A cute, quaint book store with whimsical decorations, friendly staff, and helpful recommendations throughout the store. We loved seeing all genre of books in such a small space. We especially loved that Ben Clanton, author or Narwhal & Jelly and other books, was signing books and chatting with the younger friends in our midst. read more

Edmonds Bookshop is one of those quaint neighborhood bookshops, somewhat small, somewhat limited in scale. They have a small bit of everything with a greater emphasis on fiction and children's books. The younger staff member at the desk greeted us when we entered. Like many small book shops, I didn't see a "sale" section, which is perfectly ok; I don't expect one. I found a used book section priced at primarily half off, which was a pleasant surprise. I chose and bought a book from this section (Somewhere in France, a historical fiction). Service was fine, no bad experiences as mentioned by others. This book store is very much neighborhood sized and not a 'destination-worthy' or 'drive-worthy' type of store. I can see it serving the community well and meets its basic function. No wow factor. Hence the a-ok 3 stars rating. read more

Limited selection and highish prices, but the prices are typical of the town and other than that it's a pleasant little shop with friendly staff. I'll happily stop by if I'm in the area, but I tend to go elsewhere when looking for something specific. As a side note: They don't consistently carry any graphic novels aside from those aimed at children, but then I suppose the merchandise is tailored to the tastes of the community. read more

Quaint little shop with lots of variety, seemed like some cool selections. Not the best customer service though - not one person greeted us or asked if we needed any help the entire time we were there. An older gentlemen working there was frantically roaming around the store walking in front of customers, again, without saying anything. So, we left. Love, love, love this sweet little bookshop in Edmonds! It's not big, but it's homey and well-curated, so it's fun to browse the selections and there's something for everyone here. I liked the staff recommendations in particular. The staff were friendly and I enjoyed chatting with them. I liked that they had the library's book bingo card for an adult summer reading challenge! And the lady who checked out my purchase was nice enough to let me take a few extra for friends. I only wish it was closer to my house! It's a great stop when visiting Edmonds for sure. read more

If I could leave a 0 star review, I would. We have frequented this bookstore for past 6-7 years and today wanted to bring my 2 year old in for his birthday to pick out a book. I'll also say it was opening weekend of the farmers market and there are a ton of families out and about on Saturdays. They have a pretty large children's and kids section for how small the store is, but apparently hate children? We had picked several books and I was checking out when I asked my husband to put our toddler back into his stroller so we could get ready to leave. Being 2, he didn't like this and started to cry, but my husband was working on getting him in and out of the store. The second (literally) he started to make noise the older lady checking me out said to me "that needs to stop". I was so surprised I didn't immediately say anything until she kept huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes and giving my husband dirty looks. I replied with "if you have a large toddler and kids book section you can't expect kids and toddlers to not act like kids and toddlers and have a hard time sometimes". This whole interaction was 2 minutes or under, it's not like we sat there just letting him scream. We will most likely return the books we bought and go to another indie bookstore. There are so many better and more friendly ones to choose from. My husband and I are pretty big bibliophiles and we will never come back. read more

Love that there's a bookshop in DT Edmonds but unfortunately the older ladies running this were so rude I will not be back! I have never felt so uncomfortable just walking into a store. I bought a book, and I instantly regretted it because of how rude the checkout was for absolutely no reason at all. Totally unexpected and really put a damper on my day. I went here today just to browse and they said hello to the two white customers as soon as they came in the store and did not say hello to me despite being in the store longer than both of the white customers in clear view from the service counter. I quickly felt unwelcome and left the store despite wanting to buy a few things. Didn't end up buying because of how they treated me based on my appearance. read more

This is the kind of bookshop that I want to see around for a long, long time. I'm an avid reader, yet my eyesight is pretty bad so I read a lot of e-books because I can blow the font up large enough to see easily. So going into Edmonds Bookshop I was pretty sure I'd end up purchasing a book for my niece who was with me, but not myself. However, if I stack my glasses on top of each other (seriously, lol), I can see small fonts just fine and so read actual books. This bookstore is a gem. A good bookshop is like walking into a multiverse where thousands of different interesting lives are sitting there, waiting for you to dive into them. This bookshop is like that, the selection is excellent and the titles are well chosen. So, I did buy a book for myself and while I may look like a dork from dorkmeisterville in my double glasses while I read, it's a joy to hold an actual book again. read more

The staff is friendly and the shop is clean. The thing is the selection is pretty lacking. They have a fantastic kids section, if you have kids it is well worth checking them out. However, unless you are looking for a cookbook or a new fiction read, there isn't much here. They have zero crafting books in the store. That being said, if you look on their website they have a ton of crafting books from independent publishers. So, hard to say. read more

We stopped by this bookstore on our way to the Saturday Farmers Market. The window display of Where's Waldo grabbed my attention. I went in & its a very small store with sections for specific genres of books. It seemed to have a pretty good find of older children books if you're looking for a sweet gift to connect with someone. We love our local Edmonds bookshop. They are so friendly, kind and service oriented, and all clearly love books and reading. We just had them help search for Tolkien boxed sets for a christmas gift and their service was well beyond excellent. We very much miss just hanging out in the store and browsing and are really looking forward to being able to return to that post-covid. We had a wonderful experience here. The store is well organized and easy to navigate and the selection it great. Plus the shop includes their recommendations throughout the store with tags that also include a synopsis of the story. I love this bookstore! I believe in supporting small businesses so while I was in Edmonds I purchased all of my books from here. If they did not have the book in stock they ordered it for me and I had it in a couple of days...just like ordering on Prime...but I got the experience of the book store, the interaction with the helpful and knowledgeable staff and I was able to support a small business...the trifecta! They also have a frequent buyer program so that you can basically buy 12 books and get 1 free. If you are in the Edmonds area, I would definitely recommend doing your all of your book buying here in this book store. read more

Cute little bookstore. I rarely buy books - the library is my second-best friend (tied for my best friend are the friends who lend me books) - but when I do, I try to support independent stores. I didn't have as much time to look around in Edmonds Bookshop as I would have liked (I was with the future in-laws and they wanted to get going) but it seems like a great place to find some treasures. The store is small but there's a lot packed in. Unfortunately that makes it a bit hard to move around -- it was on the crowded side when we stopped in, probably because the farmer's market was just winding down. (Also, they have a bathroom. My bladder is tiny so this is always appreciated!!!) read more

Very cool independent bookstore. It isn't very large, but it has a pretty incredible selection of books. The layout is neat and tidy. Love the display tables with everything from brand new books to recommendations of older titles. There is a great selection of kids books to choose from. There is also a rack in the middle that has some used books for sale, the majority of which are fairly mainstream. Additionally, there are plenty of journals, notebooks, and calendars for sale as well. Staff seem friendly and helpful - while I was there, the woman at the counter was on the phone helping someone order a book that she didn't have in stock at the moment. I would definitely come back here next time I'm looking for some new reading material! read more

Ordered two books online the day before the shutdown was announced. One book ended up on my doorstep a few days later, hand delivered. The next book showed up a few days after that, again hand delivered. I would have completely understood if the order went by the wayside, but they made sure it was filled despite the weird circumstances. Will be a lifelong customer. read more

This is my favorite bookshop, and part of the reason I've shopped for Christmas and Birthday gifts in downtown Edmonds for years as an alternative to the mall experience. Mary Kay and her staff are very enthusiatic readers who are happy to share their reviews with you and great at making suggestions for new authors and releases that are spot on to your taste. I discovered the Mockingjay series by Suzanne Collins through Mary Kay, and she put me onto "Border Songs" by local auther Jim Lynch, which was a true gem. I love their ordering service - generally I have several requests for upcoming releases on file with them - and get a call the moment my book or manga arrives. They've always got something new and wonderful to feed my pageturning habit! read more

The best book store anywhere. Most of the time, the book I need is already there in the store. The last book I purchased was "Be in a Treehouse" by Pete Nelson. Having a chance to look at it, and the detail on construction, was exactly what I needed. The people there are very helpful, and make you feel at home. Also they keep track of the books you purchase, after 10 Books you get a credit of the average price of those 10 books. This store is one of the BEST bookshops in the Seattle area. I have gone here for years, and I still love it. The staff is super friendly, and if they don't have the book you are looking for, they will order it. Most of the time I leave with multiple books and multiple recommendations. Anytime you can ask the staff for book recommendations, and somtimes they even put tags on certain books they like. You can then see those tags easier. I LOVE the Edmonds Bookshop read more

Always able to find a hidden gem amongst these shelves. They don't have every title out there, but are willing to order those not in stock if necessary. Always neat and tidy, which provides lots of room to sit while deciding. They have a great kid corner that my daughter can "read" in while I wander throughout the rest of the store. The staff here is unfriendly. They don't have a huge floor stock, yet they're not even very knowledgeable about what they do have on hand. A few years ago, I inquired about a summer job here, and instead of a polite, "we're not hiring," I was rudely told that they're never hiring. Ever.
