I've reviewed Faubourg in the past and my experiences here have been exceptional. With the bar raised that high, I think it's good for the establishment to know about certain details that impact customer satisfaction. During this visit, the plating of some of the dishes was odd, as whomever did it felt the need to position the food right at the edge of the plates. That made it difficult to eat the dishes without some of the food spilling off the side. Had to push everything to center to avoid this. Again, this was very odd, as it happened on two entrees and one dessert dish and was the first time we've seen this at Faubourg. The lamb duo had a fantastic grilled flavor, but part of it (I believe it may have been shank meat) was loaded with so much salt that it overwhelmed the flavors and was a bit difficult to continue eating. The last comment is admittedly nitpicky, but worth mentioning, as they automatically added a 20% gratuity despite the menu stating that 20% is added for parties of 6 or more. We were a party of two and I was a bit annoyed that they did this. The check also had a place for "additional tip", which was a bit presumptuous after adding the 20%. Overall, the experience was positive with a few hiccups that prevent me from giving 5 stars. Still highly recommended. read more

Valentine Day 2025 Came here on this 'special day' as we hadn't been here in a while. For appetizers, my 'sil and bil' shared the jumbo crab cakes. My wife had the Barbajuans (swiss chard, ricotta, lemon) while I opted for the grilled octopus with lentils. We all enjoyed these tasty appetizers. My 'bil' opted for the "coq au vin" while my wife and 'sil' both had the Wild mushroom risotto & black truffle chicken (with sunchokes & tarragon). I had the beef duo (bavette/oxtail ragu, spinach, soubise). Yeah, I had to look up bavette and soubise too. Bavette is also known as 'flap steak'... kinda like flank steak. Not exactly sure what the difference is there. Soubise is a sauce made with butter, onions and cream. Even if you don't like onions... I think you'll love this wonderful sauce. Faubourg offers a nice selections of wine. We decided to go with the Daou cabernet sauvignon, which was one of the less expensive bottles I admit, but I've had this wine before and always enjoyed it. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for a drink at the bar before our dinner at Pastaramen. I had the Mezcal Meets Monk and he had the spicy pineapple margarita. Mine was good but I liked the margarita better. For our next round we had a Kiwisake and Pomona. The Kiwisake tasted a little like an apple pie which was interesting (in a good way). I really like the Pomona. We also got 1/2 a dozen east oysters to share. The bartender serving us was very nice. She let us alone and we didn't feel rushed which was nice since we had an hour and a half to kill before our dinner reservation. This restaurant is gorgeous! I am in love with the interior. There's several sections of seating and each has a different vibe/atmosphere. The food and cocktails are on the pricier side but this would be a great place for a fancy dinner. read more

Quite possibly my favorite vibe / decor of any restaurant in NJ; the "outdoor" area windowed in is just gorgeous, on a sunny day it's basically perfect. I don't care about vibes but I'm writing about it, that's how nice this area is. Otherwise food was great, this is a pricey place but it delivered. Incredibly fresh salad, desserts had enough tweaks that they felt original, lunch portions of entrees were reasonable. Main downside is our waiter was not great. Not going to take off a star for it, but it took like more than 15 minutes for him to even say hi, then some of the interactions were just a bit...off? Faubourg was my first experience at a French restaurant, and it was tremendous. The restaurant gives me the feeling of being whisked away to a private grotto, lemon trees are planted all around, while a babbling fountain soothes the roar of patron chatter. Our server was super nice and attentive, her recommendations were spot on when I did not know which wine I would like to have. Food was excellent, first experience having homemade butter as well, and boy it did not disappoint, I could almost taste the grass the cow ate, could say the same thing about the wagyu beef as well. The wagyu and short rib were cooked perfectly, Wagyu a beautiful medium rare and the short rib just dissolved with every bite. The guava cheesecake for dessert is a must in my opinion, if you have a birthday, anniversary or never tried French cuisine, this is the place to go! read more

On a busy night we were lucky to get a table w/o a reservation. Thanks to the kind manager he sat our large group and we had fast service for a busy Saturday evening. I came here for a dinner date on a Thursday night and it was such a great experience. The Gougeres were so tasty. They were flakey and warm which was a perfect compliment to the cheesey center. The chicken was so tender and literally fell off the bone. The sauce was flavorful and had a good hint of the red wine they used in the sauce. Been wanting to try this place since they opened and finally made it! Ever since my trip to France, I have been searching for a beef tartare that mirrored the ones I had while on vacation; and let me tell you, I will be returning for this beef tartare! It's a beautiful place with amazing decor. Definitely make reservations. They will ask if you want to eat inside or in the outside covered patio area. We started with the Tarte Flambee. It was cold and it was ok, not a big fan. So for brunch you can order A La Carte or just do the Prix-Fixe. I decided to do the prix-fixe and regretted it. My first course the Duck and Fig was so bland, I expected more. My 2nd course, the Crab Benedict was ok.. both did not wow me. My friend's Salmon & Squash was tasty. My other friend did like her Lobster roll and her fries were really really good. I'll be honest I will come back for dinner to give it another try. Dined in on a Tuesday evening with a few friends. We had reservations and were seated once the majority of the party arrived. We were seated in the patio area which has heaters and lights. There is a lot of greenery and the room was bright, which I loved. We ordered lychee martinis which were well made. For appetizers we had the heirloom tomato and feta salad and the bacon flat bread. Both were very good. Our server was Aaron who was friendly, attentive and was kind about us being a chatty and slow-to-order group. He recommended the oxtail dish so I ordered that cooked medium. My entree was PERFECT. So flavorful and cooked perfectly. Once my food came there was no more talking for me. Only eating, bliss, and joy. Great recommendation, Aaron. And great service. Very cozy setting on a night with rain. Had a reservation for 5:30 so the restaurant was not yet busy, but later in a hour plus many of the tables were filled - a couple of family parties. I had not been to Faubourg, but my friend has been here several times and enjoys the ambience and food. Looks like two buildings with a space in between were connected and the space in between was made into a lounge with a glass roof and many trees and plants. Gave the place a nice feeling. We started with drinks and two appetizers - babaganoush and tuna tartar & lime. Both were great starters and gave us time to catch up. Didn't really look at the menu for dinner until we started on the apps. I believe there was a bread basket as well, or maybe it was the toast from the babaganoush. Server brought carafes of sparkling water and plain water - which was a nice touch. I hate asking them to refill my glass while they are busy serving food or clearing tables. I had the Roasted chicken & Meyer lemon with broccolini, carrot, white bean in a tarragon jus. My colleague had one of the sirloin steaks on the menu. We had some sides including fingerling potatoes and super green spinach. My dish was nicely prepared, ample chicken - probably a chicken quarter, with the lemon sauce on the side in small dots circling the dish, sitting next to the bed of vegetables, also coated with the lemon sauce. Nice flavor, not too tart, but flavorful. Great on the fingerling potatoes and spinach sides. Server was attentive, but not too overbearing. Could see the kitchen in the back with the chefs moving through the dishes. No dessert, but enjoyed the restaurant thoroughly. Will try to visit again. I did not look to see if there was close parking, besides on the street. We parked across the street behind the building in a municipal lot with meters that accepted credit card. OK, but it was raining. No valet offered, no signage saying parking available around back. Definitely a nice place for a quiet dinner. read more

I was so surprised that this place is so baby friendly! I was previously here for late night drinks and it's such a different vibe than brunch. Brunch was great, they set up my 8m old with a high chair and crayons - he's a little young for that but it was cute. And he had his own little place mat too. Our server offered to wash his container after I finished feeding him (brought his own baby mush since he's still new to solids). Best service ever! Great ambiance, wasn't too loud and baby loved all the open glass ceiling. French toast was very good, and the crab Benedict was amazing. AMBIANCE This place has a beautiful ambiance with a see through roof it really brightens up the place.Well, half of the place the other half is more dark and I guess romantic for some. SERVICE The service was disappointing we had a reservation and were informed the kitchen would close so we had to put in an order soon or we would be left with the happy hour menu. I think that should be told to you when making the reservation or not allowing reservations to be make so close to the kitchen closing. In addition our server disappeared for long times and that's weird since he was in a rush to get our order. Then he disappeared all together halfway through our meal and a new server took over. I wish he would have a least communicated to us that he was leaving so we could've gave him a tip. The new server was rude and not as accommodating. All in all very disappointing. FOOD AND DRINKS The lobster roll was out of stock again and it seems every time we come it's out. Two of the dishes we got were delicious the branding and the beef bourguignon. The steak frites for me was subpar. I asked for medium and it was overcooked and everything else was okay. The drinks were good the Ohh Rhuby, Spicy Pineapple Margarita, and an espresso martini. This was my first time coming to this place. One of my best friends is a local and brought me here. Let me tell you now this place didn't disappoint. As soon as I walked in, I loved the vibe. I was greeted by a nice guy dressed well. I looked around, and I saw a lot of natural light, natural air, plants, and beautiful lighting. At this point, I already knew I was in for a treat, lol. I'm a sucker for a great aesthetic. The service is great. The people here take great care of you. They make sure to check in promptly and try their best to accommodate you as best as they can. Out food came out in under 10 minutes, and it was all cooked perfectly. Speaking of food? The food was CRACK. Lol, I mean that in a good way. My branzino was probably the moistest, perfectly cooked branzino I think I've ever had. French people know how to cook a fish! The garnish it came with complimented it perfectly. My friend got the shrimp romesco and he loved it. Although we didn't get there in time for the lunch menu and had to settle with the mid-day menu, it was still worth the visit. Faubourg provides visitors with an elegant dining experience from start to finish. When dining, you can choose to sit outdoor or indoor. Both seating sections are spacious and nicely decorated. I've been to Faubourg for brunch and thoroughly enjoy their menu options. You can opt to do a prix fixe menu which includes one drink and two courses. It's a decent amount of food, which is quite delicious! Upstairs the restaurant has a lounge area where you can order apps and drinks. Similar to my brunch experiences, the lounge service is excellent. For brunch or dinner, I definitely recommend making reservations online as it does become quite busy. Hands down this is the perfect spot to get together with friends or for a date night. I look forward to visiting again soon. read more

Quite disappointed. I came here once for drinks at the lounge upstairs and really enjoyed the atmosphere (love the cafe lighting on the inside and the running water - brings the outside to the inside). I saw a sign on the bathroom room for a Valentine's Day memo. Made a reservation for my husband and I thinking this would be a very sweet place for Valentine's. Unfortunately, as many restaurants do to make a profit, they cram tables together to hold a lot of reservations. My husband and I were seated in the middle of 2 other couples - two inches apart on each side. For a holiday that's supposed to be more intimate, having other people breathing down my neck doesn't feel romantic. Ordered a white cosmo, but got a pink one (didn't say anything but I still like regular cosmos). The fish I ordered was fine - same thing for my husband, his steak was just fine. Not blown away for these price points. Would only come back for the lounge/drinks. Do not feel inspired to come back for the food. read more
