double matcha

A good matcha spot in Irvine, especially if you prefer your matcha on the sweeter side! They have a great variety of options, and their cream top foam is really good. The matcha itself isn't the highest quality or the strongest in flavor, but it's still a solid spot when you're craving a sweet matcha drink and want a quick fix in Irvine!

This was my second visit to Febe. Both my friend and I got the Banana Pudding Matcha, mine without the cookie crumbles because of my gluten allergy. The matcha itself was not the best we've ever had but banana cream was definitely one of the better ones I've had. Overall the drinks were good, not life changing. Friendly staff and I appreciated that there was a decent amount of seating with both indoor and outdoor options!

Tried Febe coffee for the first time on Labor Day with a friend (they had regular hours). I had such a hard time deciding what drink to get because they have so many amazing options!! I opted for the matcha latte with biscoff cream - honestly don't think you could go wrong with any drink. The matcha was delicious and perfect - not too sweet (I did decrease the sweetness a bit for myself). I ordered the DOT coffee for my husband and he really enjoyed his drink as well. A fun take on the viral dot cake. They also offer pastries and a scrambled egg sandwich. I got the almond croissant for my toddler and my husband and I shared the scrambled egg sandwich - eggs were fluffy and the chipotle aioli gave a little extra flavor. Would definitely come back and try some different drinks!

Tried Febe Coffee for the first time and got the Spanish Latte with banana pudding. The banana pudding was SO good and honestly my favorite part! The coffee itself was a little too sweet and not as strong as I personally prefer--I love my coffee more on the strong Vietnamese coffee side. They did offer me an extra shot, which I appreciated, but I wanted to try it as-is since it was my first time. Overall, really good drink and great service! Lots of people there. It's a chill vibe. A few people, even with their laptops. I'd definitely come back and try it with an extra shot next time.

Black Sesame Hojicha

A cute place in Irvine with a variety of drinks to choose from. Plenty of parking in the front with tables both inside and outside the cafe. I'm a hojicha fan so I ordered the Black Sesame Hojicha. I liked the nuttiness of the drink and the sesame was a wonderful addition to the flavor profile for about the average price point of similar specialty drinks ($7). Something to note though: even though it was evening time, all of the tables were full so I had to take my drink to-go. Aiming to return and try more of their menu (and hopefully stay longer too)!

Great selection of drinks, I feel like they have a very interesting variety that can appeal to all kinds of tastes and palates. Super friendly and attentive customer service by the whole staff. Would like to try their double matcha, mango matcha and strawberry matcha next time. I did enjoy the ube and banana marchas. Not elite or perfect but very good. As for the coffee lotus eispanner with almond milk. Thought it was very balanced, not too sweet. It's a solid option. Oh and I think their logo / cup art is really freaking cool. I'm a fan. Cheers

Matcha Latte with Biscoff Cream (left)

I stopped by Febe Coffee with a friend and was intrigued by their diverse menu selection of drinks along with their secret menu. I opted for their Matcha Latte with Biscoff Cream on their secret menu. While there were plenty of people waiting, I was able to get my order quickly within 10 minutes. The matcha was smooth and earthy, while the Biscoff cream added a rich, sweet, and slightly spiced flavor that paired well with the matcha. The drink itself was on the more indulgent side like a dessert, but I still appreciated the quality of the matcha itself. Lots of unique drinks to try at Febe Coffee!

Cozy cafe perfect for chilling or studying! Quick and friendly service. I got the lotus einspanner. Fragrant and strong, but just a tad bit sweet! Overall pretty good!

Cute coffee shop that seems like a good place to get some work done. It's not that big overall but there was some seating both inside and outside. Overall thought this place was ok but I have friends that like the matcha here a lot so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing Panda latte: 3/5 it was ok but I don't think i'd order it again My boyfriend also got an ube matcha latte which he thought was just ok

Lotus & corn matcha!!

I have seen this place on social media and was hoping to try it one day. Was in the area and this place popped up. So I gotta stop by to try it. Ordered the lotus latte & corn matcha. None of the drinks really stand out. The lotus was biscoff and there was nothing special about it. I had better. Same with the corn matcha. The corn flavor wasn't really there...matcha itself was not bad. Cute place Prob will not drive outta my way for it...

The coffee place is located in a tiny neighborhood plaza with a small parking lot. There are only 4 or 5 tables inside and 5 tables outside, 2 with umbrellas. They're best know for their matcha drinks but I went a different direction, ordering an iced Madagascar vanilla latte and choosing a raspberry pistachio croissant from their pastry case. The interior had no available seating so I sat at an unshaded outdoor table for a few minutes. I appreciated the judicious amount of ice in the latte (I dislike it when places over-ice the drink). It was just okay with no flavor of vanilla detected despite their note that their vanilla syrup is housemade. The pastry was very not-so-great. It wasn't warmed (as requested) and was quite dry. I couldn't taste any pistachio, even with some crumbles on top, and the raspberry was minimal. It was oddly sliced horizontally in half. Based on other reviews, come for the matcha drinks otherwise it's a pass.

Matcha einspanner

This used to be my go-to matcha spot for a very long time. Now however, the quality has been consistently average. The matcha is not as creamy as before and not much matcha taste too, which I used to love at Febe (a specialty for me infact). I do hope they revert back to what it was a few months ago, as this current version is just not doing it for me :(

I tired their mango match and was absolutely amazing!! It's a cute little coffee shop with minister seating and parking Can get crowded fast

Is the matcha really bitter? Or does the cream balance the flavor out? Trying to avoid getting the drink with full sweetness because I don't know what added sugar is used.

The line gets long on the weekend and we waited about 30 mins before finally ordering but it was definitely worth the wait. There is limited parking in the lot but there is street parking available around the lot. I loved their mango matcha which had a delicious tasting mango puree. The coconut matcha was so refreshing with great tasting coconut water (which can really make or break a coconut matcha drink). And the triple matcha was so smooth and rich from the matcha latte base, delicious matcha cream top, and a refreshing matcha sorbet. All of their drinks were delicious and I would definitely recommend checking them out!

The flow is odd -- after waiting in line, you stand at the doorway and wait for the barista to call you inside. After ordering with the barista, you turn to the cashier and repeat your order and pay for your drinks. Then you wait outside (or sit in the small bench by the barista) and wait for your drink. I had the matcha level 2 (light syrup). It was good, but not mind-blowing. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but seeing the crazy lines would suggest some nirvana-like experience. My wife had a coconut coffee and it was good, but (again) nothing out of this world. This was a fun visit, but frankly I don't understand the hype. I'm glad others love it and I wish the business continued success!

To be honest, I find a lot of coffee shops to taste the same and repeat a lot of the same drinks. However, Phin Smith has its own signature through-line that makes it unique. I like that all the drinks have a sort of coconut or pandan very Vietnamese and tropical undertone. I have enjoyed all of the offerings here, both coffee and matcha, but especially the Oahu Joe. I can just feel like the whole team puts in so much effort into curating the menu, writing recipes, brewing the coffee, preparing the drinks. The staff are pretty professional and helpful. I really like the location and the space. It is located in historic downtown Garden Grove which has a unique charm that is distinctive or from the rest of city. It is very spacious and a good place to get some work done, study, chat, or just relax. The interior design is Spanish-inspired and rustic which is not the most common or popular coffee shop design style so I really like how distinctive and special it is. I will be coming back to Phin Smith for years to come and I genuinely recommend coming here.

The coffee house is in a larger plaza with lots of breakfast spots, so its PACKED. But, it makes sense because this place is so popular. Going in, I had no idea what to expect, but this place exceeded any expectations I could've had. The line area was organized and separated from the seating area, the line moved very fast, and the workers were so friendly! They had a large variety of drink and food options, but I ended up getting a hot Spanish latte and a banana muffin. They give you buzzers here which make the waiting process a whole lot less stressful. My drink and food came out quick, but while I was waiting I noticed that thing place has a variety of seating, from couch chairs, to group tables, to low seating outdoors. Everything feels nice and organized and there's so much attention to detail. Keep in mind it is very noisy here from how many people just sit down to hang out, and there's also a bar, which I think they serve matcha at? Now for my food, I got my banana muffin warmed. It's soft, fluffy, packs a lot of banana flavor, and most of all, I could tell it was baked fresh! This isn't one of those cafes that serves mediocre pastries, but will give you a hearty baked good to compliment your drink! My Spanish latte was perfectly hot, with the right touch of milk and spices. Surprisingly, it had a good amount of espresso, but not too much to be overpowering. Overall, my experience here was amazing and I would love to come back to try more of their baked goods! I alsoo really liked their lids, which come with a flippable stopper to keep your drink hot.
