It was only brought to my attention when I started questioning them at the time of service. And the two older men that were there to provide the service felt as though they were making up excuses for the misinformation just to charge me more! For an example, when asked why the online quote was completely different. They responded that the online site has not been "Updated." I was unable to carry a king size bed and water heater tank on my own to the dump station. So I had no choice at the time and just paid them $420.00 to dump those two items alone. They wanted an extra $1,000 for the remainder of junk that would have filled up half of the truck. The online estimated it would have cost $400 for the load. I wouldn't recommend this company simply because they're deceitful and they don't care to have a better rapport with returning customers. Instead contact "Got Junk!" They removed everything that was quoted from College Hunks for $1,400 on site! Got Junk did it for $620 total!!! They were also thoughtful enough to advise me to remove roofing materials on my own to save me from a heavy load fee. College hunks you need to really learn from "1-800 Got Junk" hunks.

I Came Here On Purpose...and They Blew It!…read more With gas pushing $6 per gallon, I decided to explore a closer scrap yard option instead of driving all the way to Kent. So I came to The Recycling Depot deliberately -- on purpose -- to compare their prices against other yards in the Seattle area. I left knowing one thing for certain: they don't know what fair pricing looks like. They paid me $0.03/lb for steel. That's right -- three cents. My load was 700 lbs of steel, and they handed me $21.00 for it. That same steel would've been worth around $42 elsewhere (or more depending on the yard). Add in stainless, aluminum, and brass, and my total ticket came to $31.25. Laughable. For comparison, Binford Metal Recycling in Kent would've paid me double on steel alone. That's $21 straight out of my pocket they basically stole -- and that's just one metal. The difference on a full load like mine? Easily $50-$60. Real money. Real loss. And the worst part? No transparency. No explanation. Just: weighed it, printed it, paid you, next. If you don't know scrap prices, you'll get taken. If you do, you'll never return. They failed the test. I came prepared, and they got exposed. I won't be back -- and neither should you!
