The Recycling Depot - Binford vs the recycling depot‍

The Recycling Depot

I Came Here On Purpose...and They Blew It!…read more With gas pushing $6 per gallon, I decided to explore a closer scrap yard option instead of driving all the way to Kent. So I came to The Recycling Depot deliberately -- on purpose -- to compare their prices against other yards in the Seattle area. I left knowing one thing for certain: they don't know what fair pricing looks like. They paid me $0.03/lb for steel. That's right -- three cents. My load was 700 lbs of steel, and they handed me $21.00 for it. That same steel would've been worth around $42 elsewhere (or more depending on the yard). Add in stainless, aluminum, and brass, and my total ticket came to $31.25. Laughable. For comparison, Binford Metal Recycling in Kent would've paid me double on steel alone. That's $21 straight out of my pocket they basically stole -- and that's just one metal. The difference on a full load like mine? Easily $50-$60. Real money. Real loss. And the worst part? No transparency. No explanation. Just: weighed it, printed it, paid you, next. If you don't know scrap prices, you'll get taken. If you do, you'll never return. They failed the test. I came prepared, and they got exposed. I won't be back -- and neither should you!

I don't know how they found their pricing, but I reviewed the receipt and looked up the pricing and they paid 1/2 of what they should have. i still walked away with $100, but it should have been $250 after I looked up the pricing for each metal. it was convenient that they're open 7 days a week. need to work on their customer service and being more accountable and fair.

Friendly Earth International - Thank you, Friendly Earth truck, for partially blocking my building's garage entry overnight by parking in a 24 hour loading zone.

Rushing to complete a move that included needing to get rid of some items that had piled up (old…read moreelectronic accessories, old iPhone, a laptop, and a PS4), a quick Google search of local recycling e-waste brought me to Friendly Earth International. Their certificate of destruction and their residential pickup services really sold it for me. I filled their online form late Saturday night, and wasn't expecting a reply until Monday (they're closed on the weekends) but to my shock one of their reps replied on Sunday and confirmed adding me to their route for a Monday pickup. They're not able to reserve a particular time slot/frame, you can request an ideal range but know if they can't arrive you'll need to go in person or reschedule to another day. If you do need to reschedule the pickup for a day with more flex, be sure to notify them right away so they can update the driver. For me, the flat fee was $75 but this could range for others (depending on items being picked up, distance, etc.). Payment was through an online portal, with a link sent in the scheduling email. I had originally requested pickup before 12pm, as timing would have it, I was delayed and was still at my apartment when the driver did arrive about 2 hours later. Everything worked out, the driver was very nice and was able to take my items (no paperwork to fill or was provided).

First, I asked about changing my keypad. Their response, "we don't have Mac parts like that. You can buy a keypad from here." Ok. Next, I asked if they can fix the problem with my internal mic because my students can not hear me when during class on Zoom. They did not offer to look at it to see what might be the problem and told me that I could buy an external microphone." Without even confirming the exact problems my internal mic is having. I mean, I was not even asked to open the MBA just so we could take a quick look together. Instead, they told me to go to their Tukwilla store, (cause that's where repairs happen) and that labor is $95 an hour). Their care was at best, uninterested to completely nonplussed with anything I had to ask. What a total bummer. The two men didn't give a fvk about my questions but suggested I buy products from them. This place came highly recommended and not only will I never give these people my money but I will also never recommend anybody to waste their time here unless you look like them. They may even ask you to turn on your laptop and show them what's going on with your computer if you look like them. But I straight up got the nicca treatment. Oh well. Skip Re-PC and find another maybe even smaller computer repair spot.
