So I came to The Recycling Depot deliberately -- on purpose -- to compare their prices against other yards in the Seattle area. I left knowing one thing for certain: they don't know what fair pricing looks like. They paid me $0.03/lb for steel. That's right -- three cents. My load was 700 lbs of steel, and they handed me $21.00 for it. That same steel would've been worth around $42 elsewhere (or more depending on the yard). Add in stainless, aluminum, and brass, and my total ticket came to $31.25. Laughable. For comparison, Binford Metal Recycling in Kent would've paid me double on steel alone. That's $21 straight out of my pocket they basically stole -- and that's just one metal. The difference on a full load like mine? Easily $50-$60. Real money. Real loss. And the worst part? No transparency. No explanation. Just: weighed it, printed it, paid you, next. If you don't know scrap prices, you'll get taken. If you do, you'll never return. They failed the test. I came prepared, and they got exposed. I won't be back -- and neither should you!

I happened to lose my direction driving to MCS Recycling which has almost an exact street address as Eastmont Transfer Station but at opposite end; "W" instead of "E" street designator (7201 E Marginal Way). Upon driving to this station, I parked then walked up the ramp to knock on the office for verification & help. There was a young lady working in the office and her name is Savanna. Upon learning of my problems of having a malfunctioned phone/GPS using Waze for direction, Savanna quickly showed me the directions to get to MCS Recycling. Just to make sure I would not forget her instructions, Savanna also printed out a paper copy for me to take with me! She helped me regardless of whether I was a customer of her business or not! There is also a location in North Seattle. Hours are limited to Thurs-Sat. Again, check website for latest hours as they may fluctuate. Can be busy on weekends, especially in AM. They used to have a free re-use selection but there were literal brawls over the stuff from pickers and Craigslist flippers, so they (thankfully) shut down that clown show.

Do you have any idea how loud this operation is? Combined with the excessive back-up beeper as the truck maneuvered about 5 times in and out of the parking lot, we got startled awake and then got to stay awake for about an hour as the driver did their thing. How about, don't wake the neighborhood at ungodly hours! This restaurant is closed on Sundays so you can come do the grease trap at ANY REASONABLE TIME.
