: The Gathering cards. The comic selection is quite impressive and well organized. If you're a fan, you'll be here a while! The guy working was so nice (and funny!) and we enjoying talking with him. Will definitely be back when I'm in Tacoma again (and I'll take a picture, the Yelp listing needs one!) read more

I love going to this shop. One of my favorites LCS that I have visited. Shane and his crew take great care of me know me by name and pull my weekly books. Pretty much the only comic book store in Tacoma that's worthy of note. They keep a great stock of comics from my fav publishers/imprints: Vertigo, IDW, Dark Horse, Image, etc. The helpful and friendly staff have great phone and in-person customer service skills. They've helped me w/ special orders several times. When staff say that a particular new item will be in stock on a certain date, they're spot-on. This place does a great job and keeping the balance between collected volumes of less-mainstream "graphic novels" along w/ "regular" comics and ephemera. Wish it could be bigger, but hey, there's likely a pretty limited market for comics in Tacoma. read more

What's my beef? Shane. Don't trust Shane. Especially when it comes to Emerald City Comic Con tickets. He limits purchases of 4 tickets only. Doesn't matter if you need 6 for your family or that the ECCC website doesn't specify a limit or that you drove all the way from Yakima to buy them after being told "sure come on down, I have plenty!" and not telling you that he sets a limit of 4. Also he charges tax upon these tickets. Tax! These tickets are non-taxable! Basically it's a nice skim job that uncle Sam will never see. I have written to ECCC about his practices. I hope they take my experience into consideration when deciding future outlets for tickets. Too bad. I would have loved buying some comics there. Guess some people only see the pennies before the dollars. read more

Love this place! They've got a decent collection of older comics so I can try to recreate the collection my parents tossed out, and of course they sell new ones, too. The owner is a great guy and always willing to chat with a customer. He's not one of those comic book guy snobs who will sneer at you for not knowing the entire Marvel Universe. There are some toys, models, T-shirts, but it the focus is comics, which I appreciate. read more

I enjoy reading comic books and visiting comic shops. This is a small, clean, and well-organized shop in Tacoma, near the Tacoma Mall. It gives me no great pleasure to say I won't be returning to Atomic Comics to give my business. After being my go-to place for comics I was always made to feel like my patronage was a burden. There's a worker there who's been the one I've had the most interactions with, and rarely have they ever been positive. Any questions I or my kids have asked always have had a tinge of annoyance or bother. Today was the last straw. Anyone who's been following the Doomsday Clock series knows its release "schedule" has been infrequent and wonky. I've picked up the majority of issues in this series from this shop. I was away visiting family on the opposite coast when DC #12 hit the shelves so I thought I'd give it a shot there might be a copy available here, totaling expecting other wouldn't be. And there wasn't one, so I wasn't surprised. I asked the worker (not the one who was price labeling back issues; she at least smiled) if they expected any additional copies of DC #12 in the next weeks. She mumbled something, I asked her to repeat what she said, and she seemed bothered. Something to the effect their distributor hadn't yet notified them if/when, etc. But it was the demeanor of her response that bothered me the most; bothered and upset. She didn't offer to take my name, number, etc. to contact me in the event they would get extra copies at a later date. No attempt at customer service in this interaction...which has been my experience with her over the years. Again, not a surprise. I asked myself, Why do you continue to give this place your business when you're made to feel this way? So I decided to drive a few miles north in Tacoma to a different small business comic shop. It too was out of DC #12 but, unsolicited mind you, was told they expected additional copies at some point. He asked if I didn't mind waiting while he found out when, which I didn't mind. He found out, told me, asked if I wanted a copy saved for me when it arrived, asked me for my name and number to text me...this shop knows how to do it right! Sorry Atomic Comics...in my 45+ years of collecting comics I've seen shops come and go, and the reason why many "go" is because their customer service stinks. If I want to deal with cold robots I'd order stuff online. But I believe in supporting local, small businesses that treat their customers with mindful intent. It will be worth the extra time and miles to travel to this north Tacoma shop from now on. read more

I love going here when my new comics are released, they know me by name out of the hundreds of customers they get each day/week, they even know my pull file number by heart, I mean come on.. when that happens, you just feel warm and fuzzy inside. But honestly, I've gotten great advice from Shane and patience as well, i started off with more ideas in mind than i had money for, and i have slowly come down to reality, but he helps me stay on top of my titles, and asks if I'd like to try a title he'd think I would like, or if he has something in the back he knows i would like, he asks me. Great atmosphere and great selection, if you feel like this store is under stocked, i want you to ask shane if he can keep an eye out for a comic you are looking for, he will always do his best to reel it in, and even put it in your file if he finds it. Definitely recommend this place to anyone even remotely interested in this kind of thing. read more

I've been out of the loop for a while with my comic book collecting. I've been moving a lot, but when I finally settled down, got married and had a baby I've picked up my super hero collecting again. Atomic Comics has a great selection of unique clothing items, figures, statues and a great selection of comics. They are very accommodating to what ever someone is looking for and will go out of there way to help who ever needs it. Great store and great people. A solid comic shop. A touch on the small side, for my taste. Selection of back issues (my personal main focus at this point in time) was somewhat lacking, but not unacceptable by any means. Good place if you're trying to get into comics, or just trying to keep up with new issues. read more
