Solid boba tea spot. We ordered Roasted Oolong Tea Latte, Golden bubble Milk Tea, and Lychee Milk Tea. We lessened the sweetness on these drinks and the balance of tea flavor, sweetness, and creaminess was top notch imo. I was impressed with the roasted oolong and Lychee Milk Tea profile. No issues with service. This is mainly order to go style.
No construction sign could block my view of 50Lan, an incredibly iconic Taiwanese shop that has finally made its way to the U.S. Unfortunately, just like in Taiwan, they don't yet offer any non-dairy milk alternatives so getting a milk tea was a bust. They even have items labeled as "vegan friendly," but it would've been nice to try a milk tea since that's normally my go-to drink. Instead, I ordered their Peach Green Tea and it was a refreshing drink on a rather humid day. The sugar and ice levels were good, and the boba was on the chewier side if you enjoy that texture. Inside was aesthetically cute and I hope to see them expand further here in the States with more options. Maybe get one to open in the west coast next?

It's where I go when I want some strong yuzu flavor a la candied yuzu rinds mixed with my green tea of choice. The golden bubbles are actually very well made and chewy, but I've come to realize that without any toppings, the yuzu tea is kind of lackluster on its own--and their other flavors aren't all that interesting. So I wouldn't classify Fiftylan a must-visit unless you really like those rinds.

My most recent obsession is their delicious pistachio green milk tea, which has a great roasted nutty flavor. My one qualm is that it's annoyingly hard to mix in the pistachio paste, which sticks to the side and firms up. And no, shaking won't do squat! I always need to actively scrape and swirl those pieces in with my straw, so I wish it was more of an easy-to-mix liquid. The drinks are pricey, like all quality bubble tea spots these days. But if I'm gonna spend the equivalent of a cheap meal here, it'd better deliver, and this place does.

Ordering was fairly easy, and staff was pretty friendly. Ordered the popular Golden milk tea with boba- wait time was about ten minutes. The tea itself was okay, it was the orangery Bobas that made the tea taste better. Boba has just the right texture and bounce that makes you want to sip more of the drink. Overall, I enjoyed the tea drink.
Surprisingly good. Tea flavor was decently strong but sweet. The boba was nicely chewy and flavorful as well. Picked up to go but there is some seating in the store.

There's one long bench but this is mostly a grab-and-go set up. There's a pretty decent menu to choose from and they let you customize ice and sugar level (a MUST in my book!) Note that it's not dairy-free and does contain nuts. I asked and they said they could make a non-cream version to avoid dairy. Golden bubbles are the only topping option, and they recommend going with 50% sugar--it was the perfect level of sweetness in my opinion. ＊Peach Green Tea with Golden Bubble So refreshing and fruity! Their peach tea is my go-to order. We asked for 25% sugar and it was just perfect. I don't usually add boba to my drinks, but their golden bubble really impressed me. It was transparent, and chewier than typical boba.

It was a yuzu syrup at the bottom with pieces of yuzu. So good. Sometimes I get teas at places and they taste nothing like the name, not in this case! And the boba is chewy and small and plentiful! This was very close to my work, and I've been wanting to try for a while. I guess you can say I finally caved. I got the golden bubble milk tea which is their most popular drink. I didn't realize golden bubble literally just meant golden boba balls. I thought it would be some sort of special milk tea flavor LOL. But it wasn't so it was just your typical milk tea (which was pretty good) with LOTS (too much) of boba (not good). The boba to tea ratio could definitely be a lot better, half the drink was boba which is way too much. I also wish the boba was a little less chewy. They recommended 50% sugar so I got 25% and it was still too sweet for me. The upside is that it did satisfy the boba craving for the moment. And the service was quick! It was also a little bit hard to find this store because people were doing construction around the building. read more

I went here on a Monday after lunch and there was no line. I saw they had a hojicha flyer, this intrigued me, so I will have to come back for this. The man at the cashier was very nice, but he was training, so it took us about 10 min to order our drinks. He asked us the same questions multiple times. I got the peach green tea (large size) with their signature golden boba. The peach green tea tasted like water. There was not much substance. I liked the boba was nice and squishy (and not too big). FIFTYLAN is popular in Taiwan but I think their boba (as a topping) isn't that good. They're also known as KOI The in other parts of the world, which I tried in Japan. I can confidently say they're consistent, which is a good thing, but I'm being harsh on the boba here. The drinks are good and high quality. Golden Bubble Milk Tea - they do serve golden boba which has a better bounce and chew to other boba, but boba here is a medium size and they serve a hefty amount. Maybe that's a good thing for some, but there's a lack of flavor and it becomes a chore to get through all the pearls with wonky surface area because of the medium size. Besides that rant, their tea is high quality and shines through the milk while still being creamy. read more

I loved Fiftylan when I was in Taiwan, so pretty awesome to see them with locations in NY. After dinner, a friend and I stopped in for a drink. They are known for the Golden Bubble Milk Tea ($6.80 for regular), which I got. The golden bubble is the original form of a boba that's smaller and chewier. They also recommended 50% sweetness, which was perfect. The drink was refreshing and they gave a lot of the golden bubble in the drink too. With the prices of inflation these days, it's definitely a bit pricey but a good cup of boba when in the neighborhood. It's a Taiwan staple specializing in teas with a nice and clean aesthetic. read more

Visiting from out of state, and this is my favorite boba spot in all of NYC! We stumbled upon this place after eating at Ichiran (walking distance, less than 5 minutes away). It was crowded, but the line went fast. There isn't a whole lot of indoor seating, more like standing space. The staff was helpful in recommending popular drinks! I opted for the golden bubble milk tea, and I got it half sweet and it was PERFECT! The golden boba was my absolute favorite, the perfect chewiness and texture. They're not like your regular size boba, nor the tiny ones, they're just right. Ugh so good, I could drink five more cups! 11/10 recommend! read more

DRINKS We ordered the peach green tea with boba and the lychee black tea with jelly. The tea was strong and rich, and the boba and jelly added just the right amount of sweetness considering we only ordered 25% sweetness. My only caveat was the ratio of the tea and toppings. I personally would have liked a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio of tea to boba/jelly, as by the time I finished the tea, I still had a lot of toppings left. That said, it's still a great spot for boba in the area! SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly. The drinks were definitely on the pricey side, but considering other boba places in NYC, it's comparable or even a little less. Fiftylan reminds me so much of Koi in Asia--great quality and consistency. I always go for the original jasmine green tea with konjac jelly. Their konjac jelly is a standout--perfect texture and flavor--and I haven't been able to find anything quite like it anywhere else. Delicious!! Get 25% sugar. I originally opted for 50% and the person at the counter recommended 25% and I'm so glad she did. I got the medium peach green tea and the medium yuzu oolong tea, both with jellies. I prefer the yuzu oolong better since the flavor was super unique. You can taste the yuzu and tea, and it wasn't sour. The peach was good too ... very traditional and refreshing. I saw FiftyLan in Taiwan and didn't get to try when I was in Taipei so when I saw them in NYC I knew I had to try and it didn't disappoint! Wish we had them in LA! read more

This place is pure nostalgia for me. It reminded me of my first time in Taiwan years ago and getting boba they had the best simplified milk tea with the perfect sweetness. I was surprised that I bumped into this place while on a work trip and I had to stop by. It was delicious just as I remembered it years ago in Taiwan. Highly recommend their Jasmine milk tea lightly sweet and they're lightly sweet is truly the perfect amount of sweetness. The service is fast and friendly and the place is really clean. I almost didn't recognize this place cuz they changed the storefront logo from what I remember in Taiwan but their cup still had the original logo. Please come to California! read more

If you've ever been to Taiwan, you'd KNOW how iconic 50lan is overseas. This location is pretty on par to what I have had in Taipei. I recommend the Golden Bubble Milk Tea! Fragrant milk tea with perfectly QQ mini pearls. The drink is creamy without being too milky and it's still somehow refreshing. 70% sweet was good for me, but I'd recommend 50% sweet if you get boba. read more

This has always been one of my favorite milk tea places in all of NYC! Conveniently located in Ktown, this clean and aesthetic shop serves one of the best bubble teas. My favorite is the golden bubble milk tea which has gold colored smaller bubbles and a rich milk tea. I got the 50% this time which is recommended and less ice. The drink was rich and creamy with extra chewy tapioca. Next time I'd stick with my usual 30% sugar since it was a tad sweet but the drink was still delicious. I am a huge boba lover and I am pleased to say that FIFTYLAN meets my requirements for yummy boba! The staff were helpful and one of them gave me a recommendation for ice and sugar level, which was nice. There are no tables inside, but there is a long bench to sit on if needed. I got the Lychee Yakult and it was really good! I thought the taste was very refreshing and not too sweet. A Taiwanese classic, Fiftylan is a great addition to Ktown. Ordering is quick and simple despite the place being busy at all times. The Golden Bubble Milk Tea is their staple if you are visiting for the first time, but there are lots of other unique options to try for those interested in venturing out. I got the Golden Bubble Milk Tea at 70% sugar, which was still quite sweet even for me. Since they soak their golden bubbles in sweetened liquid, this drink is naturally sweet, so I'd recommend 50% sugar unless you are visiting this spot for your dessert allotment of the day. These orange bubbles are smaller and chewier than your classic tapioca balls. However, Fiftylan is also way more generous in the amount of bubbles in the drink - 1/3 of my drink was filled with these tasty and filling bubbles. My slight grievance is the prices at this establishment. Despite inflation and the current state of affairs, it is hard to justify paying ~$8 for bubble tea, even if it is the one of the most delicious teas you have tasted. 4.5/5 read more

Staffs were friendly. I ordered mango green tea macchiato. The staff told me that no straw was required, just drink from the lid. Definitely very strong mango flavor. There's also a list of other drinks too if mango is not right for you. Would recommend trying this place out. There is a bench you can sit inside while you wait for your drink. read more
