Notably, they made an Indian fusion pizza for the buffet on our request. I was a bit surprised in the sense that the Indian food was higher quality than the pizza was. It was a spicy dal they had, there were a variety of vegetarian dishes and salad, and fresh items came through regularly. I'm not a huge buffet person but they did a good job of it. Just ate here tonight for the first time! SO GOOD. We got two of the 2 item plates, that came with moist saffron rice and not-so-Naan. The Naan is thin and not what I expected but flavorful. We BOTH decided on the Butter Chicken and Curry Potatoes. The Butter Chicken, moist, tender, a decent amount, but listen....I could eat that sauce like a soup it was so delicious! So I was a little hesitant when I walked in because there was absolutely no one sitting down eating. But this place does a lot of pick up orders and deliveries (via apps) and now I know why. Their food is simply amazing. Big portions for a fair price. I am absolutely obsessed with their butter chicken. It's flavorful and saucy and I can't get enough of it. 13 bucks for a huge portion and a couple bucks extra for hot crispy garlic naan, it's mouth watering. I have used carry-out a few times before because their price cannot be beat. Large portions, tasty food. They have a great meal deal, where you can get two entrees, half portion of basmati rice and half portion of naan. The half portions don't feel skimpy either. They made the menu really simple and with really good descriptions. Everyone who works there is friendly, and once I needed something really spicy to help with my sinus infection recovery and the lady working had great suggestions. Stopped in on my lunch break craving Indian food. I've never been here before and decided to get butter chicken extra spicy with rice. The service was so quick I got my food in only 15 minutes and it was probably some of the best butter chicken I've ever had. I might be pretty bias when it comes to Indian food & possible a "hard critic" as iv travel to five cities in India for 3 weeks back in 2016. Also have tried some Indian places in Cali & Virginia and also a friends mothers home cooking as well. I came here looking for a quick fix of missing the food and was recommend here by my ex and his mother. While the colorful plenty of seating,quiet atmosphere was enjoyable, I can't just give the food the same level of high approval. Plus side there is seating to charge your phones or laptops if you want to get some work done. I believe the food was lacking spice/flavor I got the butter chicken masla , rice and palek paneer ( my fave that I feel was lacking here). I had a great first time experience here at Padmini's. I walked in and was served very quickly. The server behind the counter greeted me with a smile and explained the dishes to me. I already had an idea of what I wanted to try (Paneer butter masala and channa masala), he offered half masala rice (a flavorful rice mixture with onions, tomato, cilantro as he explained), and half naan bread. When I asked for the paneer butter masala, he actually had to run to the kitchen because they didn't have any out for service. He came out with a small saute pans worth and through it on the stove for my order - absolutely appreciate that. I didn't grab a drink as I was taking this to go or I would've no doubt ordered their mango lassi to try. My Pick 2 order came out to $8.50. A great deal for the amount of food I was served. There was a TV by the register to keep their customers/diners entertained. There were maybe 4 tables inside and a few bar seats facing out side of the store. It was lunch time when I walked in and they were quite full with diners. There was a lot of bright colors - greens, oranges, and yellow. It gives the feeling of fun and excitement. I took a dive into my meal when I got home and was very impressed with my dishes. The rice was absolutely delicious and I probably would've been okay eating that alone! The channa was great and the chickpeas were seasoned and very tender. This was also my first time having paneer and my first time tasting the iconic butter masala sauce and it was lovely. I spooned some of the gravy over my rice and used my naan bread to dip into it as well. If you've been reluctant to try Indian food, I would definitely say to give this place a shot. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very informative. The food was great. It was full of flavor and I love that they have vegan and vegetarian options also. The restaurant doesn't bode the classic "Indian" look that other places take on but I came for the food so I didn't mind. Food: For Indian food, it was really affordable. I got to pick two entrees with rice and naan for $9. The butter chicken is delicious. The daal was a little salty in my opinion but still tasty. The best thing about this place is its - freshhhh - they ran out of masala rice and made some in front of us instead of getting a container from somewhere in the back. Also, one worker made the naan right in front of us! It was amazing, cooked fresh - buttery, soft, and chewy. Highly recommend. Drinks: I did not get the mango lassi (mango, yogurt drink) but most people who came in after us got one so they must be good! Service: The service is great! Fast and friendly. The staff is extremely friendly. What I assume is the owner explained everything for first timers and offered samples to make sure the customer chose the right amount of heat for their liking. That alone gives this place a five star on customer service. I chose the Pick 2 which comes with a generous portion of two curries and either naan, rice, or both. I chose both and for 7.99, it's one of the best deals I've seen for fast casual in a long time. The food is flavorful and while I'm not a consieuer on Indian food (eat it infrequently), it satisfied these taste buds. I had a chance to briefly chat w/ the owner afterward. I asked him how business is doing and he says it flucuates. He admits some missteps with his staff (which would explain some of the lower star reviews) but he's worked to correct them. He takes pride in his store and how everything is homemade (what I assume is his wife was making a fresh batch of spicy chicken while I was sampling). They even offer vegan options. I'd you're ever in the area, I suggest stopping by to help support his store. This is what a small business should be. It looks like he has a second location over on Buckeystown that's just as highly rated. He's cornered the niche on fast casual Indian for Frederick. Just finished a late lunch on a Saturday. The owner was there as we were ordering, and was very knowledgeable about his menu. He let us have a sample of some of the dishes. The food is delicious. Don't let the term curry keep you away! It's a sweet/savory flavor, not spicy. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy and flavorful. The potatoes were incredible. It's Indian chipotle!!! And it's delicious! I am not really a fan of most of the Indian cuisine I've had in Frederick, but this place served some amazing food that was not just chicken tikka masala :) I really really liked their yellow lentils (dall) and chickpeas (Chana). My boyfriend had their spicy chicken and paneer and both those dishes were amazing as well. The rice is so fluffy and perfectly cooked and the restaurant manager prepared fresh bread for us when we came in. You can get a plate where you choose two items or go a la carte My only complaint is that there was no yogurt or pickle :( raita is a must with any good Indian cuisine!
