We were in the Hershey area for less than 24 hours and tried to find a great place for breakfast. Another place had a 45-minute wait (on a Saturday), so we went to Plan B. Found this charmer! The three of us sat at the counter (great decision, as we didn't have to wait for a table). We not only had a fabulous breakfast meal, but wonderful exchanges with the entire staff -- such great folks all around! The food is spectacular! I read the Yelp reviews and we decided to try the Filling Station. Each review was spot on. The restaurant is small and inviting. We were there at 4 pm and got a table with no problem. I can understand how people would be willing to wait for a table when they are busy though. My friend ordered liver and mashed potatoes. The happily gave her extra onions and gravy. I ordered a chicken salad in a taco shell. My was huge, filled with crisp lettuce, grilled vegetables and juicy chicken. I live two hours away but this will on my list of top restaurants to visit on my next trip to Hershey. read more

Very nice local mom and pop shop close enough to Hersey Pa while visiting Chocolate World. Very busy on a Thursday morning no tables available so we made do with sitting at the breakfast bar. Service was pretty quick even with it being a full house and two people working the floor. Food was on point. I personally ate the cheeseburger omelette and that hit the spot. Kids got pancakes and sausage , the other kid got strawberry pancakes and the other half got an everything bagel with jelly and crème cheese. Let's not to forget to mention they have a donut shop inside home made. Wow....and that's like a hit all by itself. Numerous people just coming in for a dozen donuts. Definitely a place to check out. What a great little spot! This is a cute little diner. I went around 10:00 on a Friday morning. I wasn't expecting it to be packed and having to wait for a table. But - I know that's a sign the food must be good, so I was happy to wait to try this place out! I got one of their specialty pancakes. YUM! I also ordered a side of bacon (cause why not?!) And enjoyed a cup of Lipton hot tea with my meal (a very diner type of tea!) I very much enjoyed my food. We'll be back to try other items on the menu. And to snag some donuts- we were too late to get any this time. It appears that the donuts sell out quickly. They must be really good! The people working there were all very nice too. Eh, it was okay. My coworker and I visited for lunch. This is a popular place with locals and is usually crowded and today was no different. We both got breakfast including chocolate chip pancakes and omelets. My toast was dry and dark just like I asked. Our omelets were both ordered "fluffy" rather than folded. The omelets were large but mine was lacking in flavor even though it was full of ingredients like peppers, onions, and ham. My coworker said her home fries were nearly raw which seemed surprising since they seemed to have an attractive brown color to them. And she complained that her chocolate chip pancake was overcooked. In fact, I could see the scorched chocolate chips in mine but they didn't bother me because I like everything slightly overdone versus underdone. Overall, I'd probably leave 3.5 stars and coworker would say 3 so 3 stars for us. I've gone before and will go again because it's fast and the food's pretty good but neither of us lived our meals. read more

This is the kind of place you see in the movies of the cliche diner. Nothing fancy at all. Everything here is very reasonably priced and delicous. There are literal advertisements on the coffee mugs from other local businesses. Service here is old school excellent. This is my second time here because I am an out of towner and in the area there are many other fancier places you could go but none like this true American blue collar old fashioned side of the road classic. My one issue is the creamers for the coffee. Stop with those coffemate pods and just supply the real stuff. When paying the bill I saw a wall of donuts and got a coconut cream pie donut and to be honest I live about 2 hours away I would drive here just for that. If you want fancy gourmet go somewhere else if you want no BS great home cooking this is your place. I'm not sure how long this place has been around but it feels like it's got soul. Except nobody mentioned even being upset or asked why. She wasn't wearing a name tag, but was tall and had gauged earlobes. We've been in the Hershey area for a couple of days now and we have tried to spread our $$ around to several of the local places. Gotta eat where the locals eat! The Filling Station had been recommended to us so we stopped on our way to our hotel after a day in Lancaster. This is a classic looking diner on the inside with a long counter and tables and booths on the perimeter. Outside it was clearly an old gas station. We had eaten a big lunch (see review for Dienner's) and weren't super hungry, but needed something. I stuck to my gastro-guns and ordered the chef salad. Hubs ordered the grilled crab cakes, even tho he complained all afternoon about how full he was. Let's start with the salad. It. Was. Huge. It betrayed me!! Served in a large bowl, it had 2 boiled eggs and easily a pound of meat between the sliced turkey breast (not deli) and the sliced deli ham. I took some of it off to make a sandwich for tomorrow. The hot bacon dressing is a must. It probably cancelled out any calorie savings the salad gave me, but it was worth it. The crab cakes were large and delicious. They were cooked on the flat grill rather being deep fried. Not a lot of filler, good flavor. It came with 2 sides. He ordered a side salad and the cucumber salad. Both were good choices. So what would you expect that total to be? Crab cake plate (2 large crab cakes + 2 sides) and a chef salad as huge as Milton Hershey's head? Most places you'll pay $30 just for the crab cakes. Our total was $24! We only had water, so that helped, but it was by far the cheapest meal we've had this trip. Our server was sweet and helped us make our choices. We overhead other servers having conversations with guests that let us know it was clearly a local hang out where everybody knows your name. We stayed in the area the night before to enjoy Troeg's brewery and decided to have our breakfast at the Filling Station. We loved the atmosphere, the service, and the food. When we came, on a Sunday morning around 7:30, the place was filled with lively chatter from local residents. It was hopping but our waitress took our order promptly and the food came pretty fast considering the crowd. It is a small place and the breakfast offerings were plenty with traditional items and some unique items. My husband got the sausage and gravy biscuits and I got an omelet. Both orders were big and tasty. I ended up taking half of mine with me and enjoying it the next day. This is a great mom and pop place with good coffee and we will definitely come back when staying the in the area. read more

What a neat place! I had to be in Hershey and had time to find a place for brunch. This is just a few miles up the road and had such good reviews here on Yelp. I will add mine! Alicia, the server was very friendly. She asked what I wanted and I told her decaf and that I couldn't decide between breakfast and lunch. She suggested I look at the special omelettes. And they did look good! I decided on the southern filled with grilled chicken, cheese, onions and bacon. No calories, right??? They serve their omelette traditional. Or fluffy. Nice to have the choice, I'm a traditionalist and it was delicious. It is served with toast and I would have loved if it had come with potatoes, but, 3 eggs makes a pretty large omelette, so I didn't order anything with it. Since it was after 1:00 I decided I needed something else and the dessert menu said 'ask about our homemade specials' I didn't have to ask because when Alicia refilled my decaf the second time she asked if was thinking about dessert. They didn't have rice pudding when I asked she suggested tiramisu. It was really great! Heavy cream filling and whipped cream! I loved it. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot out front and additional parking out back as well. There is no outdoor seating. Menu has a lot of variety of savory and sweet options. I got two Oreo pancakes. The pancakes were very large and I could've gotten away with just ordering one pancake. My friend got a combination special with French toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon.
