It's a beautiful place with amazing decor. Definitely make reservations. They will ask if you want to eat inside or in the outside covered patio area. We started with the Tarte Flambee. It was cold and it was ok, not a big fan. So for brunch you can order A La Carte or just do the Prix-Fixe. I decided to do the prix-fixe and regretted it. My first course the Duck and Fig was so bland, I expected more. My 2nd course, the Crab Benedict was ok.. both did not wow me. My friend's Salmon & Squash was tasty. My other friend did like her Lobster roll and her fries were really really good. I'll be honest I will come back for dinner to give it another try. Dined in on a Tuesday evening with a few friends. We had reservations and were seated once the majority of the party arrived. We were seated in the patio area which has heaters and lights. There is a lot of greenery and the room was bright, which I loved. We ordered lychee martinis which were well made. For appetizers we had the heirloom tomato and feta salad and the bacon flat bread. Both were very good. Our server was Aaron who was friendly, attentive and was kind about us being a chatty and slow-to-order group. He recommended the oxtail dish so I ordered that cooked medium. My entree was PERFECT. So flavorful and cooked perfectly. Once my food came there was no more talking for me. Only eating, bliss, and joy. Great recommendation, Aaron. And great service. Very cozy setting on a night with rain. Had a reservation for 5:30 so the restaurant was not yet busy, but later in a hour plus many of the tables were filled - a couple of family parties. I had not been to Faubourg, but my friend has been here several times and enjoys the ambience and food. Looks like two buildings with a space in between were connected and the space in between was made into a lounge with a glass roof and many trees and plants. Gave the place a nice feeling. We started with drinks and two appetizers - babaganoush and tuna tartar & lime. Both were great starters and gave us time to catch up. Didn't really look at the menu for dinner until we started on the apps. I believe there was a bread basket as well, or maybe it was the toast from the babaganoush. Server brought carafes of sparkling water and plain water - which was a nice touch. I hate asking them to refill my glass while they are busy serving food or clearing tables. I had the Roasted chicken & Meyer lemon with broccolini, carrot, white bean in a tarragon jus. My colleague had one of the sirloin steaks on the menu. We had some sides including fingerling potatoes and super green spinach. My dish was nicely prepared, ample chicken - probably a chicken quarter, with the lemon sauce on the side in small dots circling the dish, sitting next to the bed of vegetables, also coated with the lemon sauce. Nice flavor, not too tart, but flavorful. Great on the fingerling potatoes and spinach sides. Server was attentive, but not too overbearing. Could see the kitchen in the back with the chefs moving through the dishes. No dessert, but enjoyed the restaurant thoroughly. Will try to visit again. I did not look to see if there was close parking, besides on the street. We parked across the street behind the building in a municipal lot with meters that accepted credit card. OK, but it was raining. No valet offered, no signage saying parking available around back. Definitely a nice place for a quiet dinner. read more

Quite disappointed. I came here once for drinks at the lounge upstairs and really enjoyed the atmosphere (love the cafe lighting on the inside and the running water - brings the outside to the inside). I saw a sign on the bathroom room for a Valentine's Day memo. Made a reservation for my husband and I thinking this would be a very sweet place for Valentine's. Unfortunately, as many restaurants do to make a profit, they cram tables together to hold a lot of reservations. My husband and I were seated in the middle of 2 other couples - two inches apart on each side. For a holiday that's supposed to be more intimate, having other people breathing down my neck doesn't feel romantic. Ordered a white cosmo, but got a pink one (didn't say anything but I still like regular cosmos). The fish I ordered was fine - same thing for my husband, his steak was just fine. Not blown away for these price points. Would only come back for the lounge/drinks. Do not feel inspired to come back for the food. read more

I came here and made a reservation for a late lunch. AMBIANCE This place has a beautiful ambiance with a see through roof it really brightens up the place.Well, half of the place the other half is more dark and I guess romantic for some. SERVICE The service was disappointing we had a reservation and were informed the kitchen would close so we had to put in an order soon or we would be left with the happy hour menu. I think that should be told to you when making the reservation or not allowing reservations to be make so close to the kitchen closing. In addition our server disappeared for long times and that's weird since he was in a rush to get our order. Then he disappeared all together halfway through our meal and a new server took over. I wish he would have a least communicated to us that he was leaving so we could've gave him a tip. The new server was rude and not as accommodating. All in all very disappointing. FOOD AND DRINKS The lobster roll was out of stock again and it seems every time we come it's out. Two of the dishes we got were delicious the branding and the beef bourguignon. The steak frites for me was subpar. I asked for medium and it was overcooked and everything else was okay. The drinks were good the Ohh Rhuby, Spicy Pineapple Margarita, and an espresso martini. Faubourg provides visitors with an elegant dining experience from start to finish. When dining, you can choose to sit outdoor or indoor. Both seating sections are spacious and nicely decorated. I've been to Faubourg for brunch and thoroughly enjoy their menu options. You can opt to do a prix fixe menu which includes one drink and two courses. It's a decent amount of food, which is quite delicious! Upstairs the restaurant has a lounge area where you can order apps and drinks. Similar to my brunch experiences, the lounge service is excellent. For brunch or dinner, I definitely recommend making reservations online as it does become quite busy. This was my first time coming to this place. One of my best friends is a local and brought me here. Let me tell you now this place didn't disappoint. As soon as I walked in, I loved the vibe. I was greeted by a nice guy dressed well. I looked around, and I saw a lot of natural light, natural air, plants, and beautiful lighting. At this point, I already knew I was in for a treat, lol. I'm a sucker for a great aesthetic. The service is great. The people here take great care of you. They make sure to check in promptly and try their best to accommodate you as best as they can. Out food came out in under 10 minutes, and it was all cooked perfectly. Speaking of food? The food was CRACK. Lol, I mean that in a good way. My branzino was probably the moistest, perfectly cooked branzino I think I've ever had. French people know how to cook a fish! The garnish it came with complimented it perfectly. My friend got the shrimp romesco and he loved it. Although we didn't get there in time for the lunch menu and had to settle with the mid-day menu, it was still worth the visit. I made a reservation through Resy three days in advance of my planned time to dine. I indicated in the notes we were bringing a puppy in a bag and made the res. to sit on their outdoor patio. 20 mins before, while en route, the restaurant called to say they wouldn't accommodate the puppy -who would have been in a bag the entire meal outside. Totally unacceptable to wait until we were within a 30 min. window to let us know. The manager wouldn't even talk to me - making another employee do the "dirty" work of telling me. We had to pivot to another restaurant, and despite having been to Fauborg before, we will not be back. In fact, the idea they would charge me if we canceled within a certain window, is infuriating. We went there for brunch on Saturday. We had a reservation which I would suggest. A gentleman at the front desk greeted us with a warm smile and we were shown to our table. Almost immediately we were given bottles of tap and sparkling water (no extra charge for the sparkling water) for which most restaurants would charge extra. Saturday and Sunday they have a brunch menu with A-La-Carte and Prix-Fixe choices. We had Eggplant Baba Ganoush yogurt, sumac & lavash. It was beyond great. When it came time to choose a main course my wife wanted a salmon dish which was on the Prix-Fixe menu, our wonderful waitress said no problem. I ordered the Seared Tuna Niçoise, bibb lettuce, confit tomatoes, and olives. It was extraordinary. We are rather fussy eaters and go out of our way when we get a great recommendation. My only other comment regarding our desert was that it was very small for the price charged. Although I must say that the overall cost for a wonderful place like Faubourg in Montclair was very reasonable. It will be one our favorite go to places when we are in the area. read more

I brought my best friend here to celebrate her birthday, wanting to give her a great dining experience. There was nothing inherently wrong with our time here, but the food fell short of my expectations. We got the chickpea panisse for appetizer, sirloin steak, and beef duo. I've seen pictures of the chickpea panisse in many of the reviews and while the presentation was lovely, the taste was not memorable. My friend enjoyed her steak, but the beef duo was quite average. Either they forgot that I noted in my reservation it was her birthday, or they do not do anything special for guests choosing to celebrate a birthday at their restaurant. Regardless, this is not a restaurant I would come to again unless someone I am with is deeply interested in trying it. Have not been here in a long time but really had a nice experience here. Hailey S was amazing. She had an immediate friendly vibe and actually reminded my wife and I of a friend of ours. She was attentive, kind and personable. The jazz band was really wonderful and set the environment for a very nice, adult but welcoming ambiance. Love this place and worth every penny. I do miss the Banh Mi being on the menu, but the Lobster Roll, Oysters and the Tarte Flambé are as amazing as always. Will absolutely be back! read more

Stopped in for an early Sunday supper. Very nice atmosphere\design with multiple dining rooms. Casual but contemporary. Customers of all ages. Multiple menus depending on the day & time you visit. Street or public parking. Staff is very nice but seemed a little disconnected on our visit. Prices are what they are for a French bistro. Great bar selections with good cocktails, beers, wine. THE FOOD --Grilled octopus with lentils & tahini was light & flavorful. Best of all the octopus was cooked perfectly. --BARBA JUANS, (look like 5 small fried ravioli) stuffed with swiss chard, ricotta, and lemon. Small but packed with immense flavors. Wow. I wish the "shell" was softer though; it was a little hard on the outside. --BEET & ARUGULA salad with farro, pomegranate, feta, pine nut gremolata was a hit at the table. Personally I'm not a fan of pomegranate. Most of us had a dish not currently on the menu: Lemon Sole with Cauliflower & Hen-of-Woods mushrooms which was not only excellent but a good portion. Faubourg has been around for a while. Nice place for all occasions, even to just grab a drink and some Bar Food. Or a stop off before ( or after) a show at The Wellmont. It's Easter and we were late for our reservation; however, the maitre'd was professional and got us seated quickly. The service, the food, and location of our table was exquisite. Our server got us in and out quickly but it was enough time to enjoy our berry parfait, steak and eggs, quinoa salad with avocado and (moist and perfectly seasoned) chicken, and flaky puff pastry chicken pot pie. Dessert was a basket of Madeleines and an apple tart. Everything was delicious and will celebrate every holiday here. I've lived in Montclair for nearly 3 years and I've always wanted to come here. I have to say I was a bit underwhelmed. We came on a Monday night. It was the day after Mother's Day and ironically they were completely out of bread, which seems strange. Regardless, I thought the ambience was OK. It was a bit noisy. The service was excellent, but there was some confusion in the beginning regarding who was looking after us. We found the musical choices to be quite odd as they were playing "classic rock" at 9:30 pm at night on a Monday!? (huh!?!), which seemed oddly out of place and bizarre, to both my friend and I. The food was mostly delicious. I didn't really care for the grilled octopus. The cocktails were also nice, but I think at the end of the night what seemed to apparent to both my friend & I was that the value for the money is just not worth it, plus the ambience is a bit weird to me, personally. I honestly don't have any interest of going back here ever again, it's just not my cup of tea and a bit of a scene. The place is so big and not very intimate. To be honest, I was kind of disappointed. I've had better meals and enjoyed myself more in a restaurant that cost half the price. I don't think I would recommend this place to a friend. read more

WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE!!!! My wife and I came here for brunch and we both love it. This place is very special and great for couples, date and or family. The vibes are that of a city loft type of spot. The menu is spectacular and service is on point. My wife and I were treated like royal and they even gave us a complementary drinks and desserts. Bread course was delicious as well and honestly was my favorite part of the meal. But my salmon was barely cooked, the Brussels sprouts were drenched in sauce, and somehow the whole dish was lacking in flavor. Overall it was a very pricey meal for not a lot of payoff.
