I've spent years trying to find a good hair stylist here in Austin. I finally found Teresa through Groupon about a year ago and I've never been happier. After having my hair chemically ruined by a different stylist and working for two years to get it back to health in vain, she was able to revive my hair to its former shiny, bouncy glory in just a couple visits. I had spent so much time and money trying to get my hair healthy again, from going to new stylists to trying expensive repairing treatments and shampoos, nothing worked. My first time in her chair I actually cried from what she was able to do for me. Teressa is honest, straightforward, knowledgeable, patient, personable, and a perfectionist! I went in this week to go from black to purple, and I LOVE it! We initially decided to keep my natural roots so my hair would be more even when it grows out, but I ended up loving the color so much that I went back in the next day to color it all. She mixed a couple colors together to create a gorgeous spectrum of purple. Pros: She takes the time to explain what she's doing, and what to expect. If you go see her (which you should), make sure to cut out enough time; she prefers to take the longer, more thorough road to make sure everything is perfect instead of rushing you out the door. Teresa has been my stylist for over a year now and love how my hair looks each time I see her. I'm really picky and would hop from one stylist to another because I wasn't happy with the results. I told Teresa this upfront when I met with her. She asked me to give her a try & would understand if I didn't come back. 12+ months later I'm still happy. When I first went to Teresa a portion of my hair had been badly burned from a flat iron (I wasn't using the I normally use & within seconds of applying to my hair I saw smoke coming off my hair). We discussed what steps to take to help my hair recover (without chopping off the burnt parts because I would have had no hair left) & still incorporating bayalage highlights in my hair. She even did deep treatments for my hair after highlighting and always gave me deep discounts which I greatly appreciate! I was just texting her this evening and we plan to do an ombre next. For the most part Teresa gets artistic license to do what she thinks would look best for my features and coloring. Teresa takes her time with me to ensure I am happy with her work. I don't mind the extra time she spends with me but keep that in mind if you're in a hurry to get somewhere. I usually block off 3 hours with her...not that she always takes that long. I'm a blonde by choice and needed my dark roots to disappear before a family wedding in D.C. a week away. I called a few salons that my friends recommended and nothing. First off, I've never reviewed anything in my life so the fact that I'm taking the time to write this is your first hint at how awesome Teresa is! I've been going to her for a while now and I've done something different each time, and she's always able to magically bring to life the picture of what I have in my head; even though I'm never good at describing what I want. She's amazing with color, at my last appointment I wanted something super mild that could potentially grow out well and she did an amazing job; it looks so natural! One of my favorite things about Teresa though, is the fact that she makes the whole experience super fun. Well with Teresa it's like I'm just hanging out with one of my girlfriends, she is very personable and is good at putting you at ease. Another reviewer complained that she was running late but that has not been my experience. I have used her several times now and am extremely happy with color and cut results. After my appointment with Theresa I'm am absolutely devastated with the outcome. The results have brought me to tears. Only an inch was suppose to be cut off. She not only cut more than an inch but my hair is noticeably uneven. She denies cutting off more than instructed. It has taken me almost a year to get the length I had and now I'm back to square one, and paying someone else to fix my hair. Unprofessional. One appointment I had was at 5 and she didn't see me till 6:30, she was working on a client before me and didn't think to call and reschedule. I didn't leave that building till 1:00am. All my appointments I had with her were more than 5 hours long. This last appointment I had was to go more lighter bc the color faded within 3 days, took me multiple sessions just to go lighter. I was scheduled at 10 and she never showed up. I called her, txt her and no reply. She didn't call me back till 30 min later, mind you I wait for her for 20 minutes. I regret my time and money I spent with her. All those appointments and I never got my hair the way I wanted it to be. Not a reliable stylist and beyond disappointed. Really confused by these great reviews. I went in and was seen almost a full hour late. My appointment was for 6pm and I left at 10. I had to be escorted to my car because no one was in the building anymore. She didn't have colors stocked and had to run to the store or a neighbor for more. I went in for balayage, root touch up, and cut and left (FOUR hours later) with a root touch up, four minute trim, and an unimpressive hair mask. She's a nice lady and she works hard, I'm just not sure everyone can spare that much time for meh services. read more

Bought a groupon deal for balayage, cut, blow. When I arrived on time, she was still working on a client, said that she would be right with me as she was running a little late. Luckily I wasnt in any hurry that day and didnt mind waiting, plus she seemed really nice off the bat and I couldnt help be understanding. As I waited, the client she was working on was gradually getting more impatient. Apparently she had to go back to work and couldnt be late. Teresa was only able to finish washing her hair and didnt have time to blow it as the client had to leave in a hurry. I waited at least 45 mins till teresa was finally able to see me. Like the other reviewers, I can attest that she is very thorough in the consulting part. We talked a while about what I wanted & what she was planning to do. Before she started, she warned me of the possible negative effects that my hair would have & that if I was not happy that she would like me to "let her fix it, before going to someone new' and that even if I am still unhappy, she would give a refund. She stressed this point alot. It all sounded really nice and very impressive that she was so catering to her clients. However, it did strike me as strange how much she stressed this, i couldnt help but wonder if she was prone to having unhappy customers to elicit this speech. but of course, I was just speculating and kept an open mind. I was say that Teresa is a nice lady, very friendly and personable like everyone says. but personally, she talked way too much for my taste. Nothing wrong with it, but for a more quieter person like me it became exhausting to continue to talk with her the entire time of our apt. someone who has a more outgoing nature like teresa would be more fitted with her. Again, I will stress that she was nice to me and because of this, I could be nothing but nice back. i ended the apt knowing alot more about her then she about me, very personal details about her life, her job, her coworkers, etc. and the apt took a VERY long time. i arrived at 1 & didnt leave until 7 maybe? Teresa had to push the apt after me back, and when that client arrived, she was still working on me. the client after me waited at least 20 min before teresa was finally done. I started to feel impatient but tried to be understanding because I get that color, cut, blow would take some time but it was unbearably long. However, I am not going to put this all on her bcs I did tell her in the beginning that I was not in a hurry... i just didnt realize that saying this warranted her to take half the day. plus she seems to be having one of those days, so i tried to be as understanding as possible. I didn't know how to feel about my hair at first bcs at that point i just wanted to leave after sitting all day in that chair. I gave myself a few days after the apt to see how i felt about it, as she instructed and didnt end up liking it. it wasn't bad but it definitely wasnt at all what we talked about or like the picture. it was mediocre and I expected alot better work considering the time it took and the big game she talked. But her prices are much cheaper then my regular salon which charges about $150 just for balayage, so i guess you just get what you pay for. I asked for a second apt to correct my hair, we booked a time. I was unable to make it bcs I got sick. I only remembered about the apt after getting a vagro text, which lead me to text her an HOUR later apologizing for missing the apt and seeing if we can reschedule or what could be done. she never got back to me. after, i sent about 3-4 texts in the span of 2 weeks to try and reschedule. I finally called, in which she told me she was busy and would call me back, she never did. I figured she was really busy so I finally just went ahead and book online yesterday. within minutes of booking this, I finally got a response - saying she can't do the apt without getting the no show fee. she accused me of not contacting her till 2 days later, untrue as I have a screenshot of the texts to prove otherwise. overall her behavior towards me in the text was completely unprofessional and not at all the nice lady i first met. I respect her no show policy and told her this and did not press on it longer. In fact, I would have gladly paid this fee + tips if she had not ignored me for 2 weeks and communicated. TBH if I really liked the correction, I would of even continued going back to her permanently. My only problem is how she behaved towards me, accusing me of not reaching out despite proof, calling me entitled and a brat. Thats not how you treat a customer who is just looking to get service from you. i felt like she was almost punishing me for "costing her money" for that loss apt. I apologized & take ownership for not notifying her sooner of my absence but I wish she didn't ignore me, accuse me and behaved so rudely. all in all, there is pros in her service but i'd rather pay $150 for a less maniac and more better hairdresser. read more

I've been going to see Teresa for all of my hair needs exclusively since 2012. I'm so excited she has her own salon now! When we first met she took my reddish brown hair to a bright but believable blond, since then we've gone caramel brown and even bright and sultry red. She is the absolute master of the side swept "swoopie" bang, but for the longest time I wouldn't let her touch the length out side of trimming. Unlike most she always respected my length love and would trim only what she absolutely had to in order to keep it healthy. Recently, I told her I was ready to do a major chop, after making sure I wasn't in the midst of a crisis and on the verge of something I'd regret, she sculpted a flirty shoulder bob for me with bangs that matched the celebrity's cut that I wanted but still worked with my actual hair type and face shape.
