Love supporting the bookstore..but the Cafe is not worth it- overpriced and the staff are not friendly or helpful. Every time I go in it's a bad experience. The cashier up front is usually nice but the person behind is unfriendly and judgey if you ask them to make your own drink. If I'm paying almost $10 for a drink then I would expect it to be made to my satisfaction! Not a fan of the Cafe! I would rather pick up my coffee somewhere else and then go to the book store to browse. read more

My go-to study spot! This Barnes & Noble has a dedicated Miffy section with lots of options, and everything is usually well-organized and easy to find. The store is quiet and comfortable, perfect for studying, and the staff are always helpful. It loses one star because it can get crowded on weekends, and sometimes the Miffy section isn't fully stocked. read more

I went in last week 2/6/2026 to look at books and bought a couple things also inquired about the Zelda Lego kit that the cashier told me was $225 (these kits are kept behind the registers so no one but employees have access to them). I was double charged for a book so had to go last night to get a refund. While there getting the refund I figured I would get the Zelda lego kit and verifed it was 225.00 again. When it was rung up it rung up as 299.00 before tax and the manager that was helping me with my refund for the book said that it was 225.00 to which the cashier said "no look its 299.00'. The guy peeled the sticker off and I was charged 299.00 for something I was quoted twice at 225.00 and it was priced by employees. seriously disappointed with B&N. EDITED-B&N got a hold of me in less than 24 hours and apologized and resolved this issue. I was very impressed!!! read more

With the demise of bookstores, I'm so grateful that Barnes & Noble still exists. However, I definitely miss the old layout and variety. Whether you've got books in mind to shop for or just like to explore, anyone can spend hours in here. Selection of books seems to have dwindled a bit, especially with their retail floor redesign, making substantial room for stationary, gift items, and toys. Seating has also become nonexistent with the redesign, I think we came across a total of 3 chairs - 2 in a fiction section and 1 solo chair in the religious section. We didn't explore the anime section, which now seems to take up 1/5th of the entire store. The magazine section has been decreased to a third of what it once was. I still love to poke around the bargain books section, and this trip, they had a good amount of 50% off books! Having a membership definitely pays off if you plan on shopping even only a few times per year, the 10% off is a great perk. There's still a good amount of titles priced better than other mega online retailers here, but I would recommend checking first. Staff is always helpful and seem to really enjoy offering a helping hand. read more

The Kroger of bookstores. Comprehensive variety of merchandise, well organized and priced squarely at the market rate. The atmosphere is a little bland and almost corporate, but most people probably don't care as much as me about bookstore ambience. Side note: This is also a good place for gift shopping, as they have a substantial amount of random other stuff thrown in amidst the books. read more

Only offline bookstore available in town these days. B&N has many variety of books and staff are kind and friendly. However, the store is operated with short staff, therefore there is always a bit of long line to ring up an item. Every time I visited, there was only one staff working at the register. Hope they can hire a few more to provide better customer experience. read more

While most Barnes and Nobles are pretty great, this one is particularly so. If you like books, and coffee there's really no better place! Their cafe is well stocked with delicious goodies, and there are usually enough people to create a bit of atmosphere while not being overly crowded. I frequently come here to do a little bit of work and avoid the overly busy Starbucks down the street. Their selection of books is fantastic too, it's a large store and staff are always happy to help look something up for you or make a suggestion or two if you're not sure what to read next. There are magazines here that I haven't been able to find anywhere else (even my favorites from France or Australia) and they have a great gift section for that hard-to-buy person. The kids book section up the back is particularly fantastic, and they run frequent story-times and other activities at the store. I definitely recommend checking it out, it's a great place to meet other parents too! read more

This is the Worst Barnes and Noble in the area. I wanted to return a book I got as a gift and they wouldn't even let me exchange it even though it was wrapped in plastic and still had the price tag on it with the "Barnes and Noble Exclusive" sticker. All I wanted to do was exchange my $25 hardback book for the soft back same book which only cost $15 I wasn't trying to get store credit for the difference I only wanted to exchange book for book. Nothing more. It was the Constitution of the United States of America and both books were "B and N EXCLUSIVE" the book I brought in was still wrapped in the plastic and had a price tag sticker for $25.00. The cashier Lori looked up the book and saw it is offered online for $10 so she wouldn't exchange it for the copy I wanted which was $15!!! Why would a book bought online have a sticker that says $25 !! Clearly my mother bought it at the store!! But Lori wouldn't budge and her supervisor even came out to back her up and tell me the book my mother bought for 25 dollars wouldn't even exchange for the same book priced at 15 dollars! Really Barnes and Noble you have to cheat people out of $15 over a $5 dollar price difference that this gigantic company can't budge on?? Come on really? Exchange my book and I'll take the loss of the 10 dollar difference but nope Lori wasn't going to budge on that five dollars so Barnes And Noble of Lynnwood you just lost a loyal customer and I shop there pretty regularly, I spend at least $2,000 a year here on gifts and for myself, but I won't be back. While this isn't the closest B & N to me and not my favorite they do manage to bring in some pretty great authors for book signings and they are conveniently located next to Old Navy and Ulta (across from Nordstrom Rack). Parking is shared with the other businesses in this shopping center (read: challenging) but not the worst. Customer service has always been very good when I've come in and checkout is fast even when there seems to be a long line. I'm just so happy brick and mortar booksellers still exist - I hope they stick around for a long time! Came in here with my boyfriend looking for movies and we learned they only sell a handful of first run DVDs. Had to hunt for an employee to ask a quick question, and it took fifteen minutes. The store was packed for Mother's Day weekend, and they didn't have enough people working. The guy I finally found was abrupt and condescending when I asked about movies. The magazine selection isn't the best when it comes to music. A lot of guitar magazines, nothing else for musicians to read. Not a fan of B&N's club which requires payment to join and the fee isn't cheap. read more

I was surprised that they had better prices than the other book stores I had gone to. 30%off one of the books I had just purchased somewhere else. Lots of places to sit down, check out some books, tons of helpful people to direct you to what your looking for. They have a large children's area, with story telling space and gift ideas. If you're looking for something specific, or you are just looking for fun, even if you have no idea what you're looking for..run in...because they have it. I ended up with several books that I got for a screaming deal! 3 books for the price I paid for 1 at Third Place Books. Any place that is filled with books is automatically awesome to me. This is my favorite location, even though the parking can suck at times. The store is always clean and well stocked, there are always staff to be found. The kid's area is pretty awesome, my kiddos inevitably end up in the reading nook with their noses buried in a new find. Makes my mom heart pretty darn proud. Staff has always been really friendly and helpful, but this last time they were pushing their credit card and some new loyalty program and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Hopefully this new twist is temporary, I much prefer the way it was! read more

What I like about this place is cafe, general atmosphere and free wifi. :) It is good place to get some munchies if you are waiting for somebody. And if you stop here often get Barnes and Nobles membership card. Sometimes it is very busy here, but public is pretty intelligent and polite. read more

I'm here a lot. I love having a traditional bookstore with cafe. Besides a nice selection of books, there's a significant magazine rack, a good number of comics and manga. I also like the educational toys that are available. The checkout line is fairly quick. I can always find someone to assist with a book search. Only request would be more events. This B&N is across the street from our hotel, so that made for a very convenient visit this evening. It's a decent size (all on one level), with an impressively-large and attractive café. The selection in each subject matter really varied; art & photography were rather pitiful, the travel section was terrific, and everything else was somewhere in-between. They managed to fit more than a full size store onto their website...and if you are Windows shopping (boo hhaha) it can be a tad overwhelming to navigate through. There are a few reasons I regularly use this site. 1. Used copies from partnered bookstores. You know how many copies the retailer has, the condition of the book (which i have found to be quite accurate), find books barnes and noble doesnt carry anymore, and get amazing deals. I once sent a book as a gift, and put a little note in the order to please inscribe the book....and they did! The sweet little bookstore in texas did it for me...on a book that only cost$2! 2. I once had the need to send books via the Louisiana prison system. Dear lord what a nightmare that is and I'm the one on the outside! gaah. It must come from the shipper, addressed to the recipient, with the weird ass address that no other site would accept except, guess who? barnes and noble. not only did they 'get' the address, it was all delivered on time! 3. You can listen to clips of music to decide on CD purchases. I like that, esp when I was looking for a very specific song sung from a very specific boys choir performance as a gift. I had thought I found it, but having that clip solidified I was right. 4. Sales. When they go clearance, they do it right. 5. They've recently added 'reviews' features. You can give feedback on the partnered bookstores and they are giving you reviews of books and products, etc. A plus when you log on not knowing what you're looking for, or need a 2nd opinion on the newest book. read more

I went to Barnes & Noble this weekend to look for the Tom Douglas' new book "Dahlia Bakery Cookbook". The store was an absolute zoo and there was no one on the floor to ask for help. I waited in line at customer service. Long wait. The man who ended up helping me was nice and helpful but they were out of the books and they were on reorder. I don't know the ins and outs of the book business but running out of a major popular new book around Christmastime doesn't seem like a good move. The store was just so chaotic. They need more people on the floor for customer service. I walked out without buying anything because they didn't have what I needed. I bought my book elsewhere. Also, they changed their return policy so you have to return a book withing 14 days to get a refund! That's very limiting, especially when shopping for others. They should give you at least 30 days to return a book. I used to have fond memories of shopping at B&N when I was younger but now that I know better I can't justify shopping here anymore. Go to Elliott Bay Books in Seattle or Powell's in Portland. Both have decent prices and so much more soul! read more

We come here whenever we go up to Lynwood. I think this and Half Priced books are the only non-digital bookstores I go into. They have a great variety of books, trinkets, toys, and more. The prices aren't exactly "WOW, buy all the books you want!" But they are fine. They also have a little cafe inside, but I've never tried it! Try it yourself. read more

She toured me around, grabbing each quickly.....it seemed like she had done this before. I used to be a big fan of small, neighborhood book stores, but the Alderwood Barnes and Noble is the next best thing. During the week leading up to Christmas, there were greeters at the door to help direct me to the sections I needed. I was on the hunt for a book for my 14 year-old nephew and a store associate named Brandon saw me browsing aimlessly and asked really great questions about my nephew that would help us decide on the right book. He truly knows his stuff. My nephew likes the book and will likely end up buying the next book in the series. If you're buying your books online, you're truly missing out on so many great choices and things you can't find when you're scrolling online. read more

I love that they have comfy chairs (they make me want to read entire series while nestled in them, but I know better), yummy drinks, a big magazine section, a separate kids section (that way they're not running and yelling all over me), and valued employees that seem like they actually *want* to help me. "Really? You want to order that book for me? And you'll walk the quarter mile to the other end of the store to find that other book for me? And you won't make me feel like an asshole if I was wrong and that's not really the book I want? I went in to purchase a book. The cashier was extraordinarily pushy about getting me to join their club, and started slamming their online competition when I indicated my membership there was the reason I wasn't joining B&N's club. When I asked why the store didn't match their website's prices, the cashier continued to be belligerent and pushy. After I was in my car I called the store to speak with the manager, whose attitude communicated that while the words "I'm sorry" were being used, there was zero actual interest in what I was saying. I've been a long time fan of Barnes and Nobles, especially once they got into e-books and Borders folded. This one in particular however I have a major issue with. They can't be bothered to provide a place to lock up a bicycle, but the manager complained about my having the bike in the shop. When I asked whether there was a place that I could lock it up, she gave me a very condescending, "I'm asking you respectfully to take your bike out of the store." Which given that she didn't answer my question was hardly respectful. She made the excuse that the store is not obligated to provide a place to lock up bikes, but if you ask me they have to choose: let bikes in the store, or provide a place to lock them up. I don't own a car, the bike is my main mode of transportation, and as a result I can't shop at that store, not that I'd want to with such an obnoxious manager. And I love bookstores. read more

Barns and Nobel cafe is my favorite place to study mainly because it's well lit and the tables are big and it's usually very quiet compared to Starbucks for example. I gave them three stars because, first, there is only 2 outlets in the whole cafe, so people are usually fighting over them! Second, their coffee suck! It tastes like warm milk! Good to hang and watch the NWest rain through the window while doing my very very favorite thing--Yelp (OK, I would rather do 10km, but it's pssn raining hard). Standard fare for a B&N, and the only way you can tell you are in Lynnwood and not in San Jose B&N is that the Images of America books here are all about "Fort Lawton", "Shelton", "Vashon Island", "Seattle", etc and in San Jose, it's about "San Jose", "the Rose Garden", "Campbell" etc.. Other than that, it is cookie-cutter. I like this location because it is off I-5, it is near Alderwood Mall, Babies R Us, Best Buys, Old Spaghetti Factory and all other mega-giganta-super-stores are near by and I can park a giganta Ford F-250 full bed truck in this lot without feeling self-conscious about it. read more

I just returned from the B&N. Josh in the music department is the perfect example of how to provide excellent customer service. I am listening to my new cd as I am writing this review. Josh was friendly as he he answered all of my questions with effeciency and a good sense of product knowledge. He was quick but he was more concerned a customer satisfaction vs. a quick sale. In addition to my 10% card discount, josh extended the use of a coupon he had available. I saved 35% total. On my previous visits, I was denied the additional savings if I did not have the hard coupon copy on hand. In addition to extending the additional coupon, Josh asked if I would like him to open my cd to listen to immediately. I was about to ask him to do so because I hate the extra packaging that is a struggle to open with purchase of cd, dvds, and electronics. Great experience! read more
