I went to check their license # with the Contractor State Licensing Board and it should the number was affiliated with a Gen Bldg Contractor in SOLVANG, who has not been in business since 1985! Had an extremely tall palm tree in our backyard that needed to be removed to make way for an ADU. Called Anna and she was very responsive. They are licensed and insured which was good. Got a good quote and set up the date. They came on time (even a little early!), and got down to work very quickly. Fidel was very impressive! He's obviously quite experienced and knows what he's doing. His helpers were also very efficient and things moved along smoothly. It was a huge pile afterwards but they cleaned up everything and left things better than when they came! Highly recommend and would use them again for any big tree removal or trimming. Hired them to grind out a tree stump. Fidel asked for a picture and gave a quote of $250, asked if I had any other quotes and I said they were around that. Said he would do it for $230 and could do it the same day. Ended up having to reschedule for the next morning. He came and ground down the stump. My neighbor came over(because I was at work and had asked him to) and reminded him that there was going to be concrete going in and asked if he did it deep enough. He said yes. Over the weekend I started digging out the roots and uncovered the rest of the stump. He had ground it down to the same level as the sidewalk. No where near deep enough. Contacted Fidel again and he said he would come the next day, again had to reschedule. Told me he would be there at 7am AND he said "his boss" told him to charge me another $100. I didn't have much choice since the concrete guys needed it done before they could continue. He ended up showing up at 9am instead. I'm not even sure this company deserves a 1 star review. I provided pictures and requested a quote for a complete job. Initially it was the best quote for the work and was excited a company would do the work at the lowest estimate... Well you get what you pay for is the old saying right?.... Right. Because the estimate was lower than the other companies I reconfirmed the price they gave was for the exact work I asked for' a trim on 3 palms and 2 small tree pulls. They reverified the estimate was correct. Come the day of the services they told me they would be at my home around 1pm. They arrived at 2:15pm. No updates on why they were late... When they arrived, they told me the estimate I was given was wrong and that they wanted to take lunch... As they arrived to a new job??? I'm a fair person. When you run a business and you are running late it seems logical and decent or good practice to inform clients you may be running late. I understand this can be a dangerous job and my initial concern was that someone got injured on the job and why they weren't able to provide a timely notice why they're late. Nope... They just do what they want. No replies to my text for updates when they arrive... Because I have no plans of my own and my whole day is built around them because that's what they expect right? So now I have to cancel my appointments because they couldn't keep theirs. Please understand that if you choose these people to work with, you're on their time. Considering there are numerous other tree service providers that do the same job, I am now willing to pay for service that goes the extra mile, sticks to their price quotes, arrives on time, informs their clients if they'll be late, and takes lunch between jobs, not when they arrive to a new one. I was texting back and forth with Ana, and she provided one of the lowest estimates out there. I asked for their license number to make sure they are licensed, bonded, and insured and when I looked up that license number, it did not exist with the Contractors State License Board which lead me to believe this business is not licensed. I then texted her back and sure enough I was ghosted so that is a definite RED FLAG!!! Hire at your own risk and hopefully no one gets injured and goes after your homeowner's insurance and file a claim. In my front and back yard, Fidel's crew just planted (3) 24" box trees, trimmed my very tall pine and palm trees, transplanted rose and lavender bushes, and removed dying agaves and huge bougainvillea bushes. I reached out Friday, got a quote from them Saturday, and the job was done by Thursday, over the two days it wasn't raining this week. Felipe was SUPER polite the whole time. Phillip and another gentleman were doing the job for me to cut 3 trees. They are highly efficient and hardworking. They cut the tree stumps a few inches below concrete so I could pour concrete. They also did a removal for my neighbor as that huge tree extended all the way to my yard. They did a great job on a few of our trees last year and we called them back out again over the weekend because some neighbors in the condos above us were complaining our trees were coming over the fence.
