Matcha tiramisu
Maria R.

The sign outside got me to go in the matcha tiramisu looked really good and it was good. They have kiosks where you can order and a few seats to wait at. The store was nice and clean and my drink was made quick. The grand st location is my preferred location in lower Manhattan the drink was creamy delicious and the girl who made it was nice.

I stopped by to rest before heading over to Thai Diner and wanted to grab something to sip on - I tried their Guava matcha with less sugar, and it was actually quite delicious. There's a moderate amount of seating inside as well (side by side), so I would recommend it as a rest stop in Chinatown!

Mango Sticky Rice
Myan L.

I got the mango sticky rice drink that many come here for! It came out with the sticky rice too think, purple rice instead of green or white sticky rice that i'd imagine comes with the drink. It was hard to drink as it was so thick for my straw it created its own suction. I do appreciate the fresh mangoes and how fast they make the drinks. Next time I would definitely rather get mango pomelo sago or something of the sort.

Matcha mochi and Persimmon Coco

High quality ingredients, fresh in-season offerings, and care of the craft is apparent in every drink made at Jooy tea. I was drawn in to the store to try their persimmon drink line. Persimmons are one of my absolutely favorite winter fruits, and you don't see too many boba shops making beverages with them, but jooy tea advertised 3 different offerings with the seasonal fruit. All were smoothies blended with tea, so I decided to try the Persimmon Coco which also featured coconut milk and jammy persimmon on the bottom. This drink was SO GOOD!! At 70% sugar, it was perfectly refreshing, not too sweet, and did not overpower the light taste of persimmon (not too sweet=highest praise iykyk). The jam on bottom was also full of large persimmon chunks so this drink was so fresh and well worth the money. My partner tried the matcha rice mochi, and also loved it. It was a blended matcha smoothie with a mochi/glutinous rice mixture on bottom, super tasty and really felt like more of a dessert than just a drink. Small waiting/seating area could get crowded during rushes, but the workers handled them quickly. Could order either from kiosk or at the counter, I had some questions so I ordered up front and the worker was extremely helpful in explaining the differences between the 3 drinks. Although these drinks are on the more expensive side (~ $10 each), each one is crafted with fresh seasonal ingredients and not full of syrups or powders like some other cheaper places. If you are a fellow persimmon lover, please stop in and try this drink before winter is over!!

Came to grab a drink while waiting for my noodle order. Persimmon Tornado was sooooo delicious!!?! It is a seasonal drink and it's a must! Service was great. I will have to try other drinks next time. They have a few comfy seats to hang out at if you want to drink there.

Golden Passion Fruit

(Food)/drink: 5/5 I got the golden passionfruit tea and it has a fixed sugar and ice option, which was perfect for me. Came with lychee jelly and boba, and the boba was a great texture, some may say a little on the softer side. Friends got the mango solo and the lychee dragonfruit, liked their drinks as well. Service: 5/5 if we ordered at the kiosk, we would not have gotten all the tips the nice lady at the register gave us! She let us know the lychee dragonfruit comes pretty sweet already and recommended cutting down the sugar level, which made it a close to perfect sweetness at 30%. Ambiance: K-pop music playing in the background, a few seats, bright lighting and easy to understand menu.

Persimmon Coco

This tea shoppe in Chinatown has multiple locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Their menu isn't the biggest but they specialize in teas and fruit teas. I got their seasonal persimmon coco, which was delicious. You can really taste how they use real ingredients and how high-quality their drinks are. I would note that it is on the pricier side though, and that my drink was ~$10. Nonetheless, a great spot if you wanna treat yourself!

After dinner nearby, we came here for some drinks and sweets. It was almost closing time and we were the only ones in the shop on a friday night (around 7:15pm). We ordered a few drinks and 2 egg waffles. Drinks were refreshing, sweet and delicious. Our one friend was parch and needed something after our meal.... this place hit the spot. Waffles took abit longer than expected because it was the new guy's first time making it and had to get his other team mate to come help and redo one of them (which cause the first waffle to be cold). I believe it took 2 tries before they were able to finish the second waffle and gave to us. We kept hearing them talk (he messed up/needed helpe, etc)... I'm glad he got to learn and slowly perfect his technique in making better egg waffles. But I do wish they could have apologize and explain (in case future customers didn't overhear the whispers of help) for better customer service. We were understanding but do believe that their hospitality can improve as there would be less-understanding guests. Didn't taste much flavor as the chocolate overpowered everything. Also wasn't really sweet which made me thought of dark chocolate or just cocoa powder mixed in the batter without any sugar. Chocolate banana waffle Chocolate oreo waffle Watermelon drink And 2 other tea drinks. Didn't take pics of friends' drink as they left first to catch the bus as the rest of us waited for our waffles.

Mochi Barley Milk Tea
Dan G.

One of the largest variety of drinks for an nyc milk tea shop. Some of my favorite seasonal ones are the persimmon and papaya drinks. When those aren't in season, the taro mochi or taro sticky rice are always good. Recently went back and tried their newer mochi barley and mochi matcha drinks. The barley was quite pleasant with barley poppings and less sugar. The mochi matcha was surprisingly sweet in comparison. This location also has a few seats where you can relax and enjoy your drink when it's not crowded.

Persimmon milk tea was quite enjoyable! Peach jelly milk tea was also really good. Very helpful and attentive team member!

10/10 best fruit tea/boba. They have such cool, unique drinks. would highly recommend the seasonal persimmon drinks, especially any of the ones with tea. The non caffeinated version (just milk and persimmon) is good but not nearly as good as the others (and probably not worth the hefty $10)

signature fruit tea
Christina L.

Jooy has one of my top drinks, which I've tried at another location and gave 5 stars--the persimmon coco--but it was no longer in season when I came this time. I tried something new, and so this review will also consider that. I ordered the signature fruit tea 100% sugar and it was more tea heavy than fruity which is probably why I didn't love this. It also had a slight bitterness, which I think is due to the smashed lemon and lime slices, and so this drink wasn't as refreshing as I wanted it to be. (3/5 stars)

Danielle Y.

First time trying this chain of Boba and I am truly impressed at the flavors. They have a location right in Little Italy, which is super convenient. unfortunately it looks like they were short staffed. There was only one person making Boba and the wait time was around 20 minutes. We had an appointment to run to, so if we knew it was that long we probably wouldn't have gotten the drinks there. The flavor was really good, but I have to say there's so much ice that it felt like there was barely any actual tea inside. For eight dollars I would recommend they put a little bit less ice, but forgot to take a photo of the drink and only remembered while I was on the subway. literally finished the drink from a short walk and held onto save the ice would melt a little bit.

I've never been to a yogurt store that makes you pay a set price first before selecting toppings, which also means toppings are limited based on the yogurt size (something I only realized later after looking at a picture I took in the store). The employee who was supposed to help me immediately gave me attitude, as if I was supposed to already know all the "rules" of the store. I said nothing that would have warranted that reaction -- I simply went over to the display. At the register, I scanned my rewards app then couldn't find the card reader to pay. After about 20 seconds, I realized it was sitting on top of a case of water bottles (pictured). The topping limit signage was also placed off to the side of the register where customers wouldn't naturally see it -- it wasn't even on my side and was partially blocked. I only found this out when I went up to the counter after I got my yogurt. While choosing toppings, I asked how many I was allowed, and she responded, "How many toppings do you think you're supposed to choose?" with a noticeably rude tone. When I chose cookie dough as my fourth topping, she only gave me a few pieces, dropped another on the counter (pictured), and ignored it. The cookie dough topping was stale too. I also noticed she did not seem to treat other customers the same way. I eventually went back to the register - I asked her if the yogurt was actually strawberry matcha because it tasted like vanilla. I also asked about her rudeness because I genuinely didn't understand why I was being treated that way for asking simple questions. She said the information was "on the wall," even though it was difficult to see. I actually ended up apologizing earlier because she made me feel like I was burdening her. The only personable thing she said the entire interaction was that I didn't need to apologize, but the tone still felt unfriendly. Two customers sitting nearby ended up leaving without ordering. I understand it was Super Bowl Sunday and she appeared to be working alone, which may have contributed to stress. Still, I left feeling extremely shaken and even spilled yogurt on my jacket afterward. I would not return to this location. I used to come to this location sometimes, but after this experience -- and a previous visit where I ordered a tea and received very little -- I would not return.

Ahh, grass jelly loeng4 fan2 涼粉 is my childhood favorite dessert and summons nostalgia! It is my mission to search for bubble tea businesses that offers grass jelly as a topping for my primary reason to patronize. It was abundant which filled one quarter of my medium sized drink. The grass jelly topping is New York City standard priced at $0.50 at least there is sustainability and a sense of normalcy. I requested regular ice, but the entire ice dispensed disappointedly melted and the drink became room temperate. Heat wave medium $6.00 Passionfruit green tea with grass jelly, 50%, light sugar. The drink alone was good quality. While scanning the electronic menu the drink names appear very comical and not business appropriate as well as this bubble tea business name Ho Ho Te. The sound speakers is boisterously loud blasting music directly at my face by the ordering counter. The cashier associate was 90% inaudible of her customer service questions due to the boisterously loud blasting music as I had to fight loud vs. loud by blurting loudly several times: "WHAT?" Why would a business intentionally place sound speakers in front of a ordering counter station where customers must communicate their food/drink orders? How can customers place their drinks orders with clear specific description/instructions only for the cashier associate to inadvertently obfuscate by misinformation because the message conveyed was utterly misinterpreted? Communication is vital for ordering and order fulfillment accuracy in the food service industry! The cardboard paper straws available are environmentally sustainable friendly for biodegradable and compostable. However, these cardboard straws taste AWFULl!! The drink selection is very limited menu compared with other bubble tea competitors. Disappointedly there is no Jasmine green tea on the menu. There are some food items. Takeout menus are available for grabs. Loyalty card is available which also serve as business card where the back is printed in gold foil. This business is very accessible by MTA NYC Transit at Port Authority 42nd Street's A, C, E trains and buses near the peripheral of Times Square.

They're a little pricey, but each donut is a pretty hefty ring of chewy glutinous rice flour batter. I had them the following morning, and the donuts still tasted fresh. There was a little bit of oiliness from the frying, but it did not taste off or too greasy. I think this is from the meticulous frying process and good management of the oil. I got the Cookies and Cream, Rose, Lavender, and Pistachios. I loved the Rose and Lavender flavors, especially the lavender which had a solid floral flavor without being perfume-y.
