When I first walked in, I was a little confused because they were blasting reggaeton with the color scheme is green, white and red yet the menu really matches all the Greek Mediterranean places around. The guy behind the counter just looked at me and I was the one that had to say hello. How are you? He said he was good and I asked if they were any lunch specials and he looked at me confused. I repeated my question and he indicated there are no lunch specials. So I ordered a Gyro bowl. For the toppings, he just began grabbing everything, but I had to indicate yes or no even after he had grabbed certain toppings, and it became a little awkward. When it came to the sauces, I made it very clear. I wanted only a little bit, but he continued to drown the ball to the point where it's basically a sauce soup. At checkout and asked for a tip and he was staring at me. Once I completed my order, he indicated I could go grab my utensils off in the corner. I just find it so distasteful that these places continue to ask for an additional tip yet they won't provide service. The bowl itself was OK, just barely hit the threshold of edible, but I could barely differentiate the ingredients in the soup. It was clear the Gyro meat was not freshly shaving and was chopped up earlier in the day and reheated, the browning was all around the meat in a way that proved it have been refreshed compared to freshly shaven gyro meat, and at that, but it still wasn't even hot. It is sincerely baffling that this place has a higher rating than the big Greek (Urbana, and now in weather) because their service, atmosphere, authenticity, and product all fall extremely short in comparison.

This is truly gourmet level. I have searched high and low for the perfect steak sandwich, including super pricey steakhouses, and always felt like something was missing. Well Matto-Press is twice as good as any $30 steak sandwich I've ever had. The meat is unbelievably tender, the cheese is high end and the flavors of the pickled vegetables and made-from-scratch sauces are out of this world. After I had stuffed myself with steak sandwiches 2 nights in a row (yes I followed them to another location the next day because I had to have more lol), I decided to try the planter rice bowl, which happens to be vegan. I'm not vegan and don't go seeking vegan meals but I do like to eat a ton of veggies so this was right up my alley. Ummmm do yourself a favor and get the bowl with potatoes rather than rice. The potatoes have a ton of flavor, as do the veggies. And it's soooooo filling. This is absolutely some of the best food I have had in Frederick and Frederick has a lot of great food and I've probably tried all of it :). Thank you Matt and team for delivering such high quality deliciousness to us food lovers!

She loved it. I got the Gyro Pita with a side salad and my son got the Gyro Pita with fries. A friend of ours got the Chicken Souvlaki with Lemon Potatoes and we all lived our meals. For dessert, we all got the Chocolate Brownie, which had some whipped cream on top, and came warm. It was absolutely fantastic! We will definitely be back, but even for nights where we want to eat at home they have carryout. Give it a try. Nice place, delicious food, and very nice people. You can't lose.

The Dip Sampler and the Meat Sampler are standouts. The Dip Sampler has a variety of yummy dips and warm pita. Hummus can vary a lot in different restaurants, and this one is good, creamy with not too much garlic. We both enjoyed the Meat Sampler at our first dinner and took home leftovers - nice variety of meats. It comes with a good basmati rice but you can also choose a salad or French Fries. Gotta love a place that offers you both! This visit, I had the Moussaka Entree (gluten free) which was a special that night. It was tasty with no spice that overwhelmed the dish. Nice size slice with a salad with tomatoes. My husband had the Chicken Kebob which came with three skewers of chicken and salad (instead of the French Fries). We both took some food home especially after the Dip Sampler. We arrived around 5 pm and got the benefit of the Happy Hour price of $2 off a draft beer ($6 instead of $8) and $1 off the martini. The baklava has a generous supply of nuts, and I have enjoyed the Baklava Cheesecake at home for dessert. The restaurant decor is relaxing and attractive with thoughtful touches like a little table for your purse or to put your leftover containers on. The metal artwork tree, wicker lamps and paintings on the wall contribute to the cozy ambiance. Service has been prompt with someone coming over to greet us quickly. For my espresso martini, they had run out of espresso, but someone went to buy espresso from a coffee shop instead of telling me to order something else. Aleko's is a lovely, neighborhood gem. It is also on Resy for reservations.

I opted for the chips instead of the french fries to cut some calories Feels very much like an old school neighborhood pub. Looking around, and taking the fact that it's a very small town, I can see this being a social focal point for the area. A nice full bar. There wasn't anything to dislike about it, nice people, nice food, warm, and comfortable, easy five stars. BUT.
