Mooyah popped up on my Yelp feed - and the location seemed quite familiar, but had never seen the place. So when my wife and I were in the general area, I popped in the address into the GPS, and away we went. Straight to a strip mall I pass through once a week. This place is tucked inside, near the CVS - easy to miss (obviously)!! We went inside and ordered - FRIENDLY crew! I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries to share - my wife ordered a basic cheeseburger. We were given a pager (the kind with lights to alert you to pick up), and we sat down. VERY cool little touch - the tables have Qi charging stations behind them. When the pager went off, I picked up our burgers - DAMN they looked great! The fries to share? Umm.....for about four people - seriously huge pile! And tasty! But the burger - this was absolutely a great burger - cooked to perfection, and just quality all the way through. Lately at the office we have been on a burger kick trying all the popular burgers joints in the Carlsbad/Oceanside area. Recommended by a coworker I recently had the pleasure of visiting MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes. With so many options I always love to go the traditional route on any first time visit to get a sense of the meat quality, toppings and bun taste. Their signature burger is the MDC which consists of a Double Certified Angus Beef, American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, MOOYAH Sauce on a Signature Potato Bun. This burger was perfect, two good sized beef patties cooked to perfection, melted cheese and just enough sauce to not overtake all the goodness. The bun really stood out as MOOYAH uses a potato bun and it was really fresh and buttery. I think the bun is a difference maker in terms standing out from other burgers I have had in the past. With a combo you get a generous portion of fries which were decent as well as a refillable soda cup. This combo meal got me stuffed and the value was spot on. Definitely put MOOYAH on your hamburger destination list as you will not be disappointed with its vast menu of burger options. My 7 year old and I were in the area and ready for dinner. I had to talk him out of going g to McD's - which we were both so glad we did! We found Mooyah on Google and it did not disappoint. The burgers were so fresh and filling. I like mine with pickles and appreciate they were thicker cut, not flimsy slices. The fries, oh the fries...I'd come back for those alone. They look fresh cut, with the skins on, very similar to Five Guys who I think has the best fries out there. The best way to have them prepared for sure! My son's milkshake was full of Oreo pieces too big to suck through a straw. He got a kick out of that. Ambiance was clean and pleasant. I liked how they had phone chargers behind the booth seating, although I didn't need one. I also love how all of the plates and cups were compostable! Way to go!! My first experience here was terrible, bad communication, burnt fries and our burgers were not even warm, just room temperature. We placed an online order since we were close by at a nearby coffee shop, we went over to pick up our order. We stood by the pick up counter and were ignored. No greeting or we will be with you shortly, nothing. They weren't even busy. We waited for 10 minutes and asked an employee walking by about our order. It was just sitting on the counter getting cold. We ordered the patty melt burger, hot bacon jam burger, the family sized fries and a couple of shakes. The burgers weren't even hot, the fries were most burnt ends and tasted like they were cooked in super old fry oil. Absolutely awful. Someone reached out to us to share our thoughts and we told them what happened. They sent us gift cards to give them another try, we did and but it became such a hassle to even use them. The staff was unaware they offered gift cards, they didn't want to honor the gift cards, and then decided to only give us a partial discount. We were told we had $40 to spend and were only able to use part of it. There was so much confusion and miscommunication just to give them another chance, it was not worth it. Today was our third time visiting Mooyah burgers. We went there once when it first opened & it was okay, (think they were still working out the kinks). The second time was a few months ago and today was due to the request of our uber picky son who asked to come here for lunch. We ordered at the counter and grabbed a seat. In a few minutes our buzzer was going off and the husband went up to the counter and grabbed our food. Everything was good. Fries were hot and crispy and looked like they came from actual real potatoes(not pushed out through a machine), husbands burger with potato chips was really good and my chicken tender sandwich was delicious too. The last two times I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger and I really liked that as well. The kid gobbled down his food and the majority of my fries too, so I'm guessing that he liked his food a lot. We also got him a cookies and cream shake, which he loved. The hubby said it was very thick and it didn't look like they skimped on the Oreos at all. This place is always busy, but they seem to be actively cleaning off the tables and people are going in and out quickly, so seating has never been an issue. There's also extra seating outdoors, if you're so inclined. A gentleman, (not sure if it was the owner or manager), but he came out from the kitchen and checked to see if everything was alright. We nodded and grinned with our mouths full. Everything was on point today! We shall be back Mooyah. My old man said that he's ordering the patty melt next time. I love me some in-n-out, but if you're looking for a switch up, look no further than MOOYAH. My go-to order is just the cheeseburger which uses a soft potato bun, a beefy patty and topped with delicious MOOYAH sauce and classic veggies. They also offer a number of different burger options to your liking. I also think it's nice that they offer either fries or chips as the side in case you're craving one or the other. I tried their Mooshake which was just okay, not as thick as I thought. The chocolate chips in the mint chip shake are also too large to go through the straw, so you need a spoon to eat this. There's a decent amount of seating inside and outside and the staff are all incredibly welcoming and friendly! I'd definitely recommend MOOYAH for their solid burgers and fries! read more

We were visiting the Flower Fields and were craving a good, juicy burger. We had seen Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes on social media and decided to stop by and give it a try--and we're really glad we did. Let's just say this was one of the best burgers I've ever had. My pregnant wife absolutely loved it and even joked that the baby was happy too. We ordered the MDC Burger and the Mushroom Swiss Burger, and both were incredible. The burgers were juicy, delicious, and packed with flavor. Everything tasted fresh and perfectly cooked. The fries were amazing--crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, exactly how fries should be. I also had an Oreo shake, and it was thick, creamy, and absolutely delicious. On top of the great food, the service was excellent. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and made the experience even better. Small shop, great burgers, great shakes. The burgers are very good here. The patties themselves aren't enormous but they are very well seasoned and delicious. The buns are also very nice and soft. You can order one of their creations (we tried the Cheddar Bacon BBQ) or build your own. For the Build Your Own, I added pepper jack cheese, mushrooms, jalapeños, bacon, and spicy sauce. It turned out to be a huge burger and it was outstanding. The Cheddar Bacon BBQ was also good. The fries are clearly housemade, which I appreciated, but were not very crispy or well-seasoned. They reminded me of In-N-Out fries, which are not good, to say the least. Maybe it's just a personal preference but I prefer crispy fries. The shake we tried (peanut butter cup) was also freshly-made and was terrific. It was as thick as concrete and I don't care if you need a spoon to eat it. It's wonderful. I almost forgot: they also have a (not so) secret menu that is available at the front counter or online. These offerings are far more daring, like a hot dog on your burger, and honestly, they sounded really good. Just add me to the list of all the many other 5 star reviews. I was absolutely impressed. Glad we tried this placed after our flower fields trip. Too bad we are in Los Angeles, or we would be visiting every weekend. I was recommend to come here because I was craving fries. Their shakes are also one of their things that they are known for. I bought a coffee flavored shake because at 7pm they ran out of chocolate, huh? I ordered the double of fries well done because I was bringing some home for the wife also. They were hot when I got them but well done was not achieved. They are fine with their seasoning on them but not something I'm going to think about when I'm in the area. Shake was good and thick, because it wasn't chocolate the best I could give it was a 4. This place is tiny so I would recommend getting your food to go if you live near by or plan on eating it in your car if you're just in the area. As she was ordering toppings the cashier stopped her has pointed out the fried onion strings had a bit of gluten in the batter.
