Stopped in again on a Sunday and browsed a bit. Talked to Gordy, the owner, and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He is feeling the financial pressure of a brick and mortar business that deals in solid media. Having to close is becoming more and more of a possibility. That would be a loss to anyone that appreciates solid music: Gordy and his place is a treasure. He has LP's, DVDs, CDs, Tapes (and even some cassettes and 8 tracks in boxes). The largest inventory in the Northwest. And great prices. I noticed this time that he has many more vintage receivers, turn-tables and equalizers than he had the last time, so if you are thinking of buying from ebay--go here instead--I bet he has a deal going. Went in to browse their movies selection and I was so surprised by this unassuming shop. I came in on a rainy day, and it was so cozy to be in here looking through their collection. I've got an old, vintage car that has a cassette player in it. Thought this place would be a good place to find one. The store is cluttered and unorganized, especially the cassettes. After digging through random, dusty boxes I found one I thought would be good. I was charged $6.99 for the cassette that was buried in a box, not even displayed. When I walked out with it and popped it in the car, I found out it didn't even work. I was denied a refund. Don't waste your time with this store. Silver Platters in Lynnwood is a much better option. read more

Honestly, I find myself underwhelmed when I visit this shop. My first impression is always, "wow, they have tons of stuff here", but it gets annoying having to look through the entire alphabet for the artists I collect. It's true the prices have gone up in recent years, but that seems to be the case at every record store. Vinyl is the hip thing now for people who still like physical media. It's pretty rare I find anything here that I can't find at other record stores. It's probably a good place to shop at if you live in the neighborhood, and the owner seems to be a nice guy. read more

The owner of the store is super nice. I went there with my wife to look for some Kenny G and Christmas vinyls. He helped point me to the dedicated corner where they store them. When we checked out with 2 vinyls (1 of each type), he only charge me the Kenny G. The Chrismas vinyl was free. We were so surprised and definitely will come back. read more

Umm, not the best for vinyl. Lots of stacked records and CRAZY overpriced. I will say the few albums I took a close look at were pretty clean but 4x the price of (essentially) the same album at other record stores. The cds seemed more appropriately priced. Good luck. read more

The prices are always fair to cheap even and the fellow working the counter is always very helpful and knowledgeable. Wow, never thought I'd be yearning for Bop Street's vinyl pricing. Platinum card users only need to shop here. Nothing is a bargain, vinyl prices are higher than I have seen anywhere else. Neil Young Decade $80, typically $20 in Seattle. Y&T records typically not more than $6 were $25 and so on. Pricing was so off we never even looked at the condition of a single piece of vinyl. Also I'm not really sure why the huge section of four times overpriced vinyl that says it's actually 50 percent off. Anyhow one more reason not to stop in Everett. read more

I've been going here since they were originally located down by the water. The staff here is the nicest and most appreciative of any record store I've been to. They are always able to help and answer questions, and are great guys to talk music with. Their selection keeps growing with more and more rare releases out in the bins. Big, lots of inventory, they pay pretty good if you have good records that are re-sellable, and let you explain what you've got and don't act like they know everything. It is also a MAJOR bonus that their staff is of mature age. Because let's face it, college age record store employees are the worst. I've been collecting records for 40 years and can say, the grade accurately and it's really nice to have a store to buy records from instead of having to go online constantly. I recently bought a turntable on the sly. (A gift for y wife. Shhh.... don't tell.) Of course, buying a turntable means you got to get some vinyls. Otherwise it's just a display piece. I frequented some familiar haunts first --- Urban Outfitters, an FYE that was closing, Best Buy and a thrift store. Sadly, the selection in all places were lacking. All three had very limited selections. If you're trying to look for, say, Joao Gilberto you are plumb out of luck my friend. I knew there was a vinyl store in Seattle, so I took to Google Maps to find where it was. Imagine my surprise when I discovered there was a store in my own backyard! Bargain CDs, Records & Tapes has an amazingly large selection of everything --- especially vinyls. There are records for every musical taste, I'll wager. Records were piled from floor to the ceiling and on long shelves that seemed to extend to infinity. The shopkeeper was also very friendly, offering to give any record a listen with available headphone. (To my delight, he played the record over the store speakers instead.) If you're in the Everett area and looking to expand your record collection, this place has to be your first stop. You'll build up your collection in no time with music that you'll want to listen to. read more

This place is a total mess, BUT it's alphabetized. (It's also run by a quarky/cool/super nice owner, and filled with treasures.) On my iPhone I have a note filled with some must haves. It doesn't happen every time, but from time to time I can check off some items off this list. I was able to that to a few items here (Sade & Joni Mitchell on vinyl as well as a copy of "Before Sunset" on DVD [which I've since accidentally sent to netflix!]). This is your true music store. You know the owner really knows and loves his stuff. If you have a question, he'll look into the air, scratch his head, and then take you on a goose chase for that obscure Billie Holiday, or that bumping Sugarhill Gang. One thing I love about this place: It's organized. Yes, lots of places put their stuff in alphabetical order, but usually that's just for letters. Everything under "S" is just mashed in there. Here, everything is alphabetized WITHIN the letter. OCD can be a good thing! (Oh, and since when did "alphabatized" get spelled "alphabetized"?? I keep messing that up in this review!) I like this record store, because you won't go empty handed. There are some cheep-o stuff, but I think those are thrown into piles against the walls---if you do like the art of searching, I'll leave that section to you and you can get back to me. In the main shelves, you'll find the good stuff. And yeah, it may be priced a little higher, but dang---it's freakin' music. Isn't it worth it?? And don't get total sticker shock. The ENTIRE store is 30% off (atleast when I was there). The owner said he's been doing the sale ever since the economic downturn. It's good for us on the short term, but not good on the long run if this store goes away: SO GET DOWN HERE AND BUY SOME RECORDS!! read more

Seriously, this place is a joke. I cannot understand the positive reviews here. 1. Records and CD's piled so f#@king high you can't search, flip, browse. Heavy boxes on the floor are also in the way at every turn. 2. Sections are not marked. When I did find a section I was looking for (or at least I think I did) I couldn't get even in to it due to all the clutter. 3. Holy f#@king high prices Batman!! Ok, there are signs everywhere that say "take 50% off." The problem is every bloody LP is priced so high that even the 50% off price is still exorbitantly high. Piss off. The worst record stores are always the ones that think every piece of vinyl is worth $50. Get real. Between thrift stores, QUALITY record stores, Ebay, Discogs, Amazon, and a bunch of other sites it is not that difficult to find what you are looking for at a reasonable price these days and in generally good condition. 4. Quality sucks. 90% of everything felt like Goodwill quality. 5. Old dude behind the counter couldn't even be bothered to look up from his reading material. There are some awesome record stores all up and down the western Washington corridor. Seattle has many, but some good ones in Olympia, Mount Vernon, Bellingham, and places in between. I hate giving any business negative reviews but the pricing here is absolutely ridiculous. Stopped in to look for some vinyl and was astounded. Easily 2x and 3x the price of other shops or even median price on Discogs. I wouldn't bother making the drive to Everett if you want an enjoyable experience. Just order online elsewhere and save the time and money. Staff barely courteous today. Last time I was there a different guy was really, really nice. The good is the vinyl section is well organized, decent selection and a ton of CD's, DVD's and other media. Not sure if pricing is as outrageous there too? If you like to browse over and under stock you may find something. I don't plan to go back any time soon. read more

I revisited this shop, last time here was 2019, and it was a great disappointment. The prices are high and there is no order to the colllection other than alphabetical, so if you want to browse by category forget it. I went in with no specific item in mind and left with several finds thanks to the huge amount of vinyls, CD's and dvds. That reason alone would warrant remembering this special find but I cannot commend enough how friendly and helpful the staff are. I wish I remembered the gentleman's name but he was super helpful and provided the icing on the cake for this great experience. Absolutely will be back and can't recommend highly enough! An amazing shop, a candy store for adventures lovers of retro music. If you are looking a treasure trove of music, where you could find anything for cheap prices look no further, you have found your home. If you are looking for a place organized with the dewy decimal system, however, this is not your kind of store. It's lack of organization is both charming and annoying, it makes shopping there feel like a treasure hunt. Very exciting, you could look through the boxes of cassette tapes and vinyl for a lifetime and still find another box, untouched for years, filled with mystery. This is the only place in Everett to buy CDs, and that isn't hyperbole, it is literally the only CD store in town. They have a large selection of used CDs to browse through. I've found some hidden gems here and I always enjoy the treasure hunt through the various genres. They have vinyl too! Plus, the place next door sells great donuts. read more

A serious gem and the last of a dying breed. I've been to my share of record shops, and this place is unreal. My wife and I spent a good hour just hitting the immaculately alphabetized main stacks before I even noticed there was at least 2-3x as many LPs underneath or jammed in nooks and crannies around us. Someone spent a VERY long time amassing their catalogue, and it has taken its toll on the business. The prices seem kind of high for used (but usually VG or higher quality) vinyl, but then you take into account the 1/2 off everything sale, and it's entirely reasonable (and lower than what you'd spend at a Seattle-based shop, if they even had a tenth the selection). What I mean by the collection taking its toll on the business is how evident it was that sales are down and they're hurting for your business. The cashier/owner(?) guy was amazingly nice and supremely knowledgable, and it almost felt sad how giddy he was for the $40 we spent. He mentioned that the half-off everything sale will be going on "for probably another year... until we can cover our back-rent and get out of the recession." I felt like going back and buying more stuff... there was some amazing stuff I passed over because I didn't want to overdo it, but it's a shame to see a collection and knowledge like that go to waste. If you're not into shopping for the deals and supporting local record shops, think about this... they will take back anything you bought if you're not happy with it. He made it sound like there weren't any caveats either... just bring it back in.They'll also do trades for your old music as well ("If you're tired of something you have, bring it back... we'll get you something you'll like.") If you call yourself an audiophile, a rare-record hunter, a local-first shopper, or even just someone who can't seem to find a good copy of that old Soft Cell LP you had in grade school, it's worth the trip. read more
