Brewery #398 I have been to Frost Town Brewing twice, the 1st time was for the World Baseball Classic, and the next time was in June for an Astros game. The space itself is very nice inside, the kind of brewery my girlfriend would like. It's bright, large windows, clean and lots of plants. They don't do flights on game days even if no one is in line and there are like 10 people in the brewery. The 1st time I came, this rule made sense but the second time they had damn near as many workers as customers. So, I have only tried 3 beers. A stout that I didn't care for and 2 IPA's that were pretty good. There is no food onsite and the 2 times that I was there, I didn't see a food truck either. They also offer free parking for the Astros games if you have a 15,00 tab so that alone is worth the visit. read more

There's a handful of breweries in and around downtown that are worth a visit and Frost Town is one of them. Fun fact: the brewery is named after the Frost Town settlement which is considered one of the first neighborhoods in the city of Houston. Frost Town is a few blocks from Daikin (still haven't adjusted to the name change) and is a popular spot for folks to go before/after Astros' games. The brewery is quite large and is great for groups. It's two stories, though I've never sat upstairs. There's a nice sized patio as well. According to their website, they're family friendly and dog friendly too. I've enjoyed all of the beers that I've tried including the Kolsch and Pub Ale. I haven't ordered a flight, but I like that you can order up to 6 pours (I've never seen a beer flight with more than 4-5 pours). In addition to beer, they offer wine, cider, and NA beverages. They offer weekly specials like $5 fruit beers on Fridays. They also have events like game nights, yoga (Sundays), and trivia night (Wednesdays). If you're planning to hang awhile, they have a shelf full of board games near the bathrooms for patrons to play. They sometimes have a food truck on site, although the times that I have visited, they didn't have one. They do allow patrons to bring in outside food (if you need a Tex Mex fix, Irma's is nearby). I have not had any issues with parking, though the times that I visited haven't been super busy. They have a parking lot as well as street parking (free after 6 pm and all day on Sundays). I first visited this place as a pre-game recommendation from a friend before the Astros game. This is a cute place where you can chill with a cold craft beer in downtown. The best perk is if you buy a beer, you can park for free for the Astro's game. I was sold! The place is on a smaller side compared to other breweries. But it's brightly lit, clean and has a nice patio space. The staff are very friendly and they'll let you sample their brews so you can pick one that's right for you. The patio section is dog friendly and they have a food truck on the patio. The first time we went, they had a smash burger food truck that was pretty good. The second time, they had a different truck but we didn't order food. In addition to the patio, there's also an upstairs section with some tables and some lounge chairs in the corner. It looks like an ideal space if you wanted to get your colleagues together for a meeting or a study group. The selection of beers is on the smaller side as well. Despite the limited selection, you should still be able to find something to your taste. I'm not sure if I'd come here outside of baseball season given how busy the surrounding area is. But if I am going to a game, this will be one my spots to frequent! read more

Absolutely loved this place! It is so close to Daikin Park, a very easy walk and if you buy at least $15 in drinks you can leave your car in their parking lot for the game. They have a decent selection of drinks and a nice outdoor patio. My kids grabbed Battleship and Connect Four and enjoyed sitting in the hammocks while drinking their soft drinks. There is a food truck outside but we chose to eat at the game instead. It's a great deal for parking and we also grabbed a couple drinks on the way back instead of heading straight home. Who knew this place existed?! I surely did not. It took an Astros game and some friends of mine who are seasoned fans to introduce me to Frost Town Brewing. Now that I am in the know, let me tell you about it! We chose this venue for our pregame debauchery specifically because they allow game day parking with the purchase of a beer. Considering that just a block of way parking is 30 bucks, and a beer is $7. Plus I get a beer with that parking, it's kind of a steal. They don't have a large lot, so you need to make sure that if this is your plan as well, that you get there early enough to secure a spot. That also means you'll probably buy more than one beer, which brings you a little bit closer to conventional parking prices. But again, you get beer with your parking. Savvy business practice if you ask me. It also cozies right up to the 59 entrance of the highway, and that makes life a whole hell of a lot easier getting in and out without having to deal with downtown traffic. So consider that as well. Walking in this place is very tidy and looks very new. I'm not entirely sure when they opened, but by the looks of it it was recent. It's a very open area inside with two stories. The second story looks more acclimated to game nights and larger gatherings. They also have board games available for people to play as they drink. And they have themed evenings throughout the month. In the last month they had a Star wars costume for May 4th, they do Dungeons& Dragons weekly, as well as weekly trivia. They also have a patio area that has a lot of space as well. And they welcome food trucks to come on out. And for those with furry friends, it is a dog friendly joint. Service wise the staff are really nice. There is a little bit of a line at times but it moves pretty quick. They have a smaller menu, but there should be something for just about anyone coming in. They even have one stout, which warms my heart in this land of IPAs. While it is not necessarily the most accessible for me coming out of Pearland when I want a beer, and they don't have an expansive menu like other places, I will definitely be back for pre-astros shenanigans in the future. I hope that they flourish and that their menu expands to a larger selection, I love to see local dominate the scene. read more

I came to Frost Town Brewing to pick up a race packet for the Trot for Trans Visibility 5K yesterday. I had no idea what to expect of this place until I walked in. This place is huge with inside and outside plus a parking lot in the back. I sat at the outdoor picnic table after gotten my nonalcoholic beer from Mexico. I first sampled a couple of lower-alcohol beers (3.8% & 4.2%). Sorry I don't have tolerance for alcohol. I was already tipsy sampling. They were tasty though. I saw their activities flyer showing many things I could bring my friends to participate. I parked on the street because it was Sunday. I would love to come back to try the Sunday brunch. read more

Such a friendly atmosphere. Great beers and the food they sell here is on point. Today they had polish sausage. I don't recommend the tamales. Definitely a great stop if you are heading to are coming from an Astros game! Definitely walkable, so I would just stay parked and enjoy pre-or post game festivities. There is a large seating area within the brewery so it is definitely great for groups. There is a great outside area as well. The bartenders are very friendly and very knowledgeable so be sure to ask plenty of questions if craft beer is not your typical scene. Highly recommend checking this place out ! read more

Love that Houston has some cool craft beer options. Frost Town was a cool find. Parking was a little challenging but once we figured that out, walking in was easy. Lots of room for larger parties. Wide open spaces inside and out, upstairs and downstairs. Not many beer options and nothing fairly light (aka low in IBUs) but I did spy a cider option in cans, once we sat down. Not immediately obvious as the option wasn't listed with the beer options, but I will remember next time we're passing through! read more

This place was really tricky to find (our GPS tried to route us down a one-way street to get here lol) but once we got there we had a great time! It's in a pretty cool spot downtown, right next to Minute Maid. The vibe was really open and bright, and overall a cool place to hang with friends or grab a drink before an Astros game. I tried the Tropical Tide IPA which was okay. I'm not a huge fan of IPA's to be honest, so I didn't love it. My buddy also ordered though and he really enjoyed it, so if you like IPA's you'll probably like it. I would definitely go back and try more drinks off the menu!! read more

Only been here once but the service was on point, the environment inside and outside is bright and happy, kid friendly, and the employees were hands down awesome. There is gravel parking behind the brewery and also meter parking along the street. The beer is delicious! I got a flight and I am in aww of this flight because you get 6!!! Y'all it was a beautiful sight!!! There are various places to sit inside and outside. With the Houston heat, sitting outside wasn't very inviting but in nice weather it's a great area Great for groups. Plants for sale! If you are a plant mom and dad then this is a plus. The ones I looked at are nicely priced. They do not serve food here but they do have vendors that come and serve up food for purchase. I will definitely be back because this brewery has moved up to the top of my brewery list. If you want to go make sure you send an invite my way! Hahahaha I should also note that the staff was so kind...my daughter vomited on their lovely floor and they came to mop it and offered her sparkling lemonade to help settle her stomach. Frost Town is a great brewery with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. I stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon while I was in the downtown area. It was pretty calm since it was a week day afternoon so I pulled out a book and enjoyed a flight of beers. I forgot to snap a picture of the full flight, but my favorite was the "Cascadia" pale ale which had a nice citrusy taste. No food served during the day (or food trucks in the area) but a staff member said they allow outside food that's ordered via a food delivery service. It looks like they host pretty cool events during the week like a run club, trivia and game night. read more

One of the best finds during our trip to Houston! We love drinking our way through a new city, discovering local breweries. We were in need of somewhere to grab a local beer and wanted a patio to enjoy with some family -- scrolling through photos on Yelp led us to one of the patio at Frost Town, and we were sold. The beer menu was solid - several options that made narrowing down a choice hard. I tasted a few, but ultimately went with a hefe. My husband couldn't decide and went for a flight (and maximized the amount of beer he got to try). My father in law also got a hefe, and they had some local sodas that gave my mother in law something to sip on too! The patio was every bit as perfect as the pictures made it seem. Had we lived in the area, we would 100% be locals at this brewery. Wishing nothing but success for them, because should we be back in Houston we will definitely be coming back here! What really sealed the deal for me is that one of my favorites songs (by one of my favorite bands) was playing when I walked in. I swear it was a sign from the universe (and whoever was playing DJ that day has awesome taste in music). read more

We went for their soft opening and official opening as we've been looking forward to this spot opening for some time. A lot of nods here to the history of Houston. Frost Town being a nod to the residents who settled along Buffalo Bayou. The area also being home to one of the first commercial breweries. The logo representing the six wards and their presence being in what was the second ward. Sustainability is a part of their dna and the brewer's table at the top overlooking the taproom and brewing operation was crafted from a tree that came from a local ranch. Plants around the place are from Plant Haven and available for purchase. Seating is in abundance and the outside chairs make for a perfect group setting. Parking Limited, but possible on the streets around. We walked being as close as we are, but this spot is perfect for those attending an Astros game if visiting from elsewhere so hop over before the game and grab a pint. Food / Drinks Food trucks rotate, check social for what may be there. They have a couple of cider options if you aren't much for beer. Namely from City Orchard, another local business. The beer, simply said, we enjoyed everything we tried. Hop Grade - American IPA, Verano - Pale Ale, Rhine Bier - Altbier, and the Pilsner. Personally I found the German style to be my favorite thus far. Cost Going rate you'd expect for a local pint. Service Super quick. There is hardly ever a wait and more than helpful letting you try the different styles along with a bit of background to each. Overall This spot is perfect for those looking for great beer, quick service, and some grub via local food trucks. Personally, as one who attends Astros games frequently as a season ticket holder, this will be a go to prior to a game! Who needs $17 dollar beer in the stadium when you can get great beer here! read more

A great craft brewery in a convenient, if somehow a bit hidden right in the shadow of Minute Maid Park (MMP). As a frequent attendee of Astros games, I heard about it and bookmarked but never had a chance to pop in. That was until I was in the area after the World Series to make some gear purchases and wandered over on an early Friday afternoon. I definitely do not regret. Take a perpendicular line up Jackson Street from MMP and after a few blocks you'll find it. Not a huge or inviting store front (I even had trouble finding the door) but once you're in, the atmosphere is outstanding. I was a bit confused by the scrabble-like board of beers (kind of kitsch) but asked the helpful lady behind the bar for a full menu (e.g. flavor breakdowns, ABV, styles, etc) and it was quickly provided. Their wheelhouse is german style beers (I'll leave it to you to find their recent rotations) and everything was good. Lagers, Kolsch, Pils, Wits, Marzon, German Wheat. Even an IPA and American Porter. I did a flight which can be up to six and at least four which worked out great. Liked all for what they were, so top in class of all styles. Warehouse-ey atmosphere overall with big and small tables, high ceiling, some exposed pipes for ambiance, etc. Very spacious. I think there was a pool table. Plus outside seating for certain times of year (not this day, it was pouring). Top five brewery in Houston for me. read more

My husband and I are visiting Houston from Denver (where craft beer is EVERYWHERE), and decided to do a brewery crawl to compare cities. My husband is a beer snob. I'm not a beer drinker really at all, but we both LOVED this beer and the ambiance. Top of the list for all the breweries we visited. The place is super clean, modern, cozy, nice outdoor space, dog friendly, food trucks, board games. More importantly, the beer tastes delicious! Lots of types to pick from. Very cool little brewery. Beers were all good and most importantly for a non-beer drinker joining beer drinkers in their brewery journey, they offered a few decent wine selections. They offered a large beer flight tray that almost every guest was enjoying at their table. Ordering is at the bar, no table service. Their patio is the prime spot if you can get shade. The bar doesn't offer food but they had a hotdog vendor (Divine Dogs) out back which was a good mid day snack, shared among the group. It's kid friendly. Frost Town Brewing is hidden in a far downtown Houston corner, a few blocks away from Minutemaid Park. Because of its proximity, it's a great place to wait out the post Astros game traffic. They've got a really neat outdoor area that has a food truck and plenty of seating. But for those Houston summers, there's plenty of indoor seating on the ground level as well as on the second floor. The seating can accommodate all sorts of group sizes, including really large groups. In fact, the last time we were there there was a group of 12 people there for a birthday. I love the open concept interior and how clean and well maintained their area is. They also have adorable little indoor plants all around that are available for purchase if you want to take a little bit home with you. read more
