Staff is young and inattentive of the customers, from the hostesses to the waiter somebody needs to do a major lesson in customer service to the staff. As to the food I have to say the table salsa was way above par, I just wish that the rest of the meal even came close to the salsa. I had the carnitas burrito both the pork and beans had very little flavor, my wife chicken flautas tortilla wraps were so over cooked that only the middles were fit to eat and then the chicken was almost tasteless. Service was fine but the food was not and the atmosphere of smoking outside is awful. We were surrounded by smokers and it was just unpleasant. I really hate Mexican food that is made with all queso cheese dip - the onion and cheese enchiladas had no onions in them and the cheese was queso dip! Gross!!! I want real, shredded cheeses that are melted not some saucy cheese dip that doesn't come apart. That stuff just grosses me out. I won't go back. The chips and salsa were just ok but I wasn't fancy about them either. The salsa was maybe the best part of the meal plus maybe the rice... but I asked for my meal without beans and they still included them. The theme of my experience was generosity - generous food portions, generous drinks, and welcoming people. I arrived Friday about 1:40pm, which was the perfect sweet spot in timing. Lunch specials extend until 2:00pm, and happy hour starts at 2:00pm. By arriving shortly before 2:00pm, I qualified for both during my same visit. A heaping basket of chips and salsa arrived promptly, a delicious starter to stave off the hunger pangs since I was lunching later than typical. The chips were salty and crunchy, and the salsa had just a hint of spice. I ordered the lunch steak fajitas. The steak fajitas arrived sizzling and steaming from the grill. The fajitas consisted of a generous portion of steak plus caramelized onions, grilled green peppers, and grilled tomatoes. The steak was well-seasoned. The bell peppers were blistered slightly from the grill which added yummy flavor but were still crunchy not soggy. Skip the tomatoes; the tomatoes didn't stand up to the grilling and were a soggy mess. The fajitas were accompanied by rice, refried beans, shredded lettuce, Pico de Gallo, a generous dollop of sour cream, and three flour tortillas. After I used the tortillas to make three wrapped fajitas, I still had plenty of steak, veggies, rice, and beans left over, which I greedily attacked with a fork. The happy hour special is two-for-one margaritas, poured in the same mug. The margaritas are also very generous, and the resulting mug is huge! I loved that the restaurant doesn't skimp on good tequila for its happy hour; they made it with Cuervo. The amount of tequila was also generous; I could definitely taste the tequila. The server was friendly and generous in spirit. I asked if it was okay if I lingered (the margarita as I said was huge), and she was very welcoming. The food is good but as someone who's vegan or anyone vegetarian eating here. All their food comes with rice. The rice is made with chicken stock and flagged as vegan on the menu like wtf. That's totally not ok and an extreme red flag. I know I've eaten here before and ate the rice. I'm really upset about the fact that it's not remotely transparent and marked with a big "VEGAN" stamp when in fact it's brought to you with chicken stock infused into everything. Extremely dishonest and really disrespectful. The food is good if you are very specific in ordering and not going by what's supposed to be a menu flag to make sure you aren't eating meat. The service was ok. I felt avoided after being bothered by the meat in the vegan food deal. She was nice and it was fast. I get it it's not services fault but I will be sharing this bad info to black list this place from great places with vegan options that we found this place through. Awesome Mexican gem in downtown Mount Dora! Fiesta Grande has fantastic drinks (definitely recommend trying one of their margaritas-especially during 2 for 1 happy hour!) and delicious food at decent prices. We started with chips, queso and salsa. The queso was a traditional white queso and was not spicy at all. If you're afraid of spice there is no reason to shy away from this! For dinner my boyfriend had the quesadillas with fajita steak and they were outstanding! The steak was seasoned perfectly and the quesadillas were crisp and not soggy like you see in other places. I had the chori pollo special and it was fantastic! It's a combination of chorizo and chicken with bell peppers and onions in a wonderful cheese sauce. It comes with rice, beans and a guacamole salad. It had an amazing flavor and was something different from any other Mexican restaurant I've been to. We've heard good things about this place and since I'm originally from an area with excellent and authentic Mexican food, thought today was a good day to stop in with my visiting daughter and young grandson. We weren't sure if it was a "seat yourself " establishment or if there was a hostess to seat you as no one was near the hostess stand when we arrived. We asked a lady a few times what we should do and she finally nodded, pointed and told us to find a table and someone would be over. As a guest whose only lived in Florida for 3 months at this point, I'll be right up front to say that for a "tourist" state, Florida could do better in terms of customer service and efficiency. (Insert eye roll here). Y'all would never make it up north anywhere with some of the rudeness and/or lack of hustle that we've experienced and it's technically not even SEASON. Rant over. Once our server gal stopped by our table with menu's (10 minute wait) she was friendly and quick to bring us water, chips/salsa and to take our drink order. She left us hanging for a bit longer than usual to return for our actual order, but we weren't starving, so she gets a pass. Gson ordered a chicken quesadilla with rice & beans, daughter ordered nearly the same, but adult version with guacamole. I'm a sucker for enchiladas and ordered a chicken enchilada with guacamole... but I'm pretty sure I received a chicken burrito with sour cream and a side of guacamole. ‍ It wasn't worth mentioning as we'd waited long enough for our meals... food was cooked to temp and tasted fine. Having not eaten here in over 5 years, I wasn't sure what to expect - however, one of my coworkers recommended this restaurant I thought it was worth another try! Everything was so delicious. I've noticed some Mexican restaurants tend to cover everything in insane amounts of cheese- however that was not the case here. I ordered the vegetarian chicken fajitas (yes!) served sizzlin' and fresh. Came with rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, and pico on the side. My dad had the vegan spinach dish (served with vegan cheese!) What?! I didn't know restaurants served dishes like this that aren't 100% vegan. It was really nice to see that they have so many options. Ended the meal with a churro sundae- delightful meal and I'll definitely be back! read more

There are people who love this place, but I am not one of them. It really is a matter of personal taste. Having lived in S. Texas for 33 years, I don't like Gringo Mexican food and that's what the food is here. It has no soul. Every dish tastes the same to me. Not enough chili, not enough cumin, not enough cilantro, not enough of any traditional flavors including the salsa. It tastes as if all of the ingredients came out of packages from Publix. Drove from Orlando to Mount Dora, a couple days before NYE to see Christmas lights. Before walking around, my boyfriend and I stopped at Fiesta Grande for dinner. It was a Wednesday night, but crazy busy due to the holiday (I imagine there's a similar crowd on the weekends). The wait was 30 minutes, no problem. While we waited I went inside to use the restroom - this is where things got pretty uncomfortable. The place is a moderate size, crowded with people and there was only one bathroom operational. Mid Covid there's a line of maskless people standing right in the middle of the restaurant talking and casually walking around. Although I was veryyy uncomfortable, there's not much that could have been done differently other than the workers enforcing mask wearing. As for the food and service, I'm giving 4 stars because nothing about it was bad. But there's also nothing unique about the experience. I had a taco salad, my boyfriend had a burrito. The Jalapeño margaritas we ordered were huge (non-happy hour size), but tasted like standard margarita mix with a splash of tequila, shaken with jalapeño slices. If you're in the area and craving Tex-Mexish food and margaritas, Fiesta Grande will probably hit the mark. If you're being precautious of Covid safety measures, I recommend coming during off hours or ordering take-out (also sitting outside was a bit easier to distance). read more

Time passes and things change. The last time I was here I couldn't believe how delicious the food was. This time? I was incredibly underwhelmed. First of all the service we got today was rushed and our server seemed she was just overwhelmed. As for the food, last I was here, I ate meat and now I don't. I realize that my choices will be incredibly limited and I do not expect a notoriously meat based food to cater to me. I was however, thrilled to find a part on the menu that catered to vegetarians. I wanted Enchiladas (I had them last time, I figured I could get them vegetarian). I asked our server what the vegetarian Enchiladas had in them, she said "Cheese".. uh hmm.. just cheese? Oh yea, no. That sounds lazy and well, kind of gross. What do the Chile rellenos have in them? Same. Oyy. No. So I asked what veggies the vegetarian Fajitas have.. "Onions, peppers, mushrooms, broccoli.." Ok, I order those. My hubby got a platter that had the enchilada, a chile relleno, and a chalupa. So flavor wise let me break this down lest anyone wants to judge because of our not eating meat: Guacamole was delicious. It was the only thing. Refried beans, bland - basically tasteless. Rice, was not good at all, some of it looked crunchy, not bottom of the pan crunchy, but sitting under a heat lamp crunchy. These are things on everyone's plate carnivores/vegetarians alike. Now for the veggie dishes. I should have known better. Broccoli, mushrooms and squash do not belong on this fajita dish. Not mexican, not authentic and change the flavor. My fajitas tasted like Chinese stir fry. I did not finish them. How about Peppers, onions and jicama? I tried my husband's food and oh no... you just can't stuff everything with cheese. It is just NOT. GOOD. How about offering black beans slightly mashed with some great seasonings instead of meat? Fill those chiles with a rice/black bean mixture. Something. Black beans not authentic? Well hey, neither are broccoli and summer squash so if you can change that up you can give us other options or not. If you are going to offer a vegetarian portion on the menu, just talk to people who are. Get ideas on how to change the recipes. All in all though, it seems this place is resting on their laurels. My daughters Chalupas in theory should have been delish. She also thought they were pretty bland. Sadly, now that I actually live close enough to come on a whim, I won't . I do hope they go back to their former flavors ... (pssst.. add Chilaquiles to the menu with salsa verde). read more
