Great atmosphere and great beer. There's conveniently a pizza joint next door that you can order/pay at the bar and they'll bring it over.

We stopped in and I asked if they did flights and I simply got a rude "nope" and the guy just looked away. So I ordered a Happy Accidents pale ale that was decent. I asked if they had stickers and I got the same "Nope". I asked if they ever had them or if they were just out, "out" was the reply. Not exactly a chatty guy. So, this most recent visit, I came with a couple buddies. We stopped in before the World Baseball Classic. Still no flights and still no stickers. (The stickers are important for my garage man cave wall!). However, the beertender was a much friendlier lady this time and I got an orange fudge stout that wasn't very good. The place itself is pretty cool for the most part. Really big outdoor area with a bunch of shipping containers turned patio covers. There are a bunch of pinball machines, and the decor is fun. They are also heavy on the cannabis side of things. Areas for improvement: Get some stickers offer flights so people can try your beers parking sucks

It's nestled in central Oak Forest area amongst residential homes and bungalows and I just love that vibe. I usually visit during the week day so not a big crowd. I enjoy sitting out on the patio or couch. There's usually a food truck outside for small bites and burgers as well. In addition to beers on tap, they also have this cool concept of in which flavored ice cubes of orange juice and different flavors are placed inside Prosecco, for a refreshing mimosas which I thought was neat. Parking is located by the right side of the building as there's a huge lot. Payment is required.

Brewery #388 This…read morewas my favorite brewery of the 7 I visited on my past trip to the Houston area. It's a small place but the tap list was large, the atmosphere was relaxing with plants everywhere (bonus points since my girlfriend is a botanophile....that's a big word for lover of plants), and there were hiking pictures everywhere. I got a flight and sat outside. The flight included 6 beers (SCORE!) 4 IPA's, a stout and a hefeweizen but you can get unlimited 4 oz beers. All of them really good Humboldt Hazy being my favorite. It was delicious, hoppy, juicy glass of perfection. The beertenders were very friendly and knowledgeable. They have food trucks that park out front plus there are other eateries down the street. Really cool place

It was raining, so we entered on the backside of the property and stayed at the pizza & pints area (indoor casual eating spot with amazing freshly made pizza. We also had the best Caesar salad). Great place for couples and families. The crew was so friendly and dozens of beers on tap. Katz' iced tea, too. Large, clean restrooms. More comfortable and more accessible than St.Arnold's (which I also love). This is a must try.

Brewery #387 Karbach…read moreis a very large craft brewery with a huge distribution network, so I have had some of their beers before. They have a full sit-down restaurant, bar, outdoor patio, biergarten, gift shop, barber shop, dentist....ok I may have made up the last 2. When we got here, we 1st went to their gift shop so I can get a sticker for my garage wall and ended up picking up a tin tacker too. They even threw in a few free glasses. Score! Everything was reasonably priced too. From there we went to the Biergarten because they had a huge TV to watch the football game. To my slight disappointment, the tap list outside was limited and they didn't have flights, so we went back inside. We grabbed 2 seats at the bar and I got my flight. The tap list is very large, and they have 5 rotating tap room exclusives that they call "Fun Series". I always love to see this. Take notes Shiner! Their flights are 5 beers each (always love the larger flight boards.....also take more notes Shiner with your measly 3 beer flights) so I got 3 different IPA's, a brown ale and a pumpkin lager. I usually hate pumpkin beers, but this one was quite good. My favorite was the Rodeo Clown Double IPA. The lady friend was able to get a non-alcoholic beer that they also brew. We didn't get any food, but I will certainly be back to try it.

I want to send a huge high five to Dave and staff at Gristworkz! I took a group to Meow Wolf…read moreHouston from San Antonio and then to Gristworkz for a late lunch on a Saturday. They prepared my food ahead of time. Pizzas, Brussels sprouts that we all fought over, hummus, nachos, and 3 sets of wings. When we arrived the tables had reserved signs with our group name. It was 3pm so we were all starving. We ordered drinks at the bar and some of my group members pointed out all the pride flags making them feel welcome and happy to patronize this place. People commented on the ginger beer and loved every single thing on our tables. Most awesome is that they didn't want a deposit two weeks before when I called even though I offered since they were making so much food for 20. I wanted them to know we were really going to show up. As a group of artists, we loved the artwork especially the mural with Houston letters. We took a group photo and some of us headed back on the road to SA completely satisfied. Others loved the vibe of the place and neighborhood and decided to stay longer and explore some more. Thank you Gristworkz!

Inedible steak night…read more I've been coming to Gristworkz. They brew their own beers, have a huge kitchen with pizzas and finger foods. Each night has a special. They have indoors and outdoors seating. They accept dogs on the patio. Parking is rather easy. But this time, on Wednesday, the food didn't meet expectations. Service was great. The two gentlemen are at the bar, super friendly and ready to take your order. Wednesday is steak night. We came here to try and this will be the first and last night for the food, and might even be on the bottom of my list to get out of my way for beers as well. We've got two orders of steak, $25 each, which is rather affordable, or so we thought. You have to order sides, which is fine. I chose brussel sprouts and caramelized onions and a basket of tater tots. You get a buzzer. The brussel sprouts came out first. Cooked and ok to eat. Then, the steaks took a while. The entertaining part is that you can see the kitchen. But I see one of the cooks touching the meats for a bit too long. Fine, use a thermometer to ensure the steaks are cooked to our requests. But my rare steak was served luke warm. I might be too demanding. Let's see the second order, which took an additional dozen minutes to be served. At a medium rare, the steak was unfortunately inedible. Luke warm once again, and ultra chewy. No matter what teeth, what knife, whatever cutting method, it was a piece of plastic. I was horrified. Was I too harsh on steaks ? Neither orders had flavors besides a quick peppery taste. The caramelized onions weren't a side, they were served on top of the second steak order. Let's not forget about the tator tots. When they were served after the brussel sprouts, they were also close to cold. I asked to be warmed up or redone. Then, they tasted like full of oil. Was their frying oil not hot enough ? I don't know what's happening but all the food orders failed. The one memory I have from the kitchen is staring at the cooks touching flipping massaging those steaks with the thermometer. With gloves but they weren't edible. So... Did she know ? Back to the bartenders, I mentioned the results and they did not wait to refund both orders, which was a very generous act. Last comment was "they didn't receive the proper meat order". Then, don't serve it !!! Say they're sold out ! Something. Don't pretend to do something well to lose the trust of the patreon. Very disappointed. It was supposed to be a steak night, enjoying the cooler weather outdoors with beers. We finished that first and one beer and ran out as soon as we could. Still hungry.

The beer selection is solid with plenty of options whether you're in the mood for something crisp, hoppy, or a little adventurous. Food-wise, the wings and fries came out exactly how they should--hot, crispy, and perfect with a cold pint. Nothing fancy needed when the basics are done right. But what really made the experience stand out was the hospitality. Gabe behind the bar was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and the kind of bartender who makes you feel like you've been coming there for years. By the end of the night it honestly felt like we were regulars. Great beer, hot food, and top-tier service. That's a recipe for a place I'll definitely be back to.

Great little brewery that serves excellent craft beer and surprisingly good food. We come here…read moreevery chance we get, especially since it's right in our neighborhood. The staff is generally friendly and welcoming, and even though I'm not a big beer head anymore, I still enjoy most of their offerings. Their food menu is solid: they have wings, burgers, and more--but my favorite is the steak sandwich with fries. It never disappoints. The brewery itself is also a great place to hang out. The patio is huge, and they recently added covered lounge areas with heaters, which makes it comfortable year-round. There are TVs everywhere, and they show plenty of local games, including rugby. They used to support the Sabercats back when they were still around. Overall, it's a reliable neighborhood brewery that's firmly in our regular rotation. You can also get their in cans to go if you want to!

The first time that I went there, I went by myself and had a seat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and greeted me when I say down. I ordered some beers and a hot dog with chili. Both the beers and hot dog were great after the three hour bus ride I just took. The third time that I went there, I went with my friend and we had a seat at the bar. This was our last night in Houston and we decided to have a few drinks before our trip ended. I got a beer in their special St. Patrick's Day glass. The bartender was again attentive and it was a good night. Looking back, I guess both my first and last stops in Houston were here. The second time that I came here was also with my friend and we sat at a table to order food. The waitress was great and kept checking on us. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was crispy and tasty. This is the only part that I had an issue with from the restaurant. At some point during my second visit, a woman came into the restaurant with her pants covered in poop. She left and then came back another time and walked among the tables. The bartender eventually escorted her out. Here is why I am still giving this place 4 stars after this. The service and food was still good even and I had two uneventful visits. This visit, I just happened to sit at a table closest to the door. If you want to make sure you don't have an experience like this, you can sit at the bar, or upstairs or further away from the front door. I recommend this place for a great selection of beer, great staff and great food.
