Once again, at this particular location, not a good experience. I LOVE Firehouse Subs, and I have tried many of their locations during business travel when I just want a good sub, especially a hot one. But this location continues to go downhill. Like all similar chains, they start great, with friendly service and lots of staff taking care of customers. Then apparently the budget tightens or the franchise owner just milks it without putting much back into it. On this visit, there were only two staff people, one young girl at the cash register, and one guy making the subs. It was slightly before than "prime time," so I figured it may have made sense to have only 2 workers in the whole restaurant. I ordered a small sub as I've done sometimes before (though I usually order large). This time I got a TINY sub. Then I thought about it, and I realized that I paid less this time, only 5 bucks. It was worth about 3 bucks, one buck per bite. I don't always notice or pay attention to the money transaction, but I always pay attention to things like cleanliness, rudeness, poor food quality, portion sizes, and so on. I actually took a picture of this "small" sub, because even for 5 bucks, this was laughably small to me. But my biggest issue was with the guy who prepared the sub. He was about as friendly as a turd. He looked like he was having a miserable day, so I smiled and said thank you as I always do. He didn't reply, so I again looked at him and said thank you, and he looked at me as though he clearly heard me, but still didn't respond. That's inexcusable, in my opinion. I realize this isn't a $100 chop house, but how hard is it to say you're welcome to a customer? Or thank you? Or have a nice day? Even if you're having a bad day, if you can't reply to a customer who's being nice to you, maybe you're in the wrong line of work. read more

I've been in this Firehouse multiple times over the last month and the A/C has been broken the entire time. It's crazy hot, it looks like the employees have brought in fans because of it and as a result, the employees are sweating into the food. read more

Great food, great customer service! They give out fire hats with the kids meals. My son loved that! We were asked a few times how we liked the food and if they could do anything else for us. We even received complimentary chocolate chip cookies (so soft and yummy!) read more

OMG! I am pretty picky when it comes to food. I ate at Firehouse Subs for the 1st time and expected to have mediocre food. However, I ended up having the most delicious sandwich I've ever eaten! I got the pulled pork sandwich with slaw topping. The flavors and textures were amazing. Their sauce and sandwich rolls are truly delicious. I should start this review by noting that I'm motivated to write this based on recent issues (the last 2 times I visited) this Buckeystown Pike location. I *love* Firehouse Subs' food itself, and until recently, loved this location too. But I'm starting to have real concerns that people would be wise to skip this one, and go to a different store, at least until management gets their act together again. When I last went here, maybe a few weeks ago? It was during the middle of the day, after the usual lunch rush. The place was pretty full, with a number of people in line in front of me. I thought, "Wow... busy today." But only after I paid for my order and sat down did I start realizing why. People were waiting on their orders for about 25-35 minutes each, because supposedly the steamers were broken. I guess they were only able to heat one sandwich at a time or something. And then? The soda machine was down too. I was told I could "pick a drink from the freezer case" in place of the fountain drink I paid for. Ok -- but the freezer case selection was pretty bare too! I wound up taking a chocolate milk more suitable for small kids. It took so long for them to make my sub that I almost gave up and walked out because I had to get back to work. Well, fast-forward to this afternoon. I figured that had to be a "one off" bad day, so I gave Firehouse another try. First thing I encountered was a customer blocking me in line. He was all angry his order hadn't been served to him yet, despite everyone else who was there after him getting a sandwich. The staff looked harried and tried to quickly apologize and promise his sandwich was coming up next. (I went around him and placed my own order.) Then, I proceeded to discover the soda machine had no ice in it! Another customer just laughed and said, "Just great.... no ice. Figures...." and asked one of the crew when they'd have more ice. They just said they didn't know and were waiting on somebody to bring them some more. Meanwhile, as I waited for my order, I saw them call two more names and give orders to more people besides the angry guy who was STILL waiting for his food! He went back up to say something else to the lady at the register, but I didn't even catch the rest of that conversation. By the time I was done eating, they STILL had no ice for the soda machine. read more

Great place! Employees are always friendly. To be completely honest, we usually go to the firehouse off of 26 because we are a little closer to that one, but it always closes earlier so if not we come to this one. That being said we still eat firehouse enough for both locations to know our faces. Anyway, 10:50 pm we go in and get our subs and card is declined, we had to do debit which they don't do on their machines. Cash or credit. Which is fine, except for when you buy two 20$ advanced supply drops off of advanced warfare call of duty, and your bank thinks it's a fraudulent charge and turns off your card. Embarrassing enough! The nice gentlemen there let us leave with the food and said it was totally cool, but my lovely boyfriend still plans to take him 30$ tomorrow just cause'. That being said it's a lovely establishment with great employees. Will continue to come! (Ps this firehouse also puts more meat on their subs which is more than I can say for the other) read more

I have eaten here since they opened. This is one of my favorites for a sub. Have tried all of them and have my go to subs of club, meatball and spicy Italian. This place is decent at best. I have been 3 times. Similar to a quiznos, not quite as good as Jimmy Johns. They seemed understaffed and take a while to make your sub. They steam the meat so it gets real wattery and makes your sandwich soggy. The people there are friendly but the quality is just not that great. read more

Good sub shop! Great sweet tea and good drink selections! Also they have lots of chip choices and Mrs.Vickie's chips! My favorite sub here is the Italian sub! There ham is sweet so it's not good to get that just by itself unless you like really sweet honey ham. That's why the Italian sub is good because it's sweet and spicy! But it's better to eat it otherwise the subs get soggy. read more

My fiance and I checked out this place because we didn't want the usual places. I had the "Hook and Ladder." It was one of the best subs I have had in a long time. The bread was soft and the taste was just excellent. The only issue I had is that it took a while and they seemed a little unorganized, but it was totally worth the wait. Very good. Sandwiches are quality with a good portion of meat. Was there with two others, all of us our first time. We all came away happy with good things to say. Love the hot sauce selection. I want to like this place, because it is close to my work and, well, firemen are our friends. Unfortunately, they fail on all three counts of taste, service and value. This was the worst veggie sub I've ever had. Also, nothing bugs me more than when the veggie sandwich isn't really discounted from the meat overload sandwhiches. Am I to believe that a pile of meat is only $.50? Especially when you can "double the meat" for $2.00? So, I feel a little cheated. Also, they got my order wrong, and three other people's orders wrong, in the 15 minutes it took me to get my sandwich. Possibly because there were no less than three employees not doing anything while one poor guy tried to keep up with all the orders. I've also had the Hook and Ladder (turkey, ham, monterey jack). This sandwich was better than the veggie (hard not to be), but not better than comparable sandwiches at every other sub shop I've ever been to. It's a pass. read more
