We visited on a Sunday afternoon and found the atmosphere a bit jarring. The music was incredibly loud and shifted randomly from children's show themes to early 2000s hip-hop, which made for a confusing vibe. The service was also quite hands-off; the young staff seemed more focused on chatting with each other than attending to tables. As for the food, the Stromboli and the Chicken Caesar sandwich special were both delicious highlights. However, the Chicken Parm was surprisingly bland--I'd likely skip their pasta dishes next time. So much potential, but mediocre food at best. Came in on a Wednesday night for dinner and joined two old timers at the bar. I hadn't intended on having a bourbon to start, but their selection was top shelf, so I had a nice Eagle Rare. They also have Blanton's Gold, but I didn't want to shell out the $40 for a shot. Started with the fried pickles. They were wedges, which is good, and very crisp. They sprinkled Parmesan cheese over the top which was a nice touch, but I'm not sure they breaded them in house. Had the chicken parm for dinner, which they called something else. It was your standard breaded and fried chicken with marinara and mozzarella on top, but rather than served over pasta in a red sauce, it was served over pasta in a fettuccini sauce. Interesting idea, but not that good. The chicken may have been breaded and frozen, and the fettuccini sauce on the spaghetti was damn near non existent. Also, the pasta on the surface of the plate was drying up, like it had sat under a heat lamp on the plate waiting for the chicken to finish cooking. The whole dish was very bland, even with crushed red pepper. My daughter had the veggie Stromboli, which she really liked. I found the crust to be home made but the flavor to also be a bit bland. May have been due to no meat in it. The service was fast, as we were the only ones eating at the time. Everyone was friendly, but the staff seemed more interested in socializing amongst themselves than entertaining their customers. If it hadn't been for the bourbon, they would have only got 2 stars. read more

I grew up on their Stromboli (i recommend OG Stromboli and add banana peppers). With this new pizza dough and sauce they have, I now have a decision to make every time I come. I have driven by Carsonie's often but never had the opportunity to go. I am glad an opportunity arose to try it out. I made a reservation. We were seated right away. The staff was great, they were prompt and our food came out quickly. We ordered peach bellinis and margarites, the bruchetta, and the chicken basil pasta. It was all delicious and recommended. If you need to know anything before coming here, it should be that it takes about 30-45 minutes to make the stromboli (no matter what you get inside them). The menu does explain this, so it's no secret! There are some tasty appetizers though that come out relatively quickly, and the serving sizes are pretty generous. When we first arrived here, there was no one at the hostess stand -- though we did come lunchtime on a Thursday so that may explain it. We had to wait for about five minutes before even seeing an employee. After that, though, we were seated and waited on very quickly. There was only one or two servers, but we were never forgotten about, and our drinks were refilled regularly. We ended up getting two small stromboli. Normally, we get one large one to split, but since we both wanted different 'toppings' (for lack of a better word), we got two smalls. I will say I was still a bit hungry after mine, something I usually don't feel after splitting the large. It was just a little disappointing to wait that long for it to come out and still feel partially hungry. Overall, this is a tasty place, and it has a stellar environment. The Stromboli is a home run but the pizza is a miss. I'm use to PA Stromboli which is way different but this was excellent. That being said, it's very much an OK place to eat. I ordered takeout and my order was ready in a little less than 10 minutes. The food was fine. It tasted like something I could have made at home myself. I don't think I could recommend what I ordered but it seems this place is known for their Stromboli. Perhaps that's good? Yummy Stromboli, we got the large and had plenty to take home. Crust was nicely golden brown and inside was filled with plenty of cheese, sausage, and pepperoni. We also got the calamari, thick breaded and cooked crispy and sprinkled with red pepper and baked banana peppers, comes with marinara sause with feta cheese. I've had Carsonie's on my list of restaurants to try for a while. I'm always on the hunt for some old school Italian food. Once I saw Italian Fries on their menu, I knew I was in for a treat since I've only seen those on menus in Youngstown. The food was great, if not simply classic. The Italian fries are basically just fried pieces of dough tossed in herbs and Parmesan cheese. If you've never had them, you're missing out! I'm not sure why more places don't do this. I got the Chicken Carsonie - basically chicken parm but served with pasta Alfredo. The chicken was moist and the breading was super crisp. My mom got the Cranberry Walnut Grilled Chicken Salad and said it was good and the dressing was perfect. Since it was my mom's birthday they also gave us a funnel cake (more fried dough but sprinkled with cinnamon sugar this time) which smelled amazing. Overall it was a really good experience. I have been a fan of Carsonie's Stromboli's for a long time. I haven't gotten one in the last 2-3 years and decided to get delivery from Grubhub. Delivery is a little long but it takes time to make an amazing Stromboli so realistically 50 minutes is completely reasonable. Plus it's still a good temperature when it arrived and was packaged neatly. Not surprisingly the Stromboli's are still amazing! The dough is delicious, fresh and both crunchy and chewy. Toppings are fresh and high quality, the pepperoni and sausage are wonderful. The cheese plentiful but not excessive and is melty and delicious. I had an enjoyable lunch with coworkers here. The restaurant is old school Italian dim, with lots of booths - always a plus by me. I really liked that the veggie options had some variety. My veggie Stromboli had artichoke hearts, onion, olives, and red pepper, and lots of cheese! I didn't finish a small, and our server brought me extra sauce in the takeout box, which was really thoughtful. The Stromboli reheated well in the toaster oven, too. The garlic cheese bread was crunchy, garlicky and cheesy, so full marks! This was a very good first time experience at Carsonie's! They have one entrance for the dining room and another entrance a little ways down for to go orders. Inside, the dining room is warm and cozy and decorated with all kinds of sports memorabilia, family photos, and lots of other unique and cool items. There is both booth and table seating as well as a decent-sized bar. The tables have red and white coverings giving it a very Italian feeling inside. The staff seemed very enthusiastic and friendly! I opted for the classic stromboli (small size). Wow, it was good! The crust was wonderfully tasty and not too bready or heavy. It had a good amount of cheese, pepperoni, and sausage inside. The accompanying marina sauce had a very bright tomato taste but wasn't particularly rich or complex and didn't seem like it had a ton of effort put into it. For dessert we opted for the tiramisu. Excellent! The interior was ever so slightly frozen, but overall the dessert was an excellent mix of sweetness, cream, and coffee flavors. This is the best stromboli!! I usually get the original, but you can customize it if you'd like. There's just enough gooey cheese, the perfect amount of sausage and pepperoni, and an amazing crunch to the exterior dough. The small stromboli is a good shareable for two people, or a meal for one person. It comes with a delicious dipping sauce - I think next time I'll order extra because it's that good! The staff here is also amazing and does a wonderful job in explaining the whole menu, what you can expect, and letting you have a great experience! My family and I went in for an early dinner when visiting Ohio. We got a couple salads to share and a large original Stromboli. The salads came out first and were huge. We got two salads among 4 people and we had plenty. We got the Chopped Salad and a Large House Salad. The plates were huge and the fresh ingredients were awesome. For the chopped salad it comes with the house vinaigrette mixed in and it is a little on the sweet side. Next came the star which was a large original stromboli. I tried stopping my father from grabbing a piece so I could take a picture, but I was unsuccessful. The stromboli was plenty of food for 4 people and the filling was great. It came filled with sausage, pepperoni, and cheese. The topping inside were great and the crust was awesome. The sauce was really good as well. Overall a great dining experience here.
