***update just read customers have been complaining for a YEAR about the restroom lock not working at all and TWO YEARS customers have been complaining it malfunctions, that's wild!*** Seriously THE best subs period. No comparison. Does it look messy, yes, but understand I get extra Mayo so that adds to the mess. Disregard the mess and understand THIS is where you should be getting your sub fix. ONLY reason they don't get 5 stars is for months ppl tell them the second bathroom doesn't lock and they still haven't fixed it. That's the only reason I'm writing it in a review so that hopefully itll reach the right person because it's still not fixed. It's not always the cleanest dining area, I figure they must have been slammed before getting there the days that it's not clean. It does take a bit of time to get your food but it's because there's a process and it's a delicious process to make your sub taste the way it does. The app is set up to notify me when my sub is ready but it still won't notify me. So I went to get my sub and the guy was nice and offered to remake it because it'd sit there for a long time. I explained why I hadn't come, app never showed it as ready. So I went to a store for a bit while I waited. Then got tied up there. So that part isnt their fault at all. So I told him I so appreciate his offer. Again was nice that he went the extra mile to offer that. Cause their subs do get soggy if they sit. That's to be expected. But I'm the one who got tied up and was late. Sub still tasted absolutely amazing and 5 stars for the sub and the guy who offered remaking it. Wasn't necessary. Still a 5 star sub. Please note that I was in a hurry and did NOT tell this shift of ppl about the lock not working. Lock works on first bathroom but not the second. When I went and saw it wasnt working I used the first one and warned the guy going to the second one that the lock doesn't work and they said they were just washing their hands. They knew and reported it. So I helped my little boy to wash his in the first bathroom and then left in a hurry forgetting to let staff know. But since it's been reported months ago by me and others I know go there a lot and now that guy, I didn't feel the need to go back. So I hope since it's been reported again it gets fixed. Anyways that's the only reason it lost two stars. Bathrooms need to lock. Once it's fixed this place EASILY. Gets 5 stars. Subs are THAT good!!!! read more

Always a good sandwich. Bread is fresh. Sandwiches are nice sized. My go to is the meatball sub. Nice and tasty and messy. Go with the nine inch. You won't leave hungry or over stuffed. I think staffing is an issue here. We've been to this location. Multiple times and they seemed to be short staffed. But with that said, the staff they do have seem to work pretty good in that situation. We've encountered a couple staff members who are a tad lazy. And the pickle spears are the best. I have to say I wouldn't imagine giving a sandwich shop 5 stars but it was worth it. I had a coupon to use but I had to use it online. I downloaded the app and looked at the menu and ordered easily enough. There's quite a selection. I placed my order and it told me the time it would be ready. I ended up being a few minutes early but was happily greeted and told it would be done shortly, I could grab my chips and drink whilst I waited. I love the fireman decor and the cause this restaurant supports. My order was indeed ready quickly and the staff was so nice and friendly. Most San Diego restaurant staff should train here first, better service than I have had most high end restaurants. When I read several reviews I was skeptical because they said this was the best sandwich they ever had. I have to say it was excellent sandwich they weren't wrong. Worst customer service and sandwiches I have ever had. I know cause I ordered the same 7 hook and ladder sub sandwiches with 7 cookies for different members of my family. We ordered all 7 sandwiches without the ham, Turkey, cheese and mayonnaise and had ordered extra veggies (tomato, lettuce and onions) on all of them except one, as well as normal mustard and pickle on the side. You think they would be more generous with the veggies since you are not getting the expensive meat.. well no, they were skimpy on veggies and didn't even include onions or mustard on all orders! Before I left, I noticed 3 of them, done by the younger male employee did not have cookies!! I had to call his attention to this. I should have checked each order but I didn't know customer service sucks so bad here. In addition, when I got home, 4 did not have pickles either. NONE of the sandwiches had onions or mustard and all of them had skimpy veggies - not the extra veggies that we had ordered. On top of all the errors, one had white bread - when I had ordered all wheat bread!!! One has bits of meat when we had ordered NO meat!!! mayonnaise all over one of the sandwiches when we ordered none. Can you make any more errors??? Customer service the worst. They just do not care! They didn't just mess up on one order, they messed up on EVERY SINGLE ORDER!!! Will not come back again unless they offer to remake all my whole order right again and then some!! read more

It was our first time here, and we were pretty surprised by how delicious everything was. We got the mac n cheese, the chili, and a couple of subs. Mac n cheese was good, but it had a slightly weird after taste. Chili was good. Subs were great, although they made a few mistakes. Something to note is that they seemed somewhat slammed, and they kept getting customers walking up to them to have them remake their sandwiches due to mistakes. I was one of them (they used the wrong bread). I didn't realize it until I took a look at my husband's sandwich (because again, it was our first time here). I had already taken a couple of bites out of it as well. They ended up taking my sandwich back and reusing the meats and toppings in it and putting it into a new bread. I'm conflicted because although I hate wasting food, this is a huge health code violation...not to mention we are in the middle of a pandemic. Meatball sub was okay. I came in here a couple months back and I waited about 25 minutes (it was empty except for one or two other people waiting for their sandwiches) for 2 sandwiches. Decent quality subs. I like they have 3 sizes of sandwich to pick from instead of the usual 2 sizes. The staff at this location was very nice and helpful. I wanted to take pictures of our subs, but hunger got the best of us! Hahah but I was introduce to this place back when I was in Twentynine Palms. I had to drive maybe 30 minutes or so to get to one. You may ask yourself "that worth it?" Yes very! Now that I have moved out here, and found this little gem, you bet I have gone here many times. My husband's favorite is the smokehouse beef & cheddar brisket, I prefer the New York steamer. But both sandwiches are to die for! With a nice juicy pickle and chips or cookie! And your set!
