Food is amazing. I dream about the Nam Dua (mushrooms, greens, noodles). The mackarel spicy green curry is a close second. And if you like duck, the duck neck is so succulent and innovative as a dish. Last dish below is the beef skewers The only downside is they were out of everything when we were there - the black bass, the orange wine we wanted a second glass of, the hemp kombucha and one other item. It was pretty awkward read more

Came for a dinner date on a Saturday before Company XIV. We got the crab noodles, beef skewers and the pork shoulders and it was all so good! The crab noodles had chunks of crab and was so tangy and tasty. The beef skewers came as 3 and was so good. Pork shoulders was probably my favorite dish which was surprising. My only negative star was the drinks. I don't think our waiter knew the wines super well. He was pushing for the pricer wines and gave us tangy wines when we specifically asked not to. It really isn't a huge deal and we should've definitely got glasses instead. The space was also a bit surprising. It was much barer than I expected for such an interesting space. Wish they did a bit more with it. read more

Wobbly table, no food descriptions of ingredients. Server did not explain but I didn't ask either. The taro cake is mushy, served on unseasoned Napa cabbage, aioli, and dairy bun. Bun is smoky but cold, while taro cake is served warm. read more

Food was super delicious. All super flavorful in a good way and definitely my type of food. The thought put into this menu is above and beyond. Service was awesome, the waiter really knew what he was talking about and was very attentive to what we needed at all times. The space is absolutely gorgeous, cute, and unique! I can see so much personality put into it and that shows more care than any expensive decor. read more

We dined on a Thursday night, the place wasn't very busy but the ambience was cozy. The service was great and very attentive, the owner even came to say hi. On the food, we ordered the tuna tostada which was very good but a bit spicy, the egg rolls which are a solid choice, the standout was the beef skewers and pork sausage which were excellent, the fried rice was okay comforting but not remarkable. Overall a good solid dinner but price to quality was not amazing. read more

Hip, modern and delish. The menu is packed with lots of exciting and delicious fusioned flairs. Totally loved it. Highly recommend the tuna tartare and the lamb neck and the portion is big. The fried rice is very tasty and home dish like. Menu changes so by the time you read this the lamb neck might be off the menu. It shouldn't stop you dining here nonetheless. They have a beer garden in the back, and it is a great place to mingle and order light grubs. The End. read more

Really fun experience at Falansai. Very interesting, thoughtful dishes with unusual flavors and pairings. The turnip cakes and the duck congee were winners in the "Dac Biet" tasting menu. It was a bit expensive: $250 for a tasting menu for two with 1 drink. I wouldn't go back there immediately as if I wanted either Mexican or Vietnamese food one can get pho or tacos for ~$20, but it is a really fun night out and something very unusual for a date night. Lots of good bars and galleries nearby to combine with. read more

Falansai has been on my radar for a while and I'm glad I finally made it! The food had punchy and assertive flavors, and I enjoyed just about every bite. The space itself is airy and spacious and is modern with a slight nod towards its southeast Asian origins. I got the five course tasting menu, and added on a side of the confit duck necks because I had to have it. The confit duck necks seemed to be coated in some kind of sticky hoisin sauce and had the effect of even more flavorful chicken wings. The tasting menu comprised of pickles, beef tongue summer roll, pork sausage with grilled curry, and a pounded pork chop with fried eggs and rice. I might be missing something... but I enjoyed everything I had. The pork chop rice had a bunch of little sauces and pickles that really made the dish. The pork sausage was savory had a nice char, and I loved the sweet green curry that came with it. The one thing I didn't care for was the wine pairing. The wines had an unpleasant alcoholic bite and I didn't think they did anything for the food. read more

It doesn't get better than Falansai. The food here blew our minds, it was so good. Every dish was surprising and exquisite, and the service was so warm and professional. Try the duck necks, the Green curry, the Black bass, the shrimp toast and every dessert! The orange wine we ordered was so unusual and fantastic. I rarely write review the night of. Vibe: Falansai is in the perfect location, off the beaten path and unassuming. When you walk up, it feels light and airy. Inside has the perfect ambiance! Comfortable, modern with traditional nuances. You'll love the clean, simplistic decor. Food: SO SO GOOD. The Dad's fried rice is the best fried rice I've ever had. The Blazed and Glazed was the most flavorful delish dish.... get it! Confit duck necks fell off the bone, delicious. Shrimp toast was so unique, you have to try it. Finish with their Chia pudding and just go to heaven. Server shoutout: Kudos to Adam, honestly he gave us the best service I've had in a VERY long time. We didn't feel rushed, he explained the menu perfectly and he was so attentive, also funny! Manager! Please note, Adam is the best! Def bringing people back to this place!!! read more

Great food, solid menu, including wine list, reasonable prices. Pork shoulder was outstanding, exactly the flavors you wanted it to have at a place like this. The green sauce it came with--don't think we were told what it was by our server or the food runner--was also great. And the egg was nicely cooked, and broken rice is a fun change of pace. Would love to try this is some kind of burrito or bahn mi form sometime! Also loved the duck necks. Some work to get the meet off, but worth it. Little spicy too, but paired nicely with the noodle salad as a cool down. The noodle salad was good, with lots of nice herbs, and great flavor, would have just liked a touch more produce, papaya, cucumbers, whatever. Finally, had the egg rolls, but they weren't really special, nor did they have especially vietnamese flavors really. One rolled off the plate onto the table when it was being served and the runner immediately ordered us a new batch--nice service touch. We were also served a nice dessert, coconut chia pudding, which was a very nice way to finish. In providing a complete review, it is important to note that all the food we ordered came within about a 5 minute period, which made for a crowded table and eating some of it at less than optimal temperatures. To be fair, this isn't rare at restaurants, but detracted from the experience nonetheless. In providing a complete review, part 2, I asked our server if this is always how food is served there--because I wanted to know if it was a mistake or what I would need to work around on next visit. He got frustrated quickly. The owner checked in later and I asked him the same question. He said it shouldn't. Then our server brought us the aforementioned dessert to make up for the issue, which was appreciated. I will eagerly return to this restaurant, though I will ask for them to be thoughtful about the pacing of the food. read more

I don't know better how to say a place is perfect, but this place is perfect. Came here on a whim for the tasting menu, and was treated to the whole razzle dazzle. Our server even hooked us up with and after dinner drink after 4 course of incredible. Will be coming back here! read more

Another covid-era delivery review... I would say the food here is good, but I think maybe we were expecting more. Or maybe we need to order from here again, and try other menu items to make sure we got the right impression. So the much hyped duck neck- not so special for us. Kinda hard to eat, and the overall look was unappetizing in our opinion. The "best brussel sprouts ever"... were actually pretty damn good. I've had a lot of brussel sprouts so I won't even try to guess if these were the best ever. We had other stuff, and all-in-all the food was good. But it left us thinking we maybe didn't understand the hype. No worries, we'll try them again and make a final decision some time soon. read more

What an experience! Tried out their tasting menu with the hubby and we couldn't say anything negative about the dishes. Love all their dipping sauces (their hot sauce i can just drown in) and pickled veggies. But memorable dishes that are worth highlighting: the oysters - they tasted so fresh and the dab of sauce on them weren't overpowering but highlighted them shrimp toast - I remember asking the waiter what type of bread it was but I already forgot. Nonetheless I love the flavor & texture of that toast. Grilled calamari in mole with a side of tortillas - this was a bit messy since I drenched my tortilla with that mole sauce. Worth it. I don't usually like mole sauce, but this one I couldn't stop scooping the rest of the sauce with my spoon. Duck noodle soup - I'm not sure how you can pull this off with soup but the duck was crispy on the outside and yet so tender (falls off the bone type). The broth was phenomenal. I would eat this soup on the hottest day and would be the happiest. Lastly the desserts! The chocolate ganache and coconut pudding. They were both amazing. I love jack fruit so having this in the pudding was a joy for me. Besides their food, exceptional service, cute outdoor seating and just great vibes all around. read more

We had an amazing dinner here last night. We opted to go with the a la carte option and had the highlights were: the sticky rice, spring rolls, green curry, lamb skewers and glazed pork. All of these were amazing, I would just say that if you're not a fan of spicy food the green curry sneaks up on you. For dessert we had the coconut rice which had hibiscus shaved ice and was a nice touch. The wine the was recommended was great (we had a nice white and the wine list is fun and different which we liked). The service was also fantastic and we'll definitley be back again. read more

My partner and I had the best experience at this restaurant. We had a dinner reservation for the weekend and were honestly surprised it was not harder to get. We sat in the pretty outdoor patio (covered, a little humid but still nice and super clean) and ordered the tasting menu. Each dish was so creative with its use of ingredients (they served pickled charred veggies as a palate cleanser which included the scallion roots people usually chop off). The courses were also so filling which is not very common for tasting menus! Every single one was memorable and delicious. And we had wonderful service too, really friendly and attentive waiters who explained each dish and answered our questions. I am really excited to come back and try their regular menu. Could not recommend the tasting menu more! read more

We got the lamb neck and it was so delicious. The meat was very flavorful and tender. The taco presentation was the perfect combination of flavors. I loved that it was interactive (i was able to build my own taco). We also got the oysters with a sauce to that I'm forgetting but it was really yummy. Last thing we got was the red spicy curry with clams which was tasty but beware it was truly spicy. Ambiance was really great. Romantic/cozy lighting and art/plants for decor. read more

Fresh and airy decor. Our waitress was a ray of sunshine, attentive but not in our face. I was meeting a friend for lunch with my 4 month old baby. The waitress was patient when we were still there after 3pm when they close to get ready for dinner service, we were not forced out. I was able to quietly load up my napping baby in her carriage and go without rushing. The food was fresh and portions were plentiful. The green papaya salad was deliciously fresh and not too spicy. The autumn roll is a must when you visit. Unique flavors in this beet wrapped roll with pomegranate sauce that go well together. I had the vermicelli bowl with a fair amount of beef and curry sauce. The curry sauce gave the dish good flavor. I was also able to find parking close! Great lunch spot for fresh vietnamese cuisine. read more

Small but amazing menu. Every dish we ordered impressed us from the summer rolls to the chia seed pudding at the end! Egg rolls were served piping hot and delish. Spicy Green Curry blew us away, wish we would've ordered some rice to get every last drop. Tartare and ceviche were amazing, exploding with tons of flavor. Could've eaten that all night and been very happy. Our main meal was the Blazed & Glazed Pork shoulder with Dad's Fried Rice. Every bite was amazing, this is going to become one of our staples and we'll be bringing friends with. Don't sleep on the Chia Seed pudding. What the male host (who was very cold) gave us was an unfortunate first impression but the food and my server certainly made up for it. We shared the chefs tasting menu which was fun and delicious! Ours featured a shrimp salad, a tamale among other delights. The duck neck was very unique and very well seasoned. Blackened tuna left much to be desired. Banh mi was just ok. The super dac biet made for a fun dining experience that you shouldn't pass up on your visit. It is definitely worth the price. read more

Went here with friends for lunch. The food overall is good. I've had many a papaya salad and this one was average as I couldn't really taste the papaya very well - ingredients lacked flavor. Lemongrass tofu on top not as crispy on outside and soft on inside as I've had elsewhere. The vermicelli bowls were much better. My friend and I both had curry ones - the curry was fragrant, floral, and spicy - highly recommend. My partner had excellent pork imperial rolls on top of his vermicelli - they were crispy, salty yet slightly sweet. Vietnamese iced coffee was phenomenal and fun. Service is kind. read more

One of our best meals in BK. Food: we got the tasting menu. Every bite exploded in our mouths, and we especially loved that it was chef's whim, off menu. I'm not adventurous, so the team checked in with me before each course, and was even willing to split courses to make sure I was comfortable while my husband got to try to adventurous items he loves (e.g., fish cheeks). Wine pairing was also phenomenal Service: they were the nicest. Attentive, warm, accommodating (see above). Ambiance: fun and funky. I found a hair in the food, showed it to the server who didn't seemed bothered at all by it. I told the manger about it on my way out, He just said "eew", shrugged his shoulders and went on his way. I am very supportive of small establishments and know how they have to struggle. I also understand that things just happen at times, but the response (or lack of it) was very concerning. Had to flag down the server multiple times just to get more water. No one came to check if we wanted anything else once the food was brought to the table. The green curry was very delicious, but did have that hair in it.....I guess to add more flavor, since they didn't seem at all bothered by it. Very disappointed and dissatisfied. read more

Went for a friend's birthday party and did the Dac Biet tasting menu. The food was overall good and creative, the highlights were the skewers and the curry. The tamales were a bit flat for me. On a Sunday afternoon my boyfriend & I were craving Pho. So we decided to venture out to Brooklyn for the day. We arrived at Falansai a little too early (4:00pm) but they open at 5:30pm. Oops, my mistake. I didn't think to check the time of the restaurant and just assumed they were opened all day on the weekend. We drove off to Williamsburg since there seemed like there wasn't much to do in the area. We ended up back around 6:30pm and got seated right away. You can choose to bar, table or booth cushion seating. We went for the booth cushion. For appetizers we ordered the Summer and Autumn Roll. I give them a star for creativity. I never heard of an Autumn Roll before but it was good. Made of red beet, green apple, avocado, peanuts and vermicelli. The Summer roll was the traditional shrimp, vermicelli, wrap with added avocado in it. I wouldn't really call it bland, both were light in taste. Healthy and light. For the Pho, they have a really intriguing menu called the Globe Trotter. You can choose to mix and match your protein, broth and noodle. They offer Rice, Glass and even Egg Noodle. On top of that, you can add a condiment from around the world. For example, Tamarind Tomatoes from Vietnam, Curry-coconut from Vietnam, Mole problano from Mexico, Miso-peanuts from Gunkanjima and Aji amarillo from Peru. I thought this was so creative and although I didn't try it, I would love to come back to. For our entrees I chose the Chicken Pho and he choose the Beef Pho. UNLIKE THE TYPICAL PHO JOINTS, THEY DO NOT USE MSG IN THEIR COOKING. That sentence on the menu caught my eye and was immediately interested in how different the broth would taste. Out came my shredded free range chicken pho. The broth was very light. It tasted like the healthy version of a chicken noodle soup. I enjoyed it very much. My boyfriend on the other hand, did not particularly enjoy his Beef Pho, saying his broth wasn't to his liking. I kept teasing him on how it was all that MSG he was missing. Who knows. I did get a taste of his broth and it was a bit tangy? I don't think I would have enjoyed it too. I saw they have banh mi in the photos but I didn't see it on the dinner menu. Would love to come back and try that too. If you're looking for a healthy option to Vietnamese food, this is the restaurant to go to. 3.5 Stars. read more

this review is only for the Pho....we were really looking forward to being able to get good Pho within walking distance but were pretty disappointed...the broth had very little taste...having lived in Seattle for a year i used to eat Pho all the time and it became one of my favorite cheap dishes, cant beat a $6.95 Lunchtime Pho! This one was $10.00 and had no taste...it did have lot's of beef of good quality, but the broth was like water...I have no idea what the other dishes are like, apparently quite good according to other reviews here...we will be back to try the other dishes, but will pass on the Beef Pho.....perhaps we will try the chicken or the pork one (wasn't on the menu, perhpas it was a special) so far the best Pho we have had in brooklyn was at Nha Toi...(but I hear one must be careful not to upset Fred the owner, although he has always been fine with us) read more
