Bellevue Silver Platter gets 10 stars for having a Metal section. And it's well-stocked. SoDo store does not have such a section (which is shameful). Overall this store has a very large inventory of CDs and DVD. I'm not a vinyl user but it seems SoDo location has quite a bit more vinyl than Bellevue. Staff here are knowledgeable and courteous. This is the closest record store to me and I'd come in every couple of weeks. I have an account and have purchased multiple vinyls from here. They are very strict on their policy of if you open a vinyl, you cannot return it which I understand. Ran into a situation where the record label was claiming a vinyl was "Purple Nebula" color, but I'd seen reports of it being Blue. I asked the employee at Silver Platters if for this one time they could open the vinyl to confirm prior to me purchasing, I was told no. I could buy the Vinyl and if the color was wrong, I could resell it to them for less than I purchased. I'm not sure why a store would be comfortable selling items to a customer when they have an inaccurate description. Note, even the tag on the back of the vinyl says purple nebula. Overall, I only give them stars because they sell music and have free posters when you walk in. Employees act like asking them for help is a burden. Go to a record store where they actually care, and want to help out those who collect vinyls. read more

Came in to sell some vinyl that I don't listen to. Great experience. The selling process was easy and quick. Prices I got were reasonable, especially for store credit. We then used some of the credit to shop for DVDs. They have a huge, I mean HUGE, selection of DVDs, CDs and vinyl. Staff is available to help if needed. Will definitely be back. Silver Platters - Time to rebuild the library - Vinyl Records Near Me - Bellevue, Washington

Record stores are becoming harder to find. Nowadays if you want to buy music, you have to either buy it from an online music store or from a big box store like Best Buy, Target or Walmart. While there are still a few independent music stores in Seattle, the options on the Eastside are much more limited. The only store with a decent selection is this Silver Platters store in Bellevue. There used to be a Silver Platters close by to my house at Crossroads, but this store moved to the Northtowne Shopping Center which is north of Downtown Bellevue early last year. This part of Bellevue is primarily residential, aside from this shopping center. As a result, there isn't really much foot traffic in the area. It is pretty much a location you would need to drive to. Fortunately there is a sizable parking lot. The selection here consists of music and movies. This includes new and used CDs and vinyl. Their prices on new music releases are competitive with Amazon. Though they tend to be a dollar or two higher here. The store has a great website in which you check the price on a particular item as well as if it is in stock. You can also buy directly from the website if you prefer home delivery. Ambiance inside this store is pretty low key. You can browse in peace here. The layout was a little confusing at first. The music is arranged by genre and then alphabetically. I was looking for the new Flume album here and wasn't sure where to find it. I checked the pop/rock section before finally finding it in the electronic section. The other thing that stuck me about the layout was that the new releases were placed in the back right side of the store which seems odd. I think it makes more sense to arrange it closer to the front of the store or near the registers. Given that the Best Buy in Bellevue has shrunk their music section over the last few years, I can safely say that this Silver Platters store has the best selection on the Eastside. If you can't wait to get your hands on a new album, I would check here if they have it before looking elsewhere. read more

I went with my little sister early afternoon on Thursday 5/02 to shop for CD's and vinyls. There was a sign on the entrance.that said to check all bags at the front desk. I have a tiny Jansport backpack that I use as a bag that holds a phone, wallet, keys, and a few other small items, so I didn't think it would be an issue. One of the employees asked for my bag which was fine. What wasn't fine was then proceeding to follow myself and my little sister around the store the entirety of the time we were there like we were planning on stealing. Wasn't the whole point of taking my bag to make your establishment feel less threatened by what you deemed was a potential shoplifter? I purposely left without purchasing anything and bought everything I was planning on buying on Amazon for half the price. I've been shopping at Silver Platters for years because I love physical media and the environment/vibes the establishment gives off. But I can honestly say I'll probably never go back after this experience because it was so off putting. And specifically to the young female employee with the short black hair who felt it necessary to follow us around, one, I wasn't planning on stealing your severely over-priced merchandise. And two, you probably felt like you thwarted off a shoplifter, when really all you did was cost your business money and a long time customer. Hope it was worth it! read more

While I like the selection of vinyls,cds, and videos here I have to agree with the other reviews that disliked the experience they had with the management of this particular Silver Platters. While shopping here over the weekend I witnessed a very uncomfortable interaction between the manager and a mother over the way the manager dealt with the mother's child. The police even were called and the manager, in my opinion, was at best unnecessarily defensive and at worst belligerent to the officer. I didn't stay to watch the entire interaction. I had just come from shopping at the Lynnwood Silver Platters and had a very positive experience at that store. Being in retail myself I can attest to the fact that the overall vibe of a place often comes down to management and the example they set for their employees, and they way they treat customers. I would like to shop at the Bellevue Silver Platters again and I'll give them another chance. Just not right away! read more

The prices are good, and the selection is usually pretty good, especially if I'm just looking for the more mainstream stuff. Staff is fine, not over the top friendly but doing their job. I came here for the first time a week ago when my little sister and I had breakfast nearby. She mentioned that there used to be one in Crossroads Mall that she used to frequent, to listen to music. So, we decided to check it out and I still can't believe how close this is to me and that I've never been before. I love the variety and range of music here. I'm not into pop music, so for any CDs of bands and musicians that I like I usually have to special order because it won't be sold at places like Best Buy, Target, etc... But here at Silver Platters, they had such an awesome selection of music and many used CDs are less than five bucks! There are also some scanners where you can scan an album and hear it first before buying, which is something that many stores used to have before everyone switched to iTunes. Glad to know that they still have it here, as I like to discover new musicians. There was one independent hip hop band's CD I was looking for and it has been difficult to find anywhere, even online. I asked the cashier if she was able to look up if they had any stock and she mentioned that there was one used CD at their Lynnwood store, yet she could order it to the Bellevue store for free. She got my contact information and said that they'd call me once the CD was there, but I asked if they would be able to e-mail me instead since I check that more frequently, which she said she could. It took less than a week for the store to e-mail me, notifying me that they had my special order there. Really glad this place is in Bellevue, as I now will shop here for music! read more

Great, clean and bright place to look for CD and LPs. Had been shopping at many Silverplater stores before, now at Bellevue store adjacent to QFC. Nice helpful staff, and there are lots of LP and CD with reasonable prices. They even brought in some LPs from their other stores that I can pick up at this store. Good collection of new LPs. I have spent over $250 in vinyl at silverplatters the last couple weeks. And I'm a regular before the covid thing. Never had a single issue untill today. Bought a $30 re issue of"iggy and the stooges raw power". The records are both a little warped and the center hole is not centered on the record. So I called and told them of the issue and they said "no problem" they brought another copy in from the Seattle store and told me I could exchange the record for a new one. When I tried to swap the record today I asked if they could check out the new one and make sure it did not have the same problem. That's when the trouble started. The guy in the back took my original copy and disappeared. When he came back he told me the records were fine and that all records are a little out or center and warped. After giving me grief for a awhile I finally got an exchange. He got me so upset I think I won't be going back. I try to support my local record stores but it's not worth it. I never thought I'd say this, but here it is: I miss records. I miss the quality of the sounds, I miss the album art, and I miss browsing through record stores while discovering something new playing in the store. I was very happy to discover there is still a record store left, even if it's tucked in the back of a nondescript strip mall next to a supermarket. It doesn't matter. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the store have a small but good selection. Records have become a niche, specialty item, so prices are higher than "back in the day" - but not outrageously so, mostly - unless you happen to be looking at a new boxed set of something special, like Bowie at the Beeb, which was playing while we were there. There were lots of fun items, like picture discs and colored vinyl. My daughter found plenty to suit her taste and spend her birthday money on - The Beatles' double white, a little Nirvana, a little Ellie Goulding. Mom found plenty of ways to relive a well spent youth (Dead Kennedys, anyone?). The store is bright, clean, and well-organized, and a fun way to discover, or rediscover, some great music. The friendly employee and the speed with which he found and obtained the record was impressive. The store itself is a dream for music lovers, whether digital or vinyl and even cassettes. RULE ONE of any record store is MERCHANDISING first category-don't put so many albums in a space that you can't browse. This ridiculous process rarely done by the great record stores is INSANE it just frustrates people and (as I did) you give up and leave. Back to MR personality in blue hair. The retail record store industry, which I know very well, relies heavily on customer interaction and spending your time tryouts nag to help people make purchases by making suggestions or get them interested in trying new music. To not say a SINGLE WORD TO ANY CUSTOMER is insane. The owner should take note. You have money walking out the door because your people and that includes everyone that was here today at 3:00. Brought in some CDs, Blu-Rays, and Vinyls to sell since the website advertises "top dollar for your used [gear]!". I brought in 57 CDs, a handful of them autographed and one new in wrapping, and 3 vinyls either unopened and signed. Plus six Blu-ray DVDs. They priced out my stuff and started moving my stuff into different stacks around the store before giving me their offer: $38 cash or $57 store credit. WTF? What I wanted my items back? If I didn't have my own catalogued list it would be super easy for them to swipe items. Honestly if they hadn't started moving my shit on me I would have taken the signed items, vinyls, and DVDs back, but what are you going to do? If I had more time to sell each CD by myself individually or as a lot on OfferUp or Craigslist it's definitely smarter to go that route. What a ripoff. I really enjoy this shop. The people working there are always nice, and they don't bother.you if they can see you're browsing through the vinyl. The main guy, pretty sure he's the manager, is quiet, but really cool once you start talking with him. He ordered a box set for me, and quoted me a price. When it showed up, the price was quite a bit more, but he made sure I paid the price he quoted me at, which was a good $50 cheaper. read more
