Ambiance definitely a 10/10, walking in you feel like your being teleported into a different world, place is truly beautifully decorated giving off a lavish Alice in wonderland vibe, very whimsical, walking in had high expectations. Food was just okay-I love the concept of the restaurant and the menu though-- limited items and options to chose from and an ever changing menu from what the waitress let us know, sounds fun. But sadly the food was just okay. Food was lacking in flavor, potato's dumpling were cooked perfectly but only tasted like dough felt like the potatoes filling forgot to make an appearance, Shaved Brussel Caesar was fresh and had a nice crunch, The Fava bean soup though was flawless, rich flavors and just the right amount of citrus to balance it all together, kudos to the chef on that soup. But my partner ordered the fish. Which we just questioned if should smell as fish as it did (luckily it didn't taste fishy but the smell was very overpowering) and I had the skirt steak which was cooked beautifully-but was lacking seasoning and salt. For the price and being such a limited menu, the food didn't seem worth the price. I love the concept but maybe we came on a bad night. I've never been so depressed after a meal. Everything is so pretty here and the ambience is amazing. I'm sure if you just come here for drinks it's also amazing. This is the first time that Yelp has left me so disappointed based on the reviews. Everything here was so heavy and every single dish did not taste good. The bucatini was supposed to be a pesto pasta but was in a heavy thick cheesy cream that was completely in edible. The brisket toast had a good flavor but it was impossible to eat more than one or two bites because it was so heavy. I think one of the issues here as well is that there is only one texture to everything and the texture is soggy. The summer squash which I thought would be a light and refreshing dish was also soggy and overcooked. That paired with a really rich sauce made everything just taste like mush. The sauce also was incredibly overpowering. The rabbit was OK, but also pretty inedible and we didn't finish any dish that we had here. The service as well was horrible. Our server acted like she didn't even care. It's one room and it took me five times to try to wave her down before she even noticed anything. And, it was not busy. I'm not sure if these people even eat their food to be honest because I can't imagine why on earth the food is so bad. It's also disappointing because the presentation is really nice. OUTSTANDING MEAL WITH AMAZING SERVICE!! i stopped by here on new years day and had their new years menu. i tried every dish on their new year's menu and each one was different and delicious. it's really hard to name a favorite but i was absolutely blown away by the oysters!! i was also pleasantly surprised with the chicken liver mousse. i would never order it, but it was very good. their menu is ever-changing which i love because it means something new to try! they also have fun and exciting cocktails. the spellbound is a very popular one since it is aesthetically pleasing. the inside is nicely decorated and is very chic. it's a great place for a nicer meal. plus, the service was on point. the staff was very helpful and explained each dish beautifully. if you're in the duluth area, definitely try this spot!! even if you're not, it's worth a trip here. i cant wait to come back and try other dishes! read more

Great service and lovely ambiance but the food was a bad miss from start to finish. We tried the tuna, mushrooms appetizer, bolognese, and short rib. Nothing was particularly good except the sea island peas in the tuna dish. The bolognese was unedible with extremely al dente pasta. The short rib was somehow tough and not very flavorful and the mushrooms a seeming play on tempura that failed. The cocktails, however, were pretty good but not exceptional. Despite the lovely and cheerful service, I cannot recommend falling rabbit, especially at this price point. read more

You see this type of restaurant in Midtown or downtown. This will be a good date night/anniversary spot if you live around Duluth (or anywhere really) Oyster was $2 each (pretty good price) Entrees were a little salty but at a level where I can let it pass because they were still tasty. (Hold back on the salt a little) Entrees also took a while to come out compared to the apps but I kinda gave it a pass since they just opened yesterday; and also management and server apologized and followed up regularly with updates on them. Beautiful restaurant. I've visited for happy hour drinks and appetizers and brunch now. Both experiences were great. Staff was attentive on both visits. The have a nice open patio, but I prefer the space inside. They have a good selection of cocktails and wine. We enjoyed the grilled oysters, fresh oysters, and tempura mushrooms on one visit. The oysters were great, it would be nice having some mignonette for the fresh ones.The portion for the mushrooms was perfect for the group to share. I've lived in this general area for years and never even noticed this place. The name threw me off as I didn't make a connection with it as a restaurant. I really wish I found this place earlier. The food, atmosphere, drinks, service, location, and everything in between was absolutely wonderful. Super cute date night environment if you wanted to impress someone without having to drive into Atlanta. I highly recommend making reservations as seating is limited and it is located I n the busy downtown Duluth area. Dress code is not enforced (from what I noticed) but every man had on slacks or jeans at a minimum with collared shirts and some sport coats. I can't say they are "pricey" because you are getting very high end dishes that justify the price. I don't mind paying for quality. Enjoy! read more

I really really like this place!! I've been a couple times for Sunday brunch and once for "hoppy" hour (4pm-6pm). I'm obsessed with the vibe and decor. It's very southern charm meets trendy. The staff are super attentive and friendly. I have really enjoyed everything at Falling Rabbit. My crumpets were slightly burnt and the bacon was super greasy (- a plus for most!). PROS: Unique restaurant with nice ambiance, great food, and amazing hostess. It sits in a very nice location since you can walk around and visit the local shops. Also, you can make reservations in advanced if you prefer to not wait. CONS: Not sure the vibe they are going for as the music shouts very casual however the food is more fine dining. In addition, we sat at the bar which felt much more casual than anticipated. One of the bartenders spent majority of his time flirting with one of the patrons and was quiet aggressive/assertive when serving us rather than welcoming and friendly. Price is okay - drinks/food are on the pricier end however it's worth the try (duck wings, pork belly). Overall, I would recommend visiting at least once however unlikely we will return for a second look. EDIT: reading other reviews, it seems they have a track record of having subpar service and could use attention in this department. read more

"Big" news! They increased the portions due to some of the feedback. In our recent revisit, the portions were definitely bigger. We were all very satisfied. But am I crazy to wish the portions were small again? In hindsight, the smaller size made the food more "special." But either way, food remains fantastic. Service is great. Finally got to try this place out and I loved it! From the service to the food my experience was nothing short of amazing. Cocktail: I got the Persephone because it's a gin based drink (and I love gin) and it's probably one of the better cocktails I've had at restaurants. The ratios were just perfect and made for an excellent dinner drink. Food: we decided to order the tempura mushroom as a starter and I honestly couldn't even tell it was mushroom but it tasted amazing. For the entree, I got the triangoli and my friend got the beef cheeks and we both loved our choices. The portion was, in my opinion, just right. It wasn't overwhelming. I normally can't finish my food but I finished every last bit and even had room for dessert. For dessert we got the blood orange custard and the panna cotta. Both were very refreshing and a great ending to an amazing dinner experience. You can tell they pay attention to detail and it shows that they take pride in their work. Wow - so much to gush about with this new eatery! The name, the whimsical decor, the menu, the craft cocktails, the turquoise velvet cushion seating... As the FIRST reviewer stated: the holy trifecta of ambience, service & cuisine make it a five-star experience. Kicking off with luscious libations, I ordered the simply divine Wonderlust: refreshing, fruity, bubbly. My friend J ordered the Hat Trick, a tad sweet, but still a clever combo of flavors: bourbon, amaretto and FIG JAM! Her husband C ordered the Sour Whiskers. Our November 27th menu offered a three course dinner option, with the chef recommending one from each. I wasn't famished so I only ordered something from the second course menu. From "I" -- C & J ordered Reuben Bao & Grilled Oysters. Reuben Bao features standard reuben sandwich ingredients inside a yeast leavened bun aka bao w/ a side of Russian dressing-inspired sauce. J said when she closed her eyes she could swear she was eating a Reuben. Grilled Oysters equalled three oysters served on a bed of various colored salt/pepper corns. C said they could have left the salt out but otherwise, super fresh. From "II" -- J ordered a Crab Caesar, with shredded kohlrabi as the "romaine," sprinkled with crab, a good dose of cilantro & a dollop of trout roe. My Grits dish delivered a hearty portion of beef cheeks (reminded me of brisket), sitting in a moat of larger grits (maybe stone ground?), flavored with an "XO" sauce aka fish sauce. Thin won ton style potato strips topped this creation. Hearty! From "III" -- C ordered the Skirt Steak, a medium rare piece of meat, with a nice char to it, & a spicy punch from the shishito peppers. The Chocolate Cremeaux tasted like a Pot de Creme but no pot - a thick, rich blob of chocolate cream on a plate. Accompanying sauces were delightful. J thought it would be nice served in a container, maybe even a spun sugar edible cup. Two of us ordered the Blood Orange Custard. The menu didn't describe this as a FROZEN custard, so we were baffled: we expected a custard pie in a pie crust w/ buttermilk cream. However, we wolfed it down because...blood orange frozen custard + hibiscus + oatmeal cookie shards + sweet buttermilk sauce = superb finale. Expect petite portions but prepare to be stunned by artistic presentation and nuance of flavors. The food both blew me away and let me down so I am still stuck with mixed emotions about our dining experience so jumping in. AMBIANCE Even before coming into this restaurant I couldn't help but notice the unique decor and the golden chairs that were outside in the patio area. That alone was picture-worthy in my opinion. When we came inside, it was even more immaculate. I loved the color scheme and the unique rabbit decorations around this place. It actually reminded me of a prime TV show Utopia. KILLER APPS The first thing I tried here was the oysters. I gotta say - I've tried oysters in many places around the world but this was by far my favorite. It wasn't just raw opened but seemed to be cooked (possibly steamed) and had a ton of flavor. Adding in the pink salt made it so much better. Nancy (thattravelingfoodie) got the beet salad which was also done very well and was a very unique take on a beet salad. We also tried the foie gras. ENTREES....MEH I think one thing that made things strange for me was that I was totally blown away on the appetizers that I expected a ton of flavor out of the entrees but didn't really get that wow factor that I expected. I got the grits because who doesn't love wagyu and to add it to grits just made sense. the issue I had with this dish is that there was no taste whatsoever. Another person at the table also got the same dish and we both agreed, it was edible for sure but definitely not something we would order again. I think a pinch of salt could have made a world of a difference with this dish. The foie gras wrapped steak seemed a bit overcooked to the point where it was very chewy. The spaetzle was great - I will say that our friend really enjoyed it and it came out looking super delish. Guinea Hen had a great presentation as well. My wife and I enjoyed a memorable Valentine's dinner at the Falling Rabbit. We have been looking forward to eating here for some time and it didn't disappoint. We felt welcomed and were kindly greeted by the hostess. My only complaint, and we certainly adapted by making small talk with our neighbors, was being seated inches away from other couples on both sides of our table. It was not very intimate and we needed to near whisper so we weren't overheard. I understand there isn't much space in the entire restaurant and there is money to be made on Valentine's Day, but there was zero privacy. Our server, Kaitlyn, was very friendly and knowledgeable. She was on top of her game the entire two hours we were there. We ate all four courses, each one better than the previous. The rabbit croquette was cooked to perfection and melted in our mouths. Being of Italian decent from the North, it was nice to see it on top of homemade cavatelli. We also tried four different drinks and each one was handcrafted to perfection. The decor is so visually appealing that it gave us ideas for our own home. We got here at 6:30, ordered appetizers and entrees by 6:45, we told the server we had somewhere to be afterwards. By 7:30, we asked about our food, she said the pork chop we ordered took a long time to cook. The food finally came out at 7:50, an whole hour after we ordered. My steak was over cooked and the pork chop was very dry. We had to send it back and we didn't have time to wait for them to recook it. Luckily for us, we ordered two appetizers (charcuterie board - small and not worth mentioning, grilled oysters - just okay) and at least got to eat something before having to leave. Crab salad was a large portion - could easily split between two. The main entrees - fish was good, but the pasta was beautiful. Duck was overly salty, but service easily corrected and made it well. But the quantity is only fit for a French person with less the 80 lb. I had to had dinner again home (after 3 courses). You can fit the entire ENTREE in 3 table spoons. My impression is that they rely on people eating 3 courses (easily over $80 only in food per person + tax + service) to be ok. Do not expect less than $150 per person if you eat as a normal person. read more

What's a lady to do ona Friday night but stroll in downtown Duluth and land in the Falling Rabbit! This place is quaint, easily accessible near a parking garage and sits on the corner where all the locals such as myself can go to for local fare with friendly vibes and nice ambiance. The decor is gorgeous and pairs well with the food and drinks. Our waiter Max went over and beyond by going over each dish with stated ingredients to point us in the right direction for a great meal. I was so excited to try this restaurant based on the eclectic decor and good reviews. I was very disappointed, especially at the price point. I'm not usually one to write a review, but with how much we paid and the quality we saw in the dishes, I wanted to warn others about this place. I really enjoyed my first drink - Gimme Clarity. Our server told us it was her favorite, and it was great recommendation. We had the grilled oysters and fritto miso for our first course. The oysters were ok although the gooseberry was too much for the dish. The fritto miso was inedible. It was just huge chunks of unidentifiable fried vegetables and a weird sauce. The vegetables were super uncooked and way too hard to eat. After the first course, I ordered a drink that was served with liquid nitrogen (not specified on the menu) and all the nitrogen was in a soap bubble. The whole drink tasted and smelled like soap and I had to send it back. The second course was a duck salad that was pretty good, but the eggs had been doused in way too much vinegar. There was weird clumps of sauce on the plate that weren't obviously a part of the dish. The flavor was ok but an overall weird dish. Our third course was good. We had the spaetzle and ravioli, both of which were delicious and nicely presented. There's no social distancing in the restaurant which was a little unnerving. The tables are really close together and we both felt weird about it. Our service was great though, and our entrees were good. I just think at the price point, they should be more intentional about their presentation and execution. Im happy to drop some cash on an excellent meal, but it seems like they're still working out their food a bit. I think they have potential but are sorely lacking in food. read more

Memorable After eating at Falling Rabbit for the third time, I can't believe it took me this long for me to give a review. It is located in Downtown Duluth. Friendly greeting every time I go in. Interior design is beautiful from the color of the seats to the pictures on the wall. The menu constantly changes which makes me keep going back to try new things. The menu has 4 sections starting from appetizers to desserts. I always get 1-2 items from each section. Service is superb. I still remember the second time I visited, during my meal, the manager informed me that one of the food items I ordered was sold out for the night and already brought 2 other items in that section with her and gave it to me for free. That was too generous and something I will always remember. All the drinks I've tried so far have been great. Prices justify the quality of the food and drinks. Overall, I can't say enough good things about this restaurant, definitely a place to try! read more

If I ate only with my eyes, Falling Rabbit would receive 5 stars, but since my taste buds were involved I give it 4 stars. 3.5 stars actually, but I rounded up. Perhaps my expectations were a bit high after seeing the dishes and cocktails so beautifully presented, but as soon as it hit my tongue, they all fell a bit flat. Dined here with my wife and a friend last night and we all started with cocktails, my wife ordered the blossoming revival which came with a giant smoke filled bubble, the presentation was stunning, and the drink itself was not bad. All our cocktails were "not bad". That would be the theme for the night, everything we ate was "not bad". We had an assortment of starters, they wagyu brisket came out tasting like pulled pork on toast. Not the preparation I was expecting from a nicer cut of beef. My favorite was the Brussels sprouts, decent amounts of flavor and depth, it reminded me of a Thai dish called num tuk, but I digress. My wife enjoyed the crudo the most, while I thought it was a bit lacking, but not bad. The tempura mushrooms were also not bad. For our main we shared the Bavette Steak. A little lacking in flavor and a little over cooked for my taste, but not bad. We ordered a few more cocktails and called it a night. It's nice to have some nicer restaurants in suburbia, and falling rabbit definitely isn't bad. The menu is ever changing so maybe it was an off night.
