    Buffalo wings

Enjoyed the time we spent here yesterday. All around good vibes. From the beer to the food to the atmosphere. There is about 14 beers on tap, they also have food. The beers were great. We tried several different ones. My favorite one was the Smash'D IPA. The wings were so good. They also have pizza but we went for the wings bc we had dinner plans and wanted something small. I enjoyed the Buffalo sauce. They also have 2 other wing flavors. Can't remember off the top of my head. There is plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. I can't wait for patio weather to enjoy the outdoor seating. There is also trivia on Wednesdays and Bingo on Sundays. Looking forward to coming back!

After work, I stopped by Fortress Beer Works for happy hour and was delighted with my experience. The menu was easy to navigate, and I opted to try their cider, which had an excellent taste. The atmosphere of the place was enjoyable, and there were ample seating options, both covered and outdoor. However, the drive into the place was a bit challenging as the road was uneven and bumpy. Parking is a problem especially if it is crowded - you may need to park on the grass, but some areas of the grass were sunken, so drivers of lower cars should be cautious.

Wow, I never knew this local microbrewery was here. I used to live in this area around the time they opened in 2019. Fortress Beerworks bought out B52 last year and finally took over in October 2022. I learned that both entities will run their unique ways. I remember B52 having CBD options and was a family and dog friendly place. Fortress Beerworks was family friendly. I didn't see anyone with their dogs, but maybe! One of my childhood friends threw her birthday get together here to chill and mingle. You can reserve their indoor picnic tables. Balloons and cake are welcome! It's off Spring Cypress, but you can easily pass it up if you're not looking at the sign near the Park & Sell. Follow the rocky dirt path down to the end and to the left. Just be careful cause it barely fits two vehicles for one way in and out. Parking on the rocky lot is open, but people seemed respectful of space and how to park. It was empty, but a few people came and went. There was a small party bus that came with guys in track suits. Turns out, it was my friend's pediatrician for her boys, and they were also celebrating a birthday with a few people from New Zealand. Anyway, they've got TVs to catch sports games, live music, and cornhole tournaments. I was bummed the food menu online didn't match what they actually offered. They didn't have appetizers or burgers. The wood fired pizza from Fiamma was the bomb though! It's a food truck. You order food at the bar. Can't go wrong with pizza and beer. I had the white pizza with black truffle ricotta and roasted garlic. The garlic was sweet, and the truffle was just enough. I added pepperoni and mushrooms. Extra toppings are free!! The 12" pizza was served in a pizza box and was ready in 10 mins or less. You get a text notification to pick up at the food truck. One of my fellow Yelp elites would say the pizza didn't have a good undercarriage cause you pick it up, and it flops. You kind of have to fold it. It still tasted really good. I read the wood fired pizza and bbq will be a staple. Curious to see what bbq. I wish it was Corkscrew nearby!! I had the rotating sour beer cause I'm into sours. I had the passion fruit sour. I didn't taste much of the passion fruit flavor, but it was the perfect tartness imo. I hope they'll have the hibiscus sour next time I visit. Beer and cider are $6.50-7. I tried my friend's Viking Blonde and that was light and not hoppy. I enjoyed that. They closed the garage doors as the night went on cause it got chilly, and their heat lamps weren't working, but they did have a heater. The only catch is that you have to walk around the side door to exit to get back to the lot. There's extra party space there that I saw on my way out. Overall, it's a very chill, cool place to gather with friends, catch a game, or throw a party.

We really enjoyed the brews and the excellent pizza. The server was nice and explained everything to us first-timers. Everything was clean, and the metal sculpture decor was fantastic! Thank you to the server and cook for allowing us veggie lovers to modify the white. It was so yummy! We hope to return someday, but maybe not on a big event weekend. We're a little old for such shenanigans, but I'm sure others had a blast!

What a great brewery! No complaints on the beer but the best part of this place was the atmosphere. They had great food trucks and other vendors. Michelada, pizza and even CornHub . They also have live music, nice bartenders, a great open back patio/garage style drinking area and shuffle board inside.

WHAT AN AWESOME HIDDEN GEM! Did a bit of day drinking and stumbled across this puppy. Definitely a lot more children than anticipated and seems to have a lot of families that come out here.. nonetheless this place is an awesome brewery. There are so many bad ass welding art pieces that Definitely caught my eye! Inside is open and spacious.. super modern. When you walk towards the bathroom, there is a little art gala for everyone to see. Pieces made from bottle caps that show off Houston's pride. Recommend for a date night, out with friends and for families. They have corn hole and is dog friendly!

Best place to come to on beautiful warm days. Great beer and awesome pizza. I got a flight of beers and a chicken vindaloo pizza. Pizza is delicious!

I have been going here several years to enjoy their brews and have a few snacks (can't beat a fried pretzel). I will have to say the beer keeps getting better with the Smash, Pilsner, and Blonde as a few favorites....if you can get your hands on a can of their Pecan Porter, I highly recommend if you like Porters. What surprised me recently was how well they do with special events. We had a "beer dinner" there where that they collaborated with the restaurant Refuge to put together a 5-course food and beer pairing menu! Pictures are included....This is not your average icehouse!!!

A legit place to come for some brew and fun times with the family. They have about 8 beers on tap. I got a ginger cider (which is not their brew, but amazing!). Additionally, I got a porter and it was great as well. I wasn't as thrilled about the blonde or the IPA. But that wouldn't prevent me from coming here because the other two beers were amazing! The ambience is causal and fun. They have plenty of seating and the seating is picnic tables and rustic and perfect. Generally it's not too loud. Although they do have live music on Saturdays and I came on Friday so the noise level may be louder then. An awesome perk is that they have a food truck and when it's Pambo's tacos, they're amazing! I got chicken tacos and the chicken was super tender and flavorful. Finally, service is friendly and efficient. They will give you samples to decide which beer yo want to go with, which is awesome! A bonus is they have life size connect four game, corn hole (if it's not rainy) & a TON of board games like: life, battleship, etc

    Watchtower Wit 5/5

First time visiting this hidden gem and enjoyed the brews I tried, the atmosphere & friendly knowledgeable staff. I had the Viking Blonde it was smooth easy light drink with hints of grapefruit and lemon & the Watchtower Wit a Belgian White that had taste of sweet orange peel and coriander, similar to blue moon but better. There is food ordering on site for some quick grub. Good place to safely gather & enjoy some darts, Cornhole or live music when available. Check their website for details.

I have been to a few brewpubs in Houston and in just one visit, Fortress has become my favorite. The location is great and it has a backwoods ambience, which is surprising since it is so close to Spring Cypress. Be sure to follow the signage since it is around back. Beer selection (I need to get a photo on my next visit):. Wit, IPA, Blonde, and a Porter are all brewed in-house. They also had a Cider on tap, but I believe that was brought in. Each beer had a nice write up and after trying all 4, my preference is the Wit (since I like beer with a hint of fruit). Food selection:. The brewpub partners with food trucks as they do not have a kitchen. While I was there, I saw two trucks (one rotated out at 6 pm, and the other arrived 15 minutes later). It is a cool concept, but also creates a bit of ambiguity since you don't know the style and quality that is going to be there. Speaking to another patron, the brewpub also encourages ordering food togo, so that could be a good option as well. Overall, it was a great first visit and I will definitely be there again. I promise next time will take photos!

I can't believe this place has been here 2 years and I just now found out about it! Great beer and some good alternatives for the non beer drinker and the FOOD is AMAZING! Go on Tuesday and get their Birria tacos!!!!

I wish we could have just sat and worked through their whole menu... we'll definitely be back next time to sample more. On this first go-round we had the meatball apps and boudain eggrolls. The meatballs were very tender and well seasoned. You only get theee per order but they are a nice size, not tiny. The eggrolls were delish and paired wonderfully with the mustard dipping sauce, but I thought they could use a boost of spice in the boudain - between the fried wrappers and the mustard, the nuanced flavors of the boudain itself gets a bit lost. Still excellent. For the beer we opted for No One Asked, which is described as a brown ale but drinks more like a porter and was a nice choice with all of the apps and pizza. We settled on the Meat Machine for a shareable pizza but I would have also loved to try the Gochu-Gang and the Herbed Ricotta, but they all sound creative and tasty... so many options, so little time! If you haven't been here yet - DO IT!

They prepared my food ahead of time. Pizzas, Brussels sprouts that we all fought over, hummus, nachos, and 3 sets of wings. When we arrived the tables had reserved signs with our group name. It was 3pm so we were all starving. We ordered drinks at the bar and some of my group members pointed out all the pride flags making them feel welcome and happy to patronize this place. People commented on the ginger beer and loved every single thing on our tables. Most awesome is that they didn't want a deposit two weeks before when I called even though I offered since they were making so much food for 20. I wanted them to know we were really going to show up. As a group of artists, we loved the artwork especially the mural with Houston letters. We took a group photo and some of us headed back on the road to SA completely satisfied. Others loved the vibe of the place and neighborhood and decided to stay longer and explore some more. Thank you Gristworkz!

Inedible steak night…read more I've been coming to Gristworkz. They brew their own beers, have a huge kitchen with pizzas and finger foods. Each night has a special. They have indoors and outdoors seating. They accept dogs on the patio. Parking is rather easy. But this time, on Wednesday, the food didn't meet expectations. Service was great. The two gentlemen are at the bar, super friendly and ready to take your order. Wednesday is steak night. We came here to try and this will be the first and last night for the food, and might even be on the bottom of my list to get out of my way for beers as well. We've got two orders of steak, $25 each, which is rather affordable, or so we thought. You have to order sides, which is fine. I chose brussel sprouts and caramelized onions and a basket of tater tots. You get a buzzer. The brussel sprouts came out first. Cooked and ok to eat. Then, the steaks took a while. The entertaining part is that you can see the kitchen. But I see one of the cooks touching the meats for a bit too long. Fine, use a thermometer to ensure the steaks are cooked to our requests. But my rare steak was served luke warm. I might be too demanding. Let's see the second order, which took an additional dozen minutes to be served. At a medium rare, the steak was unfortunately inedible. Luke warm once again, and ultra chewy. No matter what teeth, what knife, whatever cutting method, it was a piece of plastic. I was horrified. Was I too harsh on steaks ? Neither orders had flavors besides a quick peppery taste. The caramelized onions weren't a side, they were served on top of the second steak order. Let's not forget about the tator tots. When they were served after the brussel sprouts, they were also close to cold. I asked to be warmed up or redone. Then, they tasted like full of oil. Was their frying oil not hot enough ? I don't know what's happening but all the food orders failed. The one memory I have from the kitchen is staring at the cooks touching flipping massaging those steaks with the thermometer. With gloves but they weren't edible. So... Did she know ? Back to the bartenders, I mentioned the results and they did not wait to refund both orders, which was a very generous act. Last comment was "they didn't receive the proper meat order". Then, don't serve it !!! Say they're sold out ! Something. Don't pretend to do something well to lose the trust of the patreon. Very disappointed. It was supposed to be a steak night, enjoying the cooler weather outdoors with beers. We finished that first and one beer and ran out as soon as we could. Still hungry.
