This is like Chipotle but mediterranean and the portions are actually pretty good for the price - it's more expensive but look at how much food I got! It tasted good and the service was friendly although a bit slow during lunch rush.

Bowls. They offer many choices!

It feels like healthier version of Chipotle plus much more options! I ordered a bowl and there were so many choices! The staff was friendly and attentive throughout ordering. The bowl was came with a small piece of pita bread which is soft and chewy. I like this place a lot, will definitely revisit soon!

This was my first time going to Mezeh and it was really delicious. I am not personally a fan of CAVA but wanted to try this place and I am so glad I did. Everything tasted super fresh. The falafel was not bland at all and had great flavor with a great crunch on the outside. The chicken was also great with a great amount of heat! Try the Greek Feta dressing if you're into vinaigrettes with a bit of twist. Also, they will make fresh bread for you and it's super good when it's hot!

This is the best place i have ever been to my dad and i come here almost every single Friday night we sometimes suggest this place to people and bring them with us. We pick this place over every food place in frederick. The food and flavors are amazing and the service is excellent! if your looking for something different or somewhere to go come here!

delicious!!!

If you ever had Roti in MoCo or Zoe's Kitchen, this is that combination in a CAVA/Chipotle like pick-n-choose eatery. The steak is tender and juicy, you can't get that at CAVA nor Chipotle which everything there is extremely spicy. This is a combination of Indian / Mediterranean tastes. Gotta go back for some more.

Rice and meat is always greasy and all of sauces have been thinned with water or oil. Won't be back to this location.

They notified my hubby that they needed 5 more minutes to get all our order cooked, and put together. Minor comment- though I like the flavor both green and tamarind sauces were a little thin. I like a thicker sauce for dipping. Also the fries though well-seasoned could be crunchier. Still highly recommend trying them out. I have two more meals from my platter.

Everything on the menu is packing a fairly hefty punch of flavor, and the servings are generous. There was a short line when I arrived, but the counter-style service moved pretty quickly and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Sometimes counter-style is surly and brusque; not here. The staff go out of their way to make sure that you get all the toppings you might enjoy. As a first-time customer, I appreciated that. The shop itself is small with some seating but nobody was dining in; this was not because it's not popular (see the aforementioned line), I think they're just primarily geared towards takeout. I'll definitely be back, especially if I'm in the neighborhood anyway.

We got a medium Falafel sandwich and a Shawarma sandwich. Wow. Delicious. I actually may have liked the Falafel just slightly better but both were excellent. I also got an extra garlic sauce on the side... just love. Until next time.

It's a small mart that specializes in middle eastern Mediterranean cuisine and ingredients. They place does not have seating inside, but plenty of seating outside. So plan on either take out or picnicking. They make the food right as you order so things are fresh. The part I really liked about this place was that the sauces were not overly salted - to increase shelf life - and the amount of oil/butter was not overly used to try to mask the ingredients. It's more on the "let the ingredients speak for itself" which I really dig. In the end, you don't feel heavy after the meal and you feel like you had a hearty and healthy meal. My favorite was the lamb shawarma. He toasts the outside pita and it gives it a nice crunch. The lamb is fresher than other places and he doesn't over season it to hide the lamb smell. Other places - if you notice - tends to use cumin a lot of mask the lamb smell. Not here though. The falafel sandwich was okay. It was colder than the lamb shawarma. But the falafels were made right there in front of you. I got the sujuk sandwich too (which is a type of sausage). It was a breakfast burrito basically. Our order took 20 mins to make and he makes it right when you order. So be prepared to stay there and peruse around. Some ingredients there were interesting. The one thing that caught my eye was a bottle of pomegranate molasses. He sells it close to 50% what Harris Teeter would charge and he has various brands of pomegranate molasses. I use pomegranate molasses to make grenadine for cocktails. Also has orange blossom and rose water (also both used for cocktails) I like this place and the guy is nice and sweet.

This is truly gourmet level. I have searched high and low for the perfect steak sandwich, including super pricey steakhouses, and always felt like something was missing. Well Matto-Press is twice as good as any $30 steak sandwich I've ever had. The meat is unbelievably tender, the cheese is high end and the flavors of the pickled vegetables and made-from-scratch sauces are out of this world. After I had stuffed myself with steak sandwiches 2 nights in a row (yes I followed them to another location the next day because I had to have more lol), I decided to try the planter rice bowl, which happens to be vegan. I'm not vegan and don't go seeking vegan meals but I do like to eat a ton of veggies so this was right up my alley. Ummmm do yourself a favor and get the bowl with potatoes rather than rice. The potatoes have a ton of flavor, as do the veggies. And it's soooooo filling. This is absolutely some of the best food I have had in Frederick and Frederick has a lot of great food and I've probably tried all of it :). Thank you Matt and team for delivering such high quality deliciousness to us food lovers!

The Dip Sampler and the Meat Sampler are standouts. The Dip Sampler has a variety of yummy dips and warm pita. Hummus can vary a lot in different restaurants, and this one is good, creamy with not too much garlic. We both enjoyed the Meat Sampler at our first dinner and took home leftovers - nice variety of meats. It comes with a good basmati rice but you can also choose a salad or French Fries. Gotta love a place that offers you both! This visit, I had the Moussaka Entree (gluten free) which was a special that night. It was tasty with no spice that overwhelmed the dish. Nice size slice with a salad with tomatoes. My husband had the Chicken Kebob which came with three skewers of chicken and salad (instead of the French Fries). We both took some food home especially after the Dip Sampler. We arrived around 5 pm and got the benefit of the Happy Hour price of $2 off a draft beer ($6 instead of $8) and $1 off the martini. The baklava has a generous supply of nuts, and I have enjoyed the Baklava Cheesecake at home for dessert. The restaurant decor is relaxing and attractive with thoughtful touches like a little table for your purse or to put your leftover containers on. The metal artwork tree, wicker lamps and paintings on the wall contribute to the cozy ambiance. Service has been prompt with someone coming over to greet us quickly. For my espresso martini, they had run out of espresso, but someone went to buy espresso from a coffee shop instead of telling me to order something else. Aleko's is a lovely, neighborhood gem. It is also on Resy for reservations.

TLDR: Hot food on a cold night. Oompah!…read more I used to stop for takeout at Aleko's old location in a gas station when I refereed games at the local high school. Great food, great value. But 6 weeks ago they moved to a full sit-down restaurant a mile and a half away. With my wife off at a community group dinner, I thought I would see how the new place stacked up. The inside was bright and warm, tables and chairs were comfortable, and very quiet even though almost every table was in use. These days this is a rare but well-appreciated thing; my old ears approved. I was quickly seated and handed a menu and wine list. Wine list contained quite a few Greek wines and beers. I like reds that are, well, a bit rough so I went with one recommended by the waiter. Good choice. Good choice! The food menu contained all of my old favorites. No fancy Greek/Asian/Inuit fusion here, thank Zeus! I was getting ready to order the gyro platter when the owner casually mentioned that lamb shanks with roasted potatoes were the night's special. Score! My food was delivered very, very quickly, and it exceeded my expectations. Lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender, well seasoned, and covered with a simple Greek tomato sauce. Potatoes were well cooked (but not as crispy as I usually like), but their feta and olive oil sauce was superb. Beautiful fluffy rice and a simple salad of romaine lettuce, tomatoes, feta and a light vinaigrette were also included. Everything was delicious! Overall, servings were generous and prices were reasonable. And yes, they still offer carry out, something to keep in mind the next time I drive through Middletown on my way anywhere. And even if I'm not driving through, Aleko's is worth the trip all by itself.
