Update November 13, 2018: Today, I stopped by to drop off some dead batteries and other hazardous waste at the Hazardous and Household Waste (HHW) section. Thaddeus was alert to see two CFL tubes in the back of my truck that I had not thought to give him (I had only handed him a grocery bag of HHW out of my driver side window and was about to take off). I had asked him if CFL tubes had to be clean (I had already cleaned off the grease that was on them). His fellow employee, "Junior", said that they should be cleaned (therefore be advised). I also wish to extend kudos to their other friendly employees that I met today, Mike, Donny, and especially the lady at the entrance kiosk, Paula. While I was there, I got out to take several pictures for Yelp. Donny politely informed me that I should not enter into the area where only garbage trucks and commercial haulers are allowed to enter and exit. I saw a forlorn globe near this same entrance that apparently had fallen off a truck. I asked Donny if I could keep it and he did allow me to have it. I mention all this as it is greatly appreciated that employees at this facility have a heart when dealing with their customers, including (as much as possible), when customers step into a "verboten" zone. This makes for better public relations as rudeness would only encourage people to dump illegally. Thank you all!

Fast! In and out in record time, super friendly staff and fairly priced. A bit stinky, but after all it is a dump!

Their certificate of destruction and their residential pickup services really sold it for me. I filled their online form late Saturday night, and wasn't expecting a reply until Monday (they're closed on the weekends) but to my shock one of their reps replied on Sunday and confirmed adding me to their route for a Monday pickup. They're not able to reserve a particular time slot/frame, you can request an ideal range but know if they can't arrive you'll need to go in person or reschedule to another day. If you do need to reschedule the pickup for a day with more flex, be sure to notify them right away so they can update the driver. For me, the flat fee was $75 but this could range for others (depending on items being picked up, distance, etc.). Payment was through an online portal, with a link sent in the scheduling email. I had originally requested pickup before 12pm, as timing would have it, I was delayed and was still at my apartment when the driver did arrive about 2 hours later. Everything worked out, the driver was very nice and was able to take my items (no paperwork to fill or was provided).

My husband and I cleaned out a 2-car garage and just needed a dumpster for a few hours (re: just…read morelong enough to throw a couple hundred garbage bags). It shouldn't have been a hard thing to schedule, but somehow it was the most impossible thing in the world to find a company that would haul a dumpster to Des Moines for under $500. I finally contacted Eastside after trying the major garbage carriers and just getting ignored; Steve answered my emails and was very prompt and professional. He explained that what I was looking for (a dumpster rental for just a short time) would be a little cheaper than the standard 5-day rental. I was also equally impressed with Heather (I believe that was her name, sometimes it was hard to hear her). They both confirmed that I could rent a 20-yd dumpster for 2 days for about 250 (+tonnage fees). Not bad, considering another company wanted 550 for a 10-yd! I had a few odd requests (pick up the dumpster as early as possible because it was an abandoned house and we didn't want neighbors deciding to dump stuff in it, etc. etc). and when I swung by the house at 9am the next morning the dumpster was gone. I specified that it was important that I receive the total as soon as they knew it - guess what? They called later that same day with the total. (Anyone who's ever tried to get customer service to call them back KNOWS how rare this is.) They were fantastic, if I ever need to move 1.5 tons of garbage again I'm definitely sticking with these guys!

I needed a dumpster for a rental property we own. We were tearing out a deck, removing a small kitchen, and the tenants left a whole lot of junk - toys, garbage, just junk. We also had several very heavy pieces of concrete to dump. With these items, we almost filled the 20 yard dumpster. I had no idea how to estimate how much this might weigh (since they charge per ton to dump). To give you an idea, it was 3.37 tons of waste. (They charged $100 per ton to dump as of Nov. 2012). That is on top of the 20 yard rental fee ($250). The dumpster is on wheels and is tall (almost 6 feet I think) - but it has two doors that swing open and make it easy to load. I called around and priced other companies - this one charges just about the same as others. I went with them because another company didn't allow you to mix waste in the container - it had to be either garbage OR construction debris. The one annoying thing that happened was that I kept the container for almost the whole week that is included - since it's a rental property and I don't live there, it was unattended at night. One of the neighbors noticed and dumped 2 toilets, florescent bulbs, and other heavy items that I then had to pay to dispose of. So I called Eastside Hauling the next day and had them pick it up early. Keep that in mind - if you're not going to be home to keep an eye on the dumpster - arrange to have it dropped off and picked up for only the time you need it, otherwise it's too tempting for neighbors to help themselves.

I wanted to get an extra wireless keyboard and mouse so I could have one at work and one at home and wouldn't have to carry them around. I asked about them in the store and was led to a plastic box that was filled with identical wireless keyboard mouse combos. I picked one out and asked where the chip was. This should have tipped off the clerk that I was not tech savvy. As I suspect many of there customers are not. She told me the toggle was under the mouse. I got the set home and did not see a toggle under the mouse (latter I found out she was saying dongle). I looked in the battery chambers of both the keyboard and mouse and did not see it. I called the them and was told to check the battery chambers of both the keyboard and mouse and once again I didn't see it. I was told that this would be a once in a lifetime that a chip was not with the keyboard. I brought the unit in and we looked in the keyboard battery area next. Then we looked we looked at the mouse and they pointed out a built in dongle compartment in the battery chamber of the mouse. I was never told there could be a built in compartment when I was in the store or later on the phone. I have since find some YouTube videos that explain where to find the dongle. This tells me I'm not that only one to have trouble finding it.
