Honestly this place kinda took me by surprise lol. Wasn't expecting much as there's so many boba spots in the city now and I thought this was another one just in union sq... Nice minimal decor for the interior and looks generally new. The drink we had (forgot what it was but it had pistachio) was good and had the perfect among of brown sugar boba and pistachio cream. Will def be back to try their other drinks whenever I'm in the area!

Delicious find near Union Market! Stopped by 50 Lan Boba Tea on a Saturday afternoon after visiting the farmers market and I'm so glad I did. The staff recommended 50% sugar and less ice, and it was the perfect call - the lychee milk tea was flavorful without being overpowering. Great fruity taste without being too sweet. But the real star was the golden boba - it was chewy and added a fun bite and texture to the drink. Highly recommend!

The staff was very patient and answered all of my questions patiently. Then she recommended: Caramel Green tea latte and whatever else they can add flavors in it for you to make it unique. But they are known for their "Golden boba: smaller and more chewy" The happy hour had me for sure... I will be trying each and every one of those four drink promos....(right after my dr appointments near by) The rewards program is always a must; Buyers' incentive and all. But they do have one of the most amount of their branded merch on display for sale, besides kung fu tea. (Thorougly surprised.) The store is like a rectangle, with ample seating on the side while you wait. The giant boba cup by the front windows...is just too perfect. I love it !! The bubble mango green tea was very refreshing, and retained the tea flavor, not over powered by the mango syrup. The cup is of a hard plastic, so they definitely didn't spare any expenses on presentation. It's better than holding a soft plastic and it squishes and then cracks, so def. Wininng me over with quality I'll probably have an update if i ever buy a cup to see how it holds up overnight.... and how disengraded the boba becomes or remains chewy. (True test lol) Updates: so it wasn't great for overnight... most of the outer layer of the Boba is dissolved and no chewyness left ...and just a little hard center.... So the search continues!

Came here on a date; it lasted 20 minutes, and he didn't even offer to pay for me. Brightside? The bubble tea was delicious. I got the golden bubble milk tea with 0% sugar and less ice. The drink is a well balance of tea and milk, with a hint of sweetness. I would have preferred the boba to be a bit less chewy, but it was nice to munch on something on my commute home. The price point is on par with the others in the city. I recommend this spot to anyone in the area.

Ceylon Black Tea Latte with Bubbles

I'm no bubble tea connoisseur, but I do love tea. I've gone through matcha, chai, and oolong phases. And I might be ready to enter my bubble tea era? Even to a layman like me, there's a lot of obvious signs that FIFTYLAN knows its craft. There were five teas on the menu this Saturday: a fruit, a milk tea, a regular bubble tea, and a black tea. I think fewer choices always communicates confidence. There was a line, but it moved quickly. A friendly and efficient verbal flow chart from the cashier guided me as I ordered my Ceylon black tea latte: medium or large? That's with whole milk, is that OK? Any bubbles or jelly? We recommend less ice and with sugar, is that OK? And it was. There's a long bench in the somewhat sterile space to wait, but I didn't have to wait long for my drink. FIFTYLAN supposedly specializes in golden boba that are smaller than the average giant tapioca balls. I found that they lasted the whole drink, and I wasn't stuck with too many or too few at the end. Moreover, their sweetness nicely balanced the bitterness of the black tea. The large didn't turn out to be comically big, either; just right. I don't know boba, but these guys seem to be doing everything right.

Love to come back here to get a bubble tea on a hot day! I got a free drink from my 10 stamps today. Staff is very nice! Some seats for ppl to wait for the drinks. Great spot for to-go beverage.

Cold Peach Green Tea w/o Ice & 25% Sugar

FiftyLan has a small and narrow storefront and right next to the Petco Pet Store. Conveniently located by the Q/N/R/W/L/4/5/6 trains. Have been seeing this aesthetic boba tea place on IG before and wanted to know what the hype is about. There's a line out the door sometimes when I stroll by on the weekends. You go line up and order at the counter. They've free postcards for you to take as well. Friendly staff, fast service and the AC is turned on high. There's a # on top of your receipt and you wait for your # to be called by the staff. The heat from outside is no joke, so a cold flavored tea (no ice though) is very much needed in this humid weather. You can taste the strong tea flavor in the drinks because it's brewed from tea leaves, although they tend to use flavored syrups from squeeze bottles instead of freshly-made ingredients like purées. One star off for that. On the plus side, you can request it without ice and adjust the sugar and/or ice level to your desire. Can ask for a stamp card for purchasing drinks. Accepts both cash and/or credit/debit card. Buy 10 drinks to get one free drink of any size and of your choice. No restroom here though, so definitely start running to Barnes & Nobles if you need to. At first, I got puzzled from the "straws are available upon request" sign. What/how are you exactly supposed to sip your drink w/o a straw? With your fingers lol? But then, I see a video playing on the overhead screen showing that they've a small plastic applicator you can use to slit the cover with, an opening small enough for customers to sip through if they don't like using straws. Ahh, so that's why the sign is there. They've a long wooden bench across the boba tea space that can fit about 12-14 people. Love how there're several outlets underneath the seats to charge your phone. Bought a large peach green tea with 50% sugar at first, but then the staff has suggested 25% sugar instead because it might taste too sweet. Although I think it's a bit on the milder side with only 25% sugar, I guess it's healthier without the extra sugar. The plastic cup of the drink is sturdy to hold, not flimsy like other boba tea spots. Lastly, FiftyLan sells branded merch too in store like ceramic mugs, wooden spoons, enamel pins, tins of tea leaves, and black aprons.

The tea was not bad ... service was good and fast the workers was kind and helpful. Milk Tea

The milk tea was good, service was fast and good . Small the cozy spot . Just need a little sweeping and mopping to clear and brighten up the space . I come here once in a while when I come thru union square.

Had to try out the classic from this new bubble tea spot that is another hail from Taiwan! The tea itself was a good standard and their special golden bubbles were very chewy and smaller than normal tapioca balls.

Bubble bubble! Bubble tea! New spot along Union Square for bubble tea! Location: it is located along Union Square, the interior is nice with few seatings to enjoy your bubble tea. Service: I just ordered and go, no interaction. Food: I ordered their Golden Bubble Milk tea! And it was good! The boba are not the big like other boba from other stores but it is gooey and chewey! The milk tea itself is delicate! Very classic taste. No pretending and this is how a milk tea should taste! Price rating: 7 out of 10. You get what you pay! Will definitely come back to try their other flavors, they have top 5 list!

    Golden Ice Cream Milk Tea

I tried their signature Golden Bubble Milk Tea and a Bubble Ice Cream Milk Tea. No big difference between two, just one added an ice cream at the BOTTOM! ( I thought it will be an ice cream topping) Well, adding the ice cream just made the milk tea sweeter but nothing much special. The golden bubble pearl taste good and chewy, I really like it. But the milk tea is just ok. I probably won't come and buy the second time since there are lots of bubble tea choice in New York and this brand didn't impressed me a lot.

    Chin T.

Staffs were friendly. I ordered mango green tea macchiato. The staff told me that no straw was required, just drink from the lid. Definitely very strong mango flavor. There's also a list of other drinks too if mango is not right for you. Would recommend trying this place out.

I've never been to a yogurt store that makes you pay a set price first before selecting toppings, which also means toppings are limited based on the yogurt size (something I only realized later after looking at a picture I took in the store). The employee who was supposed to help me immediately gave me attitude, as if I was supposed to already know all the "rules" of the store. I said nothing that would have warranted that reaction -- I simply went over to the display. At the register, I scanned my rewards app then couldn't find the card reader to pay. After about 20 seconds, I realized it was sitting on top of a case of water bottles (pictured). The topping limit signage was also placed off to the side of the register where customers wouldn't naturally see it -- it wasn't even on my side and was partially blocked. I only found this out when I went up to the counter after I got my yogurt. While choosing toppings, I asked how many I was allowed, and she responded, "How many toppings do you think you're supposed to choose?" with a noticeably rude tone. When I chose cookie dough as my fourth topping, she only gave me a few pieces, dropped another on the counter (pictured), and ignored it. The cookie dough topping was stale too. I also noticed she did not seem to treat other customers the same way. I eventually went back to the register - I asked her if the yogurt was actually strawberry matcha because it tasted like vanilla. I also asked about her rudeness because I genuinely didn't understand why I was being treated that way for asking simple questions. She said the information was "on the wall," even though it was difficult to see. I actually ended up apologizing earlier because she made me feel like I was burdening her. The only personable thing she said the entire interaction was that I didn't need to apologize, but the tone still felt unfriendly. Two customers sitting nearby ended up leaving without ordering. I understand it was Super Bowl Sunday and she appeared to be working alone, which may have contributed to stress. Still, I left feeling extremely shaken and even spilled yogurt on my jacket afterward. I would not return to this location. I used to come to this location sometimes, but after this experience -- and a previous visit where I ordered a tea and received very little -- I would not return.

The sound speakers is boisterously loud blasting music directly at my face by the ordering counter. The cashier associate was 90% inaudible of her customer service questions due to the boisterously loud blasting music as I had to fight loud vs. loud by blurting loudly several times: "WHAT?" Why would a business intentionally place sound speakers in front of a ordering counter station where customers must communicate their food/drink orders? How can customers place their drinks orders with clear specific description/instructions only for the cashier associate to inadvertently obfuscate by misinformation because the message conveyed was utterly misinterpreted? Communication is vital for ordering and order fulfillment accuracy in the food service industry! The cardboard paper straws available are environmentally sustainable friendly for biodegradable and compostable. However, these cardboard straws taste AWFULl!!
