Figlio has great pasta dishes, health(ier) flat-bread pizza (w/o all the crazy crust on a typical pizza hut pie), a descent wine selection, and a nicely equipped bar. They have a few signature cocktails that are pretty good as well. I don't think you can go wrong if you're looking for a really good dinner out as to food and drinks. If you have a large group, they have a small room way in the back to accommodate you. We last went with a group of 12 and sat at one table, comfortably. The cool thing was, we actually got quite a bit of privacy due to the room in the back, which only seats two large tables & that's it. The downsides are two-fold... First, it's a little noisy if you're heading out for a romantic date. Secondly, if you want to get your "typical" privacy setting for that romantic date, I'd HIGHLY recommend calling in advance for reservations - and to ask for a table with some privacy. The tables here are super closer together (think "the worst seats at Cheesecake Factory), and you'll feel like you're sitting right next to a stranger who can hear every word of your conversation (esp, considering how loud you have to speak to be heard). Again, I can't reiterate how good the food/drinks are here... just come prepared in advance for what kind of experience you expect - and if you're planning on a more private dinner, be sure to call in advance. read more

Decent food and service. I ordered their Salmon with linguine. The pasta was deliciously and so was the Salmon. Nice ambiance and it was decently priced (15$ for a typical entree). This is one of the spots you go to, and take out of town friends to, that you know will always deliver. The food is good, really good. And consistently so. Obviously the pizza is where you want to go. I swear, even if they gave me that crust with no toppings I would gobble it up! Tip: if you can, go during happy hour. They have happy hour pizzas for just $5 so it's fun to get a few to try! My favorite is the Italian prosciutto! I also always get their Caesar salad (they do this classic dish RIGHT) and the house red wine is usually good pick. Why is this not 5 stars? The atmosphere. I have been here few times in 3 years and at least 6 months apart in between each visit, all I experienced was quality food and wine each time with exceptional customer service. For everybody there is its favorite restaurant to go for every chance it gets, this place would be mine if I lived close to Grandview. Wood-fire pizza and main entrees I tried are amazing but not so much for salads. Wine selections are good especially Alexander Valley Vineyards Cabernet... OK, the place is a little cramped, but it feels more cosmopolitan than most Columbus joints. Friendly staff, spot on service, clean but not sterile, & great atmosphere. The place is one step short of amazing. It has pretty terrific food, I wanted something other than pizza and was only able to eliminate four dishes of the twenty or so. Finally just guessed on one: homemade crab ravioli with a spicy creamy tomato sauce. Wife went with the 'plus plus' pizza, that was good (but not great). One could argue, that dropping close to $100 for three of us is a little steep, but it really was almost perfect. The food was fresh & flavorful but just was not OMG amazing; it may have been just a personal preference on three menu choice. I couldn't point to one thing i would suggest to make it better, but it just had a little something that's hard to put into words that kept it one step from perfection. Has Figlio been sold? Worst experience ever. Starting with the host/manager that seated us who was an ass! No smile, no responses, and walked so far ahead of us that we lost him. Out of bread and salad. The salad we got was warm lettuce and a crouton. After 1 hour and 20 minutes our entrees came and were so heavily spiced that there was no flavor. Dessert? This place is packed TIGHT in there but its a very warm, vibrant spot to enjoy a meal and your company. Not a real date place though. It was LOUD. Lots of groups all fighting for ear space. I kind of dug that. We had a party of four so we worked for our own speaking-realty. Food was good all-around as well as the drinks. Desert and coffee also pleasant. Really great food. Menu offers good selection without being a novel. Although tempted by some of the more creative pizza offerings, I went for the drunken shrimp with vodka penne. Plenty of heat in a portion size appropriate with pasta. Nice mix of flavors. While I'd like to try other menu items, I can't say I won't look past this on the next visit. The atmosphere was nice but I'd have to come back to try the food again -- most likely the pizza, as mine wasn't the greatest. The pre-dinner bread was interesting: they have so many delicious herbs in the olive oil which lends it an extra kick. I got the Peter and Laurie's Favorite Pizza which sounded promising but was under-seasoned and little to no sauce :( a few other people in my party got the pasta dishes which looked great, and my friend got the truffled mushroom which was lovely so it might've just been me. This should probably be a 3 and a half star rating but they don't let you do this. Went for Restaurant Week. First visit in a while. Had reservations and were promptly seated. Let me say this, the service as excellent. The staff is very young but pleasant. Not in that "I'm Wendy, your waitress, and everything here is A-MAZ-ING" way but efficient, professional and just nice. The place filled up quickly and the noise level was very high but not Cameron Mitchell-place high. All in all the atmosphere was very pleasant. The food was good, too. Not great. Good. I went with the restaurant week menu. The crab and corn chowder, in a cup that could have served as a shot glass, was tasty. Good, even though there was no discernible crab in it. However, with such a small portion (so small it was served with a teaspoon, not a soup spoon. A soup spoon would not have fit in the cup) that it just may have not been scooped up. Also, the menu did not mention it being spicy, but it was (more on this later). My entree of chicken with roasted red pepper cream sauce was good, a cut above Brio/Bravo. The flavors worked well but the linguine it was placed over was bland and boring. Also, it was, without being mentioned, a bit spicy. I like food that is spicy hot. My wife cannot eat it. Everyone now seems to think that you add interest to a dish by adding heat. That is simply not true and it is doubly not true in most southern European cuisines. And not everyone does spicy well. It should be noted on the menu. It would save a lot of ordering mistakes. My chocolate silk pie was very good. My wife's Greek pizza (she ordered a la carte) was dry. The flavors were OK but it was not interesting enough to take home what was left. The three other diners had about the same experience. One, who has spent a lot of time in Italy, declared that his bolognese sauce was not at all authentic, but was good. All in all, worth going to and worth going back. I finally caved in to trying Figlio after hearing SecondMom rave about the place over and over. So I find myself at Figlio one breezy Saturday evening with SecondMom and her sister. I was surprised at how small the restaurant was (or rather how busy it was seeing how it was only 5pm.) In fact, they had to open up Vino Vino next door to seat the growing line by the door. Because Figlio was known for its wood fired pizzas, I settled with the goat cheese pizza. Goat cheese and bacon sounded heavenly at the time. I was somewhat disappointed when I bit into the pizza. While it looked delicious, it was far from tasting that way. In fact, it was a bit bland mostly due to their sparing on cheese. Both SecondMom and her sister ordered the Basil Chicken with Feta pasta. Apparently it was THE dish for SecondMom since that's the only thing she gets there. It was imperative that I try a little bit to see if it was actually that great. My pizza paled in comparison to the pasta dish, and I think it was due to the basil pesto sauce done right. (Then again, I'm probably not the person to critique on pasta dishes since I hardly order pastas at restaurants.) The dessert menu was not all that impressive. Figlio owners made the claim that their tiramisu was imported from New York. Had SecondMom not bought desserts from The French Loaf, that would have been my dessert. read more

Ate a pizza here last night. It was good, but not great. The prices here were pretty reasonable though, so you are getting a fair deal I think. Had a glass of pinot noir and cabernet sauvignon. They were both about the same price, but the cabernet was noticeably better. The pinot, well they need to just breakdown and charge more and open something good rather than something merely tolerable. If I ever run into Paul Giamati, I think I am going to punch him in the face for getting all these people drinking my pinot and fucking things up for me. The food is good for the price. We had a 7:00 reservation and were not seated until 7:40. I can understanding having to wait 15 minutes but this was not acceptable. It appeared other people without reservations who were in line were being seated first in the main dining room. When we were finally seated we were taken to a back ugly brown room, behind the bathrooms, that appeared to be for large parties. We were only a party of three! The staff was nice but that did not make up for the bad experience we had. We will not be back as there are plenty of other good restaurants in Columbus. read more

Figlio is always a solid choice and a cool date spot. I enjoy the intimate (some might say "crowded") atmosphere. The wine selection is decent. And with the exception of a somewhat bland Bolognese pasta I had once, I enjoy the food. So why only 3 stars? The menu is limited and static. Pizza, pasta, or salad, plus (admittedly delicious) bread and olive oil at the beginning. These are your only choices, so if you're on Atkins, Sugar Busters, or just generally trying to avoid carbs, this place isn't for you. There are no appetizers. Finally, the menu is static; it doesn't change much at all from season to season. Again, I like this place, and it might seem silly to dock points by pointing out everything this restaurant isn't (especially when sister restaurant Vino Vino is next door with a more varietal menu). But if Figlio would only add a few apps and a meat entree or two (brick oven chicken or porchetta, anyone?), I'd find myself going there more often. read more

My favorite place to eat out. It's not the largest place but once you are seated, you barely notice. Nice wine selection. My last meal on earth, if I had to plan it, would be the mushroom ravioli. Chicken, asparagus, sun dried tomatoes in the most heavenly cream sauce. It is so fantastic. I also get the balsalmic salad. I would buy the salad dressing if I could. Had a horrible experience so far at figlio grandview. Had a reservation for 8 pm. we were constantly told that our table was about to be ready. We were later seated at the adjacent restaurant "Vino Vino" 50 mins later. Unfortunately this was not uneventful either. We were first seated at a table that clearly did not have enough seats to seat our party, later moved to a table that could seat our party. This was absolutely atrocious service by the hostess. I understand sometimes things can get backed up, but is honesty too much to ask? Also what is the point of a reservation when you are treated like a walkin. Our waitress was very very courteous and made an effort to ensure that our experience was good past the horrible initial experience. She checked in on us regularly and updated us on the staus of our order. The food was as good as advertised and was brought to us on time. The current hostess & manager need a lesson in customer service. I am not sure, I will ever come back to figlio grandview. The manager, never even approached us and apologized for the horrible experience we had been put through or made it up to us in any way. read more

Making reservations for Figlio during restaurant week was the worst decision I have ever made! We had reservations at 7:30 last night and the evening started off with a short delay getting to our table. Once we got to our table it took a while for our waitress to come and check in with us to take our drink order, once she came back with our drinks she informed us that they were out of bread and that they had run out of most dishes on the restaurant week menu. She first mentioned they were out of the salad I wanted and gave me basically lettuce with 4 croutons; it was a disgrace. Then my bf got a watered down soup that was so spicy he barely ate any of it. Then finally dessert, which they informed us they were out of creams brûlée but could offer us tiramisu, and then came back and said they were out of that, so they substituted it for chocolate mousse instead. Meanwhile, we saw bread and tiramisu being served to others. Overall, we were not expecting a two-hour meal with poor service and substitutions for what we wanted. We understand that it is a busy time for the restaurant but it's not the first time they have participated in restaurant week and even with all the substitutions we weren't offered any sort of concession. The food itself (main entrees) were awesome but the entire evening was ruined and I will NEVER go back during restaurant week, ever. read more

Solid! My husband and I dined at Figlio last night for my birthday. We were greeted and seated promptly, the service was attentive, but not overly, and the pizzas were outstanding. We had a Margarita plus-plus (they put avocado on after it comes out of the oven) on a whole wheat crust--it was crunchy and perfect--and a build-your-own with spinach and mushrooms. The sauce was so fresh and the ingredients all carefully chosen. We split a beautiful raspberry creme brûlée and with two Chianti's the bill came to around $50. Oh how we wanted to love this place especially given all of the reviews. I think we're just not "wood fired pizza" people. We got the Classic and they left off the pepperoni for some reason. (The only part I actually wanted) We also split a bourbon chicken pizza and we were lucky to get one small chunk of chicken per slice! It was the tastier of the two but no impressive. Honestly, I make better at home on naan bread. Thankfully we bought one of those Dine Originals certificates so we paid less than we normally would've. The staff was nice, the ambience was fine and yes, it is cramped in there depending on where you sit. We got a slice of the red velvet cake and some ice cream torte. Figlio is pretty good, and they have a wonderful wine selection. I was super impressed with the food, and the olive oil/cheese/spices combo to accompany our bread bowl kept the table guessing as to what was included. Whatever it was, it was fantastic. Let me start off by saying this is a biased review. Two years ago I met a girl there that later became my wife, so there is a soft spot in my heart for Figlio. That being said, the food is great. Tonight, I went there intent on ordering the same pizza that I had the night I met her...but it wasn't on the menu. It was a Kung Pao Shrimp pizza...not a normal dish...but they made it for me anyway and it was great. When a restaurant goes above and beyond to make your night special, that's a big plus. The GM let me in the place 3 hours before they opened too, so I could pick out our "first date" table. If you are a local...you know all about Figlio, if yourr visiting, check it out, you'll love it. It's a small place though, tables are tight. You've been warned. read more
