We dined here this evening and really enjoyed our experience. Even without a reservation on a Saturday night, the staff managed to fit our party of three in for a lovely dinner. The entrées were excellent. We had the Penne alla Sergio with chicken and Italian sausage, and the NY Strip with a gorgonzola crust. Both were delicious. We were there on a Friday evening celebrating a birthday with a very large group (approximately 20 people). Service was very good considering the logistical difficulties posed by such a large assemblage. But we were disappointed at the pathetically small bread trays brought out--just two tiny plates with a few tawdry slices of bread. The ambiance is nice but it can get extremely loud with all the large tables, so I wore earplugs to save my hearing. Fortunately our meals came out soon enough and everyone seemed to enjoy their selections. One of my metrics in Italian restaurants is Saltimbocca Alla Romana and theirs featured the tenderest veal I've ever had. The flavor was subtle but in sum it was excellent. My wife's simple ravioli with marinara was superb. We didn't order any appetizers or desserts because we had an after-dinner show to attend. read more

I'd give this restaurant a 3.5, for one particular reason. I'll start by saying the service was excellent. Our waiter, Will, was friendly, accommodating, and attentive. The drinks were good, and appetizers (mussels) were tender and delicious. I ordered shrimp and "scallops" Dominica. The dish, overall, was tasty, perfectly al dente pasta. BUT, the scallops were rubbery, and an odd color. I literally needed a knife to cut the scallop. I mentioned to our server, and he immediately went to the kitchen. He brought me freshly seared "scallops", which were better, but still not tender as a fresh scallop should be. He proceeded to tell me that while the product was 'mostly scallop', they were actually a mix of whitefish and scallop meat cut into scallop shaped pieces- so not actually Scallops. I'm not sure a restaurant should be able to sell fake scallops without being transparent. Overall, a nice meal, but don't order scallops...unless you don't mind paying for (and eating) an imposter. read more

There's something for everyone on the menu and you can get a solid cocktail, which should be the norm but often is not. Bartenders and waitresses provide good service. This was easily the worst restaurant experience my family has had. As a Black family hosting a party of 21, we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. The waitresses lacked professionalism and showed no warmth or effort to provide good service. On top of that, the food was extremely plain for the price. Terrible service and an overall negative experience. This restaurant completely ruined my aunt's 65th birthday celebration. Had dinner for 4 , to quietly celebrate our wedding. Has a Caesar salad that had dressing so watered down you could not taste it. I ordered Fra diablo that was horrible. Hardly any seafood in it, and what seafood was in there was so small it was a joke. My wife had surf and turf that was totally over cooked and hard to enjoy. The couple who joined us had a few issues also, The cost was 300.00 for dinner and I choked on that bill... I'm shocked to see a lower rating than this place deserves! In addition to being one of the nicer restaurants in the area, the food is delicious. Never had a bad meal, I love the mussels! We came here for my dad's birthday, and the service was atrocious. Our server Oscar gave us no attention for the whole meal, focusing on the other tables. He didn't substitute mashed potatoes on a dish that we requested, we had to ask multiple times for our soda, and we asked for more peppers for our bread and that never came. We had to flag him down to even give him the bill to check us out. He was MIA for most of our meal.  The WORST part was we told him it was my dad's birthday, and he put the birthday candle on the wrong dessert. When we told him it was the wrong person, he just said "oh" and walked away. We could 100% tell that he was focusing on bigger tables, hoping for a bigger tip. We hosted a luncheon reception here after my first grandson's baptism. I am SO HAPPY we picked this restaurant! First of all, as soon as I filled out the inquiry online, I got an follow-up call from Domenica almost immediately. That's impressive, and she was so friendly and helpful! We picked the classic luncheon menu with wine service. The food was EXCELLENT! We had a nice large section in a comfortable, private room which was also shared by a happy bridal shower party on the far opposite side. That was not even an issue as there was more than enough space. First, the appetizers were awesome: a few generous platters of antipasti and my favorite (first time trying this) roasted pepper! OMG I could've eaten the WHOLE BOWL and then some. The Italian bread at the table was a perfect addition for that too, by the way. Anyway, everyone who picked their particular meal was very happy and loved it! My choice was the salmon and risotto with vegetables and I can't tell you how perfect it was. I was worried that it might be overcooked but it was EXCELLENT!!!! Everyone ate voraciously and our waitstaff was the BEST! They were welcoming and on point with serving us professionally and cordially. This restaurant was very, very good and no doubt we will be back here. Came here for a rehearsal dinner so was a large groups of is. The server we had was not very organized but will give the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was because he was flustered with such a large group. Although we gave our orders well before our visit food still took time to come. Once it arrives potion sizes were very small especially for an Italian place where typically it's generous. For example the piece of cheesecake was as if you cut a slice then cut that slice in half again. The food was just ok. I like the risotto but everything else was just ok. read more

My grandson went to the Filomena at the Berlin location. There was a misunderstanding about the gift card that was being used towards the bill . They didn't handle in professional or business manner. They were disrespectful for bias reasons . It was embarrassing, and demeaning. There was no reason for them to handle that situation in way that did that was a negative response to the situation that never should have happened . My grandson is a very responsible, gentleman, and hard-working person. He thought he was taking his girlfriend out on Valentines Day which he thought was a nice place and he's been there before and enjoys the food and the atmosphere .. First time at this location, that Ive been wanting to try for some time now. The same excellent roasted peppers & bread is served complimentary here - yay & yum! My Chicken Françoise entree was succulent! I had a penne side, replacing the cappellini that it is normally served with (I don't fancy spaghetti or long pasta in general). Cooked perfectly aldente. Joey had a crab cake entree - it was served with a rice cooked with spring vegetables. Another excellent! We enjoyed THE BOURBON BROTHERS with live tunes while we sat on the nice, cozy, patio. We upgraded to Caesar salads and the dressing just tasted like water mixed with pepper and our server initially forgot our croutons, so we had to add them to our salads and ended up with like 2 croutons each. The chicken Helena had no flavor it just tasted like water and chicken and the chicken was slightly chewy. The service was good, but the food was subpar. Came for Mother's Day weekend. They are now serving indoor dining. We were offered dinner and lunch menu for a party of 14! No easy feat. Server (Juan) was SO kind even with everyone talking over each other and changing their minds on orders. Appetizer sampler was fantastic. Bruschetta was delicious. Calamari was perfect. Antipasto plate was good but the eggplant was bitter? French onion soup was HEARTY and loaded with cheese and onions. Split pea soup was thick and rich. Husband likes it with a splash of lemon. I had the Adriatic salad; it was fun and flavorful and bright. Steaks (TEN of them) were cooked to the right temperature but lacking in seasoning? I didn't get a chance to ask the other guests about their entrees, however... but I didn't hear complaints. Would love to come again to try more dishes! read more

We asked for more bread to go along with the oil and peppers. Instead of just bringing a new plate back with some additional bread, the waitress took the whole plate and returned several minutes later with bread on it. It was our original plate. It was just very odd. We both ordered off the $28/person menu. Person I was with said the calamari was chewy. Would not order it again. I had the clams casino, and it was just okay. The soup was pretty good and the house salad was plain and simple. Both of our dinners were OK, but nothing to write home about. I have been coming to Filomena Cucina for years! We held our Rehearsal Dinner here as well in 2017. Everything , every time the food has always been on point! Never a problem! I highly recommend the Braciole! The best around! Also highly recommend Chicken Francese, so flavorful with lemon butter sauce! Top off your night with a delicious Cream Brûlée! Filomena's Berlin is the WORST. You can know the owners, yet still get served dog food. Christmas Eve when you want chicken parm with vodka sauce vs marinara (gravy) make it happen, yet they didn't (no substitutions). Clearly they had their F talent on staff this Christmas Eve which I guess I can understand. Tasted like dog food and I would not recommend after this experience to go to ANY of the Filomena's locations (including the waterfront). You're supposed to give white glove service, especially on the holidays - not dog food and dog poop service. If anyone wants to debate me, please try but I know we all would feel the same way. My family and I got dinner at Filomena's at the Berlin location. We had dinner here previously and had a great experience with the food and staff. Unfortunately, tonight, we had a terrible experience. First of all, one of the dishes we ordered was the Linguine with clams. Compared to previous times, the portion size was much smaller, almost 1/3 compared to before. We did not mention this to our waitress at first because we did not want to make it a big deal as we enjoyed coming to this restaurant. However, our second issue regarding the bill really disappointed my family and myself. We ordered the penne alla vodka pasta dish and added chicken to it. The menu did not specifically indicate the upcharge for chicken, only crab meat (+6, total 25). However, on another dish, the fettucine alfredo, it says that the chicken was an additional $4. So I assumed that the upcharge would be $4 for penne alla vodka as well. The waitress did not mention anything when I ordered this. Then when the bill comes, as we reviewed the bill, we noticed that we were charged +6 for crab. We questioned our waitress about this and said we ordered chicken and not crab. She spoke with the owner (the brown-haired woman who stood at the front desk) and the waitress relayed the message from the owner that chicken is now +6 because crab is now +11 (total 30). This was in no way communicated to us prior. Also, the owner was confusing because she mentioned that crab prices increased, but also that they were not selling crab. The whole crab/chicken thing just did not make sense and it raised concern. We ended up paying the bill as is. On our way out, we wanted to confirm the menu prices. We spoke to the owner directly and she was curt, unprofessional, rude, and overall, very unpleasant to interact with. We were extremely disappointed with how the situation was handled as the owner did not own up to the lie that was relayed to us from the waitress and also restated to us face to face. It had nothing to do with the $2/3 mischarge, it had to do with the disrespectful attitude and blatant lies about crab and the recent upcharge. If that were the truth, it should have been communicated when we ordered and reflected on their menu. Simply put (while I know this was still a long review), this could have all been avoided if the menu was accurate and the staff relayed any changes on the menu. It did not have to result in a conversation/argument with the owner at the front, which also should have been diffused. Overall, we did not receive any apology from the owner. It's unfortunate to hear this wasn't the first time and most likely will not be the last. read more

Service for appetizers was strange, they ran out halfway through serving them, and the rest of the people had to wait, you'd think they would have made enough. They knew how many people were coming.
