Chris, Owner was not only friendly, but took time on the phone to locate books that I was looking for.

This is why bookstores are going out of business. I went in…read moreto buy several books and a floor puzzle for my kids. I was really focused on buying books surrounding going potty. There is a really nice gentleman who was working the registers who left his post to try and help me find any books on potty , because I wasn't able to find any myself. He informed me they had just moved the potty books, and he hadn't had time to familiarize himself with the section, but he wasn't able to find any either. He apologized profusely, and informed me he had to go back to the registers and his coworker who was in receiving would be out in a few minutes and could potentially help me. He also apologized because they were short staffed. This is obviously not his fault, but man, what a shame, I had another set of books in my hands and a floor puzzle. I put everything back and I'll be ordering it all on Amazon.

Who knew Barnes & Noble was still a thing? Apparently the new Totem Lake shopping center did…read morebecause there's a spot here for Barnes and Noble at this trendy area, conveniently located next to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. So if you miss this mega book chain then here you have it in Kirkland. After an appointment nearby, I decided to walk around the shopping center, checking out what's new and spotted Barnes & Noble. When I walked in, I saw there was a café to the right of the entrance and the main store straight ahead, which is more compact in size than other BN locations I've visited. None the less, it is an inviting space with a lot to check out. Like I mentioned, the size is much smaller than expected, but the selection is key here, as they feature a lot of their best selling items and new releases. I also liked that the dark green and dark wood accents are long gone, as the store has transformed into a more well-lit, bright space. If you're a reader and are at the Totem Lake shopping plaza, then this new Barnes & Nobles is worth a gander.

I never knew Ridgecrest Books existed until I visited during our Seattle Independent Bookstore Day…read morecrawl, and absolutely loved the charm of this small, neighborhood bookstore. It's what every neighborhood needs, really. Ridgecrest Books is located in the Ridgecrest neighborhood of Shoreline, which isn't huge, but has just what this cozy area needs. Among other businesses, Ridgecrest Books is one of the few businesses on a central street with plenty of street parking. My friends and I visited during the Seattle Independent Bookstore Day, so it was pretty busy in the small bookstore, but was still a welcoming experience. They even had discounted books on racks outside the store, in addition to the collection inside. They don't have the largest book collection here, but it's curated well. I also love that this bookstore is dog friendly! Anytime I'm in the area, I'll definitely stop by and check out what's new at this wonderful, neighborhood bookstore.

I stopped by for the grand opening (3/9/24), had a chance to congratulate one of the owners and sign their guest book. They've been working hard restoring the site. Bright, inviting, lovely bookshelves and custom book ends. Filled with various book titles and subjects. And if applicable, nice corner spot for the kiddos! There are also store merch like onesies, Tshirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, cards, and stickers. It was nice to stop by and get an overview of their offerings. It will be nice to be able to place bookorders in my actual city, in addition to my faves in Seattle and Lake Forest Park. There's ample street parking, located at 165th & 5th near Crest Theater, Cafe Aroma, and Drumlin. Nice retail area growing in Ridgecrest!
