DO NOT BRING YOUR USED BOOKS HERE!!! They do not give real store credit. It is only a 25% discount on your purchases. The owner said that some people have $500 worth of store credit and "they won't even live long enough to use it all"... what an insane way to run a business. I have NEVER heard of ANY other business only giving someone a discount as store credit after receiving FREE books that they are then selling for 100% profit. The owner originally claimed that if I had store credit that I would have a 25% discount in addition to the store credit. Now they are saying that I can only use store credit for 25% of the book and I have to pay out of pocket for the rest of it. WHAT IS THE POINT OF STORE CREDIT THEN?!?! I would have NEVER agreed to that if it was explained correctly when I originally dropped off my books. I guess you're welcome Uppercase Books for your FREE merchandise because I will NEVER be supporting your store again. I am deeply upset that I not only can't get my books back (not even an option because I signed some slip of paper when I first came in and the "store credit" wasn't explained correctly) but also that you're expecting me to spend $260 in your store to even use all of the "store credit". Ridiculous. After discussing how upset I was with the OWNER, she didn't even try to rectify the situation or offer any other way to make the situation correct. read more

Very cute store. It's a moderate size but they pack a lot into it. There are all sorts of books. I love their Harry Potter decorations. The kid's section is pretty small. I love the ambiance. It feels nice and cozy. read more

A great bookstore! 2+ stories of good reads. It says closed on Sundays, but it was def open. I got an early published copy of "Jaws" for $2. The cover said $1.95, but it's been almost 40 years, so I'll allow the mark-up (hahaha). The lady behind the counter was super nice and even told me her husband had been an extra in the movie "Jaws." This bookstore is a gem in Snohomish. I've been a bookworm since birth thus have a lot of experience in bookstores. This store took my breath away. Great selection for adults and kids. I found several books immediately and so did my daughter. The owner is a a gem too. She noticed my 6 year old daughters's interest in sign language and immediately found her a book and took the time to sit down and explain it to her. And then she gave the book to my daughter as a gift! My daughter spent the entire night teaching herself sign language. I love local businesses. I love used bookstores. They are getting rare due to online ordering and such. Support your local business. Uppercase Books is a must for all. read more

Really liked this place! It's a cute store with a good selection of books. The upstairs has a nice little area with comfy chairs. Meh. Count me not impressed. Maybe I'm just spoiled from the small-town used book stores I used to frequent in the Eureka/Arcata area. But when I went in today with a stack of used books to sell, I found myself wanting to take them back and tell them "Nevermind." Let me explain. I came in with a stack of used books and I said that I had seen on their website that they buy books. The woman that works there corrected me several times... They give store credit for gently used books. Ok. Then I asked if it was possible to check in later to see how much credit they were going to be able to give me for my books and see which books they were unable to buy. No, that's not possible. I guess that's just not what I'm used to. I prefer to know what I'm getting before selling/giving my books away. Now I think I'll probably just use up my store credit (if I have any?) and keep looking for a used book store that better fits me. It's too bad too, 'cause they're right down the street from my house and I LOVE used book stores. I think we both lost out here. read more

Needed to get a particular book for a meeting. So I called them up and asked for the book. The lady was super helpful, went and found the book then held it for me till I picked it up later. I will also warn you that the location is wrong on Yelp, it directed me to some dancing club. I actually called them again and they helped me find them. If you end up at some dancing club or 7/11, go two blocks East and it'll be a wood cabin on your left. read more

I have never actually been into the store, but I did contact this business online with some question ans and they were beyond friendly. Even though we were not paying customers they were still willing to go out of there way to help us out; so that customer service gets the five star "as good as it gets" rating. read more

Note that a sign on their door today said: Temporarily closed, moving to First Street. Will re-open in April. Uppercase Books always has a decent selection and a friendly staff. Their selection includes local authors and sometimes hold some really neat events. Their Manifesto Espresso section looks good, too. The shop has been shrinking over the past few years and the selection is getting stagnant, but they just got a new owner, so I hope they survive the transition. Uppercase Books is one of those bookstores that usually is worth walking through to browse. read more

This is a great place! The books are very well priced...better than any other used bookstores I can think of. The books are well selected and there are many to choose from. The building is a big log cabin. If you don't look out the window and stay long enough you might think you were off at some remote retreat. If that weren't enough the owner is very community minded. When I recently opened a Little Free Library she contacted me and volunteered to donate books to get it going. I took her up on it and she gave me a big box of popular titles. read more

I had the pleasure of visiting this great store on a recent trip to Washington. First, I suggest putting Snohomish as a 'must visit' locale when headed to the Seattle area. It is definitely worth the drive to this quaint town of Victorian buildings, antique stores, and high quality shops. Highest on my list of recommendations is Uppercase Book Shop. What a wonderful find filled with unique and orginal books! This is a throw back to an era when there was truly customer service. The staff is very knowledgeable, listens to your needs, and assist in recommendations - you don't get that at the discount or chain stores!! I put myself on their mailing list and amazed to see the monthly bookreadings and events for all ages. This place is it's own wonderful experience! Thank you Uppercase for making my trip to the Northwest an incredible delight! I look forward to my next visit to Snohomish and most importantly, Uppercase Book Shop! read more

If you are visiting the Seattle/Everett area, a stop in the Snohomish historic district where this gem of a bookstore is located is a must! The owners and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. If there's a book you're looking for, they will find it for you. I was there 8/30/18 and since I'm 200 miles away it was only my second time there. I love browsing through the books. Lots of used books which I enjoy. The Owner was very nice and helpful and went the extra mile in a special and meaningful way. There is a nice upstairs reading room if you want to read. And being located in Snohomish is awesome as it's a great small town to walk around in and enjoy the shops and restaurants. read more

First time going with my boyfriend and we loved the set up and variety of books. Had a good experience up until checkout. My boyfriend had 4 books & wanted to use two separate cards to purchase. The cashier (little old lady with short grey hair) had a rude attitude when he asked if he could use both cards. She said "are you sure you want to do that?" He said "yes, otherwise I can't buy all these books." She rolled her eyes and scoffed like it was burdensome. I would give 5 stars if it wasn't for bad customer service. read more

Just visited the new location on 1st street this weekend and it is more lovely than ever. The staff is great, immediately helped me find what I was looking for at great prices and I was even able to pick up a new release. The atmosphere of this store is as good as it gets for bookworms. They may not have their entire selection out yet due to their recent move, but they are working to make it organized and better than it was at the last location. They don't currently 'buy books back' but they do offer a store credit program if you want to leave your old books with them and get something new. The selection is great old and new. read more

I would have to assume that some of the opinions expressed were prior to when the store changed ownership and locations to the main street through downtown Snohomish. Now; I've not been to the prior location other than to drop the other half off but I have been to the new location. Having selected a location where you must take stairs either up or down to get to the types of books your looking for is not ideal and I'd have to believe that the location being in a higher traffic area despite its poor setup is more expensive. When I was going through and looking for specific types of books it was immediately apparent that there was no consideration to how the books were ordered outside of perhaps their genre... this made it difficult to find all the books in a series and certainly not by author. It is organized more like our Junk Drawyer in the kitchen. The books themselves are used but in fairly good shape for the most part for what i'd expect however they're expensive, pricing seems to be half the shown price on a book or more. I purchased a drum recording book for my son, really more of a 20 page pamphlet and it was $7 - after I got home I realized that it was supposed to have a CD with it and it didn't... I don't imagine that the store noted this in considering the pricing. I'm fine with paying for a used book because I know that they need to make money, but when pricing seems to be 50 to 75% of the original NEW price? I start to question if I shouldn't just go to Woodinville and buy a new book at a store there. The individual who worked there was very pleasant, when asked questions she seemed knowledgable and was very helpful to take you to where you needed to go to find a particular genre. I will maybe go back if I am in the area and wanted to look for something, whether I'd buy... well depends on what it is and if I feel like spending what feels like a bit too much.
