First visit and we're fans! Next to the Milk Bottle in Garland District. I had a BLT with tomato soup. My mom had a burger that was cooked to order. My sister had. a veggie burger and was happy with it. I tried the fries and they were shoestring and nicely crisped. The soup was a thin tomato broth, not a rich creamy bisque. It wasn't milky at all. I am not sure I have had tomato soup like that before but I enjoyed it. My sister didn't, she was hoping for creamier/more tomato thickness. I'd guess it's tomato and vegetable broth with some spices. Also! Our kind and cheerful waitress was lovely. We asked for fry sauce and not only did she bring us the ingredients, she made it for us. Great service, food and environment! We ordered the chicken fried steak and French toast combo. Ordered the home fries with gravy and onions, it was delicious! The French toast came with cinnamon sugar butter and two types of syrup, maple and blueberry. We were in Spokane hitting some junk stores and got hungry - drove by this place and noticed it was packed so. . . a good sign right? Went in and were immediately acknowledged and told to grab a table, then the guy who worked there, maybe a cook, not sure, started chatting with our granddaughter and made us all feel like we were regular customers, friends or neighbors. We all got burgers, which were just like the "old days" as I recall and were cooked and delivered to our table so fast we couldn't believe it. On a Saturday. At lunch time. The only negative thing to be said is that it's not a huge menu, so if you're looking for something unusual or are really picky, it might not work for you. For some reason I had never been here before and was delighted. My nephew was visiting and requested Fergusons for brunch before heading home...when he and his sister get together with their bad influence aunt we can be a little rambunctious and probably irritating to others. The decor was nostagic but modern. The colors are different but pleasant. Ordering was difficult and confusing with the sparcly trained waitress. Lost out on $2.00 by not subsituting the Sonneberg sausage on there #1 breakfast. We were greeeted by the owner and he thanked us for coming in. The owner was serving coffee, busing tables and plateing. Breakfast was served in a timely manner, while we stared at the blank Daily Special blackboard wondering why it wasn't a special day. I'm searching for Eggs Benedict with real hollendase sauce, not from a package or that the sauce has broke. I wish the eggs would have been poached and not over easy. The portion was the right size. The price was right. Missed not having a Bloody Mary and really missed the old Fergusons pancake. Checked out the bathroom. very clean, liked how the toilet was in its own privacy area. A little confusing when it was time to pay, looked around for the cash register because the guest check was left on the counter. It would have been nice if the waitress would have told us that she would be our cashier . I have been told that if the guest check is presented to you on a tray or in a folder then you pay the waittress, if the check is left on the table then you pay at the cash register. I love this cafe, until recently. There was a waitress that was just standing there on her phone, she is loud and rude. I don't think I will ever come to this place again. Aylisha was her name.
