Butter Naan and Goat vindaloo

Indian wok is really good not one of those flashy restaurants. It's worth ordering from there. I ordered the goat, vindaloo

Garlic Naan, butter chicken and samosa.

Depressing s the only word that comes to mind. My wife, son and I have enjoyed eating Indian Wok on and off for years now. We've noticed the quality going down over the past year, but tonight was the final straw. We've noticed ordered butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and samosas. All of them were simply awful. They only gave us 1 bin of rice even though we paid for 2 entrees as well. The chicken was hard (overcooked) the sauces were hideous (bland and overly creamy) with no spices visible to the eye. And the worst part was I walked in and the chef/cook was out in the takeout area twice and didn't acknowledge my existence. Piss poor customer service and completely underwhelming product = losing our business. Sucks as there are a very...limited number and of quality Indian spots in Frederick that are worth the money.

Super friendly host and delicious food. Cant wait to go back! The place has a couple of tables but they are for waiting for your food rather than an eatery. It is a to go place. The food was phenomenal. We order the Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, and the rosemary and garlic naan. The naan includes 2 big pieces and it was delicious. Can't wait to go back! We ate all the food before taking any pictures. :)

I am Quarantined with the C word and decided to order something different to spice up my life. We ordered a bunch of things and they all were good. It was all quite spicy- not too much to stand but enough that I drank 3 bottles of water. Spicy chili naan. 5stars. So good. But, knowing the spice level of everything else I might have tried a different flavor. It was spicy too. Spring roll 3stars. Samosas 4 stars because the green dip was good. Crispy spicy French fries:7,765 stars. Sooo good. If you're looking for a different appetizer, TRY. these. Chefs special biryani: 4.5 stars Prawn vindaloo:5Stars. So good. Large shrimp. Delicious sauce. My only negative comment is that I asked what to get my 2yo, and I ordered it. But, it was still too spicy for my kid. With that said, I'm not mad, cause then I ate his food. Just telling you, in case you're looking to order for a young kid. And they were super nice and accommodating on the phone. Forgot to take pics until we served ourselves, so don't judge on portion size! We had plenty of food with lots of leftovers.

In the middle of a depressed strip mall kinda on the outskirts of town, I happened to be driving by it while running into the Dollar Tree store in the same strip and it caught my eye. I wouldn't have even tried it if it weren't for the couple of good reviews found here on Yelp. I was pleasantly surprised! Placed the order through Yelp (which shows up as GrubHub). When you enter the restaurant, it's only a counter and nothing else...looks kinda dingy but the smells coming out of the kitchen were amazing! Ordered: Samosas (excellent) Naan (huge piece for 99 cents) Aloo Gobi (Cauliflower and potatoes and peas) And Manchurian Cauliflower- this is a tough one as it's breaded and unless eaten immediately, turns soggy and goopy. I would skip this next time. I requested mild but it could have used a touch more spicing. But my husband, who is sort of on the fence with Indian food and doesn't like things spicy at all, really liked it. I would do this again!

Great Indian carry out. We've enjoyed them several times but still need to try the Asian side of the menu.

First time customer via grubhub. Best Indian food in this area, no doubt. Looking forward to checking it out in person post pandemic.

Quite a surprising place…read more We didn't know Frederick offered good Indian cuisine, but once we tried this place we loved the buffet over our usual regular down closer to DC. The chicken is tender and soft. The interior is dimly lit and more soothing. The staff is attentive and plentiful. There are several people constantly walking around that can help you. The choices on the buffet has a good variety and they have name plates that tell you if it is vegetarian or not. I enjoyed my experience here and plan to come back here.

Easter Sunday lunch buffet was $30/person but you can alternatively order from the regular menu…read more We were greeted and seated right away. The hara bhara appetizer was a large portion and came with chana masala. The malai kofta was fresh, tasty, hot, and a good portion for the price. The paneer makhani was also a great dish with a delicious creamy sauce and also hot and fresh. Each came with a bowl of white basmati rice. We asked for spicy and medium spicy but both were fairly UN-spicy. They told me they don't have chicken tikka masala as white meat, which is how it's supposed to be prepared, and it's only available bone-in. All of their chicken dishes are dark meat, which is not the Indian way, but they're likely catering to non-South Asians who prefer thigh or leg. The service was intermittent, and our main server disappeared and never came back after taking our order. They took some time refilling water glasses or even checking in on our needs so some improvement could be had. Restaurant clientele was about 10% South Asian, 90% not. The ambiance was pleasant. Payment system is via Toast. There is patio dining.

TLDR: tired place, tired food, tired service…read more.. Favorite Oldest Grand Daughter (FOGD) was working yesterday so missed family Thanksgiving. I took her out for lunch to help make up for the missed turkey (take that any way you want, sports fans). I gave her a choice of sushi or Indian buffet; she chose Taj Mahal. Taj has been around for many years but somehow I've missed it. I heard it has a nice buffet (a decent value for $19 at lunch). When we arrived there were very few patrons so server said we had our pick of seats. We sat at a booth near the bar, near the buffet. Seats were ratty but in better shape than other booths. We grabbed plates at the bar and went for food - which was really tired and dried out even though it was was well before lunchtime ended. Server said she would bring pans of rice, butter chicken, saag, and naan so we tried what was available. Samosas were cold inside but filling was tasty; chickpeas that came with it were really good but again, cold. Onion pakoras were great, but some chutneys would have been nice. Goat curry was tasty, dry-spiced potatoes were good and had enough heat to make them interesting, but everything else was middle-of-then-road. When the fresh dishes came out we replaced out plates and tried again. Butter chicken and saag were really, really good, rice was really crunchy (undercooked) and quickly dried out under the warming lamps, and naan was good when very fresh but quickly got crunchy. We did not go back for more and skipped the salad/dessert choices. Frederick has a bunch of really good Indian (and Pakistani and Afghani) restaurants (mmmmm, Mint Room, Tulip Grill, and Mayako) so I would not put Taj Mahal anywhere the top of my list of similar places.

There are many vegetarian options that can be made vegan, and our omnivores enjoyed it, too. We ordered appetizers, mains and a dessert, and everything was hot and tasty. We arrived at 11:30am and we were not the first ones so it was the first indicator that this place is good. With guidance, we were explained the menu and ordered at the counter. The menu has clear and accurate descriptions for those not familiar with Afghan cuisine. After finding a seat in their small but mighty dining area, our canned soda and freshly made cardamon lemonade were served (no refills). All our food was brought to the table and on eco friendly plates but plastic utensils. Yogurt, green, and mayo based dip and sauces were explained (note : I love spicy so I would rate the spice level as mild) . Hearty portions so we did our best to eat it all and Billy did offer to pack up our leftovers. We cleaned up our own table and left happy, full, and looking forward to returning again soon. Staff: Billy is such a gracious host. He clearly loves the food and being able to share it with others. Health note: the items ordered were very Crohn's friendly with little to no issues afterwards. One point for improvement: small fruit flies buzzed around us for a brief time but nothing we couldn't handle and did not deter us from enjoying our meal.
