called in and ask what the soup was and they told me.. Really wanted it... Went there and they said they were out. One family was there and they didnt have soup. They should have said let me check to see if we still have some first... but they didnt care.. You need better quality workers. I've been coming here for a few years now and the food is always good and the servers are always nice. After not dining in for a few months, my husband and I stopped by yesterday. The gentleman who was serving us was dressed in sweat pants and a sweatshirt and he smelt bad. Very unprofessional and I thought he was a customer at first. I thought it was odd because all the other workers were dressed in uniform. Whenever he spoke to us he was blunt. It was like he didn't wanna be there. He hardly checked on us. I think he might have been new but I'm not sure. Although one of the other workers was this very sweet blonde girl who checked on us more than he did. Maybe he was having a bad day. read more

Went here about 35 minutes before closing. Much smaller restaurant then I expected, hardly any seating, but we were able to get the only large corner booth which was good. Ordered burgers and milkshakes for the kiddos, and added on onion rings to our meal. Everything was good. Fries are the crispy crinkle kind, my fav! Burger was what I expected. I tried the kids milkshakes ( to make sure they were safe:), and the butterscotch was the best. Service was good, price was decent. Not the best of anything, but no complaining. We really enjoy the burgers here. Service is either good, okay, or non existent! Went inside today to place an order to go. All tables were busy but a couple had just left so I was going to change my order to dine in and ask the waitress if she could clear the table for us. Stood at the register and no one came by for a good 2 or 3 minutes...finally a girl came out from the kitchen and actually BRUSHED against me to take out someone's drink. Didn't acknowledge me or anything. Then walked back to the kitchen, again brushing by me without saying anything. I even made eye contact with the cook and he didn't smile or anything. SO WEIRD to have such horrible customer service skills when working in the public. My friend was just walking in when I told him we're leaving, let's go somewhere else. So now we are down the street at Flashback Grill and have had awesome service. Last month I went inside to pick up and order and I handed the girl a $3 tip and she said, "put it right there"...not a "thank you" or any kind of appreciation. The food is good at Fins but at this point the service is not worth the bad mood for a good burger. Will unfortunately be going to check out other places. read more

The food is pretty good. I always get the chicken strips or a burger. It's a cute diner feel, and the atmosphere is adorable. The last few times we've been here, it's been getting worse and worse. Tonight was the final straw. The service was shockingly slow. There were 3 tables when we got there, and no one even acknowledged us for probably 10 minutes. After finally getting our food (it always take a while) we asked for a cup of ranch, never got it. No one even came back to our table the whole time. While looking around for a server, I noticed the waitress talking on her phone being the counter... We finally asked for refills (because every soda cup and water cup were empty) and she said she would, but then I watched her count cracker packets and restack plates that didn't need it. Ten minutes later, I got tired of waiting and went and asked for to go boxes and checks. I'm usually not a complainer, but this was insane. If it was a busy night, I could let it slide, but it was so slow! Maybe we'll try again in a few months. :( read more

Step into this place and it's like you are going back in time. This 1950's diner is one not to miss. I'm not talking from the kitsch angle, I am talking from the down home cooking angle. They even brew their own rootbeer! Their patties are made by hand, not sysco. The staff are friendly and service is good. I recommend the cheeseburger basket and a large rootbeer, or a rootbeer float if you are up to it. Tasty! Makes you feel like a kid again. read more

This place is great, prices are low, you can't beat the service, very attentive but not over the top annoying! Burgers taste great, crinkle cut fries are average but have great texture on them. I'd like to give lower but Fins has the best burger and fries in town. But service has gotten plain bad. I was in there a couple of weeks ago with my family. The last time we saw the waitress is when she dropped off our food. We had to go up to the register with our drinks for refills. When service is bad, the tip should reflect this but the same person who gave you the bad service is at the register asking how much the tip should be. Awkward. Went in today (posting this from Dairy Queen) and sat there for a few minutes. Never acknowledged. Never knew if we were supposed to sit or wait. Fins is a locally owned family establishment that has amazing food! They make tons of things in house. Their dressing, potato salad, etc.. oh and they even press their own meat which is from a local distributor. The owner loves his restaurant and you can often find him cooking your breakfast. I came back to Fins for the first time in about 20 years. The last time I was here I was in middle school so I wanted to come for nostalgia and also to have my husband try it. We were promptly given menus and had our drink orders taken, the waiter looked like he stepped straight out of the 50's with his outfit and hair style which was really neat. (Think Marty McFlys young dad, super adorable!) I had the classic burger my husband had a bacon burger that he doubled and they doubled the bacon as well. Which was fresh cooked bacon not paper thin microwave bacon. The burgers were delicious. Fries were good too. He got the homemade root beer which was great! It doesn't taste like mass produced root beer. We got our food in a reasonable amount of time and were checked on to make sure everything was to our liking even though it was busy. I went here on a Monday, the same day I try to avoid the consumption of meat. You'd figure hitting up a diner would be a dipshit move if you were looking to avoid animal protein but they did have a veggie burger option on the menu. Went with the veggie burger and paid the extra cash for some swiss cheese and some freedom fries. It wasn't bad. Maybe around $7 dollars total? Seems there were quite a few old dudes hanging out showing off their hot rods in the drive-in. I'm thinking I'll buff up the old 1994 Honda Accord and go shoot the breeze, you know, chat it up about transmissions and overhead cams. It used to be an A&W and still has the mugs. The burgers are nothing special. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and we ordered: the el dorado burger, the impala burger (with fries), and a butterscotch malt. Our total came out to $18.50 without tip, and the quality is not worth the price. Our burgers were very bland- way too much ice burg lettuce, way too little sauce. The quality of the meat was decent, but the patty seemed smaller than the quarter pound that they advertise. The fry "basket" was a medium-sized side order of freezer-bag crinkle fries which were fried in the same oil as the chicken fingers. The ketchup was weirdly salty. The malt was good. It was topped with spray-whipped cream and a cherry. The servers were very nice, but I was disappointed with the speed of service. we had to wait almost 10 minutes to receive a menu... the indoor restaurant is very small; it's not like they could have missed us. After ordering it took about 5 minutes to receive our malt which was good, but then we waited over 20 minutes to receive our food. While the price of food here is on the lower end of the restaurant spectrum, I didn't feel satisfied with my purchase on my way out the door. My own burgers are better than what I ate at fin's, and I don't own a burger diner. read more

What a gem!!! I scored!! This place is great - I've lived in the neighborhood a year & have never been here!! I can't believe all the time I've wasted at that place down the street!! I could of been here!!! I got a veggie omelet with ripe avocado on top. Cottage fries & thick cut rye toast for $6.95!! Total bill with coffee - $8.30. This is my new favorite place. I love this place & the food. It's a dive but it's an adorable dive. The service is... often unfortunate, because usually there is just one server even at the busiest times. Even with 2 servers, if it's busy, it's easy to see that they are trying & overworked. You just have to speak up once in a while to get someone's attention: no harm, no foul! If we go here, it's a day trip into Springfield, to go to glorified junk shops & thrift shops. We top it off with dinner here. Sometimes it has a bit of the cowboy saloon vibe, where locals turn around to look at you as you walk in. But it's cool. All you have to do is smile :) It's fairly priced & decent food. Downright super delicious, most of the time, especially if you are really hungry. Oh YEAH: You can eat outside in your car & it's a bit awkward but fun if it's a warm day. read more

Fin's is usually great, including the service, but tonight it was the worst. Service was extremely slow and forgetful. Ordered a regular milkshake that only filled the glass 2/3 full including the whipped cream and cherry! Brought it to the waitress's attention and all she did was shrug her shoulders and agree it was shorted. And no spoon was included with the chunky shake, asked for one TWICE and finally got a TEASPOON 20 minutes later. Disappointed in the fish n chips, too. Not an enjoyable evening at Fin's. read more

We went to Fin's last weekend for some breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent despite all the tables being full. The meal was the best my husband and I had had in 5 years and we have lived in many places and ate in many restaurants. I had the Denver Omelet with hashbrowns and toast. My husband has the chicken fried steak with eggs over easy, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage--I think, and a biscuit. Neither one of us finished our meals as there was so much food. It was all delicious and very affordable--less than $19 + tip. The coffee is also delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a yummy meal. read more

Breakfast is the best time to go. My family loves going here first thing in the morning on the weekends. Always the same faces working makes me know its consistent. Hearty portions well cooked and never dull. It's got that hot rod feel with the old school drive up windows. Outdoor seating is nice. One of the cleanest places I have been. Never super busy but never dead. Just steady and the server always keeps a good pace. If you don't want breakfast, lunch and dinners are also good. My wife's addicted to the milkshakes. We went here today for the very first time! For years, we had heard great things about the owner, Jerry, and the food but for some reason, we had never ventured down Main Street. This place is a classic diner with everything you would expect. We sat at the counter for my son's birthday lunch, which was really fun. He chose Fin's drive-in based on the photos of root beer floats and chili. My husband and I both had the hamburgers which were tasty and cooked to perfection. The chili was fabulous, but the best were the house brewed root beer floats. The smaller versions were a great size to accompany our filling food. The service was friendly and quick, the bathrooms were clean and so was the restaurant. Next time we will try the Drive-in experience but today, we had to meet the Jerry, who lives up to his friendly reputation! Thanks for the yummy food! read more

I love this place for a couple reasons. breakfast, milk shakes, awesome onion rings, and burgers are awesome. I get my burgers here with pink because I ask for it that way, but they will cook it as done as u want. some things I don't like. the charge for ranch, all dinner items are fake and salty like it's all pre packaged. huge portions though. salads are bagged lettuce and usually are kinda brppownish. service is hit or miss , Idk it used to be good but they rotate staff a lot cause they hire high school girls so if u come back later your experience changes. don't like how they ask about ur tip at register. it's rude and extremely awkward for patrons. I would really like them to do away with that. but burgers are amazing and I will always come back for them. read more

I have been a patron of Fins since the mid sixties. Originally an A & W drive in, the food has always been good, especially the burgers & fries.... however, some days the breakfast portions are extremely small... and most recently, the food was served cold... it was a disappointing experience of what has been for the most part, my go to place for breakfast. My most recent visit was, at best, dismal and practically depressing...especially after the food was served COLD. On a positive note, the energetic and diligent servers are always friendly and cheerful and quick to anticipate my needs... Best cook is Paulie... always fair sized portions of food, prepared to perfection and served HOT. She does it right, and shows Pride in her work... Ben... not so much.... he seems unmotivated. read more

The good stuff: The dining room was generally clean and the decor had a classic old school diner vibe. The coffee was fresh and not burnt tasting. The service staff was very nice and did their best to keep ours and other diners' cups full. The bad stuff: Our order took a good 50 minutes to make and we were one of the only people in there when the ticket got to the kitchen. I ordered a lightly toasted club sandwich and received essentially a halved ham sandwich swimming in mayonnaise that wasn't toasted at all. My soup tasted burnt and my replacement salad had slimy pieces in it. My friends BLT was very clearly only toasted on one side of the bread and my other friend's grilled cheese was also just barely toasted enough to melt the cheese in it. Zero QC from the wait staff who saw how bad our order looked and still brought it out. I'm hoping I just caught them on a bad day. Might give them another chance someday but not anytime soon. read more

As a kid I really liked fins. Now as an adult I think it's just okay. Last couple times I've been there I have had painfully slow service. And the food is just mediocre and expensive! Shake and onion rings were good (but overpriced) and burger was alright. I couldn't believe the burger meals that were already pretty expensive don't come with a drink.
