I used to love going to Wet Salon. I was a customer for over 10 years across multiple locations. It's sad to have to leave a bad review because the people are always so nice and are great to chat with while getting a haircut. However, this last time they messed up on my hair. For the first day my girlfriend couldn't stop laughing lol. As you can see in the photo, it is very uneven in the back. I tried calling to see if I could come back in the week to get it fixed. Their number seems to always go to voicemail and their VM says for a quicker response to send a text message. I did just that. Explaining what happened, showing a picture and asking if I could come back. 0 response and it's been 2 weeks since then. read more

I tried this salon just because I liked the vibe. And I'm very happy I did! I needed a haircut. Sara was my stylist. I showed her some photos of the cut I wanted. She asked excellent clarifying questions. She worked slowly and carefully. She paid attention to individual locks, getting them to fall just the right way. I had made one mistake -- I hadn't asked what the haircut was going to cost. I'm used to a haircut (including the post-cut styling) taking 30 minutes. As Sara went past the 30-minute mark and then past the 60-minute mark, I started to wonder: What is this going to cost me? $200? $300? More? After 90 minutes, she was finally done. The result was fantastic! Exactly like the photos I had shown her, and very, very flattering. I asked how much I owed her, and she said just $60! I even asked, "Are you sure?," but I certainly wasn't going to argue with her. I made sure to make another appointment with her before I left. I'm a little reluctant to tell the world what a great experience I had, because I'm afraid Sara will get all booked up and/or raise her prices! But fair is fair, she did a terrific job and I recommend her highly. read more

I've used Wet Salon for a number of years and have always been pleased with my stylist and haircut. They have recently moved from the cute little house and my stylist is gone. Disappointment doesn't begin to describe my appointment at the new, very small, cramped work space. The stylist did not listen to what I wanted and I ended up with a haircut that made me cry. Jimmy at reception was so helpful to fit me on schedule with short notice. After moving to a new city, the most daunting task is not just to find accommodations and friends, but rather to find a new stylist (and dentist). Thankfully, I'm half-way there. Now, to throw in a challenge, I decided to donate 12 inches of my hair and go from waist-length hair to a long bob. Great experience and everyone was great. Leslee, one of the owners took her time and worked magic on my hair. The front of house were professional and offering me a drink was very professional. I see that one person left one star and some bad comments so I went and looked at the other ratings and comments that he left for other businesses and thought, Preston, maybe you're the problem and not the businesses you frequent. Was visiting from out of town and needed hair help for a two-day wedding. James was wonderful and did a great job at my cut and blow-out on Friday, and on Saturday morning Anastasia gave me the most mind-blowing up-do I could have ever dreamed of. I put together a pinterest board of some pretty fancy braided-updos and she took those as inspiration to create her unique masterpiece. I kept the updo for three days, and took it out on the fourth day. This was possible because of all the solid braiding she did (french braids and fishtail braids). The last time I wrote a review about a hairstylist....it was for Method salon. And then....she blew up and I no longer was able to get an appointment easily with her. I mean...I'm happy for her and all...but DAMN. A sister needs her hair did when she NEEDS HER HAIR DID. *sigh* So....I went in search of another hair stylist. Now....I don't feel bad about writing about this hairstylist, because he'll be leaving in about 5 months....and he's already told me who my next go-to hairstylist should be in his absence. SO. John Hunt. This song is for you. I have lots of hair. Lots of curly hair. Lots of curly hair with unruly cowlicks in random as places. For a stylist to do my hair well---is an act of God. Their scissors have to be blessed and sanctified by the hair gods in order to churn out a good haircut for me. I've been getting my hair professionally cut now, for 12 years. Do you know how many hairstylists have actually lived up to my rigorous, anal retentive standards?? 3. That's it. Just 3. Most of them have met the vengeful end of a pin in the form of the dolls I made of them to punish them for their inadequate cutting skills. And then....there was John. I met him at Orange Salon on South Congress. And when I heard he'd left---I threatened to burn down the salon f they didn't tell me where I could find him. Just kidding---he got in touch with me and told me where I could find him. But the latter would have happened had he not ... so.... I'll say this much, John seemed SO much happier at Wet Salon. The atmosphere there is so much lighter, the camaraderie between the other artists is jovial, sarcastic and genuine. And John...is trained in the art of cutting curly hair using the Diva Method. Look it up. If you have curly hair and aren't getting it cut by a Diva certified stylist...then FIND ONE STAT. When I first sat in John's chair, I told him----I want to grow my hair out and the only thing that I can guarantee you, is that in 3 months, I will come in here telling you that I want to cut it all off. Your job...is to NOT LET ME DO THAT. At all costs...force me to grow this mop out. And he has. Each time I sit in his chair, I walk out happy that I didn't shave it all off. Don't laugh----I've shaved my head 4 times due to frustration from bad hair cuts. :) So, when my friend was getting married and somehow decided it was a good idea to make me a bridesmaid---I did good, ,I promise----she said her gift to us was that she'd pay for us to get our hair done. At first...I was like, "nah...it's all good. I don't trust folks with my hair." And then she said that the salon we would be getting our hair done at was Wet. Well by golly...I sure did jump on that bandwagon fast. EVERY SINGLE BRIDESMAIDS hair came out PERFECTLY. Perfectly I tell you. We looked flawless. Well, at the very least, our hair did. And then....came the day where another one of my friends was getting married on New Years eve and made it a costume wedding.. I needed a bang trim, and my partner needed someone to do costume hair for him---because he chose to go as Ziggy Stardust. So, he needed someone to cut his self-chosen mullet into something stylish and then spray paint it bright red. TAWNY to the rescue. She was so warm and kind and fun! She laughed her ass off at his concept, and then built on it when she suddenly got giddy with the idea to add in gold glitter spray to his hair. She was PERFECT. And she's a makeup artist too! All in all...Wet is the place to get your hair done if you like cool, laid back, ,creative as hell and talented artists working on your tresses. read more

Anastasia is a dream come true. I only write yelp reviews when I can give 5 stars. She is beyond five stars. The whole experience at Wet is lovely, with a personable and attentive staff team -- no pretentiousness, just artistry and service. So it's no wonder they have someone like Anastasia. But let's talk about her skill. I have very thick, wavy to slightly curly hair. My whole life i have lived through the phases of nice to poofy to frizzy. I had no idea I it was the cut and the whole hair care process, and not my hair. Anastasia is masterful with the curly hair cut, which is totally different and WAY more effective for my hair type. Throughout the cut, wash, condition, dry and second curl-by-curl cut, she trains me on how to handle my hair. I wish I could upload a photo and show you the result. Actually, now that I think about it, I will change my profile just so you can see. And her love of people and the craft is just inspiring. Anastasia loves people and she wants them to feel beautiful in their own hair. And she is clearly passionate about hair -- kind of like a artist/scientist would be. Maybe a hair engineer. So I hate finding a new hairstylist. Hate it. I was hoping that Wet Salon would soften the blow. I made an appointment and asked for someone that was good with short hair. I could tell the stylist they hooked me up with tended towards the more crazy/ edgy cuts from what she suggested we do, but as long as I came out looking good I didn't care. She was totally awesome to talk to while I got my hair cut. When she finished I really couldn't tell what it looked like from all the product and crazy styling. Getting the bill was a bit sickening ($70, it's short and I cut my hair every six weeks). After going home and washing my hair I was really upset. It's defiantly not the worst haircut I've had, but I shouldn't have to go home and touch up my $70 hair cut. One good thing - they give free walk in touch ups when you're between cuts. read more

I've been going to Eric for over 15 years...so that means I followed him from his previous salon. I can't even imagine letting anyone else cut my hair. I like it long...he is the only stylist to not do their own thing with my hair. If I say "baby trim", he doesn't cut off 2" like others have. I recently grew my hair past my butt so I could donate to Pantene's (love their philosophy making wigs for WOMEN with hair loss issues) Beautiful Lengths and Eric is the only one I would trust to cut off my footlong ponytail. Do not recommend Michelle. Called same day and was able to get an appointment to add more blonde to my already blonde streak on one side. I was very excited to be able to get in however once there Michelle and I went over my goals to keep my hair healthy but as light as possible I let her know I understand going from dark brown to blonde is a process and I am okay with that. I emphasized trying to keep my hair in the best condition possible and she lead me to believe I could trust her. So I did. She puts all the foils in my hair and let me know she will be leaving out the roots and go back in after to make sure things are even. She checks on me every 20 mins and at the 60 MINUTE MARK. She pulls a strand out and I can see it is break off I have hair falling on the chair I said something and she immediately removed all of the foils and RUSHES me to the bowl she doesn't even allow me to sit tell me to stand there and bend my head over the bowl so she can wash out all while looking panicked which is scaring me since I can tell my hair is beyond breaking at this point. I'm almost in tears. While she is washing it out she I'm getting water all in my face (she didn't care) and then we went back to the chair and roughly brushes out my wet hair and says see no breakage your hair is not falling out but then doesn't even show me the brush. I asked her to be more gentle and she now has an extremely pissed off face. She tells me she has to just tone my hair and that's it. I asked why we couldn't do the roots( my roots were and still are visible darker than the rest of my hair) she just says no and continues to talk to me about toning I expressed my concerns about my hair and she did not care to talk to me anymore. She tones my hair blow drys it very roughly again. Doesn't part it down the middle which this is a split hair dye look so blonde pieces on the dark brown are ver obvious. And WALKS AWAY. Doesn't tell me I'm done or how much I owe her and when I asked if I should use a toning shampoo she responded with "ya I would recommend it" so I asked do u have anything you would recommend and she reply's "a blue" and that is the last I see of her. I was visibly upset in the chair she didn't care nor did others in the salon. I ask to speak to a manager there is none so I leave a note with the receptionist and begin to tell her a little of my experience she as well did not care and when I told her how I was treated she said "do not get abrasive with me I can't help you with this and I don't want to be in the middle" the manager did not call me today. My hair is uneven and fried to bits after paying $165 to be treated this way and not even a call from the manager is beyond disappointing. I have - or rather, had - been going to Wet Salon since 2008. I stayed with them even after my both stylists there moved eleswhere because I always liked and respected the business as a whole, and it's staff. Eric is very talented, as is his wife Leslee. In January 2019, I forgot my appointment! This was the first time in 11 years, and I remembered about 15 minutes into the time-frame. I called to apologize as I realize this is lost income, and I conveyed sincere remorse. The receptionist Alex was so rude, I was taken aback. Alex is always curt, but this time he was downright insolent. There are, or were at the time, 2 guys answering the phones - one is fine and Alex is totally an uppity snob but goodness knows why. Wet used to have the most accommodating support staff, but Alex acted as if he was personally deeply insulted by my mistake. But instead of terminating the call, I instead bit my lip and rescheduled because it isn't the stylist's fault their receptionist is so unpleasant. So then a few months later, my daughter had an appointment. Unfortunately she had to have an emergency surgery, so I called in advance to tell them she would not make the next day's appointment. Alex answered and my heart sunk even further than it already was - I knew he would be discourteous. When I told him she couldn't make it, he literally hung up on me before I could explain why! I was already stressed about the next day's surgery and then I had to deal with this utter b.s. No doubt he recognized my last name but certainly Alex was far ruder than I expected - and believe me, I was prepared for a lot. I don't need to face a receptionist's hostility every time I attempt to contact my salon. There are some great stylists at Wet but as there is no getting past the uncivil gatekeeper and the "face" of the salon - and my understanding is Alex is still there - our family took our business down the street to Path, where the service is about the same but people are friendly, welcoming, and never cop a 'tude. This review is specifically about Mickey Kibbe, who is the best colorist EVER, like in the whole world. Mickey is a "master colorist" and takes her art very seriously. She combines her love of science and color with a genuine caring attitude and attacks the most serious color problem with the mind of a genius. She will mix her secret potions and develop a strategy to do exactly what is needed for your particular head of hair. Prices are reasonable. Salon has very good parking in back. Front desk staff are sweet. Today was my first time having my hair done at Wet. I was super frustrated with how "blah" my hair has been looking lately and decided I needed a change, like, immediately. Does anyone else get in those kinds of hair moods? Luckily they were able to get me in same day so I didn't end up cutting my own hair and experiencing immediate regret. I met Jorea and told her I wanted bangs that looked like they make sense with my super long hair and I needed something to make my hair less stuck down to my head looking. She was able to take my weird description and create a beautiful haircut! I appreciate how she went slowly with the bang cutting to make sure I was comfortable with how much hair she was taking off. She did a great blowout too. My hair feels soft and looks voluminous and flippy rather than stuck to my head! I think I've found my new regular salon and stylist. Hands down my favorite Salon ever! From the moment you walk in, (usually when I go) you are greeted warmly by Alex who has such a bright personality even if the weather sucks out. You quickly notice that each stylist that may have a client in their chair, either quickly build rapport with the cl or already have a great connection. I have had the pleasure of getting my hair pampered and colored by two different stylists there and let me tell ya, they kick major a$$ when you're playing around with color. My hair is naturally dark brown, curly and depending on what day, unruly. I had made a mess of it before Anastasiia and Jessica got their hands on my hot mess and worked miracles. They are truly gifted and I highly recommend you see them to either correct a mistake or enhance your hair game! Instead of going straight to cutting, she wanted to know what I was WANTiNG for it to look like while still adhering to the general devacut process of dry cutting, washing, diffusing then cutting any stray pieces. I have had a number of curly hair cuts and hers by far has been the best with it still acting right when I walked out and the city be under a storm warning. But the website is completely outdated and the people shown on the website do not even work there anymore. As well as that the website looks like it was done just like the logo around 1998. Shunned after almost 15 years for asking to go blonde. Appointment was made. Owner and stylist knew in advance what I was coming in for. I brought gifts and was so excited. Let's be clear here... Because I know exactly what the response will be! I knew before I made the appointment that going blonde from color was a multiple visit process. I had spoken many many times to my stylist about it. So I knew going in that day that I would not walk out instantly platinum blonde! When he said "this is a process" I responded "okay then! Let's get started!" Both owner and stylist stood there and laughed at a photo I showed them, that I now know is Ombré. I was just using it as an example for the fade look. It was humiliating to be laughed at. It took everything in me to hold my tears until I was almost out the door. My long time stylist simply refused to do anything at all. And they also both blamed me for not telling the receptionist "how many levels of color I wanted lifted." Like I'm supposed to know that info?! I told the receptionist who I was and that I was going from colored brown to blonde. AND made sure both the owner and my stylist knew via their private phone numbers. So this was no surprise. I left crying. No one chased me out the door. No one called me. All communication I had after was initiated by me. The stylist was never held accountable in any way. Wet salon has gotten into such a clic with employees, don't ever think you are valued in any way unless you work there. Employees come before clients. Period. This was so shocking for me. I cried over the loss for months. And they seriously didn't care at all. It took a lot for me to go ahead and write this up, because I felt so much like this place was family. And I went out of my way making calls. Basically begging for something to be done that could justify me returning as I missed them so much! Even owning my own part in allowing my stylist to tell me no to half of the things I asked him to do for a decade. But after the heartbreak I've suffered. I think it's just the right thing to do. I got my hair cut here over a month ago and I have been sitting on this review, because everyday I go back and forth on whether or not I love my hair cut or hate it. I went in just wanting some bangs cut and the rest of my hair cleaned up. I also wanted to try a new hairstylist, hoping for a cool new look instead of my usual style. He did cut my bangs like I asked. But then he kind of went nuts on the rest of my hair and chopped more off than I am comfortable with. He asked me how short he could go, and I told him I still wanted my length (past the shoulders), but if he wanted to take a couple inches and add some layers, that would be fine. I also told him I trusted his opinion, so do what he thought would look good. Maybe that's where I made a mistake. I thought maybe he would only take 2-3 inches, and he cut more like 5! And the layers on top are pretty short. When I style my hair it looks pretty good, so I give him credit for that, but I really just want my long hair and regular stylist back. If anyone has any tips on how to expedite the growth of my hair, please let me know! read more

I wrote a post on Wet Salon's Facebook page which received no response so i was encouraged by friends to post on Yelp as well. I came in twice to Wet Salon to see Holli over the past two weeks. The first time i went in looking for more blonde to my already ombre'd hair- more of a summery look. What i left the salon with was a line in my hair that was my natural color at the top and blonde at the bottom. It looked like i had grown out bad highlights. I promptly called the salon to reschedule another appointment to have my hair fixed. When i went in Holli blamed the bad color on me saying that i didn't know what bayalage was and that is what it is. As you can see in the photos i've attached that i took when i got home from the salon both times, that is most absolutely not what bayalage is supposed to look like. I then left the salon for the second time with another line in my hair but higher. My hair was not blended, it was not ombred, it is a disaster. I had to go elsewhere to recieved a full color correction due to this mess. Both times i showed photos to Holli and reviewed exactly what i wanted and didn't like. I do not feel like i could have made it more clear. I am extremely disappointed with my hair and do not feel this is a $200+ color, i don't feel like this is a $20 color. I feel like this is something you would recieve from someone in their first year of cosmetology school, not an experienced stylist. read more

I wanted to write specifically about my stylist, Ruby. She has given me two great, major haircuts. The first time I was donating my hair to locks of love, so it was a pretty serious cut. She did a great job in giving me the haircut I wanted even with 11 inches off. She asked if I had considered coloring my hair and offered suggestions if I wanted to. However, there wasn't any pressure, and it was nice to hear what would work well with my hair from a professional. The second time I saw Ruby was when I received a bad cut from another salon. I was nervous to get it cut again, but Ruby understood my reservations. She evened out the layers and made my short hair stylish again. Between both of these haircuts, I have waited months before getting it cut and it still looked good. I definitely recommend Ruby! read more

I have really nice hair. I promise I'm not being vain. What I was not blessed with in terms of height or metabolism speed, I received in the form of a nice head of hair. So after growing out my hair so I could wear it up when I got married last year, I had the idea to let it get even longer so I could make a hair donation to a charity that makes wigs for cancer patients. Some people should not be allowed to wield a straightening iron. Big bucks does not always equal great haircut. I've had good experiences with Bird's, the price is right, so why change? Well, this haircut made me nervous. After making sure I had enough hair for the donation I knew my post-haircut hair was going to be REALLY short. Like, shorter than it had ever been before. So I turned to yelp to find a good salon that was also close to home. After perusing many reviews, I decided on Wet Salon. I was a nervous wreck in the hours leading up to the hair appointment. What if the hairdresser thought I was a freak for wanting to take my hair home with me? What if she refused my request to immediately chop off my ponytail? (I have encountered hairdressers who refuse to even look at you until your hair is washed, but the ponytail needed to be dry for donation purposes.) What if I ended up looking like a boy?? Yes, this is all a bit paranoid, but that's how I roll. All of these fears were completely unfounded. Rachel did an amazing job with my hair. She had the brilliant idea of separating my hair into two ponytails so I could have equal length on both sides. She also convinced me to go for a more "dramatic" cut than what I originally wanted, explaining to me why it would work better for my hair type. I have gotten more compliments on my hair in the past few weeks than after any other haircut in recent memory. The shorter 'do feels SO good in the summer heat and it's a breeze to style. Plus, I was able to help out a great cause. The bottom line is Rachel is fabulous! The salon is also very laid-back, definitely not snooty. I went back to WET recently for a hair cut. I used to see Eric, one of the owners years ago. He is still there and still a sweetheart. This time I decided to try Will, the hot guy with the dreads I always stared at while sitting in Eric's chair..wondering what it would like to be in his chair. Yes I was cheating in my mind :) So, years later I go back to Wet and make my appt with Will. Will has recently cut off all his dreads and is slowly growing them back. He gave me a decent hair cut and he was nice enough. He did show me a cool trick with the flat iron. The big drawback? I waited over 30 minutes past my appointment time before he brought me to his chair. And this was as a new client. Suddenly, I remembered exactly why I stopped going to Wet in the first place. WOW. Mark went above and beyond on Friday by staying 2 hours past when he's normally scheduled to work at the salon. When I showed up at my appointment time (6 PM), we discovered that the person who set my appointment hadn't written in that I needed a cut AND color, so they scheduled me at his last possible slot for the day. Mark said, "It's OK, let me just call my friend and have him let my dogs out." I was stunned. I was totally prepared to just come in another day, but Mark insisted that I stay. Stylists usually have a bad reputation for being tardy, irresponsible, and flaky, but not Mark. He's a definite keeper, not to mention that this may be his best work yet. In short - a great cut at a fair price. Ask for Mickey. After moving to Texas, my hair had taken a beating from the humid weather and I was determind to get it cut in hopes that it would shape up instead of weighing me down. I had been recommended to Wet Salon from a friend who had an amazing cut from her stylist, Mickey. So I scheduled an appointment with her myself and crossed my fingers as I showed up for the big day, hoping my experience would be just as good as my friend's. As soon as I met Mickey I knew I was in good hands. She was friendly, talented and had a real conversation with me about awesome places to check out in Austin. Not only did she give me a beautiful new cut - she explained how I could wear it different ways and how to simply take care of it to get the most out of the style. I followed what she said - and yep, she was right. I am lucky to have found "my" salon on the first try - I have no doubt that I'll be back in six weeks or so for another trim.
