Have been here twice and also purchased from them on Discogs. Great shop, easy browsing. Great new and used selection. Hit it up, you won't walk out empty handed(prices are average).

It's a good store and if I'm in the area, sure, I'll stop in. But the prices are seemingly very high.

By far one of the best record stores I've visited in Seattle. The shop itself is well decorated, the music they play is well-picked, and the staff was friendly and helpful. They have a wide selection of newer vinyls, but used ones in good condition as well. They don't overcharge too much and sell a few other useful things (LP covers, slip mats, vinyl cleaning solution, cool merch, magazines etc.). Will definitely be a regular here.

Halsey and Mark Lanegan....that's different (11/21/17)

I was a bit early for a dinner engagement elsewhere in Ballard and thankfully the rain let up for a bit! (11/21/17) So I decided to walk over to Sonic Boom to kill some time. Smallish store with a low key, chill counter person. Wandering around, this shop may be tiny, but it is packed full of variety in the used and new CDs and even vinyl! I bought two new CDs from Halsey and Mark Lanegan Band. The latter from the founder of Screaming Trees and was featured in the recent Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown Seattle episode on 11/19/17.

I walked in expecting to hunt for a set of records on my list, but there was a group of people blocking a section i wished to view. At first I was mildly frustrated, but then realized I was now in the crowd of a small concert. Live music and restricted sections made me look a bit harder in the areas not blocked. I found a wonderful album behind the register that I've never seen in person for a reasonable price. Excellent place, excellent atmosphere, and plenty of music!

Great local business with a huge section. This is one of the great record stores of Seattle. If they don't have what you want, they can get it. I bought my favorite Agalloch album here. Fuck Amazon and big box places, SHOP LOCAL!

Unfriendly jerk, no smiles despite buying lots of records there. Recommend trying other stores, like daybreak

One of the best local spots to hit for a large selection of new and classic albums on vinyl. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable.

Nice record store. Great staff. My only wish is that they would combine new and used material by artist.

Sup Pop started it all in Seattle!…read more Thank god a SUP POP store is now located in downtown Seattle, I need a place to actually view, smell, taste & purchase vinyl. Now before I rant and rave anymore it must be said without certain bands in Seattle before Sup Pop started, there would be no Sup Pop, so it's time these bands get a shout out for being the original Seattle scene: TKO CULPRIT OVERLORD  ( Grunge before Grunge ) The Heats The Cowboys Shadow The Wild Dogs (Portland Band) I'm sure I left out a few but without these bands you would have Pearl Jam, Mother Love Bone or Alice N Chains. What a great store catering to the Seattle Sound " GRUNGE " music. I purchased countless SWAG items and several lp's for the collection on my shopping spree. Hell I even bought a cd special addition from ALICE in CHAINS. No downloads at this store it's real organic old school music purchasing. For you millennial children you actually have to pay for your music like we all did a long time ago. So get with the program and keep music alive by buying at Sup Pop. So now that I've said that FRANK gives a double thumbs up for turning Seattle into music history. I may not like all the artists from Sup Pop however I'm glad there here.

As a music guy, it seemed important to check out one of the Sub Pop stores while I was in Seattle…read more I actually stopped by 2 of therm, there is one in the SEA Airport (which arguably has more merchandise - at least when I went there) and this one downtown. This one has the better environment if I am being honest, its a corner side of a building store and has cool T-Shirts, books, mugs, turntable mats, etc .....all kind of SubPop merchandise. Its just a retail store to be fair - but worthy of the stop if you are into SubPop records. There is not a huge selection here, but enough to find something cool to take home. I ended up picking up a few souvenirs and chatted with the guy in the shop (super-friendly) Worth a visit!
