Brewery #401 What's that old expression? Don't judge a book by its cover? Yeah well I judged before I went in and was wrong. So, there is a parking lot right off the service road of the highway. Then you walk down the road a little ways to a chain length fenced in area that has weeds and grass knee high. My 1st thought was "what in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre trailer park trash shit is this place?". I like adventures so I went in anyway and I am glad I did! City Acre had about 15 different beers on tap and I got my usual flight. I got a west coast IPA. a strawberry chocolate sour, a Belgian, and a porter. Flannel weather was the porter, and it tasted like a thin mint Girl Scout Cookie. Delicious. Everything was great. The strawberry chocolate sour was a tasty treat and I usually hate sours. The beertender was super friendly and she gave great suggestions. They have a kitchen onsite that looked good, but I had already eaten. Maybe next time. My family lives about 5 minutes from this restaurant and I never even knew it! Glad I came across this place, very beautiful environment, lots of space to hang out. Already looking forward to going back so I can see more of what this place has to offer. Got the Cluck City Sandwich, pretty good, I did wish it came with a few more fried pickles (I only like got 2 ) The chicken was good, breading was great, but I think the juice of the chicken made the sandwich get soggy a bit too quickly. The fries that came with it were very good, nice and crispy and great flavor. The staff was very friendly, always keeping an eye out for what customers may need. The new menu is full of exciting and creative options, and we had a hard time choosing what to try first (a good problem to have!). I found this place on my way home from the Intercontinental airport. Finding the parking lot was a challenge, but it was worth it. The place is run with passion. It is a super comfortable place with indoor and outdoor spaces. Based on the Mac & Cheese and Mediterranean Salad, I'd say that they have a world-class chef. This such a fun hole in the wall spot! I went in for a bite to eat and a beer. Brews and food were made in house. I met the owner (very friendly) and the chef. The waitress/bartender was great as well. The food was tasty and portions were large. They have a large outdoor area that would be enjoyable when the weather cools down a bit (it was too hot and humid during my visit). Came here with my family to meet up for lunch and greatly enjoyed our visit. There was plenty of room outside for the kids to play, and they are dog friendly. We ordered a couple of beers and food. The guy helping us navigate the food and beers was super friendly and very helpful. We sample some beers and then ordered our food. My little cousins enjoyed their house made rootbeers, and we enjoyed their berry IPA and Mesa Cerveza. Food came out pretty quickly, and overall, it was really good. The chicken for the chicken and waffles was very moist and had the perfect crunchy skin. The only tiny issue I had was that the waffles were very sweet. With the hot syrup it it was a little sweetness overload. There tots, though, are AMAZING! Excited to go back to try more! read more

And it's the perfect COVID gathering or date spot as all tables are outdoors and properly spaced out. It's a very chill and cute atmosphere with the gardens on the side and trees. Feels like an outdoor party in someone's backyard. Menus are also accessible via QR code and hand sanitizer is provided. They had a more extensive drink menu than I expected for a microbrewery, so even if you don't drink or like beer you have options, which is very nice. I have stoped by City Ace Brewing about 4 or 5 times, I was in the mood for a beer as I traveled from downtown Houston back to Lufkin, Texas and thought I would stop by. It was around 2 PM and I was hungry but thought I may have missed the lunch hour. I ordered IPA about some food. I bought some chicken strips, expecting the fast food kind of affair. Instead of some chicken strips, I got what consisted of about three whole chicken breasts breaded in some fantastic crunchy bread that I loved with some fries and they were great fries. Freshly made didn't seem to ever have been frozen I'll be back whenever I pass this brewery to have another beer and try some other food. It's a great place to go, enjoy a beer! read more

Decided to visit City Acre today. So glad that we did. The staff was amazing. I wasn't in the mood for beer. But they actually had the best frozen non-alcoholic drink that I had three of them. Rick, the Chef, was super friendly and a giant help with all the questions we asked. I absolutely loved his pickled veggies that we crushed. When asked about the veggies outside he told all about them and even got me a non tomato lover on border to try one. Everyone there was super friendly and just very relaxed. Hidden gem. A friend suggested this spot and I was surprised the location. I grew up around here, went to high school around the corner so a brewery here, wow, what a great find. There is a unpaved parking lot across the street for easy access. There is outdoor seating but we were there after a weekend of rain so indoors it was. Order at the counter. We went with sampler. The guy suggested OctoberFest and IPA (more into light/pale ale) and my friend chose coffee stout and RIS (dark ales) and the urban cowboy burgers. There are bench type seating. Max cap was 65. There is self service water. And a nice open feel. I love breweries. This was a nice spot. The urban cowboy burger was soooo delicious. Serious thought I was in heaven. The beers were all great. The octoberfest was my favorite. The coffee stout was delicious if you like coffee and the RIS reminded me of Guiness. Great ambience - just found this place out of the blue. Due to Covid - there are guidelines which I think are great. Out door seating is ample! Parking is not in front so you have to walk half a block. They even provide mosquito repellant on each table (nice touch!). Lets talk about service, beer, food and bill. Service - super friendly and courteous. Some of servers are eager to help - others....leave a bit to be discussed. (Will touch on that in a bit). Beer - TXPA; refreshing and not too hoppy. Their beers seem to be well balanced and brewed. So much that I ended up drinking 2. Food - decent menu....but for what you get its a tad expensive. Then again I dont think there are many options close by. Food service took way too long to make 2 burgers & 1 fish tacos - almost 30 minutes. Not many people were eating. Burger is good not great; lacks a bit of flavour. Fries were great. Bill; cheap! For three people: 2 burgers, 1 fish taco, 6 beers. Now, I basically had to do jumping jacks for the server to come out as he was sitting inside chilling with the A/C. Would I go again? Sure, but I'm going already fed. read more

My guys came here for the brews. I tagged along for the food. I live with two beer aficionados who have (most likely) been to every brewery in the greater Houston area multiple times. There are some breweries that beckon them to return (and bring me along), while there are others that suffice with one visit (according to them). City Acre Brewing is one of those locations that they continued to talk about - and recommended that I join them when they return. They both sung the praises of the beer as well as the food. I see what they were talking about! Spot on! I do like a tasty glass of beer every once in a while, and the Hitchcock Blonde was a tangy-tasting blonde that satisfied. With 5 "regular" beers on tap and 5 additional "specialty" beers from which to choose, City Acre has quite the variety for a brewery that is just celebrating its one-year anniversary. Their food, as another reviewer stated, brings it to the next level, though. No beef on the burger menu - so get that notion out of your head and think outside the box - hubby and I split an Urban Cowboy burger (pork/venison with other jazz on it) and son got a smoked turkey sandwich. That burger! I am not one to rave about a burger, but wow! De-lish! Smoked turkey looked moist and the sandwich was thick; son said it was very good and very filling. Fries accompanied both plates and were gobbled down. A tip - do not desecrate your food with any condiments: these are burgers and fries that are perfect straight out of the kitchen, prepared to be enjoyed as is. Ketchup would obscure the beautifully-blended flavors. Atmosphere is comfortable and service was cordial and friendly. Start your tab when you come in and close it out when you're ready to leave. What could be easier? And - City Acre will fill your growler. If you've got one, bring it along. They'll fill it and keep it chilled until you're ready to depart. Nice! read more

The food here was very good. We had the German Burger and the egg rolls that were on rotation and they were both super tasty. They also make their sodas and teas and lemonades on site. I don't drink beer, but the people I was with said the beer was good. I would improve their rating to a 5 if they served a guest cider or wine. The outdoor space is pretty large. It is a yard worth some seating and a fire pit they is possibly used on colder days. Feels very much like hanging out in someone's backyard. The burger was a tad dry, the turkey sandwich had good flavor but the bread could have been better - maybe just toast it. Observations: if you don't live in the area it's not really a worthwhile trek. Seems to be a decent neighborhood spot otherwise, but not spectacular. The "pretzel" is tasty, but more like a twisted breadstick - def not traditional in taste/texture. For a place that took this long to open I think I expected more. read more

What a nice surprise! Stopped in for lunch yesterday and fell in love with this 'Down Home' brewery and restaurant. Fabulous Cowboy Burger lives up to its reputation. The Wedge Salad was excellent too. And the beers, which is really the focus, were wonderful. We even sampled the beer-based margaritas. Surprisingly good. Super friendly folks. Honestly one of my favorite places yet! We love Houston we come here 1-3 times a year and so happy we came across this gem. It's a brewery plus they have awesome food! You can sit outside and all of the tables are 20 feet apart. There's so many trees that you are covered by either a little roof, tarp or tree. They have a garden that they actually use for their food. The employees are super friendly and talkative. I had a Pineapple Express alley let me tell you it literally tasted like pineapple!! This brewery is so cute! The place has so much space, so it's definitely kid and dog friendly. They had a selection of beers that had a great taste that was quite unique. For the food: We had the seasonal pickles as a starter, and The lady bird, and Tx cheesecake as entrees. The portions were a good amount for one person, and had a very homemade feel to the dishes. The bartender mentioned the Tx cheesecake would soon be taken off the menu, so make sure you try it before it's gone ! This lovely brewery in north Houston has what the name says, an acre of green space right in the city, with a beautiful setting, fabulous food, yummy beer, great staff, dog friendly, can't wait to go back! My husband had the fried chicken special which came with cream corn & potato salad, and I had an amazing veggie sandwich on homemade bread and the best French fries I've ever had. I'm vegan and when we first walked in the actual chef (Rick) greeted us and made me feel super welcome. The whole menu looked amazing, but like your typical brew pub.
