Came for the bogo deal to try their new Korean inspired drinks: black sesame, strawberry creme, melona, and Korean banana milk. The Korean banana milk tasted exactly like banana candy from my childhood plus Binggrae banana milk. The flavor is very strong and it hits you on the first sip. It might be a little artificial tasting but it's not bad. The black sesame has a much milder flavor. Even after thoroughly mixing the drink, there was only a tiny hint of black sesame. I would not have thought this was a black sesame flavored drink if not for the gritty texture. Even with the subtle/weak taste, I still liked the black sesame more because it just tasted like sweetened milk. I would have preferred if it had a stronger black sesame flavor though. Honestly a very mid boba spot. Super small stand in the middle of the ktown block with barely any room to wait lol. Small menu, nothing special except the matcha cloud which was pretty good. The Taro drink was powder and the dragonfruit drink I got tasted more like passion fruit than anything. Waited a while for these drinks as well since they messed up the first time and gave our drinks to someone else. With so many bubble tea places in Koreatown, on a Sunday afternoon where there's so long lines and waits I decided to pick up a drink at Tea Makers. It is a tiny drink stall where you order, pay & pick up to go. You will literally order on the street, wait on the street and take away. You get to take in the feel and noise of the street and vibrancy of Koreatown whole you wait. The plus is the drink are slightly more affordable than cafes. I decided to get the Iced cheese foam dragonfruit lychee slushie. First plus, not $10. Or was $2 cheaper than most other places that sell dragonfruit based drink. It only comes in large. Customers do see drink order fulfilled in your presence while you wait. It is a trek as I walked from 34th Street-Penn Station subway station's IND Eighth Avenue Line for A, C and E trains to get here. I am willing and able to trek far for good quality tea with grass jelly loeng4 fan2 涼粉 topping. Tea Makers carry my default favorite grass jelly loeng4 fan2 涼粉 topping as my primary raison d'etre visit including Jasmine Green Tea. The standard drinks are listed in their tea menu. A takeout menu is available for grabs. There are two large TV screen monitors hanging above the counter for their drink menu. Customer service is average, but not callous and not rude. Thankfully, I did NOT receive the nefarious abomination comment "after you pay" when requesting a receipt. Jasmine Green Tea $5.50. One medium drink with grass jelly loeng4 fan2 涼粉 $.075, regular ice 100%, and sugar 25%. I desired this drink to be cold and no milk. The ice was sweating condensation on the cup, but during my one hour subway ride home all the ice melted entirely again and again. The cashier shouted to the staff "NO, GRASS JELLY" for corrective action to the servers which I am thankfully that my order was accurately fulfilled appropriately. If there is tapioca pearls as a substitute, then I do NOT want it!! I do NOT want tapioca pearl for a replacement for my beloved favorite default grass jelly loeng4 fan2 涼粉. Again, I refuse to adapt or change my predilections as it is my personality and personal taste. The staff heed all my requests to the tee. The grass jelly was chilled and delicious, but paucity for very minimal quantity. I have a predilection for Jasmine tea's aroma which also relieve stress as a health benefit. This was one of the best tasting taro milk teas I've had in awhile. It was sweet, creamy, and tasted exactly like a vanilla taro pudding or dessert. There wasn't any powdery residue either, and everything was well mixed. That being said, the only downside was how old and stale the boba pearls were. If you've drank enough boba tea and/or made it at home, you can tell when the pearls have been sitting out for a long time, and unfortunately that was the case here. It also had chunks of mango floating inside, which enhanced the mango taste and made it a bit sweet. Overall, it was pretty good and very refreshing to me. While there are a ton of great bubble tea spots in K-Town, I'm happy I gave this spot a try because the quality of the bubble tea here is wonderful. My sister tried their Black Sesame Milk Tea and loved it as well. I recommend checking out this spot if you're in the area and looking for quality bubble tea. The volume of boba balls given in the drink were also a good amount! The sweetness of the drink balanced with the oat milk was adjusted perfectly to my liking and the overall size of the large drink was great to split between two people. *CUSTOMER SERVICE* Young staff in the kitchen with quick service when it comes to ordering but do not yell out orders when they give out the drinks, so stay keen on your order in line and who picks up the drinks. *AMBIANCE* This boba 'shop' is similar to the tiger sugar in queens in which it's a take-out counter where you order, wait outside, and pick up all at the same spot without entering a facility. No. Chairs? Absolutely not. Door? Nope. But they do have bubble tea, they get the job done, and they make them probably the quickest I've ever seen any place make them. I also knew I was walking into a stall situation, so I didn't want to hold up the line while I was reading off my essay of sugar and ice adjustments (Ktown street is crowded enough as it is.... no need to make it even more congested). We probably ordered around 10min in advance, and I was so shocked that when we got there all of the drinks were already done. I was fully prepared to wait longer, but they had our nine drinks done in 10min AND they were still taking orders. I'm super impressed by how quickly they were able to get everything done; like we're talking approximately 1 dpm (drink per minute) and that's only considering the drinks they were making for our order. The drink that sets them apart from other stores is their cheese cake option, which is available with most of their milk teas. I decided I had to try it and forged ahead in my quest to find a coconut milk tea better than KFT. I personally didn't gain a lot from the cheese cake topping. I think what it does is make the drink a bit more sweet and a bit more creamy as a whole, but I didn't get a cheese cake flavor and I still found the tea to be thinner/watery than I would have liked it to be. On the other hand, one of us also had the taro cheese cake milk tea, and he disagreed big time with me not tasting the cheese cake. So honestly, you will just have to see whether or not your taste buds are pro cheese cake. The boba here was smaller than your average boba size, but they had a decent texture as they weren't overly chewy or soft, and they had a slight sweetness to them. The ratio of boba to tea was way off though- a bunch of us ran out of boba when we had over half of the drink left. We also would not recommend getting the grass jelly because it was insanely soft and almost mushy? It was like a wad of wet overcooked spinach getting slurped into your mouth. The drink reviews were super mixed. I was trying to find patterns in our ratings, but it seems like whatever you get will either be a hit or a miss. Generally speaking, fruit teas got higher ratings, but it's hard to say definitively that they'll be better than the milk teas. Based on what we had, we'd recommend the Pomegranate Green Tea or the Taro Cheese Cake Milk Tea. But, there's a huge, super unique, menu here, so maybe go for your go-to drink and see where that takes you! read more

Great and refreshing tea on a hot day. This is a storefront only and there's usually a long line. So not the most convenient with endless drink/dessert options around. But it is a great location near many restaurants in Koreatown. We ordered the Lychee Spring Tea (light ice, 50% sugar) and the Pomegranate Green Tea (light ice, 75% ice). Both drinks were great. The Spring Tea is much lighter on the tea flavor and has a lychee inside. I thought the sweetness level at 50% was perfect, with a strong lychee and light tea flavor. It's not too sweet. After seeing this place on a NYC foodie youtube video, it became one of the places on my hit list in Koreatown. We tried this place multiple times during our stay. I had the kumquat lemon green tea and the kiwi yakult. I also tried out my friends' dragon fruit & lychee drink(sans cheese foam). All were really good, cold and refreshing but my favorite was definitely the kumquat lemon green tea. I liked how they added orange and lemon slices in the drink. Prices are also reasonable. During COVID-19 as of April 2022: A second time around and I find myself not enjoying their yakult based mango drink. Tea Makers's mango yakult just did not sit well with me because they use carbonated soda mixed with a tiny bit of yakult and small uneven chunks of mango and mango puree. In comparison to other bubble tea shops in NYC that make the same concoction, yakult fruit drinks usually DON'T have fizz to it. I was expecting a certain taste and alas it tasted like soda with an unknown fruit flavor and a HINT of yakult, even with the mango bits. Sorry, I'll pass this time on this particular drink. The other disappointing thing about ordering tea here is that the staff wouldn't allow me to adjust the sugar and ice levels for my drink while other establishments can, even if it's 30% sugar. Expect an uncertain line to form on weeknights or just when K-Town gets crazy busy where no one knows where the line starts or ends. Very confusing and frustrating especially with tons of people bumping into you or waiting around in front of this business. I do like that they have a million options which makes me feel like there's no specialty drink either... I'd probably stick with a basic tea drink here which they do make.
