Recommended by a coworker I recently had the pleasure of visiting MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes. With so many options I always love to go the traditional route on any first time visit to get a sense of the meat quality, toppings and bun taste. Their signature burger is the MDC which consists of a Double Certified Angus Beef, American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, MOOYAH Sauce on a Signature Potato Bun. This burger was perfect, two good sized beef patties cooked to perfection, melted cheese and just enough sauce to not overtake all the goodness. The bun really stood out as MOOYAH uses a potato bun and it was really fresh and buttery. I think the bun is a difference maker in terms standing out from other burgers I have had in the past. With a combo you get a generous portion of fries which were decent as well as a refillable soda cup. This combo meal got me stuffed and the value was spot on. Definitely put MOOYAH on your hamburger destination list as you will not be disappointed with its vast menu of burger options. Fun fact about Mooyah is that they started in Texas and this Carlsbad location is the first in California as part of the westward expansion.

I had firehouse subs on two different occasions out of state. When I made it to California I had to find it again. A two hour drive from the Inland Empire got me what I was looking for. I wasn't disappointed. I'm not picky when it comes to sandwiches, but firehouse is consistently the best. Whether it's the Midwest, or So Cal, the food is great. I love the bread, the flavor. I have nothing negative to say...other than the two hour drive makes it a little challenging. read more

Far better choice than any Subway Restaurant Not that Subways are bad, especially if you don't mind a ratio of bred to meat being 75% bread/25% meat, but I've eaten at several Firehouse Subs and each time enjoyed a great sandwich heavily loaded with meat and vegetables, served hot with a mammoth drink. Where were those? They weren't readily visible (again, they are on the back counter behind the employee prepping the sandwiches), but surely would have loved more veggies if only we had been asked! So taking a star off for that. Maybe if the store had all the veggies in trays on the front counter as they used to, we'd have known they were there and it wouldn't matter about being asked because they'd be right there to see. But as we'd not been there for a while, I assumed they were casualties of the COVID times and no longer being offered. Aw well, next time.

What keeps me from coming back very often is how much the price of an extra larg sub sandwich has increased. It's almost $20 now as of the time of this review. Though admittedly, I will say the nostalgia is what keeps me coming back.
