Today I brought my car in for a tire rotation and multi-point inspection that I scheduled online for 7:00 a.m. only to discover that the technician was running late due to traffic. After my visit to Firestone on 3/22/18 I was quite pleased. I went in for a tire replacement and an oil change. I was told my car just needed a quick tune up and when I told the guy I would be back in a couple weeks he told me that would be fine. I assumed there were no immediate repairs or replacements needed. Just three days later (3/25/18) my car broke down in California! Dead battery! Upon reviewing the papers they gave me after my visit I noticed the first page said my battery was in good condition and they would check it again for free at my next visit. The back page, where they check all the boxes and record everything they looked at, had "replace battery" checked off. The AAA guy also said they would have known my battery was not good anymore because I was at a 22 and should be at 550. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Won't be going back and would not recommend. I would give NO STARS if possible. Fitestone at ONE TIME was good, they didn't up charge you or do work that wasn't authorized. They called and told me what the problem "was" I say was because my car is in the shop again with the same issue . They said it needed a few flush or something and they noticed the thermostat needed to be changed so I asked my ex-husband what could wait and what I needed to do right now and we told the guy on the phone just the thermostat because I didn't want to pay $800 was already looking at a $400 charge. So when I get the Firestone it's $800. Can you believe that ? So I call my ex-husband to tell them that he did not authorize it and he was in the middle of a sentence and they pretty much stopped listening after that. He thought I authorized it and I did not authorize it plus he isn't allowed to operate anything because it is my car we are divorced . So discover doesn't back me up either they say they sent documentation of your findings and that I signed the receipt I signed it under duress they have my keys in my car and what am I going to do just not pay them and find myself in jail because they called the police? No I didn't I thought I could have discovered this. But they say they have documentation of it and it's crap and I find that receipt so I can get my car and now they say I'm liable because I signed it. Do you not go to Firestone and I am still on the fence about discover. Don't use any Firestone in the valley because this is the second one I took it to that charged me $400 more than they quoted me and lied to the credit card company . I came in on a Sunday with a nail in my front passenger tire. Before I could get in the door, I had an employee headed towards me with a clipboard. They gave me an honest time and got the job done. As I sat in the lobby area, a "difficult" customer came in and spoke with the employee at the counter. To the employees credit, he offered excellent customer service, staying calm and professional even though the customer was somewhat animated. This was my very first time here. If I lived in the area, I would frequent more often. read more

This was not my first time going to Firestone but it will be my last. I had an appointment to get an oil change, tire rotation and full vehicle inspection. I was prompt to my 8am appointment, I introduced myself and stated I have an appointment. He failed to introduce himself and went ahead and looked up my name then said I had no such appointment. I told him my last name and now he sees I do have an appointment. He read off what I made the appointment for but failed to read the comments, which were a slight burnt scent thru my vents, so I suspect an oil leak.I point it out so that he can be aware and it can be properly inspected. He replies in a rude manner, "Yeah I read that here." I leave my keys and we go our separate ways. Fifteen minutes go by and I get a call from Firestone. First thing I hear is, "How much money are you willing to put into your car?" A bit aggressive and profoundly unprofessional from what sounds to be the same person (yet again fails to introduce himself). I'm caught off guard and ask, "why is that?" He replies saying that my engine is "saturated" with oil from multiple locations and $2000 to fix. In shock I reply, "Before I make a decision i need to make a couple phone calls and I will get back to you with my decision" and he accepts, we hang up. I'm a college student, living on a college student salary and Im living in a new state so I dont have the funds to cover those extensive costs. So I decide to get a second opinion. I call back and a different individual picks up (fails to introduce himself) and I tell him, "I would like to get a second opinion on my vehicle and I would like you to just park my car outside and I'll go pick it up." He respects my decision and confirms that nothing will be done. I go pick up my car from another individual (fails to introduce himself) to the surprise that they did not respect my wishes to leave my car alone and went along and did the full synthetic oil change (expensive) but not the tire rotation (cheap). So I bring that to light and ask why the oil change was done after I got confirmation that nothing was going to be done. He replies very condescendingly, "Well a car needs oil to run, it cannot run without oil inside of it." Which is funny because prior to my appointment I checked my oil, which was at the proper level, a bit dark but it was time for my oil change. I checked the floor under my engine for any oil spots, no oil spots. I do not have the best knowledge of cars but I am well versed in the situation of my vehicle. So unless there was a major leak that occurred in those fifteen minutes I did not see that it necessary to go ahead and take it upon themselves to go against my wishes. I didnt want to make a fuss about it because that was the main reason I brought it in so I went ahead and paid for the service that I didnt want done. As I inserted my card, the employee stepped away into the garage and pulled a mechanic to the side and had a good laugh and came back. In my head, this made me believe that they were laughing at my expense. So I got my keys and walked out with my paperwork, which was not properly read to me. I did not review the paperwork until I got home but when I did I was left with a lot of contradictions, but I'll just talk about the main issue. The paperwork said that my oil level was at "full level." So I thought to myself, my engine was "saturated" with oil and cars need oil to run, so if my oil was full prior to the oil change why was it dire to go against my wishes? My gut feeling was telling me that they were full-of-it and were just after money and up-selling at my expense. I needed a second opinion. I asked a friend for help and he recommended his mechanic which was an auto shop supervisor at a major local dealership. He reassured me that he is familiar with my vehicle and the issues that it comes with. So I drove over to his house, within seconds he gave me his professional opinion. I have an oil leak but in his words more of an "oil seep" due to the pressure and age but not anything major that would require an immediate $2,000 job. He also said that this seepage has probably been going on for at least a year and could not have happen in fifteen minutes. He did recommended some work, the parts would come out to $150. Huge difference compared to Firestone's quote of $2,000. Overall I learned that the nightmares that auto shop franchises are just want money and do not of the customer are true, especially at this Firestone. This will be that last time I bring my car to Firestone for even simple work even. They are not honest or trustworthy, which contradicts their mission statement of having the best service/values. In my opinion, after being victimized of their service and values I believe that they give a bad name to all honest working mechanics. I am thankful that I followed my gut and didnt settle with the recommendation of these name-less strangers at my neighborhood friendly Firestone. read more

I will not be coming back to this place. My car wouldn't start, tow it to the shop, they said it was the battery. I go pick it up, car doesn't start in their parking lot. They said it was the starter. Come back the next day, take it home, car doesn't start that night, tow it back, after 2 days, they say they can't fix the car, so I tow it somewhere else and find out the car didn't need a starter. I'm out $550 and all I heard were apologies (nice guys) and excuses. I don't think these guys know what they are doing. They want to guess at what repairs get done at your expense. They are way over priced. My car door lock was not working. I did a research on internet and was sure that the actuator was bad. And the part price was around 60$. So went to Firestone at Baseline in Tempe. The person said 50$ for diagnostics, 130$ to 150$ for parts and 100$ for labor charges. Also they are pushy and ready to lower the price when I questioned about the 50$ for diagnostics. Any way I told them I will be back later. Went to another local shop they diagnosed the problem for free and gave me an estimate for 63$ for parts and 65$ for labor. I found a online coupon for the shop and paid 118$ in total for the fix. read more

Each time I have work done they explain to me about issues that need addressing and others that can wait. I was desperate during the hot summer days of July to find my starter had died on my car. As a teacher I didn't have a lot of money to spend on necessary repairs and since it was a Sunday I could think of no other place to have my car towed. I made an "excellent decision" by coming to Firestone. Even though the manager on duty that Sunday said they were closing early for a company meeting he insisted I leave the car and he would specifically make time for it first thing Monday morning. Glad I did. He qualified me for a small line of credit that allowed my broke savings account to get the necessary car repair and got my car working flawlessly by noon the next day. He even called me a few days later to ask how my car was running.... Friendly and knowledgeable staff where you don't feel like you're being taken advantage of. Firestone in Tempe is probably the best one in the valley. Every time I have needed service, not only am I greeted with a smile, but the service is always top notch. Today, coming back from lunch, my tire pressure sensor went off, my husband advised me if I was close to this shop, go over and have them check it out. Sure enough, I had a nail right through the middle. The service was fast and professional, Jerrod at the front took my information, walked me through the process, let me know who would be working on the tire and when it was completed, they didn't even charge me for it. Ian Lapointe was the mechanic that addressed the nail and he made the entire process so easy, I was in an out in less then 30 minutes. Thank you to all of the guys at Firestone for assisting me, sometimes its hard being a woman in a man's world, but I have never felt taken advantage of and always receive the best service around. We took my 2013 Elantra in for an oil change and my husband also told them that the oil gauge was messed up and reading hot and he thought there was a leak.. They offered a full car inspection for $10 more. We received a call later saying it was ready and nothing had come up. My husband asked if everything was for sure okay because we aren't car people but we thought something else was wrong. They said they could do a dye test and we declined since we were trusting their judgement. The next day my husband drove it to a work event and when driving home the car completely died on the freeWay and the check engine light came on along with the oil temp and battery lights.. We had it towed back where they informed us it was completely dead. The radiator had failed causing the engine to blow. We asked why this wasn't caught and they told us they only did a visual inspection and we could have done a diagnostic test but that was never offered. We thought a FULL inspection meant it was going to be looked at. So now we went from a few hundred to repair to thousands. The car isn't paid off and now we may have to get a new car and not even have a car to trade in. They told us to check our warranty and that's about it. I am so upset because we only had over a year until it was paid off. We are not car people and took their professional help and it lead us to this. I will never go to firestone again but I am sure they could care less. Who knows if anything was checked or if they just did an oil change.. We didn't even receive a sorry just a "well if I had called you I would have told you..." which does nothing for us. We are a new family and down to one family car with student loan debt. I feel the need to give a big shout out to the guys at this location, Israel H. specifically. I went in there with a leak in a tire intending to get a nail removed and plugged only to find out that the nail was too close to the sidewall and could not be fixed. Israel understood that during the holidays money can be tight and I unfortunately could not spring for a new tire. Refusing to let me leave with a tire in that condition, Israel insisted on replacing the damaged tire with a completely new one. My parents have been going to firestone for years, so I decided to go in to get some tires for my car. I went in and was ignored for over 15 minutes. I asked the manager if anyone one could help me and he said he would be with me in a minute. I waited another 10 minutes and decided to leave. Terrible experience at Firestone. I am a Uber driver and this place does inspections. The only reason they do them is to get you to spend a fortune on things you don't really need for your vehicle.
