Tim Patrick is amazing - professional yet friendly, focused yet patient, listens to you but also guides you to what will actually work the best. I found Tim through another Instagram influencer whom I trust to be quite real and that was my own experience as well. I am very happy with my haircut, which was a bit of an adventure for me to cut off 12 inches, but enjoying it even after subsequent washes. Tim could assess I wanted something low maintenance that looks good naturally with minimal effort. And he certainly delivered on that commitment. Don't get intimated by the pricing on the website because they also have a renowned spot in LA. Austin pricing was fair for a high-quality stylist who has knowledge, skill and experience. And thankfully, focused on charging for the haircut and not this new ridiculous model of charging-for-time and each add-on. She has five years of experience under her belt and this is one of the best hair color services I've received since living in Austin. She 100% nailed my "inspo pic", was easy to make small talk with, and genuinely seemed to love her work. Will be coming back again for sure! Gavin is the absolute best colorist there is! I first had him color and cut my hair last year and was blown away by how seamlessly he blended the pieces. Since then, he has moved to Spoke and Weal. While he no longer cuts hair, his teammate Tim takes over that part and is equally amazing, being meticulous with his cuts to ensure your satisfaction throughout the process. Gavin is excellent at informing you throughout the process and making recommendations. I was initially confused about what I wanted, torn between an ashy and a warm tone, which are complete opposites. Gavin thoroughly talked through the differences with me based on my inspiration photos to get a better idea of what I was looking for. Deeann saved my hair! It had been almost a year since I'd had a trim because I hadn't really liked any of the stylists that I tried in Austin since I moved here in 2020. I had let my hair run wild all summer. Lots of sun, sweat, chlorine, and lake water and very little conditioning or care. The result was a long tangled mess with horrible dead ends. Deeann did a thorough consultation with me to figure out what I wanted before shampooing, conditioning, and blow drying my hair. She did a dry cut which I've always preferred over wet cuts because it's more precise. She was able to chop all of the damaged ends off while still saving a lot of length. She expertly cut long layers to give my stick-straight hair some movement and texture. She also blended in the curtain bangs that I had cut myself with my kitchen scissors while bored one day. She styled and curled my hair in perfect loose waves afterwards (I asked for early 2000s Victoria's Secret model hair). I'm absolutely in love with the result and my hair is so much softer, shinier, and healthier looking! I can't stop touching it now and the maintenance is much easier. Deeann is a new stylist to the Austin area (and to Spoke and Weal) but she has many years of experience cutting hair! She's a true hair professional who is also so sweet, personable, and easy to talk to. I felt very comfortable and confident sitting in her chair. While I was there Tim was also chatting with Deeann about the techniques they use at Spoke and Weal and it's clearly evident that he's an expert in his field. It was fascinating to listen to him explain how they do things the Spoke and Weal way and how detail oriented they are. For example, since I have dark hair they put me in a white cape instead of a black one so there was higher contrast and they could see what they were cutting more clearly. I recommended Deeann and Spoke and Weal to all of my friends! I'm so happy I found the studio. It's my new go-to salon in Austin after years of feeling like I hadn't clicked with any stylists. Tim Patrick is magic. First of all, he really cares about his craft and it shows in his attention to detail and consultation process. During the consultation, he took the time to understand what I wanted and then explained how he would offer me that based on my specific hair type and the season we are in. I love how Tim made me feel cared for through the whole process- because it's not easy to just trust someone with your hair. He then washed and blow dried my hair to cut it dry, which I like so much better. You actually get to see what your hair will look like as you go- no shocking short length once it's dried and styled. Also, I have never had anyone ask me to stand while cutting my hair! As he was taking the length off, he had me stand while in front of him. Once he explained why, because we're not always sitting when people see our hair, it made sense and I was like, "why doesn't everyone do this"? Overall- he's talented and has a knack for being able to translate what you want into your hair cut. He delivered my hair style I wanted without compromising his integrity. I loved every moment of it. Finding a good hair stylist is like finding the perfect pair of jeans- you never want to let go of them! Glad I found Tim!
