As a plus, it also looks so cute with the little deco on top! There were lots of seats available when I went in the morning. The lines have definitely died down. I was a bit disappointed at the sweepstakes event. There were seven advertised prizes, one of them was a coupon. I stopped by HeyTea Teabar for a refreshing treat on a hot, sunny day. I've been to several HeyTea locations before, but I heard they opened a teabar concept near Central Park, so I had to check it out. The line was pretty long, likely because it had just opened. If you order online, you can skip the line, although there was still a bit of a wait for drinks. There was plenty of seating inside, but it was quite busy during our visit. I got the King Jasmine Guava Orange, and it was super refreshing. The jasmine tea, guava, and orange flavors were well balanced, and the sweetness was just right. The foam topping tied everything together nicely. My only complaint is that I wish the drink were a bit larger for the price, but it was still delicious. Came on week 3 of their grand opening in UES and have to say it was a disappointment, I rarely give 2-star reviews though most of the experience just made me wish I didn't spend 40 minutes here. I hope they work out their kinks. 1) the line outside on a Friday afternoon was about 15 minutes long, the line inside was about 10 minutes long, then another 15 minutes for the order to be ready. Too long a wait and there were no staff outside manning the line. 2) no milk alternatives available: upon asking I was informed that outside of plain tea, only 3-4 tea drinks came without milk, I asked for alternative milks and they said they only had regular milk. That narrowed down the options considerably and I ended up getting a drink I wasn't originally planning on ordering. It was refreshing but not what I'd wanted. After standing in line I didn't want to leave empty handed so ended up getting something. 3) staff looked kinda stressed and I can understand that since it was non-stop. Unfortunately it didn't make for the best customer experience either. 4) the ordering system is not accurate for letting you know when your drink is ready. No exaggeration--there were about 30+ drinks sitting at the pick up counter at any given time. And one staff member handing them out. Problem is when the display showed your number was ready, they were not actually ready. This was causing a backlog of people that kept coming up trying to pick up their drinks and then told to wait. Who was indicating drinks were ready when they weren't? Also there were so many drinks she couldn't see the numbers on the stickers so she had to pick each up to check...not the staff member's fault by any means, but just totally inefficient. 5) no separate section for app orders? I'm not sure why there were soo many drinks waiting at the pick-up counter bc there were only about 10 people waiting for drinks at any given time. If there were pick-up-only orders then those should get placed elsewhere so it's not confusing when new orders are ready. 6) signs around the store looked partially handwritten. Like I get the quirky font that's part of the graphic design, but it also looks kinda makeshift for a chain that's been in business for a while. For example the taped menu with handwritten prices on the wall is disjointed when you have a digital projector displaying order numbers on the left. The labels for ice cream looked like they were written with black sharpie. It wasn't a good experience, so I won't be returning any time soon. Hopefully they get it together! read more

Honestly a really disappointing experience after all the hype. The whole place felt super busy, crowded and disorganized. Note that the line outside is only for ordering at the kiosk. You can download their app and order without waiting and just walk in to pick up your drinks/food. I highly recommend doing that to avoid wasting your time as the line runs 20-30 mins. For the drinks, they had a few different ones but it wasn't anything too crazy. Slight flavor variations from the ones you can get at the other stores with flavors like Pear. The ice cream was not great and it took a while to get it. They also sadly out of pistachio ice cream mid day so I tried the chocolate. read more

One of the only hey tea tea bars in NYC. Great location. Luckily lines weren't too long when I went on a Saturdays afternoon. Plenty of seating. Very clean, sleek and minimal interior. The quality of matcha was incredible and rich. The bitter matcha latte was delicious and thick! Loved the addition of mochi balls on top. Very pretty drink as well! I've never seen heytea launching this many new drinks all at once! Here are my rankings based on personal preference: (1) Mountain Oolong Yuzu Apple My top favorite! Refreshing, aromatic, and tart. Perfect when you want something non dairy and light. (2) King Jasmine Guava Pear A close second. I love their king jasmine guava, and this is an upgraded version with a subtle hint of crystal pear. (3) Deep Matcha Latte Even richer than their usual matcha drinks. It has a velvety texture and stronger bitterness. Dipping the mochi balls into matcha cloud is the move! Just be mindful that their matcha is extremely strong. I couldn't sleep at night even I had the drink at 2pm lol. (4) Salted Cheese Pu'er Deep Chocolate Very dark-chocolate-forward. It's surprisingly not as sweet as I thought, and the pu'er tea keeps it from feeling too heavy. (5) Mountain Oolong Milk Tea A simple and light milk tea. Congrats on grand opening of the HeyTea TeaBar on the UES E86th & Lex area!! The lines were so crazy crazy long. It was very very long in the morning, so I didn't wait. I came back at night and it was still very long, but the line was about half as long. I still had to wait about 2.5hrs from going in to place my order and to get my order. They closed the line at 8pm to finish filling the orders placed. They were still filling orders past 10pm. It's BOGO for the 3 days weekend for the grand opening, so the craze is kinda expected since they are so popular. Lines should calm down a bit after all the grand opening promos. They have a few items that are only specific to this location for now. It's on their app if you pick the heytea teabar (86st) location to view the menu. It will say not open for ordering but you can still look at the menu from there. I liked the King Jasmine Guava Pear. It's very tasty with milk foam on top. The drinks are only one size, so it's a small cup. I got it with light sugar and it's just enough of sweetness. I also tried the Gardenia Raspberry Orange. This was ok. Light and refreshing if you want something lighter. It's made from White Dew Gardenia tea and juice blends. They sold out of the Deep Matcha Latte by closing time. This has the mochi stick on top. This was very popular. At this particular location, they have Tea Ice Cream!! There are 2 flavors: Gardenia Pistachio and Salted Cheese Chocolate. I had the salted cheese chocolate and it was so good. Very smooth, creamy and light. A little scoop for about $5.50 with tax. Not too sweet. The size is small but just the right amount. There are seatings inside. It's narrow, but it has more seats in the back. It has about 15-20 seats. It's right near the 86th St train station on the same block. Worth a visit. Maybe when the grand opening crowds fades a bit, then you can really enjoy the tea and atmosphere. Staff are really nice and you can see them working really hard during this grand opening. Refreshing drinks 1. Mountain Oolong Yuzu Apple 8/10: floral, refreshing, and unique combination of flavors. I appreciate the creativity and the layered flavor profiles. It tasted a tad too sweet with regular sugar so I recommend getting it with less sugar. 2. King Jasmine Guava Pear 7/10: rich jasmine flavor, creamy, and fruity. I like it but not my favorite flavor combo. I think it is a bit off putting for me to have milky tastes mixed with fruit. But if you like that this would be good for you. 3. King Jasmine Pear 6/10: rich Jasmine and pear. Similar to king Jasmine guava pear except without guava. Refreshing but also rich Jasmine and creamy notes. Nice ambiance and has a bathroom. I confess I'm a big fan of Heytea already so to see them open HeyTea Tea Bar and of all the places Upper Eastside, I was only too eager to try. Came on a Tuesday afternoon just right before the crowd, we waited on line outside the store for about 15 minutes. Given its new opening, line is expected though that will die down during the week as I have experienced wth other HeyTea location. Upon entry, you can see that the decor is designed like fancier tea houses vs the other locations where it's more lighthearted. The menu is different from most HeyTea. I have mixed feelings about this. After waiting for 20-25 minutes, we arrived at the order counter and decided to go with King Jasmine Guava Pear, Lychee Pear and White Dew Gardenia Deep Matcha. While we didn't have to wait too long for our drink, the cashier took my order incorrectly and I ended up with White Dew Gardenia milk tea. Loved Guava Pear. I couldn't taste the lychee in Lychee Pear and the White Dew milk tea was alright. I prefer their Jasmine Tea Latte. Not sure what I think yet and feel like I need to go back and give it one more shot. I hope it's better since it's my fav 5-star tea place. read more

I tried coming here so many times for their opening bogo deal but the lines were insane - 1.5 to 5 h waits. I finally got in on a Monday with a 25 min wait. The green tea matcha was yummy. The mochi was surprisingly delicious and high quality. Dipping into the foam was amazing. The Salted cheese Pu'er Deep Chocolate drink tasted like melted chocolate ice cream on top - in a good way. The foam had very nice consistency. The bottom layer was very watery. I think best if you mix everything together. I am going to go back to try the other flavors! read more

Came on the third day of their grand opening around 10am! This is when they just opened and as expected lines were crazy long, took 3 hours to get our drinks but we were able to get the magnets too! The workers outside were friendly and they did a pretty good job managing the overall flow. I can't imagine any drink being worth 3 hours on a regular basis but some of these were pretty good and I'm happy I stayed for the goodies and chance to try many of their options! Once the line dies down, I would come back for a few of their options. Sadly I couldn't get the bottled Jasmine milk tea since it was already sold out White dew gardenia deep matcha - the tea flavor comes through but it's pretty light and lightly floral! The matcha flavor is nice and strong with a nice bitterness! The mochi balls are chewy but as usually these large ones tend to be pretty bland 8.5/10 King jasmine strawberry cloud - the red part on top is kinda sour and punchy in flavor!! Taste very good and adds some layers to the other side soft drink. I can taste the tea flavor and doesn't taste artificial either 8.5/10 Salted cheese pu'er deep chocolate - the salt foam is very nice, chocolate is rich but not too bitter or overpowering. Good salty chocolate milk. Not too heavy. Don't taste pu'er too much? 6/10 Mountain oolong yuzu apple - I think there's a honey type flavor maybe the apple part overpowers. It's light and refreshing but not memorable 5/10 Gardenia pistachio ice cream - only taste pistachio and cream, I didn't like the texture, it's like a mushy lumpy bite.. pistachio flavor is good but not great either 3/10 Jasmine tea sample - while waiting in line they gave us this as samples! Came here on their third day of opening and I arrived at around 7pm. The line wasn't too long, and the end of the line was right in front of Wonder when I arrived. Even though the line itself wasn't that long, I still waited for around 40 min from the time I started lining up to when I got the drink. I didn't try their "signature drinks" and I got the jasmine lychee pear and chocolate hazelnut instead. The Jasmine lychee pear was very refreshing! I couldn't really taste the lychee but I definitely tasted the pear. Not sure if the cheese foam here was different than regular heytea but it tasted lighter. I really liked that they added lime zest on the of the cheese foam. Even though there wasn't a lot of lime zest, I definitely tasted it and it was very fragrant. The hazelnut chocolate was extremely chocolaty and rich. I think this drink is perfect for kids or anyone that doesn't like tea. Even though the line was a little long, I had a pretty good experience overall. There were a lot of people but the store didn't look very chaotic and the drinks didn't taste rushed. Highly recommend and I will definitely come back to try more of their drinks! read more

I love heytea and with the new flavors the tea bar had to offer and high reviews from friends meant I was excited to try. I accidentally arrived before opening on a Sunday. They had opened their doors but requested I wait outside until 10 which was fair. In that 7 minutes a line did begin to form behind me. At 10 I walked in but they requested a few more moments which was fair, and eventually someone came out to herd the line and let us in. I immediately placed my order, opting for the guava pear with less ice and less sweet. I was given a receipt and went off to the side the wait. They gave a nice board situation where you can track your order. After a few minutes where I chatted with another customer, she was handed her drink, mine also appeared to be complete, so I went to grab it and handed over the receipt. As I was gathering a napkin, another employee came up to me and asked what my number was. I hesitated (forgetting I took the photo) and he asked to see my receipt which I didn't have after handing it over to get my drink. In this process, where he thought I took another drink (which was the correct flavor with the right tweaks), I handed my drink back to him while he looked at it, seemingly prepped to give it to someone else. Another employee intervened and explicitly stated I was the first person in, and I had my correct drink. I went to sit because the area was nice and airy, but as it was filling up I opted instead to drink while going through the park. The drink was delicious! Great fruit flavor, really nice tea flavor, and the only thing I wish is that I didn't get it less sweet (this is a personal preference, I always get full sweet typically). Opening Day in June: Pistachio gardenia ice cream was smooth, creamy, and a little salty. I liked the paper spoon as it made it really easy to scrape the sides. The Deep Matcha Latte was thick and earthy. I got it because it had a 3-pc dango stick (soft and yummy). It was fun to dip into the thick drink. The King Jasmine Guava Pear was light and fruity, but I wasn't a fan as its flavor notes were pretty muted. The long bar has cute low back and sling-style seats, and there are 2-seat tables placed throughout. In a corner section, they have a small table with 2 seat cushions to sit on a small platform. Hey Tea opened their new concept as a tea bar in the UES and I managed to skip the crazy lines by going in the morning on a weekend! They offer a whole new menu that is different from their regular Hey Tea locations. The Deep Matcha featured Hey Tea's familiar matcha flavors - prominent but more creamy, milky, and foamy. The drink was well mixed and creamy throughout. The three mochi balls were chewy! The Salted Cheese Pu'er Deep Chocolate was like a creamy chocolate drink. While I wish the pu'er tea flavors came through more, I liked how smooth the drink. The salted cream was a nice touch to balance the bitterness of the cocoa. Staff were polite but the drink pickup process was a little messy and disorganized. Despite the cute projected chart displaying orders in process vs ready for pick up, people were still going up to the counter to ask for their drinks and the staff were pressured to prep drinks for those who ask. They did not consistently call out numbers unfortunately. From my observation, after the main part of a drink is done, there are a lot of finishing touches that need to be completed (pack the mochi, add the cream, do the sprinkles etc), which is the rate limiting step that causes the main delays and confusion. As expected my drinks took a while and I ultimately had to ask for them. The rest of the store is very minimalistic but aesthetic. Decent amount of indoor seating available. I got the King Jasmine Guava Pear on July 4th weekend prior to the fireworks and the place was pretty empty due to the event. The atmosphere and vibe is nice and the staff was also really calm and nice whilst taking our order. The drink itself was nothing too too special, but I would get it again since the flavors did all speak really well in the drink, particularly their guava flavor. We did also get some cute fridge magnets celebrating the World Cup for Canada and Norway, which was really nice. I think overall the concept of this place is nice, and the quality of drinks is pretty close to other HeyTeas in the area, but if there's a long line, which there will usually be, its worth trying something else and save your time. read more
