The theme of my experience was generosity - generous food portions, generous drinks, and welcoming people. I arrived Friday about 1:40pm, which was the perfect sweet spot in timing. Lunch specials extend until 2:00pm, and happy hour starts at 2:00pm. By arriving shortly before 2:00pm, I qualified for both during my same visit. A heaping basket of chips and salsa arrived promptly, a delicious starter to stave off the hunger pangs since I was lunching later than typical. The chips were salty and crunchy, and the salsa had just a hint of spice. I ordered the lunch steak fajitas. The steak fajitas arrived sizzling and steaming from the grill. The fajitas consisted of a generous portion of steak plus caramelized onions, grilled green peppers, and grilled tomatoes. The steak was well-seasoned. The bell peppers were blistered slightly from the grill which added yummy flavor but were still crunchy not soggy. Skip the tomatoes; the tomatoes didn't stand up to the grilling and were a soggy mess. The fajitas were accompanied by rice, refried beans, shredded lettuce, Pico de Gallo, a generous dollop of sour cream, and three flour tortillas. After I used the tortillas to make three wrapped fajitas, I still had plenty of steak, veggies, rice, and beans left over, which I greedily attacked with a fork. The happy hour special is two-for-one margaritas, poured in the same mug. The margaritas are also very generous, and the resulting mug is huge! I loved that the restaurant doesn't skimp on good tequila for its happy hour; they made it with Cuervo. The amount of tequila was also generous; I could definitely taste the tequila. The server was friendly and generous in spirit. I asked if it was okay if I lingered (the margarita as I said was huge), and she was very welcoming. She informed me that she had plenty of space, and she had to be there anyway so to relax, read, and enjoy the break. read more

Good food and good service, but the prices go up and the menu selections are drastically reduced when there's an event in town, so I'll (sadly) avoid eating there during "fest" weekends and leave that to the unsuspecting tourists to get scalped. Otherwise, we enjoy it. read more

Time passes and things change. The last time I was here I couldn't believe how delicious the food was. This time? I was incredibly underwhelmed. First of all the service we got today was rushed and our server seemed she was just overwhelmed. As for the food, last I was here, I ate meat and now I don't. I realize that my choices will be incredibly limited and I do not expect a notoriously meat based food to cater to me. I was however, thrilled to find a part on the menu that catered to vegetarians. I wanted Enchiladas (I had them last time, I figured I could get them vegetarian). I asked our server what the vegetarian Enchiladas had in them, she said "Cheese".. uh hmm.. just cheese? Oh yea, no. That sounds lazy and well, kind of gross. What do the Chile rellenos have in them? Same. Oyy. No. So I asked what veggies the vegetarian Fajitas have.. "Onions, peppers, mushrooms, broccoli.." Ok, I order those. My hubby got a platter that had the enchilada, a chile relleno, and a chalupa. So flavor wise let me break this down lest anyone wants to judge because of our not eating meat: Guacamole was delicious. It was the only thing. Refried beans, bland - basically tasteless. Rice, was not good at all, some of it looked crunchy, not bottom of the pan crunchy, but sitting under a heat lamp crunchy. These are things on everyone's plate carnivores/vegetarians alike. Now for the veggie dishes. I should have known better. Broccoli, mushrooms and squash do not belong on this fajita dish. Not mexican, not authentic and change the flavor. My fajitas tasted like Chinese stir fry. I did not finish them. How about Peppers, onions and jicama? I tried my husband's food and oh no... you just can't stuff everything with cheese. It is just NOT. GOOD. How about offering black beans slightly mashed with some great seasonings instead of meat? Fill those chiles with a rice/black bean mixture. Something. Black beans not authentic? Well hey, neither are broccoli and summer squash so if you can change that up you can give us other options or not. If you are going to offer a vegetarian portion on the menu, just talk to people who are. Get ideas on how to change the recipes. All in all though, it seems this place is resting on their laurels. My daughters Chalupas in theory should have been delish. She also thought they were pretty bland. Sadly, now that I actually live close enough to come on a whim, I won't . I do hope they go back to their former flavors ... (pssst.. add Chilaquiles to the menu with salsa verde). read more

This place is awesome every time. The food is delicious Mexican cuisine and the owner and staff are attentive and friendly. Last night, the place was packed for dinner, but our server was on top of it! She made sure to frequently check in on us and we never had to wait for anything. I've been here a couple times and always find myself wanting it more after every visit. First of all, their queso is to die for! You are always greeted with the friendliest severs when sat down. I like to get the Al Pastor tacos. They are absolutely mouth watering and cooked perfectly. The food gets out very quickly and is always hot and fresh! I love the feel and look of the restaurant. I will say sometimes parking can be a challenge, so I would keep that in mind. This is an amazing place and will definitely be bringing friends and recommending it. read more

Been coming here for 17 years and this restaurant has the best service when dining in downtown Mount Dora. The servers listen and care. If a mistake is made, there is no problem in rectifying. No bad attitudes. No rude behavior. A warm welcome. A warm smile. Rare quality in this town. I'll give 4 stars only truly when they are due. This place is consistent and cares about the customer. Not just saying that. Read my other comments if you'd like and you'll see you only get the truth. The price is fair and reasonable, though not perfect. Improvements suggested are: They increased their prices a little too much on the entrees. The enchiladas could use a little scoop of beans and rice just to compliment the presentation. Food entrees are often found to be cheaper for me elsewhere. But that doesn't matter too much, because I get great food and service consistently. I feel welcome when I walk in and I am welcome here. Food is great. Portions are big. Drinks are fantastic too. Nice happy hour. Margaritas are good. Food is just a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Having just moved into the community, five days ago, my Mom and I went looking for a great Mexican Food restaurant - Fiesta Grande didn't disappoint!!! They sat us immediately, even though it was clear they were busy with inside dining and outside dining, and had us chips and salsa before we could blink! It was a little noisier than I would have expected for a Thursday night, but it's a fiesta grande, right?!? Our server was great, our food was fantastico, helpings were huge (look at that Wrapped Burrito!!!) and the price was ridiculously low...especially for the size and deliciousness of the meals. If you are looking for a good margarita and chips, Fiesta Grande is a good old fashioned Mexican restaurant worth a stop. But the food is not great. I visited last night for dinner. I had dined there one other time and the combo enchilada and taco plate was very blah. But I wanted to give them one more chance since any restaurant can have an off night. I ordered two fish taco plate with rice and beans. The rice and beans are okay but the fish on the tacos tasted like an entire shaker of salt had been used to "marinate" it and I could not eat them. The other diners at my table had various combinations and felt the food was sub par. We are not picky eaters by any means. Service was quick and pleasant, so I can only guess they are having trouble staffing the kitchen. I won't be back. read more

Was visiting Mount Dora to see the Christmas lights and we decided to have dinner. We saw this place as we were walking. It was a Sunday night and it was busy but didn't wait too long to be seated specially considering we had a party of 9. As you sit to look thru the menu the serve chips n salsa which the salsa was good but wished the chips would be served warm. The have happy hour specials(2 n 1) so tried the House margarita and it was a huge glass and was great! I had the fiesta burrito with steak and omg it was delicious!!! Steak was so good and the salsa verde with the cheese was to die for. My husbands tried the wrapped burrito with steak and it was really stuffed with steak, rice, beans, tomatoes, lettuce, and sour cream. My son tried the burrito deluxe with ground beef and it was not a favorite. The beef wasn't too good. Also tried the fiesta nachos and it was a perfect portion for an appetizer. Someone else in our party tried the carnitas and that was not too good. The pork wasn't seasoned enough and was a little too bland. But overall we had a great time and everyone enjoyed their meals. This is the best Mexican food in Mt. Dora. Don't even bother with the others. The best flavored chicken nachos I've ever had. You need to start with the Guacamole dip and the Cheese dip. We've tried the Enchiladas, the fajitas, the burrito, the carnitas tacos and they're all delicious. You need to also try the Molcajete Caliente it's basically a big hot bowl full of steak, chicken,shrimp, potatoes, onions, peppers topped with tomatillo sauce it was a bit spicy for me but delicious nonetheless. read more

Every time I go I get something different and the only thing that has disappointed us the fajitas, they are subpar. The guacamole is amazing!!! To my surprise, we have found an outstanding place smack dab downtown Mt Dora - totally unexpected, we actually sort of stumbled upon it our first night there while at the Bike Festival. This place IS the real thing, their service is excellent as it should be in any good Mexican place. Service with a smile, consistently good food and very very very reasonable prices. I was brought here for wife's birthday. I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food (I think Taco Bell is good enough) so when she chose this place to eat I was less than thrilled. We went on a Saturday in July around noon. When we got there if was pretty dead and the atmosphere seemed a bit slow. We ordered drinks and looked at the menu. It had everything I know how to order at a Mexican restaurant. I was fairly impressed. We got the guacamole for our complementary chips and it was AMAZING. Very well made. My wife's Margarita was a good sized mug, 32oz I believe and she enjoyed it. We both had the fajita platters and they were hands down the best Fajitas I have ever had. I got 6-7 4" fajitas out of my platter. We were so full from lunch we didn't eat dinner that night. The staff was very nice and brought the things we asked for quickly and accurately. It was reasonably priced for the amount of food we ordered. If we make it back out to Mt Dora again I would certainly eat here again. I highly recommend Fiesta Grande. read more

We always enjoy the food at Fiesta Grande. Yesterday was no exception. However, I am writing this review for a different reason. I work in the restaurant industry, and the restaurant I work for has been very responsible during the COVID-19 pandemic. I can't say that is true for many local restaurants based on my own dining experiences. I didn't know what to expect from Fiesta Grande on this front, but I must say that I was very impressed by the steps they have taken to keep all of us safe. The food was ready on time. Service was quick. However the food was mediocre. My dad and I both ordered the beef soft tacos. They were completely wrapped up in foil and after the five minute drive home they were soggy as hell, and the beef was super salty. The tostada was soggy as well. With the enchiladas that were ordered the sauce was not specified when ordering, between red and green sauce. Also the fact that a Mexican restaurant doesn't have soft corn tortillas for tacos as an option is kind of a joke. Other than that, the refried beans and rice were good. read more

Quesadillas are really good and personally cooked to my liking. The choriqueso? was really good. We had my good friends thirtieth birthday here, but I must admit that it is the "go-to" Mexican joint in Mt. Dora. My favorite is their house Margaritas! Now the happy hour (5-7pm I think...) is what you've got to be careful with because you order one regular size Margarita at regular price and they get you a giant 16oz beer mug filled to the top! I made the "mistake" of getting there early with my better half and after finishing one Marg proclaiming that "there wasn't any tequila in there, I'll have one more". What I should have known is how smooth their Margs are that they are strong and super smooth! After the second one (I'm six foot five and 225lbs) I must admit I was a bit sloppy but it held me all the way through ordering and finishing dinner. Dinner was the enchiladas supreme which gives you a variety of chicken, beef and cheese with beans and veggies. They are always delicious and to be honest I haven't gotten anything else here when I come. But everyone was always happy with their choices all the times that we've been. Lake County has a lot of Mexican restaurants. Like, a lot a lot. Still, I was worried when moving from Winter Garden where I proudly helped keep Taquitos Jalisco open for years, if I could find something comparable, or at least satisfactory. Voila! Fiesta Grande is pretty good. The fajitas are huge, albeit a little on the oily side, and the combo platters come really close to my beloved Taquitos. Their happy hour specials are amazing. Think giant margaritas and 2 for 1 beers. Even during regular ours, this place has great prices on alcohol. The food always comes out magically fast, even when it's crowded. read more
