Went back twice. Loved the piano room. Played piano for what felt like an hour. The girl helping me was taking it in. In that same room I remember they had a first edition "Writings of Josehpus", the book describes the hair color of Jesus. Between the extensive collection of books and jewelry this place was a real jem. I purchased a 100% silver ring for about 80$. I thought that was a great price. I fell for this place when I was younger, hurting a lot, not being successful on a social and emotional level. I was looking for answers, and I thought I would find it here. I fell to the temptation of buying a whole boxful of books here that I didn't even fully read all of. Hanging out here too much will distance you from your feelings and senses eventually. You will live only in your head, and may need help. As for magical solutions like pyramid power, astrology, or the like, this is all pseudo-science, with no empirical verification. It could even be a bottomless pit of endless searching but no real results. read more

I was visiting a friend in the area and had been walking past this bookshop for a couple days, but they were closed. I planned it out to go the next day when I knew they'd be open, and as soon as I stepped inside, I was welcomed by Greg and his warm energy. The walls and shelves were filled with so many books ranging from religion to spirituality. There was also a large tarot card section, different gemstones and other fun things all strewn about. I love that they encourage people to relax and stay a while. They're also a non-profit organization. The next time I visit this area, I'm definitely stopping in to say hello and probably buy some more amazing books. read more

In comparison to other pagan and new-age bookstores in the Seattle area, this is actually the best. That's not saying much. The biggest problem is lack of product selection. The PNW region is teeming with pagans up to the eyeballs, so there is demand for their services and products. That being said, there is no excuse for NOT having a giant wall filled with herbs, resins, and distillations for magical home use. The women I met who work customer service are extremely nice and obliging, but know very little of pagan culture. Simple Pagan 101 questions like "What would you personally buy here for charged water dispersion and cleansing?" should not be followed up with the staff being perplexed on why I'm dispersing because they've never encountered that concept before. Staff here should be able to handle basic questions like that and then trying to up-sell various products to assist the endeavor, or at least be able to educate those who come in who might be clueless. A good pagan bookstore is cluttered and stuffed to the gills with implements and books on the faith. The current floorplan and organization is actually very spartan. I understand this might be in an attempt to draw more new-age customers, who value that kind of Feng-shui in a store, but compared to other stores I've been to (especially in Sedona, AZ), it's not succeeding there either. I feel Quest doesn't know entirely what it wants to be and is barely succeeding at doing both pagan and new-age. I feel this is because, as I said earlier, there is no competition. I want Quest to succeed beyond all expectations and wish them the best. I feel they are just a few managerial decisions away from achieving that. That being said, 8 out of 10 would go again, and it's still the best pagan bookstore I can find in Washington state. read more

My favorite bookshop. I make a point of walking by here when I'm walking the dog to check out all the books in the window display. They always have super interesting books that pique my interest. Every few weeks I actually go in to buy a couple books. The employees working there are usually knowledgeable about the books and authors and let me know of any upcoming events I might be interested in. Last year I did nearly all my Christmas shopping here. From toddlers to the elderly I was able to find unique, thought provoking books for everyone here. This bookstore is an absolute asset to the neighborhood and I hope it stays for decades more to come. If you have any alternative interests be sure to check this place out. This is a philosophical, spiritual, metaphysical, etc bookshop and the variety of books they have is impressive for the space they have. The lady running this store is very kind and very informative. The people who volunteer there are kind and compassionate and encourage engagement in theological and philosophical discussions. They're all about community and welcoming here. This is a hidden gem in Seattle history. Right in the most beautiful part of Capitol Hill, the bookstore is a peaceful respite from the Broadway bustle. Walk inside and you are instantly greeted with low, soothing music and the smell of books. The selection ranges from New Age to Astrology to Metaphysics to Eastern Philosophy. I get into Buddhism and yoga and meditation, and I have found some treasures from time to time. Take your new purchase to the garden and listen to the birds while you sit and read. Or if you don't really want to buy a book, or if you need a lot of reference material, check out the library in the back. Built in 1920 as a part of the original Loveless Building, the Theosophical Lending Library is one of Seattle's oldest independent libraries. Nancy, the librarian, is very well-versed on the materials (over 7,000 works) and she will go out of her way to help you find whatever it is you are looking for. This is my peaceful spot. read more

Not enough words for how amazing this little book shop and and it's employees are. I could spend so much time in here. If you are on a spiritual path or just love reading about metaphysical subjects, this is your place. I visited a crystal and tarot store that is just a couple of blocks away and was recommended to come here after I asked about books regarding crystals. I will be coming here frequently. If you buy a book regarding astrology, I recommend paying the two bucks to have them pull up and print out your birth chart (if you know your exact birth time). read more

So I went to visit a friend in Capitol Hill at least once a year for a decade, and it still amazes me just how many times I've walked past this shop without realizing what it was -- a bookstore devoted to basically every religious, spiritual, and metaphysical POV out there. Utterly amazing. Linda and Greg were working in the store the first time I stopped by, and it felt like catching up with long-lost friends. It's a cozy, comfortable respite from the madness of Broadway. Oh, and if you have a USB drive handy, Linda can give you all the basic theosophical texts for free. Since I was traveling, I gave her the stick and she mailed it to me -- how kind! So a total bonus for learning about the Theosophical Society too. Wow. Thank you! With his genuine charm and his endless knowledge of all in the shop, I mentioned a favorite author of past life regression and a waterfall of more authors and books I'd love and enjoy came flowing out of him! Great selection of jewellery and crystals. Great lending library next door with a very calm space for reading and reflection. Very helpful staff in both the bookshops and lending library.
