Stopped in here just to peruse and stroll, but ended up leaving with 3 books that I am so excited about!!! Don't be fooled by the size of the store! I admittedly felt that it was small and limited in options, but I asked someone on staff for suggestions and I'm so glad I did! The team is incredibly knowledgeable so if you have something you want (for me I wanted wlw fantasy preferably with dragons), they are happy to point you in several right directions :) Also didn't spend as much as I thought I would on 3 books, so that was a pleasant surprise! This store is smaller and has a more limited selection compared to others. However, parking is free, which is a plus. I also heard that a new store is opening in Bellevue Square Mall--looking forward to checking it out and hoping it offers a larger, cozier shopping experience. read more

I love barnes and noble! I also like how this location is spacious-- I recently went to the one in Bellevue Square mall that just opened and the energy there was pretty great, but the aisles were super narrow. This one is very comfortable to walk around and browse. I appreciate there being some chairs to relax and read in as well. I haven't purchased books here much (because I got into using the library) but I've bought games/wrapping paper/journals/etc, and generally enjoy browsing it when I walk through Crossroads. [It's also fun that apparently, this area really likes to read? There's a library connection, a half-price books, AND a b&n, all within 100 ft of each other? Amazing.) read more

Why is the rating for this Barnes & Noble only 3.4? It's awesome. The place is gigantic, like the Bellevue downtown store, or the Seattle downtown store, or the Borders in Redmond town center. It has every section that I remember them to have back in the good ole days. I love these giant book stores. I feel like a kid in a candy store, especially now they have an enhanced manga section, YA section, and games! The light color palettes of silver and white-washed oak (replacing dark green and dark brown) paired with good lighting gives a brightened look and feel. It's been a long while since I have been inside Crossroads Mall, but I just found a new reason to wander inside. Woot! I didn't need service for this visit, so no inputs on that. I did see staff working on the floor, so I assume it would not be a problem. Excellent book store! The store is well laid out and a nice option at the crossroads mall. I have been to several B &N and this one is top tier. Store is clean, staff is friendly and of course as a book lover, you get it all here. Definitely will be back and while there isn't a Starbucks in the store, there are pretty good options around the mall. read more

Wow. I was so impressed by this bookstore. Great selection of books that are displayed well. Multiple books, records, games, and toys are displayed throughout the store and the displays are well done. They had a pretty good Lego selection that was very well displayed. They also had a D&D selection that was well displayed. One of the larger Menga selections I've seen. I'm not into some of this stuff but the fact that they have it is cool. The book selection is impressive. I've been in much larger bookstores that don't have as good a selection. Throughout the store you'll find staff picks with an explanation of what makes the book special. I'm not sure if I visited on a typical day but there were tons of families in the store, and lots of people browsing the shelves (but not overcrowded). Layout was well done. A good amount of people but lots of personal space. Lighting was great. People were nice. I got the impression the employees loved books. FWIW, I went back and looked at some of the other three-star reviews to see what other people thought. Someone comments that some of the books were damaged. IMHO, the books were in great condition. I did notice a $140 Tom Ford book wrapped in plastic that was damaged but kudos to Barnes & Noble for investing in a selection of higher end books and displaying them. I looked at over 20+ books and they were in perfect condition. Someone else mentioned the lighting was dim. They must have fixed that because the lighting seemed great to me. Someone else gave five stars and comments, "why is the rating only 3.4, this place is awesome." Well said. I agree. Book stores are an important part of any thriving neighborhood and our community. Something we tend to take for granted. We should all make a point to visit them more often. I'll be visiting this one more often now that I know how nice it is. read more

Located in the back of a strip mall with half price books as competitor. This place is very organized. Albeit small. There are many titles to choose from and easy to find books. There was a good clearance section right by the YA section. Attentive staff, although they are hardly at their station, mostly helping people in the aisles. Lots of buy one get half off deals. Definitely a quiet place to peruse. I wonder when will BN make a buy one get one deal? read more

I'll be honest - I am surprised this store is still here. It seems like every two years some large development company buys the land that this Barnes & Noble sits and details some illustrious plan for a major construction project. Then nothing happens. Many other Barnes & Noble stores have closed around the area but this one still persists. So, I am surprised it is still here but grateful. And maybe it's why the store feels a bit worn. It feels like people are doing what they can to get by and keep it pleasant without much else. The lights are oddly low making it a rather dim store. I also noted a sign that said they were limiting the number of people inside but I am not sure how and to what limited number. There was no maximum capacity sign and no employee was keeping count so not really sure how they were limiting capacity. They had a nice selection of books from what I could see. We found what we were looking for and then we checked out and left. It was a fairly standard trip. read more

Wonderful to see the Barnes and Noble located in the Crossroads Shopping Center. Terrific layout, small nooks where people young and old can get lost in the selections. I picked up music and a daily planner for myself, plus I found gifts for others. I always find something to pick up here. read more

This Barnes and Nobles location is one of my favorite I've come across in the Washington area. Like many other reviews I came in here to kill time before a dinner reservation and ended up staying for a couple of hours! The Barnes and Nobles is so homey, it transported me right back to my childhood hanging out at the local Barnes and Noble reading magazines with my sister, looking at cook book recipes, and having walls lined with novelty books like manga. There are always a few open seating areas, and we were lucky enough to come during a time there were large couches open! The staff is super friendly but not invasive and I really appreciated that as I curled up on the couch with a stack full of books and was left alone in peace. A lot of good sales that seem to go on, on a weekly basis and a lot of variety. While this Barnes is in a strip mall that has a parking attendant, you can get your PARKING VALIDATED for free even if you don't leave with a purchase. They are just happy to have you there. read more

Stopped into this B&N originally just to use the restroom, but I ended up buying something... When we stepped in this B&N, I noticed two things - it's HUGE, for one. Second, it's kind of gloomy in here? The lights aren't that bright, so it creates a really dim lighting in here and isn't all that cheery. Kind of makes you want to nap and curl up with a good book. So, maybe that's what they're going for after all. One thing that really impressed me about this place is that I saw (from signage on the doors) that both the women's AND men's restrooms had child changing stations inside. So cool!! It's always a little off-putting seeing places that don't supply men's restrooms with those same amenities. Staff was nice and honest upon questioning. We were looking for some pens, but she let us know we were better off going somewhere else because their pens were like $15 and up. Ya girl had to hard pass on that one. Always love me a good B&N and this location is solid. read more

I've been a loyal customer from opening day. Even had the pleasure of meeting Dolly Parton the first year at her signing. Always helpful and educated staff. But today, Black Friday, something sobering occurred. Since Corp. instituted the signed books promo I used the opportunity to secure signed books to not only use it for family, friends gifts but, I purchased for my educational non -profit to distribute to families. The Bellevue manager retired last year. I was walking to the register, several titles I had multi copies. Mathew M. I Believe I had 5. I was instructed by a young man informing me it was only 1 copy per person per title. No posted signage. No media or PR stating limits. I attempted to educate the young man, manager my purpose. B&N is a retail outlet. Mission is to sell...with respectful customer service. Not assign judgement or discriminate. I went to the parking lot; called the next closest B&N outlet. "No purchase limits" in signed copies. No restrictions. No implied bias; per Corp intent. The Bellevue gentleman/mgr. misrepresented Corp. policy of a 1 per person policy. Corp. office is interested in competing with Amazon. Not a social justice retail mission. Records will reveal I spend over 1K a year. 15 plus years at this location. I am the States Jefferson Award winner. For an employee to deliberately misrepresent a promotion is counterproductive for a retail mission...., rewarding my 15 plus years of loyalty at the Bellevue location. Disappointing overreach: misrepresenting a limited policy on Black Friday promo. My purchased celebrity books would have found a goodwill respected home. read more

This location is really nice and spacious. However, a lot of the books on the shelves are damaged (dusk jacket has rips, covers are bent, pages are bent, etc.). If I'm going to spend money on books, I want them in good condition. read more

A good-sized B&N. Much better than the one in Issaquah or at Crossroads shopping center , but maybe not quite as nice or convenient as the one in Woodinville. The parking lot is a pain, but at least they have a lot in the middle of Bellevue. Well-stocked, clean, although why the B&N stores up here have no train tables for the kids to play with beats me...as others have noted, it does seem like they don't want you to stick around. A missed opportunity imo. We like to come to this location because there is so much good food in Bellevue. A trip to the bookstore for the kids with a delicious lunch afterwards for the adults. read more

Barnes & Noble is a great bookstore chain overall, sadly though, the Bellevue location is one of those locations that gives the entire chain a bad name. The store has a very dark, depressing (which Barnes and Noble does validate for). The store without question shows it age and the fact little if any upgrades have been made. What is most frustrating though is the service that was experienced at the service desk. The associate working at the desk clearly did not care about his job, his customers nor want to be at work. He did not apologize for the wait, did not seem truly interested in helping and when the book I inquired about was not there he simple said we cant stock everything you can order it or get the nook version. The clerks attitude is why I will not return to Barnes n Noble. The price would have been double that of Amazon.com so I could have ordered it from Amazon, PAID for next day air shipment and still comeout around the same price and purchased from a business who cares. This is the prime example of how one associate can kill a business image. read more

I love B&N. I can ALWAYS find something I want and they have a great selection. I like the fact that it's an actual store that I can go into and find cool books I didn't even know existed. The store has just recently opened after being closed due to Covid19 so it was pretty quiet. We were greeted pleasantly when we walked in and roamed the stacks for a while. As we approached the youth section (I was with my tween) we were approached by an employee. I feel terrible for not remembering his name, but what a great staff member. He spoke to both of us with enthusiasm suggesting some titles after getting an idea of what my daughter enjoyed reading. He was pleasant, fun and knowledgeable without being overbearing or pushy. We are loving the selections. He made the visit a great experience!!! read more

This Barnes and Noble is rather large and located conveniently close to the Bellevue Transit Center. The browsing experience is a lot better here than the one at Pacific Place. The whole time I was browsing, I didn't have security guards breathing down my back, and the environment is just a lot more open here. It's also connected to a Starbucks so you don't even have to go outside. read more

Jeesus, this place is huge. Wandered in here last night with the thought of sitting and chatting over coffee with Don in the attached Starbuck's before the Eastside HH. I've never been here before, but BFF-Keo used to hang out here on a regular basis when she still lived in civilization. Sadly, from her descriptions, I had thought the Starbuck's would be bigger. It wasn't and it was pretty packed, so we wandered around B&N hoping to find comfortable seating there. The few chairs there were were either full or single and not comfy. The only available seating was the benches in the little Children's 'theater' area in the corner. Not exactly what I had in mind to promote relaxation and a nice time to talk. So, even though we ended up sitting in the car in the parking lot to find comfort to talk, I have to say this B&N is pretty cool. They have "pay" parking in this lot now. Starbuck's validates with purchase and limits you to an hour, however B&N does not require a purchase or give a time limit on validation. The store was well laid out in the standard B&N fashion, and the additional movie/music room in the back seemed a popular draw. read more

What happened to the world of bookstores? I was at a Barnes & Noble in NJ purchasing children's books for my two year old toddler recently. I had a fantastic experience there with helpful staff and a generally good experience. My experience at this store is an example of the downward spiral that many retailers are facing. The store is huge and well stocked, but the staff was sparse and unhelpful. I had a list of books I was looking for, and there was nobody in the children's section for the longest time. When some did show up, she was on the phone and looking very busy and annoyed. She walked by me twice without once greeting me. Wow, do retailers not train their staff so that each one is a greater? I guess not at this B&N. After struggling through searching for books on my own, I finally had enough and took my purchases to the cashier. Great, one cashier with five people in line. There were a bunch of at least three sales people manning a booth at the front of the store trying to convince people to buy a Nook as they were offering a $20 discount. How bizarre is that? Instead of helping customers who have gone to your store...a book store...the resources are focused on a device that gets people out of the store. All this was topped off buy the slow and indifferent cashier that rung me up. I had a significant purchase and placed my basket on the counter. For an awkward 10 seconds the cashier just stared at me...expressionless and vapid...finally she sighed in a monotone, "I guess you'd like me to ring these up." I really did not know what to say, seriously? If any managers read this, this is a poorly managed retailer. Go talk to head office and get some training on how to effectively mange your store. read more

I love a feeling of instant gratification, so when a book I saw on amazon.com and bn.com was available at this location I took a break right away and headed over to grab it. It was a nice walk in the sun to the store, but that was about it. The arrangement of the books leaves much to be desired. I had to go to customer service to ask the location of a book. As I walked up to the desk, with no other customers there, the woman tapping away on the computer didn't acknowledge me for about 30 seconds. That may not seem like a long time, but I am used to walking up to a counter, and even if the person is busy... at least get an acknowledgement of my presence and an "I'll be right with you". I had the title pulled up on my phone, as it was long and I didn't know the way their search works, but was tersely told, we only need the title. I felt like my hand had been virtually slapped away. Mind you, all of this was done with body language that was screaming contempt. She must have known what was coming when I went to checkout. So, I got the book and went to checkout. In the meantime, while I was searching for the book I came for, I found another book and picked it up to buy. I also found a little chotchkie and had that for purchase as well. As I walked up to the counter, I was greeted by asking for my phone number... and then when I didn't want to give it for the rewards program, I was asked where I usually shop (amazon) for books. All downhill from there. I still had my phone out with the book listing on screen and when the book was rung for full price I asked if they matched their website. Oh no, I didn't! After inquiring whether bn.com and barnes & noble were the same company (they are), the stores don't honor the online price. Um. And beware of the bait and switch if you chose the pick-up in store option, even though it is shown with the online price on the book detail pages. I was told that this was because people physically handle the book and put it on the shelves. Understand, I am fully willing to pay full price. I wasn't even haggling over the other book I had brought to checkout. It has already been a long story, but to sum it up. They were willing to lose a sale over $8 and an unwillingness to match a price that they have online with their own website. Even if I wasn't the only person asking for an adjustment that day, I got an extra book and item that I wasn't even planning on getting, which value wise was twice as much than the book I was going to buy. I walked out, whole sale for them gone, went right on to amazon and bought both books. Guess I'll have to wait, but at least I get better service and integrity with them. read more

It is nice looking but what is that overpowering and offensive smell throughout the store? I hate it. Also, the parking lot is weird and difficult, but I imagine they're aware they will be losing this location soon given the surroundings so why invest in a parking lot update. I LOVE books, and I LOVE book stores. but I have mixed feelings about this B&N store. The pros: They have a humongous selection of books. The store is large and well-organized. There is a ample room to walk the aisles (good circulation in the floor plan). There's a Starbucks next door. They have nicely-packaged Godiva chocolates and a nice - albeit small - home decor/gift selection. Today when I was there they were offering free gift wrapping on all purchases (not sure if they offer this all the time. Sweet!). There's a nice kiddie area with tons of books and toys and activity kits. Lots of bargain-priced remainder books. Decent music section. And, something that I always notice, clean and well-stocked bathrooms! The cons: no chairs to sit and relax in. It's as if they don't want you to linger long. (I miss my Borders store in Redmond! They had lots of seating areas and stuffed chairs to relax in, browse through books, linger. Ah, so sad it's gone!). The parking lot is awful. A guy leaving hurriedly nearly hit me, navigating around the parking attendant booth. And, they insist you pay for your music before leaving the music section of the store! I went to buy a CD for my kid today and I had to pay for it before re-entering the book section of the store! I didn't want to make multiple purchases in the store - only one! - so I didn't even look at books and toys as I left the store. If I had been allowed to bring the CD in the store basket I was carrying back in the book section, I definately would have purchased more items and just made one stop at the cashier counter at the front of the store. I was really surprised at this ridiculous policy. I'm sure other people, like me, aren't making more purchases because of this rule. This is a good store. I'd say it's a very good store. But it's not a great store. There is definately room for improvement. read more

Don't go to this book store. The parking is a scam! They give you a parking ticket, you go into the Barns and Noble to shop, get your ticket validated. You think everything is fine when you hand your ticket to the parking attendant, who takes your ticket. Then they say, "$10 please", and charge you for a 'lost ticket'. The manager in the Barns and Noble will not help because they do not control parking. To sum it up. Don't go to the Barns and Noble at 626 106th Ave NE Bellevue, WA. I went in looking for a pack of baseball cards while on my lunch break at work. A very kind lady named "Rosemary" helped me and rung my items up. While she was ringing me up, I asked her if she had any good book recommendation. Rosemary then walked with me around the store giving me synopsis's and run downs of her favorite books. She took the time to explain everything I needed to know about each novel if I was to purchase one. She provided truly amazing customer service. I will be returning to buy more books that come from her recommendations. Thanks Rosemary!! read more

This is one of the remaining Barnes & Noble, which works great for me because I'm a BN member and it's walking distance from my apartment. I also like that this BN has the music/video department, and the staff there always seem to be willing to help. The layout is easy to navigate around. But if you're looking for particular books, they may not have it. They have all the major works, but usually just in one or two editions. I love coming here during the holidays because they always have a nonprofit that comes in, to gift-wrap your items for a donation. read more

I wandered into this B&N to pick up a phrasebook and some gift cards. I grabbed a few candidates for the phrasebook and wandered over to the cafe to have a coffee and ponder my options. Unfortunately, I couldn't, because there was a sign prohibiting carrying un-purchased items into the cafe. No problem I thought, I'll just grab a coffee and go sit in the bookstore to think about what I want. Unfortunately, that wasn't a good option because there were almost no chairs in the store, and the ones that I did find had no place to safely place a beverage. I used to like the brick & mortar bookstore / coffee shop concept because you could drink coffee and think about buying books, at the same time. I guess that is no more. Just one more reason to shop on line or do my reading and browsing at the library. read more

I still shop here on occasion, but I am getting more and more disenchanted with the Barnes and Noble chain. Good things: There is a Starbucks next door, so nice to get some caffeine buzz before I shop for books. The store is open late (til 11pm) which is also great, when I'm busy and dont have time to shop until later in the day. Bad: The configuarion of the parking lot is tight, and a little hard to navigate. Inside, there are not enough chairs to sit on, chill-ax and peruse books. They took away some chairs, and now I must lean on a table (I have a bad back and need to sit or lean or I am in mondo pain). WORST: They changed their return/exchange policy 1 year ago, and now if you dont have a receipt they would just as soon have you arrested as let you exchange a book. Currently, you must have the receipt and can only return a book in a two week period. IF you have gift receipt, you can exchange the book for store credit only for two months, then "TOO BAD, you OWN it". Also, you may no longer return/exchange a book you bought on their internet web site, to the bricks and mortar store. That is not very customer service friendly. So at times I still shop here.... they are big, have a good selection, etc.-- but I have since switched much of my business 3 blocks away to the University Book Store, near QFC. They are a locally owned business, have a wonderful selection of not only books but gift items, and the staff are way nicer. They also will exchange a book when you HAVE NO RECEIPT if it is in new condition, and is something they carry. Barnes and Noble just got too big for their britches. Sorry, B&N. Plus parking in their lot is a hassle if you happen to lose your parking ticket -- they will make you pay the whole day rate! read more

B& N is always one of my preferred haunts. Books, music, movies, caffeine and snacks all under one roof, what's not to like! I ventured into this one recently in Bellevue. The general lay out is what is expected with the exception of the cafe section which is seperate from the actual retail floor space. And, no unpaid merchandise is allowed in the cafe. I can see why they do this, probably to scare off the non-paying lay-abouts dog earing all of their magazines, graphic novels and newly displayed Harry Potter or Twilight novels. Another twist here is that you have to pay for parking in their lot. There is validation for one hour with a purchase. I, being the clueless wonder, sat there for hours and hours working on my lap top and had to fork out 15 bones even after the 1-hour validation I got with my pumpkin latte purchase..OUCH! So, beware of that little caveat my friends. read more

I love books. As a writer, I love researching autobiographies, and authors of contemporary classics. Bonus: this store closes at 11PM on a weeknight. You have to get your ticket validated, I remember a friend lost his ticket and the parking attendant made him pay for the full day. Ouch. Everything in the 'burbs closes early! You can't find a coffee shop thats open past 9PM. Anyway, I've been coming here since about 2003, and I've honestly NEVER been able to find a chair. NEVER. Granted, there's only 4 or 5 comfy chairs, I end up browsing books and reading though potential purchases while standing. Last night, I actually went into the kid's section to see if they had chairs, and sat on a bench for about 30 mins, browsing through 6 books I wanted to buy (I'm not spending over $100 on books, we're in a recession!) but I felt like a little funny when some mom brought her 3 kids in the section - like those old men they prey on kids. I always love my experience at this Barnes and Noble. I get a cup of Starbucks when I first get there, and then walk around drinking coffee and looking at all the books. It's a very relaxing environment, especially during the day, and they have a lot of cute knick knacks, journals, office supplies, etc. that I love as well. I don't buy books from here very often, because of the price, but they do have a great selection, and I can get an idea of what I want to purchase later. Also, they have Godiva, which saves me a trip to the mall when I need to pick up a quick gift. read more

Barnes & Noble is a great book store to shop for books. It's kinda like the Amazon Book Store in Bellevue Square Mall, but this one is more spacious and non Amazon related that much. This location has a spacious inside and lots of close parking in the parking lot. Staff are friendly and service is fine, would recommend. read more
