I've never been to Tomball, TX before today and honestly, it was searching for "beer" on Yelp that found me here. Tomball is pretty small (downtown anyway) but Fire Ant Brewing comes through big. They boast a menu of about 20 beers and I didnt have a single bogey. I opted for a flight just to sample matters and my favorite of the bunch had to be the Dunkel. Tasty, malty, smooth; good stuff. I also splurged for the Fire Ant Nachos with pulled pork and, good lord, this isn't meant for one person. I put on my brave face and powered back as many little mountains of fresh chips, nacho cheese l, pickled onions, tangy sauce and smoked pork as I could. I failed to finish but the victory is really the in the journey, isn't it? Friendly service, ample seating and a relatively quaint setting. When in Tomball, go to Fire Ant.

I like these small town places where they serve good beer and food. They have a couple German food options. Place is clean and has a nice patio. Apparently this is the place to be during the German festival. There is antique shopping next door. I would definitely come back.

During a resent visit to Houston, we came across this cute little area that offer unique items and this brewery. We stopped in for a snack and some local beers. The beers are more on the lighter side, they did offer a brow ale but no stouts or porters. I got a flight of 4 to try and I really enjoyed their wheat. The two ipas tasted very similar but they weren't too bad. They have a decent bar menu. We ordered the big pretzel and Mac n cheese. The server was helpful. They have a decent happy hour.

Yummy!! And so filling! I had the crispy Schnitzel with a pretzel bun. Yes, I think my stomach expanded on this dinner. The slaw was tasty but the schnitzel was soooo comforting! This is also a fun place as it is a brewery!

First review of 2024. A group of eight of us went here to sample the beer and to have dinner. It was already dark when we arrived so we decided to eat inside. I ordered the pimento cheeseburger with potato salad. It was very tasty. My beer was excellent. I know it was a lager or a Pilsner or both. We all sat at a high table on stools. Nobody fell off! Everybody had a great experience and the waitress was really helpful and efficient and got all our orders right. Parking shouldn't be a problem with a parking lot and street parking. A great place to go for a meal and a beer.

At first we walked in and it was fairly empty but a Sunday afternoon. Stood at the entrance for a good 5 minutes with no greeting and no employees in sight. We walked out and went Nextdoor which was closed and the only reason we came back to try it. Fortunately we got seated! Great selection of their own beers and even some guest taps. Pretzel was large and super soft inside. Macaroni with pulled pork was also delicious. The only thing keeping me from saying 5 stars was the initial wait. Would definitely come back.

I went here with a group of friends during a very busy time. The service was outstanding. Even though there was barely standing room on the patio, our server was on it and didn't miss refills either. I got the lemonade as I wasn't in a drinking mode and it was GOOD! It's more on the tart side and definitely made in-house. I would recommend. The brussel sprouts here are so amazingly good. They were swimming in liquid and I was anxious to try them but I'm so glad I did! I found myself dipping them in more sauce every chance I got. I plan on coming back again when they aren't so busy. I'll try some of the beers and some more food for sure!

Really have been wanting to try this place for ages and stopped in with my daughter and sister for lunch. Sat immediately in a nice booth and greeted by an amazing waitress who definitely made our experience at Fire Ant a great one. Gave us great advice and answered questions about all the beers available. We grilled our waitress about menu items too and she was the best at that as well. We ended up with a flight which we all taste tested and all were pretty good. My sister tried the blood orange blonde and was impressed. They do have Coca~cola products and Ice Tea for alternative drinks. Food was awesome! The appetizer we chose was the Queso Fundido and if you get this get this when you order your drinks because it does take a little bit for the kitchen to get it ready. We ordered from their lunch menu two Sweet Tea Fried Chicken Sandwiches and a Schnitzel Sandwich all very good choices as well as yummy . Sides were fries that were hand cut and still had the skins on "so good" and my daughter ordered the Deviled Egg Potato Salad. The potato salad was a little chunky for her but I thought it was delicious. Definitely want to come back with my husband and son for their take on what I think they would like to eat.

I finally got to try out Fire Ant last night after years of wanting to go. I used to live in downtown Tomball and watched this place get built, but moved before it was finished. We brought one of our dogs and sat on the patio. We started with a beer for my husband and a wine for me. I absolutely had to have a giant pretzel to start with as those are my favorite. The pretzel did not disappoint and could probably feed 3 people. My pup was happy she got to share it with us. Both the cheese dipping sauce and mustard were awesome. I could have probably just eaten that and been happy, but I wanted to try an entree as well. I got a cheeseburger and my husband got the chicken sandwich. Both were great, but I think the chicken was better. We had an awesome time and can't wait to come back.

If you are looking for a cute place to enjoy a meal and an amazing selection of in house brewed beer, stop here. Best nachos we've had in a long time. We also tried the schnitzel sandwich which was huge, crispy, and covered with a delicious sauce. We couldn't decide on what beer to try, so they beer flight was a must. Fantastic spot with friendly servers!!

I cannot comment on the service because I did not need any. I also cannot comment on the food; it was provided by the party. What I can comment on is the parking - it was absolutely horrible! And that is being kind. They had a few spaces available in a field but to get to those spaces you had to drive through a 5 foot hole that was at least 4 feet deep! Thanks but no thanks I don't do off roading! At 2pm this place was packed! There was a DJ, people everywhere, small children everywhere and quite a few dogs. All in all, I am giving the stars for private room because that is what my experience consisted of.

The semi-off-roading experience driving up the long driveway did not reassure me that I had found the spot either. Limited parking spaces were even more limited due to giant potholes filled with water. I had to move my car because once I parked I couldn't get out without getting my shoes soaked. Venue itself is a huge warehouse space. Large shaded deck spans the building. Tables are picnic tables. Great airflow inside with large fans. There is a separate room attached to the large main hall with some high tops and foosball table. Live music this evening with local youth bands from School of Rock. Other touches around the room reinforced their community support (local art on the walls, silent auction for a charity). Great beer selection- B52 beers ranging from IPAs, Pils, Ale, coffee porter. I tried the Bishop Crackberry Cider- just enough sweetness and perfect for the summer night. Service was nice. Food is served outback from a food truck: They give you a buzzer so you don't have to wait around outside waiting for them to call your name. I shared a Chicken Vindaloo pizza with one other person. Portion size was perfect for 2 adults. Although it promised "tongue searing curry" it totally lacked spice. The Indian flavors were there though. Just don't promise me tongue searing- and it's ketchup level spicy. Thin crust was topped with chicken, Black Truffle Ricotta, Mozzerella, Basil- it was an unexpected exotic flavor to find at a traditional brewery.

It's built inside a historic garage, and you can still see the brewing equipment from the taproom, which gives the place a cool industrial feel. Plenty of indoor seating, a nice patio, and it just feels like somewhere you could hang out for a few hours. I ordered the SMASH Burger and made it a double. That was my mistake. The burger itself was excellent, hot, fresh, juicy, and cooked just right, but my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach. The single would have been the perfect size for me. No complaints about the food at all. The beer was delicious too. They had a wide variety of lagers, IPAs, sours, and even a barrel-aged stout, so there was something for just about everyone. I appreciate breweries that don't make everything an IPA. Overall, I was really impressed. What started as an unplanned stop because of a billboard turned into one of the highlights of the drive. If you're passing through Columbus, Hound Song is absolutely worth pulling off the highway for.

We came about 2hrs before closing so they only had 2 pizzas left and they allowed us to split the pizza in half so that I could try 4 different flavors. For appetizers, we got the Hummus Duo to include a side of their ranch dipping sauce. Every pizza was delicious and flavorful. The Motown Medusa was very different and strangely delicious. Even a plain pizza like the pepperoni was different and flavorful. Each pizza had great texture and generously packed with toppings. The pizzas are a bit pricier for the size that you get, but it's definitely better than a cheap Pizza Hit or Dominoes pizza. The service was fantastic and it's a fairly big place that is probably packed on the weekend. It's family friendly, too, with a playground right next to their outdoor patio.

**Tip-Shaming Warning**…read more I really want to love this place. The atmosphere is great; I hear they are community minded; and everyone here has always been nice. But this joint can't decide whether it is a bar or a restaurant. I have previously talked about how spectacular the fish & chips are -- then they removed them from the menu. This weekend, I took my father to this place only to find out that the lunch menu selection wouldn't fill a napkin. Not to mention, they were out of mustard. What respectable joint in Texas runs out of mustard when hamburgers are on the menu? About the burger... The cheeseburger and fries are quite a bit more expensive here than legit burger joints in our area such as Stomp's or Tookies. Further, I've had better burgers in a commissary and at amusement parks. There is nothing fresh about the meat. And then there's the mustard. When I order a burger with mustard (and you don't have mustard), why bring it to me dry? A decent server would come to the table and say "Sir, I know you wanted mustard, but we don't have any." Additionally, I asked for a side of pickles with my burger, which didn't come. So I asked the server, in the presence of the food runner, "Can you bring me the side of pickles?" The food runner chimed in "They're on the burger." -- I wanted to jump down his throat, but I instead ignored him and redirected my comment to the server (whom I requested the side of pickles when I placed my order.) In addition to the marginal food, the customer service here is quite lacking. Though our server was a nice guy, he seemed to half-ass everything. And then he brought the iPad and stood over us while we paid the bill ... which included pre-set tip amounts. I've worked in food service, as has pretty much everyone in my family. When you stand over me while I'm calculating your gratuity, you are likely to get squat. -- Even the Wall Street Journal has written about the gauche nature of this "tip shaming" practice. And so, our server got what he deserved ... very little. (If he'd left me with the iPad and moved on, I likely would've felt more charitable. His mistake.) This place could and should do better. But it needs to decide whether it wants to be a restaurant or a bar. It could do both, but not for long in the way they are currently operating.
