I am happy I did because I found some really cool 7inch singles here (see photos) to bring back home to Austin with me. Walking in to Fat Cat Records I immediately loved the vibe in here. It really feels like you are walking into a friends top-of-the-hill apartment to hang and look through their record collection in a super welcoming place. I really loved the overlook down off the street and neighborhood of N. Stone Way. You will find cassettes, CDs, 45 singles, books, and all mediums amongst new and collector's issues and selections. You definitely want to come in here and be curious because you WILL find something unique. Here is what I found and brought back: - I Got You Babe by Sonny and Cher (45 single) - Only the Lonely by Roy Orbison (45 single) -Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee (45 single) - King Tut by Steve Martin - a rare Modest Mouse 7inch (white vinyl) Pricing is excellent for what I got and everything was fantastically in good shape especially for the ones I found that are from the 1950-1960s. Many of the singles had typed out/inventory markings on them too which makes me wonder where they were before showing up to this cool record store?!?! My friend got some pretty rad and rare vinyl too! Everyone was super impressed by the selection they had here. This record store will be a must when I come back again next year for conference things.

CDs are organized by genre etc. Staff is friendly and even asked if I needed help finding anything last visit and the team member was able to help me find my CD in less than 10 seconds! All CDs I have bought here look practically brand new with no scratches all at a good price which is awesome. Love the location with a free parking lot, close to the bus lines, and right next to Dick's Burgers. I like to stop here after grabbing some food from Dick's and sipping on my chocolate shake while I sift through everything. I recommend and I will definitely return!

Comply with the store requirement to wear masks while onsite. Street parking can be a challenge, especially with the nearby Climate Change Arena. If you like to truly browse, give yourself a minimum of an hour. Just make sure to pay attention as parking enforcement is out and about. Royal Records have an decent collection of 45/33.3 vinyl, cassettes, CDs, VHS, laser discs, and DVDs. Nice bright shop, welcoming staff and well organized. There are new and used/discounted merch. Looks like you can also sell and trade items onsite. It was duly noted that CDs are not displayed title side up. Quirky observation as I thumbed through cases A through Z. The Homie and I both found an eclectic collection of items. It is a nice addition to the indie music and film retail scene in Seattle. Nice diversion while in Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood!

Staff was informative and helpful, as I was curious about some of the vinyl records, I've collected, from my younger days (yes! I'm that old. Lol ) also from my parents, some great late sixties and early seventies music, and my sister(past) more late seventies and early eighties music. And sone recently gifted music from a sweet redhead. They informed me that, bringing in some of the rarities I've collected, they can help, evaluate it's worth. Lots of fun, reminiscing about the record stores of the seventies and eighties. I was holding a SMALL PAPER BAG. I get it, theft is a serious thing, but there's a nicer way to approach a customer, specially it being my first time there. So, I was thrilled when I found that, not only did the stores still exist, but they had a Lynnwood location when I was in that part of the metro Seattle area. It was fantastic to be able to browse a huge collection of music and movies, and find great titles at wonderful prices. On the music side of things, they had loads of used titles, and I was exstatic to see how many new discs they had in stock. I asked at the counter if they had a section for SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc) music, a format that has always been a niche product, and has very few titles being released any more. The person behind the counter not only knew what I was talking about, but he apologized for not having a separate section for these discs, and told me I would find them mixed in with everything else by the same artists. I am very much looking forward to my next visit to the Seattle area, and being able to browse some more.

I returned a record as it was skipping right on the first track. None of my other records that I bought previously not only from here, but from other record stores did not have that issue. I spoke to a man that I think was a manager or something, I was explaining what happened and he immediately judged my record player for being on the cheap end that's why my record was skipping. He asked another question if my speakers were built in, as that can also cause it to skip? I'm not new to this. But to use my record player as an excuse to why the record was skipping was insulting. I told him that none of my other records were doing it, so they need to replace it, in which they did. Guess what? The new copy DID NOT SKIP! So that crosses off my record player as the reason. I did not appreciate that kind of talk. Will I be back? Yes, I think so. But that left a bad taste in my mouth.
