You're about to walk by a bookstore..." The space is small but packed with interesting books - uniquely curated - and gifts. I met the owner, Maren, a friendly woman who helped me find the new Elizabeth Strout book. They have author events, poetry readings, and book clubs. I'll be back.

The store is very neat and organized, and everything is labeled so clearly. They have a large selection of books and a lot of popular and rare selections to choose from. The books were also all well priced, I didn't find a singular book about $10. Most of them ranged between $8-$10. The books are also really well kept and in good condition. The only downside is that it may be hard to find parking nearby, but otherwise fantastic!

Loved that they had a small children's section with so many selections. And a place to sit and have a drink (non alcoholic) while reading. It is family owned and they are super friendly! Super helpful and knowledgeable and are willing to place an order for your book if they don't carry it. I will def be bringing my family and friends to visit! OK here is what you get when you come to Ophelia's Books: a three-story bookstore next to a record…read moremusic store (shout out to Jive Records) AND has resident cats inside being all cute and silly as you shop around and browse. Oh, also super unique and adorable in the heart of Fremont. I came in looking for a popular book and I was so happy they had it in stock! My purchase was a new book but there were plenty of gently used books too. My eyes did so much wandering and reading on every single corner as I navigated through the store. When I realized there was a black handsome kitty cat getting settled in a cat bed on top of a bookshelf, I gushed and let him smell me before I gave him a pet (you know - pet rule is they gotta smell ya first). I want to say his name is Archive and I only heard one of the employees talking to him as they tended to the store and books. He was super sweet to me as I browsed the basement floor level of books. I bought a tote bag to bring back home to Texas with me too. The bookstore logo cat design is just super unique and is a great sturdy tote. I was able to place my records in there too so it is sizable for vinyl records too! Friendly service and kind recommendations based off of the book I purchased. Thank you for stocking me up for my plane ride back home.

5/5 they have store cats…read more Haha but in all honestly, it's a fantastic used bookstore in the Fremont area. It looks small when you first enter, but it actually has three floors. There's even a cute sitting area in the children's section! The store is well organized and they have a large selection of books to choose from. The books are well priced for used books. Definitely stop in if you're walking around the Fremont area! And if you're nice, the cats might even let you pet them. :)

I grew up regularly getting birthday gifts for friends from Magnolia's Bookstore. Yes, I was THAT kid who brought books to the party xD prob explains why I'm so verbose now ;P I digress... I get warm and fuzzies thinking back to childhood memories walking in, feeling welcome (I think a classmate's mom possibly worked here at that time, OR we truly visited frequently enough that we were indeed familiar customers), and taking our time browsing the wide selection to pick the just-right book. Today, when I visit my parents in Magnolia, I will always take any opportunity to step into the shop and step back in time. I feel as welcome as ever, and I kid you not -- it smells just as it did 2.5+ decades ago. Books aren't marked up, so value is standard, and it sure does feel good to support LOCAL. They still have their neon blue complimentary book marks. I sure hope they still provide wrapping services with fun, thin, curly ribbons placed on top like a dollop of whipped cream. If you're in Magnolia and still enjoy the feel of turning literal pages, stop by to find something to keep your nose in!

When I decided to reduce plastic waste in my household four years ago, I had to target my biggest…read moresource of plastic waste: Amazon plastic envelopes. Amazon had been an indispensable way to purchase books and anything at all. The unfortunate side of that is: LOTS OF PLASTIC WASTE. Not to mention trigger consumption! It's so easy to purchase anything. Just press a button and it's at your house in a day or two. This convenience is burying us. When I confronted this egregious source of plastic waste, we began ordering books from Magnolia's Bookstore and haven't looked back. They have a phone number you can call! If they don't have a book you want, you can order it! Sometimes I had to wait. And you know what? We didn't suffer! We had something to look forward to. We have done this a number of times - even when the prices are higher. Convenient and plastic things are cheaper on the front end, but far more expensive on the back end. For wildlife. For the ocean. For our health. Plastic is forever. There is no away. It continues to break down and complicate so many natural life cycles and ecosystems. So yeah, I am happy to pay the extra $$, and support our local bookstore in the process - especially Magnolia's bookstore! When my books come, they are delivered in a cardboard box from the publisher. A fantastic sustainable solution to packaging! The employees at Magnolia's bookstore are incredibly warm and friendly. They will wrap your books in beautiful paper if you want! Free of charge! They sell paper gift certificates, and even have a rewards program that earns me a free book every now and again! What's more, the store has a conscience! This year Magnolia's Bookstore is donating a $50 gift certificate to Magnolia's first ever "Reuse Raffle", in support of Earth Month! If you attend Magnolia's Vino in the Village event in April (discovermagnolia.com) and bring your own wine glass, you'll not only reduce Magnolia's single-use plastic waste footprint, but you'll earn a chance to win a gift certificate from Magnolia's Bookstore (your wine will taste better in glass too, so I'm told).
